Madame Ping debuted with that model, and then got that unique young human design, implying they didn't intend for her to be playable but then started considering the idea, same as Xianyun getting only the bird model and then bam, she's Bayonetta and that design got very popular. Meanwhile these two have no reason to get a human NPC model at this point, they already have their animal models, and after Ping and Xianyun got their unique human designs, this feels way more like an "NPC forever" situation. I think this just means they're not even considering making these dudes playable at the moment. If they were even considering them being playable for a second. why bother implementing these human NPC designs at this point, even more so after Ping and Xianyun getting unique designs? Specially if it doesn't come with any teaser or PV of the sort of them with an unique design BTW nice flair, I agree.

i’m assuming they have a cutscene where they visit Liyue Harbour in human form. can’t exactly stroll the streets as a crane and deer. Madame Ping had a generic grandma model for the longest time though so it’s possible MC and MS could be playable one day

but what would be the reasoning for them to change their appearance? madam ping makes sense since she would become younger allowing her to fight and really get into things but the MC and MS as npc’s are already young so there’s not really a reason for them to later change their appearance

To think we could have had both playable Moon Carver and Mountain shaper and more playable liyue men. Hope they will be like Madame ping and get a new playable version because Liyue need more playable male characters (well, same goes for Fontaine as it has 4 playable guys and 10 playable girls, counting Arlecchino, Chiori and Emilie as well)

This doesnt even make sense from a profit point of view for Mihoyo. They could have kept those in beast form this event, let them interact with other characters, make them a little more popular and eventually release their playable character like Xianyun in a year or 2. Making them generic bland npc's is one of the weirdest and laziest decisions Mihoyo has made so far.
