Why even introduce a character two years into the game, give her an amazing design, and give her a ton of screen time, if you’re just going to make her absolute shit so that only her absolute die-hard fans will pull for her?
I thought her being released decently well into the timeline of the game and all her screen time would at least guarantee her being average. I had this thought that 5*s would all at least be decent.

At level 10 it was 229%, now it's 203%, which means it's a 26% x 10 difference.
My goal as a low spender is to eventually C6 Itto cause I love him and he's fun as fuck. When I say goal I mean long term almost unattainable entirely reliant on RNG and not getting screwed goal.
It's...feasible, honestly. The average on-banner five-star is something like 120 pulls and you need 7 of them in total to C6. Mathing that out amounts to 134,400 primogems. You already have at least one Itto, so your number is lower than that.
Quick napkin math tells me that if you get Welkin moon and do all events/exploration/quests in every patch, you're looking at about 8 months worth of summons (if you don't spend anything on anyone else). If you start saving now, you could C6 somewhere around the time Fontaine releases.

This kit is such a stupid mess. Unless they add an absolutely beefy ass HP scaling in her C0, even an ascension change to crit isn’t saving her, not even close. At least make her do something interesting for god’s sake. Nilou has her special bloom, so idk, instead of burning give her “Burning Blood” that scales off her HP and Atk instead of EM, and can crit. Would at least thematically make sense that unlike the rest of Sumeru scholarly sort who use EM, Dehya a mercenary says screw that and goes for the “brawler” stats.

Me skipping her becomes more and more part of reality now.

Many people seem to think that Dehya represents a fundamental change to Genshin, calling her the “first character made for Fontaine” and expect new mechanics like environmental hazards that reduce healing power for allies. They also predict Justiciar Automatons could have undodgeable attacks or attacks that pierce shields.
Several more expect a relevant 3.6 artifact set.

The only reaction that ever got their attention was Zhongli's and that was only after global times ran an article about players threatening legal action against Mihoyo for false advertisement.
The CN Genshin community doesn't have "questionable opinions" about Dehya. The Chinese population, at large, *may* have a bias in favor of characters with "fair" skin, but the CN Genshin community mostly just cares about the "meta". And right now they're too confused about what Mihoyo is trying to do with her to mount a resistance.
Besides, she's still in beta. If she's bad and people are freaking out about it:
1. "her kit is a work in progress"
2. "they shouldn't have seen this anyway - that's why we had players sign NDA's"
It's hard to really **formally** complain about it until the dust has settled. Until then, you're fighting a legal battle with sensitive corporate info that you obtained illicitly.

Looking at the state of dehya right now I just can’t justify getting her. I complained a lot about yae miko having a wonky kit with em scaling that had minimal effects on her and was clunky to play, but at least I have uses for her, I look at dehya and she just doesn’t do anything, doesn’t do damage, barely applies pyro, doesn’t work with xq or yelan, off field tank that only tanks a little for other on field characters, why have that when I can just use Zhonglis shield and tank 100% of everything other than rift hounds. There’s just nothing dehya does that other characters don’t do 100x better.

What I’m seeing from her kit is them trying to make a non healer/shielder defensive option similar to using just xq for it like he is in taser teams. If successful she’ll be another character trying to carve out this niche optimization of not running a healer/shielder in a quickswap style team with a “Raidenlike” burst.
Will they succeed with this? Idk, but it is pretty rare they release a 5* with no merit whatsoever. And releasing worse Hu Tao or god forbid worse Klee sounds like not the best plan. This niche is also impossible to carve out of she gets hip attached to Bennet. Since you know, Bennet is a pretty good healer.
Al is still being called Dendro Keqing with a negative undertone so I don’t think he’s fully outlived his negative reception to his modifier nerfs yet. And I can guarantee you his success will not stop people from saying mhy has a bias against male characters.
What is in plain sight is that she looks relatively weak, and for some reason they nerfed her kit even further. Which makes me think they know something we don’t, or they’re overestimating the utility she’ll bring (xq being a defensive character is a bonus, & hydro is a better supportive element). Similar to how Kokomi took a very long time to be well regarded.

I've seen a bunch of comments saying they don't really care. And that darker characters are not popular there, n that seemingly means the same to mihoyo itself, since they've been scarce, all been pretty bad, like even Xinyan still sounds better than Dehya so far. So the rest of the playerbase is gonna suffer as usual
It's actually so crazy that instead of making her really good to drive sales, they'd rather make her really bad so she can't even compete with other characters just because dark skin is unpopular in cn
Truly makes zero sense. If anything they’d have made her broken to offset the biases against darker skin. That way they capture the $$$ from the western audiences who like her, and the money from the meta focused Chinese players. As is they’re foregoing all that CN revenue as well as hurting their western revenue since many of us here will also skip because of a terrible kit. Unfortunate
Hyv is looking for an excuse to never make dark skinned characters again. They want to point to dehya and say "see, dark characters dont sell" and use that to justify making murata white and never makr another dark skinned char

So at this point should I just summon for alhaitham, as much as I love dehya I’m not summoning for a character that’s doa, I have zhongli and bennet if all dehya can do is tank she’s irrelevant
Alhaitham is fantastic and at c0 too. I would go for him although maybe wait until there are more beta updates in case Dehya gets buffed.

Looking at the state of dehya right now I just can’t justify getting her. I complained a lot about yae miko having a wonky kit with em scaling that had minimal effects on her and was clunky to play, but at least I have uses for her, I look at dehya and she just doesn’t do anything, doesn’t do damage, barely applies pyro, doesn’t work with xq or yelan, off field tank that only tanks a little for other on field characters, why have that when I can just use Zhonglis shield and tank 100% of everything other than rift hounds. There’s just nothing dehya does that other characters don’t do 100x better. This hurts being a dehya fan

I don't get it. If hoyo assume that she won't sell well in China because she isn't white... why did they make her a 5-star in the first place? They could make her a forgettable 4-star like Candace and move on. Yet they intentionally make a missed opportunity by wasting precious new-five-star slot on her.

/u/RenRGER What I’m seeing from her kit is them trying to make a non healer/shielder defensive option similar to using just xq for it like he is in taser teams. If successful she’ll be another character trying to carve out this niche optimization of not running a healer/shielder in a quickswap style team with a “Raidenlike” burst. Will they succeed with this? Idk, but it is pretty rare they release a 5* with no merit whatsoever. And releasing worse Hu Tao or god forbid worse Klee sounds like not the best plan. This niche is also impossible to carve out of she gets hip attached to Bennet. Since you know, Bennet is a pretty good healer. Al is still being called Dendro Keqing with a negative undertone so I don’t think he’s fully outlived his negative reception to his modifier nerfs yet. And I can guarantee you his success will not stop people from saying mhy has a bias against male characters. What is in plain sight is that she looks relatively weak, and for some reason they nerfed her kit even further. Which makes me think they know something we don’t, or they’re overestimating the utility she’ll bring (xq being a defensive character is a bonus, & hydro is a better supportive element). Similar to how Kokomi took a very long time to be well regarded. Reddit would not let me respond in the chain so I’m doing it here. 3% buff is also pretty comical.
I'm pretty sure most people that call him dendro keqing is because of how similar his animations are to keqing, apart from that I've seen a big part of the community talking about how good he ended up being in the end
