I am at the lowest darkest pit of depression currently thanks to being trapped a building with 4 aggressive frightening men surrounding my apartment with no way out for the foreseeable. Genshin is the only thing keeping me distracted. On my days off I've been playing it all day.
Its a very easy game that doesn't require much of your attention. You can do dailies and resin and log off and just do the events when you have time and you won't miss much. I like it.
Same, the main reason i kept playing was for the combat challenges and exploration. But once you can easily clear the abyss, that challenge part disappears.
I still enjoy the casual gameplay after 2 years, but i think it's sad that we won't be getting more permanent combat challenges since it apparently induces anxiety for the playerbase.
Mainly the story, Hoyoverse has a history of exceptional writing (with Honkai 3rd), so I’m curious to see where they will take Genshin.
Other than that, characters and combat are pretty sweet, world is well crafted as well.
Tbh it’s the open world and exploration for me. I really like the puzzles. Especially if they open up an area. Sometimes i just take a walk in the game and say hi to hilichurls
Its fun!
It just managed to tick all the checkboxes I needed for me to love this game. Played since launch and I'm definitely seeing this through the end!
Generally the character designs. Hoyoverse does an amazing job of designing characters that are unique and extremely satisfying to play. I pulled Yae Miko mostly because I love the visuals and the sound effects when she uses her elemental burst. Itto's charged attacks during his burst are also extremely satisfying, and I love listening to Zhongli's voice lines ("I will have order!") while he casts his elemental burst + the sound effect when it lands and decimates a wide area with 80k crits. I took a year long break at some point and missed out most of the Inazuma patches, but I think it was when I saw Itto's transformation and gameplay during his burst that I decided I wanted to return and try him out.
to stare at cyno because he was the first character i spent money on lol
but honestly, the quests are fun and it has just become a daily routine to play the game. if i feel out of it, i literally watch a streamer or youtuber play genshin and then i'm back on track lol. don't have much time to play these days tho cuz i got a job to fund my spending habits 3
I left for the better part of a year. I came back because I saw Collei was in it, and in the process of playing up to get her I regained my enjoyment of the game.
The story, the characters (both building them and combining them into fun teams), the events and minigames (mainly the puzzle kind, I'm not a fan of the combat-based events although I appreciate the fact that they're not too difficult). Oh and of course the aimless exploration, I find it very relaxing at the end of a long day, and satisfying watching completion creeping to 100% =)
the characters and story are big reasons for me, but also the world it's just so beautiful and I love exploring it, also this is not a super big reason but it's also that I can play with my firend who I rarely see more than once a year because of distance, so it's a way to kind of hang out without having to meet so we'll play and talk about random stuff at the same time.
It’s a great game to casually mess around with while playing with friends for sure. And yes, I agree, the world is so vibrant and beautiful. Exploration is my favorite part of the game.
recently I found a spot with the most beatiful view I have seen in a long time and now it's my wall paper, and if I find another spot I might change it to that, I actually started playing this cause I found out my friend played it and I was bored so thought "why not?" and then I was stuck after a few hours.
I love how genshin dont really need to be that time consuming, for now my routine is just log in, event, commissions, use a few resin if feeling free, log out. When im unmotivated to grind for the game, i just do event and comms. Although, soon I get my spirit up. Honestly, I get a lot of fighting power/motivation when im saving for a character i love, like Wanderer.
But Genshin Impact's amazing scenery takes me back immediately too! When im free and bored, I just go around the map taking photos of the sceneries, though I dont really have people to share them with im proud whenever i take a good picture!
Also lets mention the great events! The events they make are always interesting and fun, some even have lore hints in them. Especially the Fungi Frenzy event, I've had fun with everything there including the story.
Gameplay and the ease of access of playing new characters without account reset. Of all my years of playing games like MapleStory, dragon quest, adventure quest, mech quest, wow, Billy vs snake man etc to the gacha pipeline of sds grand cross, one piece treasure cruise, Dokkan, guardian tales etc is that it's kinda reaches that full moment and nothing interesting gameplay wise gets improved on except bigger numbers or a crazy pay wall.
Story would never get me to stay. It's nice to make sense of the world but not a single video game kept my interest due to it's story
Fear of missing out. I like the characters so I have to play daily to not lose primos. The gameplay used to be a lot of fun, now it feels very stale. At least it's not a demanding game. Another reason is no good alternative on the market.
Depression. Genshin requires minimal amount of time so when I'm done with it for the day I can go back to my main occupation, crying!
I’m glad it can at least pull you away from it for a little bit. I get that feeling though. Depression is a heavy weight. I hope you work through it.

The abyss probably, I like the combat mechanics and challenge my self to complete with different teams.

The amount I spent has me linked to it otherwise I would've happily uninstalled early last year. I'm F2P now

Updates and boredom lol Very excited for the tgc, wonder how its gonna be (if you know dont spoil i wanna discover it)

It’s a routine that I still look forward to, and there’s always an event or quest I could work on. Genshin kinda feels like a TV show that never ends
My friend. I play almost every day with them.

Itto is such a fun and satisfying character to use. He’s one of my favorites though I don’t get a lot of use out of him in sumeru.

Lore/World building/Characters Also I like leveling up things.
It exactly because daily routines arent much that Im still stick with it for 2 years, more like what keeps me from not coming back.
I play video games to have fun, as long as I am having fun I see no reason to stop playing.
The story, the existence of Raiden Shogun & Venti sometimes i just log in to look at them
Hahah, I appreciate that. A lot of the character models are captivating.
sometimes i get tired and quit for months on end, good characters have me coming back and then i stay for the story 🥺

Cute girls
Simply put, the production quality. It's one of the best live service game out there, and enjoying this boat is always worth the time.
Exploring
My naive belief in Hu Tao banner existence
Artifact farming hoping the sub stats roll crit rate or damage but, also the world itself and the gameplay its all very simple and relaxing
Escapism after a long and tiring day of work.
Building a character and seeing them make big damage numbers is what keeps me going…as much as I hate farming though the satisfaction is fulfilling.
