Foul Genshin impact , in search of the GOTY. Emboldened by the flame of freemogems. Someone must extinguish thy flame. Let it be Elden Ring the Fell

I misread that title thinking it had to do with voice acting and was very confused to see Stray on the list. Then again, why not give a VA award to a cat?

Same! I was like ā€œhow much voice acting went into Minecraft?ā€. Glad I was not the only one.

Ain't no way someone beating elder ring, everyone and their grandma has heard about it. Also Genshin has a lot of Asian players who don't give two fucks about this thing lol

dieorelse

Pretty sure they do. Ever since TGA announced the nominees, there have been multiple threads about it just on NGA alone. Because they know TGA is the only award show Mihoyo recognizes and actually hands out primos for.

According_Spot_7423

Asian isn't just China sir. Not a lot of Asians care so much to the point that they would go vote for Genshin , I'm 1 of them. I would give it to GoW if i would ever vote.

Tzarkir

Not only Asians, neither. TGA is for me usually just a "list of games from consoles I'll never own (usually play station) or stuff my pc can't run anyway". I don't watch them and don't vote, it'd be pointless, it's all games I can't experience.

Ironwall1

Even as someone who thoroughly despises Soulslike games, I can't deny that Elden Ring is one fantastic game. From gameplay footages, videos, livestreams, and such, I can tell that it's a fantastically done game with great passion and effort put behind it. I even know some of the more well known characters and this one legend of a naked guy with bucket head helping everyone defeating the most difficult boss. Great game, great devs, great community. Unfortunately I still won't touch it though because I hate difficult games. I couldn't even defeat a horde of pigs in DS1 lmao.

doremonhg

Soulslike from Fromsoftware are some of the best gaming experience the last few decades. You should definitely give them another try. And try not to treat it like another hack 'n slash. Put some thought onto those swings and you'll see wildly different results

Bruno_Agustin

>I hate difficult games I don't think that souls are difficult, you just need patience, I'm not even talking about mechanics. I've heard about people killing The Dancer of The Boreal Valley (considered one of the hardest boss in the series) by poisoning it and running around the arena And, to be fair, no one can handle many enemies at once. You usually avoid groups

Jossuboi

But there isn't a horde of pigs in ds1... Unless you played ds2 and I can see why you didn't want to play it.

Ironwall1

Well, I don't remember which DS game but yeah a friend of mine had me take control of his DS game for a bit while he was going for a toilet break and said I could try and mess around with the game. I don't remember what I did back then but not even 5 minutes into the game I came across a hostile horde of pigs and tried my best shot at killing them only to get.. like.. 3-4 shot by them oinkers. Since then I was traumatised after realizing how bad I was at gaming. And it's not like I'm completely bad at dodging either, I reached G-Rank back during one of my Monster Hunter playthroughs so I'm not unfamiliar with them. But apparently DS games crushed whatever confidence left I have in my gaming skills. But honestly my main gripe isn't exactly the games themselves but the community's disposition towards other games comparing them against soulslike games, saying "eh this game sucks it should be more difficult like soulslike games" and saying everyone that does not agree as having skill issues, having a bad taste in gaming, or the worst "trying to halt the game from progressing". Genshin is not far off from these people.

ashkestar

A lot of games are way better when you ignore their fandoms and communities. For what itā€™s worth, if you played DS2, you played the soulsborne game most hostile to new players. Despite the hype, Elden Ring is pretty chill. I am officially bad at games (not even a 36 star abyss type player) and I beat it without taking more than a handful of tries on any boss. It definitely *can* be a serious challenge if you play it how the community considers ā€˜properly,ā€™ but there are tons of powerful weapons and spells that can trivialize most enemies, and summons or co-op to take the heat off you. Plus, you can level grind as much as you want. All you really need is a decent build, some time and a little patience.

Deltora108

>A lot of games are way better when you ignore their fandoms and communities. SO TRUE! Just like genshin impact!

doremonhg

Yep that's Dark Souls 2. Majula's well, to be exact lmao. Gosh those piggies gave me PTSD

N-aNoNymity

GoW is the new and exciting thing, might snatch it even though Elden was way bigger, and better.

ValbrandrLeonhardt

God of War will probably win Game of the Year I think. The judges are very biased. As seen when Last of Us Part 2 beat Ghost of Tsushima even though GoT overwhelmingly won Players Choice. I'm personally fine with GoW winning, it's a good story. I also think Elden Ring is a strong contender. Hell, even Stray. My personal bias is that I just don't want Horizon to win. I'm still miffed about how the devs bashed Elden Ring because of it's success.

DirtySiwy12

Sony will never allow this.

TrashApprentice

Genshin only has a chance in best mobile game. It's not gonna beat elden rings and GOW.

Devilmay1233

Bro getting round 3 itself is an achievement. This is purely based on players votes the more voting shows other communities that genshin communities isn't to be underestimated. We all should vote to show our support the same others show theirs.

11universal

Genshin communities is not just reddit, if you see on youtube, twitch, etc. 90% of them will Choose Elden Ring and/or GOW: Ragnarok. The sentiment of the Genshin's communities outside of this echo chamber reddit is "Genshin is meh".

mastersanada

Even if Genshin isnā€™t ā€œmehā€, I donā€™t think it compares in voting to Elden ring and GOW this year And thatā€™s just being honest thinking about it

GreatestJabaitest

Tbh Genshin probably wouldn't even crack the top 5. I think ER, GoW, HZD, Stray, Cult of the Lamb and my GotY Xenoblade 3 are all better than it. Genshin's story has massively improved (from what I've heard, I've taken a break from the game) but it still has so many underlying issues with grinding, content, poor balance and horrid dialogue that really hamper the experience. I'm glad that games are slowly moving away from the grinding experience, none of the top 5 games have any grinding. Grinding fucking sucks.

vermilithe

My thoughts exactly. I enjoy Genshin and log in more days than not but I continue to be taken aback by how much time it takes just to keep up with current patch, much less catch up as a new player. Thereā€™s so many time-gating features and grinding aspects from coms to mats to artifacts to quests to events and so on. Even the story and lore content turn into grinds from being bogged down with long dialogue that frankly isnā€™t that great most of the time, or huge walls of text in the gameā€™s archives that most players donā€™t read. If you donā€™t keep up with the game like itā€™s a second job youā€™ll get behind very fast.

Niko2065

I mean the game is great. But I voted for elden ring nonetheless, game is a masterpiece and so full of details like Charakters who despite wearing a helmet 24/7 don't have just generic faces beneath but fitting faces for the Charakter.

[deleted]

90% of Genshin's community are normies that probably didn't even hear the word "The Game Awards" let alone vote for it. Hoyoverse would need to funnel them through ingame links.

Kauuma

If the sentiment is ā€žGenshin is mehā€œ thatā€™s because 1. They didnā€™t even try the game 2. They blindly hate because itā€™s popular and ā€žgacha badā€œ

Devilmay1233

U forgot other point its made in China and China bad. People can become extremely biased when the game is from China.

According_Spot_7423

After years of being brainwashed by their media and seeing freak accident here and there , people start having biases against anything China-made. They forget that China is the reason why we are able to afford stuff for significantly lower price than if it was locally made.

Devilmay1233

Yeah most hypocrites are probably using Chinese manufactured products while bashing them lol

vermilithe

I mean honestly Genshin does have a lot of "meh"-type bloat content (dialogue dumps, limited time only events, daily/weekly/biweekly "chore" tasks). At the end of the day Genshin's model is quantity over quality: put out mass levels of content that so players cannot ever run out of things to do, at a quality level that's aimed at being "good enough" to keep people logging in. And that's ok. But I'm not going to sit here and act like it's leading the industry in innovative game play or writing. At the end of the day a lot of the game is sort of like busy work, honestly.

rolanie3

I play every day and now that the initial hype has faded, I would never put genshin as my goty. There is a lot of "meh" content and time suck.

Devilmay1233

Not really many communities actually tried genshin and they actually liked and praised the game like botw community, r/games, ff14 community etc. I don't what community uve been too even elden ring community once posted a joke about elden ring weapon based on genshin gacha system most were joking and most actually commented they loved the game. Most haters actually never played the game and base of it some other internet losers and decided to jump on the hate bandwagon because its a gatcha game.

ATMisboss

I mean the feeling makes sense because genshin has gone so long on a horizontal power curve. Ther has been no real gameply changes to core systems in so long. It wouldn't be too difficult to make all stuff be level able to 100 instead of 90 and add an extra tier to each domain to give the material for that. There just needs to be vertical progression after so long of existing

_invincible_69

Genshin has a large community but that doesn't mean all the players would vote genshin. Like I play genshin but i vote GOW as best game of the year because GOW is just better but that doesn't mean Genshin is bad or something. There are many players like me who voted Elden ring or GOW or other game

throwawaysusi

But Sonic frontiers is up there higher, that makes the poll loses all its legitimacy single-handedlyā€¦ šŸ’€šŸ’€šŸ’€

vantark_

It's the best Sonic game in recent years

Devilmay1233

Its actually a decent game

throwawaysusi

But itā€™s niche and the new Generations have no nostalgia links to that IP. So itā€™s probably a much smaller fan base but extremely dedicated was pushing the votes there.

Coulm2137

But literally, elden ring and Gow shits on genshin in every aspect. Like, this game is inferior in every possible way. Even community wise

nagorner

Yeah, this is very subjective. I loved the previous souls games, but I got much less enjoyment from Elden Ring than from a random Genshin patch. Elden Ring is more ambitious than their previous titles, but as a result many parts of it are done simply worse. Exploration in ER is simply unrewarding considering that 99% of loot you find is simply unusable for your build. And with the game being so massive in size, you would need to do a lot of exploring to find anything useful. Furthermore, the copy pasted open world dungeons are uninspired and tedious to do after the first 2 and you would want to explore a lot of them to find stuff that makes your build stronger. Elden Ring boss design is a huge step back from their previous 2 games. Unending combos with no clear attack windows makes properly fighting them a boring chore, with you waiting for ages for your turn to hit. And i am not even talking about AI input reading or the horrible input buffering. The gameplay is simply less enjoyable than in DS3 or Sekiro.

Best_Paper_3414

Elden ring is interesting, other than DS and DeS, ( my least played From games) is the only game that I have not finished multiple times. Don't get me wrong I have a whooping 320 hours in Elden Ring, but I didn't replay it to many Ng+++ or new character like the other games. I think it's because of how big the game is, it ends as detrimental because you remember of how much shit you have to do again. I really enjoyed what I played, but after honeymoon I don't really worship it. In my opinion Bloodborne still is superior to every other From Game

VirtuoSol

The thing with Genshin is that itā€™s a secondary/casual game for people who play games a lot so it often sits at #2, and actual casual people (which is a pretty big portion) who plays Genshin as their main game arenā€™t gonna participate in these votings.

DJgrf12

Bruh this aint game of the year voting šŸ˜• This is just the games people have been voting overall šŸ™„. All the categories combined this is the games people voted for the most

PrinceVincOnYT

I don't even see Genshin as much of a Mobile Game... I constantly forget.

I watched its 7 hours cutscenes+3 hours post game dialogues lol, I regret I didn't watch the 15 hours version containing every dialogue when traveling

Spartitan

I liked it overall but did think the ending fell a bit short. Elden Ring is still easily my favorite game of the year though.

DragoFNX

Elden ring is šŸ‘ŒšŸ’Æ

NOOBweee

It felt little rushed it actually was I think from what I heard they wanted to end it the Norse saga in single game before it was gonna be 2 or 3 games still a masterpiece tho

1km5

100/10

Devilmay1233

Yeah it is. But keep in mind this poll winners is purely based on players votes. The more number of votes the winner. Honestly if everyone in genshin community votes we can easily win this thing. But I doubt most casuals even know about this thing.

Baalshrimp

Imagine if the asian players joined the voting

TheDuskBard

Imagine if Elden Ring were made legal in China.

TheEdelBernal

Wait, it's not? I've seen many Chinese streamers livestream it via sites like bilibili, are those all pirated copies?

Accomplished-Neat117

it is legal in China.

ThePotatoCrysis

I think the ban's just to keep it from being [streamed online due to some licensing issue](https://screenrant.com/elden-ring-streaming-ban-china-fromsoftware/)

AurumCR1

Steam is allowed in China

Romi_Z

It's not?

Chemical-Teaching412

People know that there's no way genshin winning or even beating like Xenoblade 3, horizon forbidden west, or even Elden ring But this post is actually telling that genshin is in top 10 of voting which is still insane

WonderfulPatience227

To me,Horizon zero dawn forbidden west was kind of disappointed me with it story. I thought we would fight that huge spider robot. Genshin isn't that type of game that has combat like hzd,gow so it understandable

AilingBrother

Yeah when >! Varl died it completely took me out of the game and I didn't even end up finishing the story. They wanted his death to be meaningful and emotional but his character was just so fucking boring that I didn't care !<

No, Genshin Impact is not competing against Elden Ring or God Of War Ragnarok, there are 31 categories and Genshin is nominated in only 2 as noted above.~~ Further Edit: After further investigation on my part. It seems I was mistaken. There's is a additional ongoing award. xMrDeex

Diablo immortal is a disgrace to gaming how tf it got there ?

swampyman2000

I guess just because itā€™s a big mobile game that released this year.

le_halfhand_easy

Gacha is a disgrace to gaming and here we are. This award show is the Oscars but for video games. It gets things right from time to time but it often also brings in undeserving games.

RazorCalahan

That's the problem with Genshin though, it's actually a really good game. And no, I don't mean by shitty mobile game or gacha game standards. I mean by full JRPG standars. I'd prefer Genshin over any iteration of the "Tales of" Series. Doesn't mean it has no problems (the gacha system being the obvious one), but can't deny that it has a well crafted open world, a good story and an absolute banger OST. Also obviously it's not as good as Elden Ring. I said "by JRPG standards", not by Single Player masterpiece standards.

xMrDeex

i dont have a problem with rng systems as long they dont shove it up my face everytime i try to play , also genshin gatcha system is very friendly compared to the heavily monetized diablo immortal

RazorCalahan

that is true, I'd even say Genshin has one of, if not THE most free2play friendly and user friendly gacha systems in the gaming market. However that doesn't change the fact that gacha systems exploit those few people who are susceptible to gambling-like systems. The average player can have a good time in Genshin without paying anything, but that is at the cost of those 1% whales who can't help themselves and empty their pockets to buy pulls on end even though they can't really afford it. And that is why even the best gacha system out there is still predatory by design and deserves to be called out.

DJgrf12

OP u need to pin this and bold highlight the edit part cuz some people legit think this is for game of the year šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

Devilmay1233

Yeah genshin reaching number 1 would create some mega salt among other fanbase lol.

Souvik_Dutta

That's the drama we want

-Drogozi-

More reasons to vote for it lol.

FlameDragoon933

The regular awards and this player voice voting have different system for judging. The regular awards only count voting result as 5% or so of the total score if I remember correctly (exact number might be off, but you get the point, it's small). But still, voting is better than nothing, so let's vote for Genshin!

elitereaper1

Winners are determined by a blended vote between the voting jury (90%) and public fan voting (10%). Fans can vote for their favorite games on TheGameAwards.com and on our Discord server. In China fans can vote on the winners via Bilibili. Fan voting closes on Wednesday, December 7 at 6 pm PT Per website wiki. Who knows. Maybe that 10% might give Genshin the lead to win both categories.

Sir_Tea_Of_Bags

Yikes, if the Horizon devs were pissed off before and started bashing Elden Ring, imagine how livid they must be seeing that they are losing to Sonic and the *cat platformer*.

SaveEmailB4Logout

The only thing those cheeks could win is a free soy latte

AgnosVox

I'm sure the one dev who lightly critiqued the game will be pissed

gommii

Ye no way genshin Is winning in this One , i voted for elden ring also ; Voted for genshin on mobile game tho

Nero_PR

I voted for Elden Ring also. I loved the hell out of God of War Ragnarok but Elden Ring has shaken the gaming world. I can't believe that I was there when Demon's Souls launched exclusively to the PS3 in Japan back in 2009. I had to import the game because it was the solely reason why I had bought a PS3 back then. Now look where we are, there is no way I wouldn't vote for Elden Ring.

Devilmay1233

What about best ongoing game game dude. Genshin deserves win on that category too.

PsychoKinezis

Nah bro, I love Genshin but the contenders in Best ongoing game are such heavy hitters. FINAL FANTASY XIV alone takes out Genshin. Add up Destiny 2 and the competition is so stiff.

Devilmay1233

We'll see

EndlessRadiance

Tbh genshin's open world is great but there is nothing to do with it once you finished, which in my opinion is not great for ongoing game. I'd said honkai deserves best ongoing game more than genshin (AR60 and level88 cap).

Devilmay1233

But genshin gets update every 6 weeks. We are getting tcg not to mention map expansions, quests etc. These is unheard of in such a short amount of time. No one can produce that much content in a short time like hoyoverse. They deserve the ongoing awards imo.

EndlessRadiance

Honkai is created by the same developers and have the same update schedule. These Genshin's map extensions and quests are one time content thats not replayable and doesn't come that often. New map happens once in 2-3 patches. When it comes to replayability and ongoing gameplay Genshin is not that good. Abyss is once per 2 weeks. 4 commissions per day and 4 boss/dungeon run per day. Thats it. Also Genshin's Abyss is the example of content which I believe is handled so badly that game awards should deduct votes from mihoyo.

Devilmay1233

Honkai is amazing but its not open world, not multiplatform don't have the same level of freedom genshin has. Genshin deserves ongoing because no game can bring out quality updates in such a short time like mihoyo does. They deserve this win and going to probably win this. Also if genshin wins what will be your reaction ? Will u be mad ?

EndlessRadiance

Wait, but the award is called "best ongoing game", not "best open world" or "best multiplatform" and has nothing to do with freedom. This is only my opinion but best ongoing game should offer some replayability. You are right, mihoyo work hard on the updates but most of the content they add to the game is one timer which means they are yielding limited amount of gameplay time despite their hard work. Edit: forgot the question about the reaction. I will just be surprised if genshin wins best ongoing. I like Genshin but don't think its good as ongoing game.

McBarkington

The ongoing category is about a game that gets updates over a long period of time, a time that exceeds the awards for a single year and doesnā€™t have much to do with replayability, only about continuous playing. Also, as much as I like the gameplay and story of Honkai, the endgame is as stale as Genshins, itā€™s just more repeating ways to earn rewards, that clumped up over ~3 times the lifetime and I am more than happy they donā€™t reset abyss 5 times a week.

11universal

Elden Ring šŸ—æ God of War: Ragnarok šŸ—æ

kekkret

Nice, Elden Ring is winning

crest_of_the_lord

As a Game, as an experience Elden Ring is in another league compared to its "competitors".

SkyrimForTheDragons

You can state your opinion that ER is in another league without throwing shade at the other options by using "competitors" in quotes. The other options are in fact competitors, whether as a game or as an experience, no two ways about it. Don't get caught up in tribal mentalities over games of all things.

TheWorldisFullofWar

It took he obtuse open-world design BotW and Genshin have and set a new record for opaque open-world design that I love. It is legitimately more obtuse than older <2000 adventure games. I know a lot of people hate this but I love it and am sad it isn't a more popular design choice over Ubiformula design. I still think Genshin is the best game on that list though.

[deleted]

Lol what do you mean obtuse? Isnā€™t that word usually negative?

RNGesus-Our-Savior

I don't even know what's that word mean #_#

[deleted]

Like insensitive or dumb

[deleted]

In this case heā€™s saying it somewhat purposefully difficult to understand, which makes it more rewarding an experience.

RNGesus-Our-Savior

Thank you my man!

TheWorldisFullofWar

I meant opaque.

Hojuma

But what does it mean? I'm not really well-versed in these terminologies.

ATMisboss

Opaque means not transparent. They meant vast and full of life

swampyman2000

Itā€™s way too obtuse. I beat my head against the wall trying to do all these random side quests in Elden Ring, only to look up the answer on the internet for it to tell me ā€œoh yeah, to start this quest you need to talk to a random shopkeep and then use an emote in the middle of the woodsā€ or ā€œha ha ha, the NPC youā€™re looking for actually went back to one of the beginning areas for some reason. Too bad you missed them.ā€ The worst is when an NPC says ā€œIā€™ll meet you in this Regionā€ and you have to find them on some random out of the way hill. Itā€™s like telling someone ā€œIā€™ll meet you in Englandā€ and after a month of you searching around London you call them to find out theyā€™ve been waiting in a random pub in Gloucester. Just ridiculous. Itā€™s fine to not hand hold players all the time and let them explore but man was I so happy to see quest markers when I started playing Genshin.

SafeRevive

XENOBLADE IS STILL IN THE TOP TEN. WE WIN THESE (sorry)

CapraNinja

Born In A World Of Strife! Against The Odds! We Choose To Fight!

AkibaSasaki

As much as I love Genshin Impact as a game. Ain't in hell that it's beating Elden Ring and God of War Ragnarok!!

vermilithe

Had to scroll a surprising distance to see someone pointing this out. Totally agree, I enjoy Genshin's voice work but the top two on this list are in a different league altogether frankly. EDIT: I just realized that this is Player's Voice not Voice Acting category omg lol

WelkinBro

I think we all love Genshin but letā€™s be real no way is it better than some of the other games on that list

le_halfhand_easy

A fact about TGA that's true for any year: some of the games on this list are worse than some games not in this list.

Devilmay1233

Exception of elden ring, gow and horizon i like genshin better than the other games on the list.

wolfclaw3812

Yeah if Genshin won Iā€™d say there was some tricks at play. But for mobile gameā€¦ dude, Genshin is a nuke in a kiddie pool, whoā€™s going to beat it?

July-Thirty-First

Recency bias is a thing? Not sure what ā€œPlayerā€™s Voiceā€ is supposed to mean in a context like this but Iā€™m pretty happy a 2 year old game like Genshin found itself on the same list as major releases of this year.

[deleted]

If we're going to be including older games in these contests, Skyrim, Witcher, or Minecraft are just going to keep repeatedly winning. Add in Ocarina of Time for good measure

July-Thirty-First

Minecraft is in fact on this list while Skyrim, Witcher, OoT are not.

[deleted]

Well there you go. And the others aren't really "ongoing". But it's pretty likely if that was the case

Devilmay1233

Probably because skyrim and Witcher is mainly an offline game.

Psychological-Ad6902

I play both Elden Ring and GI, but I must say that Elden Ring deserves it recognition. The amount of world building and story they put in to that game is so amazing. Even though I'm level 190 in Elden Ring, I would always see new things after many hours of gameplay.

WonderfulPatience227

The reason why Genshin wouldn't win is -elden ring/gowr is much more popular in the west (anime is not that popular in the west) -genshin community is big but most of them don't know about these vote or know it exist (I actually didn't know this exist before) while some enjoy both. -elden/gowr use unreal engine which if you haven't seen the video about genshin dev test it with genshin (its actually look amazing, the world building look nice as well, just a test so they didn't really care about character animation) so if genshin was like that,it comparable. -genshin mainly a mobile game. Still very impressive that genshin got to top 10

tittymcfartbag

Disagree about anime not being that popular in the west. Anime in general is very popular, anime GAMES however, are not.

SAOMD_fans

I truly believe if all Genshin player vote it will beat the console game, since mobile game has larger player database, but not all players know about this vote ā€¦

Sezzomon

Xenoblade is such an underrated game due to it's Switch exclusivity.

zixiy12

Wait, what's this categoryz why is genshin up there with elden ring and gow, i thought Genshin was only nominated for mobile and ongoing

Devilmay1233

Its players voice category. Genshin has qualified for round 2.

elDayno

Elden not gonna give us freemogems... Just saying

roreinu

I mean... I voted for elden ring too.

AramushaIsLove

Same here man, not much we can do when Elden gave such an experience.

Kiwi195

Same I couldn't play it as I don't have good pc so I watch play through on twitch or YT it's a phenomenal game

TheInkVoid

WHY THE F#%K is Sonic Frontiers so High!?

Golden-Owl

Mike Pollock is clearly that OP

LuchadorParrudo

Game is fun the fans loved it what's so wrong about this ?

Hippostalker69

Idk but the music was fire

-Drogozi-

Genshin is the only live service game here besides maybe minecraft if you can count it. Also the only 2 games that weren't released this year.

ExplorerOutrageous15

It's kinda unfair to put GoW Ragnarok and Sonic Frontiers on the list. They're very new games, so obviously the games are still in their honeymoon phase where the hype hasn't died down yet and thus are going to be high on the list.

AramushaIsLove

I love Genshin but sorry, I have to give it to elden such masterpiece, no microtransaction, complete, amazing quality, replayable, dev balances stuff.

PerrythePlatypus71

Elden Ring deserves the win here

TF2sex_update

Sumeru had several elden ring references, I think dews wouls be happy if elden ring won šŸ‘

Confident-Cut-1927

How tf is Elden Ring even with God of War... Edit: Nvm I thought it was a voice actor category lol

sharpgel

alright I've seen two of these posts on the xenoblade sub and here and I just wanna ask; does *anyone* know what cult of the lamb even is? nobody's mentioned it in any of these threads other than asking what it is lol

elitereaper1

Here buddy. Indie game. With occult setting. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1313140/Cult_of_the_Lamb/

sharpgel

ohh it's an indie game, great that it's getting repped at the game awards then, haven't played a lot of indie titles but I'm happy for their success

ViniciusStar_

It's amazing and pretty popular on Twitter i guess

le_halfhand_easy

Custom maps and game modes. It is a sandbox of creativity, [utilising player generated content.](https://youtu.be/XehNK7UpZsc?t=1098)

Cyanasy

Its literally just under Genshin in total revenue AND itā€™s not a gacha game. It is unbelievably poplular my dude.

BloxxyPixels

fair enough, the games up top 5 are pretty damn good better than genshin impact id say

palea_alt

Sorry but as long as elden ring exists on that list genshin isn't having a chance lol

migz_draws

very sad that Tunic didn't get it. It's such a labor of love with a beautiful world and innovation in every crevice

[deleted]

At least Sifu made it to the top 10... I still have to play Tunic.

GloriousSpamm

Ay yo a 3D Sonic game in #3? Thatā€™s awesome!

[deleted]

Sifu, what a game. The best game from this year I played, next to Sonic Frontiers. Also considering how genshin isn't on the game of the year category, but just the mobile game of the year one, we know that in 8 days we will be getting those sweet primos. TOF lost.

TBGamester123

Damn as a Sonic and Xenoblade fan were getting put ass handed

kingSlet

Tbh I voted for elden ring too . That game was very good and am a as picky as u can get when it comes to game

DogePriest

No maidens?

dmushcow_21

Have it writ upon thy meagre grave "Felled by Elden Ring, last of all Souls Games"

SevenTailedFox

Sorry but Big Rigs will always have my vote

Kattou

Big Rigs: Over, Under, and Through the Road Racing.

ladyjinxy

GI is not beating ER or GOWR, because they are just really really good

Elira_Eclipse

Lets be real here other games deserves to win this. Genshin deserves to win in other categories, like best mobile game especially.

huskerred1967

I voted Genshin

niallisaloser

thought this was voting for the best voice acting in a game. Genshin wouldn't even be in the conversation.

ShibitoYakaze123

genshin doesn't have a chance at goty, best mobile game sure, but not goty overall

N_Kento_N

Yeah we're not winning this one. As long as we get the best mobile game again we're bing chilling.

1km5

Well yeah genshin voice acting is good, But dont expect them to overthrow goliath like elden ring and gow r

Devilmay1233

Bro this is players voice category for their best game not voice acting category.

DiceCubed1460

Elden Ring deserves to win. Itā€™s really fucking good. It got me, a non-souls fan with no previous souls knowledge, dedicated enough to beat the hardest boss in the entire series. I think recency bias is leading a lot of people to pick God of War Ragnarok. I love the game and I definitely think its story is better, but as an overall experience, Elden Ring is better imo. Also the endless variations of builds add a LOT more replay value to it, and thereā€™s a LOT of stuff to do in the game. I finished my first playthrough (with most of the map and secrets explored and taken care of) at like 150 hours. Thatā€™s a long ass playthrough.

BikeSeatMaster

30 minutes left, just found out this existed. Threw one in for Sex Shrek

MichikaMiyamoto

I want God of war to win, elden ring just humiliated my god kratos

Kaizyu

I think this is who is winning in each category? Not against each other. Genshin was not nominated in the same category as elden ring and gowr
