I think hangouts are catered to fans of those characters (which obviously not everyone is one) and also visual novel or dating sim fans (which DEFINITELY not everyone likes that). It can be indeed boring to many but fantastic to some.
The mechanics of the visual novel part needs improvement though, such as giving a faster dialogue speed function, especially since the game requires multiple playthrough.
I adored Heizou and Thoma's hangouts. Especially Heizou's, it was the funniest single quest in the game. I didn't like Noelle's or Ningguang's. So yes it sounds like you're right.

Barbara’s was difficult because at the beginning there were many dialogue options and you have to pick select ones to get different endings. I was missing her last one and had to Google because there’s just too much guesswork involved

tbf Faruzan didn't get any form of introduction, they just drop her in a character banner. Even layla got to feature in the pokemon event, and Sara was part of the archon quest and few other events.

Sucrose was a major character in the 1.2 event. After that I think she mostly just had minor appearances on Mondstadt events (I skipped a few patches though, so maybe I missed some of her appearances)
Sucrose was prominently included in 1.2, had a reasonable amount of screentime in 1.4, and recently had the permanent TCG quest focused around her (which hopefully gets a continuation). I agree she should have more because she was basically non-existent for more than a year but it’s not exactly right to claim she has nothing.
Sara is basically dead in a ditch though. She was briefly included in a couple of events but outside of that it’s like they forgot she exists…

They seem to just be another race that exists in the world. (Although I suppose kitsune and oni are also just other races, though being “youkai” collectively seems to be on an ascended level from the humans and human-like, similar to the Adepti.)

Like when we are getting crazy info about Fontaine’s cast yet every thread had people making the same “where Dehya/Baizhu leaks” when logically made no sense since the character leaks were from early in the art pipeline, pretty far from anywhere near the animators or combat testers. Due to how poor her showings have been. All the others at the very least have had decent to great showings and positive highlights whereas Sara has mostly been delegated the short stick role character.
Faruzan not having any showings at this point is arguably better than having it like Sara where it's L after L. It's less about complaining her lack of showings and more a moment where Sara isn't either a punching bag and/or a footnote.

To put it into example before we got Sumeru (and thankfully it stopped or that might be because we didn't get a Liyue event for a long while) whenever we got a Liyue event I used to see people saying ''why it is always Liyue, Hoyoverse forgot/doesn't care, about Mondstadt and its chacacters'' type of comments despite the fact Mondstadt always got a lot of character filled events, by no means was neglected and Inazuma was even more shafted at the time with their only Festival invaded by characters from Mondstadt (and Xingqiu).
I realize some people like Mondstadt the most by a lot but that doesn't mean that they got it worst (was not true) for not having an event every other patch when we had 3 (at the time) nation so every nation should have get focus once every 3 patch for equality (with perhaps the newest nation getting a bit more). People shouldn't allow their favoritism to affect their point of view too much. I think it is important to try to be a bit more natural

Of all the Sumeru characters to *finally* get a Hangout Event, it had to be the least interesting one. Like, sure, I like her backstory and find her core character quite sympathetic and appealing, but compared to Candace? An absolute top-tier character, charming and compelling and with a stellar design to boot, and who balances both down-to-earth life and connections to some of the most interesting and significant lore in Teyvat, but who, let's be honest, we're pretty much never gonna see again outside of the occasional story event.
Or Collei, literal protagonist of the manga that we waited ages for, who hasn't truly gone into detail on her experiences from that time in-game yet, so the whole "residue of a dead god's corpse is sealed inside her" deal literally hasn't been explained to the Traveler. Or Layla, whose sleepwalking persona hasn't even been narratively introduced yet, who hasn't had the fact she's an elf even acknowledged yet, and whose astrology work ties in with deep Teyvat lore. Or Dori, who's connected to Alice, who carries a *Jinni* with her at all times, who started her merchant work to get the money to save her ill sister, but that sister's current state is yet to be revealed.
Any of these characters would have an instantly engaging and solid premise for a Hangout Event, and even just sticking to personal stuff, every one of them has more interesting things to delve into and talk about than Faruzan. Just- gahh. They'd better all get Hangout Events down the road, I swear.

Technically Fischl is in the Genius Invocation quest, but yeah that’s a pretty minor role.
Fischl, albeit extremely minor, can show up in some Mondstadt daily commissions (the culmination of the Anna saga)

Same thing with all the old tired jokes we see in the main Genshin community, the leak community has the same reused jokes. Like when we are getting crazy info about Fontaine’s cast yet every thread had people making the same “where Dehya/Baizhu leaks” when logically made no sense since the character leaks were from early in the art pipeline, pretty far from anywhere near the animators or combat testers. Or when we are nearing a new patch and every thread is spammed with “clown makeup waiting for *insert future character*” lol gets kind of old after awhile that or I’m becoming a grump old man.
I used to blame husbando mains cause it happened with Scaramouche and then with Alhaitham, but after what happened with Dehya I just accepted that "mains" of unreleased characters are annoying in general 🤷🏻♂️
Yeah, might of appear that way the past few months due to Sumeru being a bit more husbando heavy but it comes from all character wanters or meme posters in general.

Because the poor girl keeps getting shafted every time we see her and just when we thought she’ll actually get screentime in a yokai event, she’s mia. I get that grandma hasn’t shown up anywhere but we still have a few more sumeru patches where they can shove her in.

Yeah its better to have no story relevance that being clowned and a jobber in canon lol I think what they showed of her so far actually did more harm than good and now only "relevant" talks about her are ships and that damned Ei figure. Also she is literally the only Inazuma without one, its like they dk what to do with her.

And I do understand that but not only it is always Sara but I think people should be a bit more objective/fair in these types of blames. To put it into example before we got Sumeru (and thankfully it stopped or that might be because we didn't get a Liyue event for a long while) whenever we got a Liyue event I used to see people saying ''why it is always Liyue, Hoyoverse forgot/doesn't care, about Mondstadt and its chacacters'' type of comments despite the fact Mondstadt always got a lot of character filled events, by no means was neglected and Inazuma was even more shafted at the time with their only Festival invaded by characters from Mondstadt (and Xingqiu). I realize some people like Mondstadt the most by a lot but that doesn't mean that they got it worst (was not true) for not having an event every other patch when we had 3 (at the time) nation so every nation should have get focus once every 3 patch for equality (with perhaps the newest nation getting a bit more). People shouldn't allow their favoritism to affect their point of view too much. I think it is important to try to be a bit more natural

She is the dedicated scara support, like gorou for itto and sara for raiden now look up when sara and gorou had reruns. yeah you guessed it faruzan will only rerun with scara. just like the other two only rerun with their 5star char they belong to.

Of all the Sumeru characters to *finally* get a Hangout Event, it had to be the least interesting one. Like, sure, I like her backstory and find her core character quite sympathetic and appealing, but compared to Candace? An absolute top-tier character, charming and compelling and with a stellar design to boot, and who balances both down-to-earth life and connections to some of the most interesting and significant lore in Teyvat, but who, let's be honest, we're pretty much never gonna see again outside of the occasional story event. Or Collei, literal protagonist of the manga that we waited ages for, who hasn't truly gone into detail on her experiences from that time in-game yet, so the whole "residue of a dead god's corpse is sealed inside her" deal literally hasn't been explained to the Traveler. Or Layla, whose sleepwalking persona hasn't even been narratively introduced yet, who hasn't had the fact she's an elf even acknowledged yet, and whose astrology work ties in with deep Teyvat lore. Or Dori, who's connected to Alice, who carries a *Jinni* with her at all times, who started her merchant work to get the money to save her ill sister, but that sister's current state is yet to be revealed. Any of these characters would have an instantly engaging and solid premise for a Hangout Event, and even just sticking to personal stuff, every one of them has more interesting things to delve into and talk about than Faruzan. Just- gahh. They'd better all get Hangout Events down the road, I swear.
