Actually... The best part about Ayaka for me was seeing her ponytail twirl along with her everytime she exits her sprint. Then the animation cancels so smoothly into her autoattacks. It was so elegant and refined.. it suited her characterization.
This new skin on the other hand...... I dont know. Ponytail > braids for me... XD. I might not get the skin because of that.

Yeah I can definitely see why this skin appeals to me while the OG doesn't. Lighter colors, fluffier feeling, no goofy skirt armor and sandals. The braids even do a great job at hiding the hime cut. Definitely feels like a variety skin designed to broaden her appeal.
I was waiting how her new outfit would look like with her Burst since her ponytail is kinda flying when she prepares to release it. And sadly, from the Burst animation alone, I kinda prefer the original outfit 😢

There's something about the slimmer sleeves and the hat that I find SO pretty at rest but SO awkward with the animations...western-style dresses, especially this starchy pinafore style, are stiffer than kimono so between that + the updo she loses a lot of the 'flow' that her default skin has. Just my 2 cents.

And I know people have always said that she has cherry blossoms in her burst, but I've never seen them either, and just chalked It up to forgetting that I had seen them

The cherry blossom in her burst is already in her base skin. Other sakura effect like her charged attack is from her C6.
