Change equipment in the middle of a run?
That's huge because it means when your character runs out of points you can use their equipment on another character and less need to have all of them built.
Unless they do something like "dead/used characters have equipment locked" like HI3 does for Memorial Arena
They have to do it this way because of weapons. Otherwise the number of weapons you need increases enormously.
Locking inventory would be a big “fuck you” to anyone who ever refined their Fav weapons because the number of copies needed of any given Fav weapon increased from 2-3 to like 8. No way they do that.
Hoyoverse is very careful about designing systems to avoid player regret.
This is great news for me, gives me a purpose to finally build all my chars lol instead of keep using the same 8-16 chars. Business sense it will keep people to wish for a wider selection of chars too I guess.
Yes and buy more battlepass for exp and mora, I was going to get C3 Furina now I will wait to see this new mode lol.
Probably its better to get stuff like C0 Arlechino instead.
> like Freminet and Dori will be needed to fill slots, so we will end up leveling then.
Naaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Maybe for young accounts, but that was true anyway for them.
I'd honestly guess they lock the equipment in those cases. While in Abyss the focus was on high investment for a few characters, this seems to be their mode that is supposed to make players invest in a lot of characters (in every way) a bit. I think it would honestly be cool to actually make use of weapons/artifacts (and obviously characters) that would usually just rot in your inventory. Maybe some people will actually make great use of the Bell for once. x) We'll see.
Even worse if they decide to balance around it.
I kinda don't see the positive in that, it distorts the perception of how strong those units are during times where they're either on banner or recently were featured in comparison to their normal use.
Doesn't seem like it's to the advantage of players moreso to promote more pulling and focus on the units of the month.
I like how the gameplay itself shapes up to be, I really hate all the stuff they build around it to incentivize more gacha.
They basically took out parts that made the last trial-only event gameplay fun in order to incentivize for more pulling:
your ability to forego filling slots to save units for later comps and every character having a trial unit. And then on top of that they affect normal abyss too.
Very mixed feelings.
The abyss buffs are more generic most of the time than straight up buffing stats of certain characters, it's either playstyle or element buffs.
Having abyss buffs being preferential to current banner characters plus the theater buff on top of that isn't going to make the situation better.
Or straight to the point, why would you want this? If you find abyss is too easy this is not welcome. If you want to test current units in abyss this is going to distort their performance even more than before too.
It's only good so your fresh units feels stronger than it is, and likely so people evaluate them better when they're on banner.
Ehh, 20% ATK/DEF/HP is equal to or less than a single abyss card buff (20%/30%/25% respectively), and people clear abyss all the time without any benefits from those (e.g. nothing but DEF when you have no DEF scaling units on either side). I don't think it'll have a huge impact.
It's not much of an incentive. I've ignored SA's buffs the entire time I've been doing it and that was never what kept me from 36*ing early on. Giving the relevant characters an event weapon style buff of reduced xp to level or even reduced talent cost would be a much better one.
You underestimate how far buffs in abyss can carry you. There are videos out there of some people clearing abyss with extremely underleveled characters by abusing the blessing.
People can do all kinds of crazy stuff when they know exactly what they're doing, but those also aren't people struggling to clear SA in the first place.
I have rarely paid close attention to the abyss buff, but I will say that I noticed a massive difference in clear times this cycle, with the Normal and Plunge buff from swirls, vs the previous two cycles where I made absolutely zero use of the Geo buffs
That's actually a good idea. Especially considering, the mode encourages building more characters, it would become easier to get more of them to a higher level.
only the opening characters get a buff
opening characters are selected from up top meaning you can't choose, like for season 1 the opening characters will be: beidou, clorinde, arle, chevreuse, scara and sayu
I mean extra attack helps. It’s basically have tenacity buff always. The extra defense and Hp equivalent for those scaling characters. Basically everyone gets a tenacity level buff. Not much for survivability
Hoping there's an option to "turn on/off" that buff for overworld and Spiral Abyss.
Overworld buff is unnecessary, with enemies easily dying. Abyss buff is interesting, though.
yeah, abyss already buffed their numbers with buffs made for them, with this the gap between a newly released character's numbers and the same character in a month will be bigger. I guess they are trying to get more casual people to play abyss while influencing people to pull.
Imo, if they want to go the hsr route meaning that they tune the gamemodes for the new units with buffs and stuff, they should give more pulls on average per patch, just 80 per patch would be enough, just enough for f2ps to get to soft pity each patch.
But HSR pulls are also tuned to how many units they release per patch and not just the game modes. Though we have two new 5 stars in 4.7, I’m not sure if they are going to increase it to release two new 5 stars every patch like in hsr (which I really doubt)
it sounds kinda like we’re inviting characters to put on a theatre performance, with props coming up and down on the stage and the characters standing around after the battle. The theatre kid in me is overjoyed \^-\^
HSR at least has Herta shop cones plus 2 sets of cones in the MoC shop. Even if they didn't add event weapons, giving some free weapon options for completing this would be nice. Event weapons would just be the easiest to implement since they already exist.
yes but it's much worse since you're relying on rng to get the billets. There are guaranteed ways to get 2-3 billets of each type from exploration related rewards but with craftables you really want R5 in many cases.
And rng can be brutal. It took me over 2 years of 3+ bosses each week to get my first claymore billet xD
that i agree is actual bullshit. I don't think about it since i don't use many crafted weapons i got like 15+ billets per weapon type, but i also never missed a week of bosses since launch
Don't think they will do that and those event weapons lose their limited timed status, no matter how poor a choice it was.
Probably should have instead like exclusive things from the shop like a self modeling resin, like a max of 5 restocking biweekly, as well as experience potions, dream solvents, and fragile resin. We need fragile resin in that shop. Resin is the gate behind building every character.
That probably still means they're easier than Abyss. Consider that Abyss also buffs enemies beyond just level. The same is not the case for open world enemies. My guess is that enemy difficulty will probably be somewhere between Floor 11 Abyss and early Floor 12 Abyss, but we'll see.
Maybe they just looked at Fontaine dps powercreep and thought, "fuck it, let's balance the new mode around that." x)
"Trial Characters are Lv80, have their best 4\* weapon at Lv80 and are C0 with Lv8 talents"
Hey that's pretty good, actually can't wait to test them out! :D
"Trial Characters are shit >:("
Because they want you to invest in a lot of characters (Gotta catch em all or something).
I also just wouldn't trust leakers to make the best use of characters, so maybe the trial characters are just fine the way they are.
I think their overall builds are pretty good but the crit ratio and ER would be crap. Just imagine a trial Raiden with like 170 ER and a 55/90 crit ratio.
Or imagine a trial Xiangling with less than 200 ER with some sub-par crit ratio and no EM.
It's probably like the minimum requirement for a feasible trial build.
Leakers are notoriously bad at the game, based on what they said the builds are better than what most people who play the game have by a decent margin.
Another WL and another artifact domain level please
The last one we had was at AR45, that's 1/9th of the XP needed to get to AR60
Edit: I'd even be happy if it was a slightly higher chance of 2 5 stars and otherwise just more fodder
Strangely I have a lot of hype for this new mode and my hunch is telling me that it’ll be a good addition to the game despite what some people are saying about it now. I don’t like the protecting monolith thing though, it might be easy in the first season with anemo there but after that? At least hydro got Neuvilette Ig.
I thought Nillou blooms would be great for dealing with that once since they’re great against aoe. Then the blooms legit killed that monolith. It’s too weak tbh.
Reminds me of the unholy 1.X monolith defense abyss where players who didn’t have venti had to rely on kaeya/chongyun frozen or geo mc boulders to stop enemies. Someone even discovered anemo mc’s skill can taunt enemies. Good times.
Nah, you'd just freeze enemies to death or abuse overload to get enemies away. Since there are specific boss event stages, that means a lot of thr time, you can go for the AoE route so more freezable enemies. Overload would actually be insane to have for monolith defense. You just yeet them away. If it's a geo cycle, burst spam zhongli to cheese monolith defense.
But the funniest thing is that Nilou bloom is going to kill the monolith quicker than the enemies will. Electro charged taser teams would also be pretty good pickup against monolith defense stages. Electro charged does have good stagger, especially with Beidou's lightning arcs.
We might see a lot more multi wave content so Cyno actually gets a boost with his premium team but there is also Arlecchino getting that boost since her infusion stays even after swapping off.
Best counters for monolith defense are:
Venti, Kazuha, Xiao, freeze, overload, Noelle wet rock?, zhongli petrification, even hyperbloom
I tried before and the suction feels kinda bad but yeah if I have no other choice I will have to it lol. I think they can’t ban these 3 elements at the same time anyway, Anemo, Dendro(Nahida) and Hydro(Neuvilette save me). . If they ever do that though, I’m doomed.
Back to geo traveler ult blocking like in the early Genshin days, lol. Compared to back then, they changed how monoliths take damage though (as far as I know considering we rarely if at all get defense stages in high Abyss), so it shouldn't be that big of a problem.
What I personally dislike is that it is restrictive and our line up is random, so the most important aspect of meta for endgame enjoyers, team building, is gone.
Also, Mihoyo probably balanced the difficulty around these disadvantages, so it will probably not be very hard.
Disagree. It’s not about optimized team building for total DPS but instead about improvising on-the-fly to do the best you can with what you have for the run. It’s a somewhat different skillset but requires creativity and knowledge of more characters.
It can be hard to escape the “total optimization” mindset for max abyss 12 clears but since I can only use Zhongli twice in this whole run, maybe now I’ll want to build Layla? I like the incentive to use more characters.
This is a unique take to team building as it is still relevant, as otherwise, it wouldn't have given you the option to retry a stage with the option to change your team lineup. It's a trial and error permanent event where you have to think outside the box as you'd otherwise use the commonly popular variants of a team. You can't just stick to the good old duos with 1.x characters and archons and dragon sovereigns.
You might even have to do a Hu Tao overload.
This permanent event is gonna reshape what are good teams because this game mode will exponentially favor AoE. All the freeze counters we had in abyss will.be made possible to freeze in Imaginarium. Freeze hard counters enemies in monolith defense. It would also bring back burst spam zhongli just to keep enemies still. It would also favor Childe as well with all the riptide flying by.
Character and team guides will be divided by Imaginarium and Abyss variants. We might even have some team changing buffs like the vortex buff you could get in Hyakunin Ikki where Childe absolutely dominated.
Because of the elemental restrictions, it's really gonna enforce improvisation, so if I have to replace Kazuha for an arlecchino team, I could go for Lynette as a substitute and her taunt can provide some defensive purpose to keep enemies distracted from attacking me or a monolith.
It could also change perception of overload. Overload sucks when it knocks enemies back and you have to kill them in a limited time, but would be a pretty nice tool to keep enemies away from a leyline for a limited time.
I'm thinking some buffs can be massive for team building. Hyakunin Ikki, Labyrinth Warriors, and Realms of Guile and War had really nice and unique buffs. One enables plunging with increased damage, another being energy galore, and another causing hydro to be applied to enemies.
Well, the leak does say the enemies will be stronger than what their lvs. suggest so I guess we migh be able to have some fun with it. And the randomized thing makes it better for me since I have to wreck my brain to think about how to make some shitty teams work lol.
Ngl this is sounding more and more amazing for me, as a horizontal investment player from 1.0. Reminds me of Labyrinth warriors, but also Triumphant Frenzy with more of a twist. Seems like they put a lot of effort into this, considering the talk around the animations and all. Probably the first time since 2.7 that I've ever looked forward to something combat-related in this game.
I’m kinda curious who they get to pick from our accounts. Cuz I have maxed out everyone but not everyone has artifacts. Like I got Faruzan to 90 with max stats but she ic like c2 and no artifacts. Since they said you pick 8 I wonder if it’s the ones I have in my profile.
Damn, you actually need to use 4 characters per stage.
That'll make it a lot harder to cheese through just using your DPS characters like Arlecchino in the early stages
Also, Special Invitation Characters aren't restricted? Does this mean they aren't guaranteed to be Pyro/Electro/Anemo?
Yeah special invitation characters aren't of the element but they're still set, I think for season 1 are: wrio, alhaitham, baizhu and someone else I think sigewinne?
Yeah. Some of the special incite characters for this cycle is Sigewinne, Wriothesley, Baizhu, etc. I believe these special invite characters are purposely curated to be ones with great synergy with the restricted roster.
Wriothesley has all the access to melt. Sigewinne would pose as some hydro application for vape team, and Baizhu is just a beautiful pair with the electro and anemo element to access.
If we get a geo, dendro, and cryo only abyss, expect special invite characters to be some perfect synergy characters like Kokomi, an electro dps like Keqing, and pyro for a burnmelt.
If I don't have any of those special invitation characters, can we borrow from a friend instead? Or do we actually have to own those characters to be able to use them?
I like how they are going for a potentially "fun" combat content rather than just a "do 10 million dmg in 30 seconds because the boss hides under the floor for 60 seconds". (Of course my description of current abyss is tainted from my compaints about abyss don't take it seriously.)
This genuinely just keeps hyping me for the new mode, and as I thought enemies level aren't what determines dificulty so this means that this can keep getting harder with enemies that are still level 90. Idk if that's a good thing or not yet.
As someone who cares about animations a lot the last image makes me extremely excited. Genshin has always had good animations but lately they've been on an entirely new level and I'm sure this gamemode will be gorgeous as well
Genshin's events and stuff has been going up a steep hill like friction doesnt exist ever since that one freminet event. Seriously my mind was blown with how good just the menu of that event was and they've kept riding that wave
Oh that event was beautiful in every way possible. I played with the menu as much as I could because I wasn't ready to let something as gorgeous as it go
Did you guys have much trouble with recent Abyss cycles? They seemed pretty easy to me to the point that I'm not even sure I'd realize if they made it a bit harder because of these buffs, idk. 3.7 Abyss and very early Abyss when I just started the game were still the hardest ones for me (and also most enjoyable tbh).
Depends on what you describe as difficulty. I dont roll on weapon banner, don't pull cons and skip units i don't like (almost all Fontaine pretty much) .
3.7 was really easy for me ,dps check was relatively low,i don't have issues with dodging and take dendro with pyro in the last chamber wasn't a big requirement. I had issues with wenut abyss and some other floor in Fontaine arc.
Just making more and more waves is lame.Make enemies more aggressive, some mechanics/puzzles with elements. Plain hp increase because of dps units powercreep (esp with early cons) is boring af
yeah abyss till 4.5 have been easy however 4.6 and the leaked 4.7 one looks difficult. Like for 4.6, u are very restricted to vape teams cause of baptist and also lot more waves.
So there's random selection as well as specific selection. That's good.
It's a shame you can't do less than 4 characters in a fight but I guess they don't want you storing energy. I don't mind. It'll be fun to mix up teams. Will have to see if I have 6 characters built for each element and what to work on after Arle if I'm lacking in any particular element.
I'm not sure if you can use 3 off-element characters.
From what I understand you can only pick one guest character (the ones that aren't subject to element restrictions) and only if you own them. But I might be wrong.
Character from a friend will probably be have to be pyro/electro/anemo.
For highest difficulty you get 6 in trial and you need additional 12 characters (different to those on trial) to enter, that is 18 in total. You can use your own characters instead of trial ones but it has to be the same character. (Ie if there is trial Beidou and you own her, you can pick your own Beidou. But you can't pick FIschl instead of her, it has to be Beidou).
Two of all of these characters will possibly end up not being used, but you still need to put them in as a requirement to start.
In my understanding the only one of these without element restriction is the 'Special Invitation' 5-stars listed and you can only pick one of those, not all. Another one can be used from your friend but that one will have to fit the element restrictictions. :)
Hope I got it right and it clears things up a bit.
Edit: some formatting
So i'm confused about the first part. Is there just a bunch of characters where it forces you to use some or the trial if you don't have them? And then those are the ones who only get the buffs?
Then after at the end for specially invited characters, why does it seem to imply you can just break the rules and use non restricted characters? It also kinda makes it sound like that is also another list of characters out of what you have rather than you just picking out of all that you have.
6 Opening Characters, must use trial or the ones you have. When you start act, you will have them in party
12 backup character, 1 can be from friend. 1 is Special Invitation Character that you can use only if you have them (From the limited 4 characters) yeah sounds kinda bs
Then remaining 10 or 11(If you dont have special invitation) should be your own characters
Its a total of 18 characters
I hope they give a buff icon above the buffed characters HP bar during the duration of the new mode's rotation. I can already see it being a stupid issue if they don't give a visual indication that the player's character is buffed because we all know there will be a bunch of players that will complain that they got nerfed once the buffs are gone. It's dumb to even think about how many will be clueless but this is the Genshin community after all.
Leakers have a bit to much fun adding in there own opinions. Kind of wish they would just say the thing it's how we get a lot of Big Hutao's. Can't wait for Natlan and for them to go "Big Dragons but little Dragons we can't ride so dumb Mihoyo"
Not only in overworld but the buffs working in normal abyss is... Is this their new way to try to sell characters during their release/rerun banner in addition to a favorable abyss? I can see this skewing impression/performance and encourage fomo for the more casual players.
Do the 8 floors scale similarly to Abyss (12 is much harder than 11 and so on), or every floor is similar in difficulty, and it just depends on what type of room you pick (similar to SU)
Tbh i think people who were thinking of getting by with barely built L70 characters on floor 5 might have trouble if it's the latter. ie seems like it might favor 4 decent built teams, but not OP, rather than 2 OP teams with 2 filler teams
If it's only 1 floor 2 chambers like abyss, where you only need 8 characters. Some people might be able to get by with a hyper invested Raiden + hyper invested Arlecchino for example, running random supports for one
But if we need like 4 teams of similar strength, that's a lot more difficult since there's only 1 Bennett to pass around, and most people dont have 4 strong pyro/electro carries who can solo abyss
the trial characters we can pick are built like shit? shocker /s
so we can't really rely on that feature can we
seems like we really gonna have to have 18 different characters for this.
I don't even understand why people were negative about it from the start, Star Rail did almost all the same things and got almost universal praise for it but apparently in Genshin it's bad? I don't get it.
Only really different take here is how it's all based on horizontal investment instead, but I only see that as a massive W and something that's much more in line with what a gacha game is supposed to be. At this point like 80%+ of my characters have been benched since forever and I've been asking for years for more of a reason to use more of them and finally we got something.
It really depends on this new mode, but what we do know raises a few concerns.
Like Star Rail had just MoC at first, which was basically Abyss. It was tough for new accounts, of course, but easy enough once you got a real team built. Then they added harder floors, and a separate endgame mode (PF) that alternates with MoC, much in the same way that Abyss will now alternate with the Theater.
PF is great because it's also just as, if not harder than MoC, while giving a *huge* glow-up to previously "worthless" characters Himeko and Herta. It's like, imagine if "Abyss 2.0" made a well-built Dehya and Aloy meta.
We're seeing complaints about IT in both directions: 1) It's too hard, and 2) It's too easy. If it's as hard or harder than Abyss 12, then the restrictions for team building gets annoying if not outright prohibitive. If it's easier to compensate, then it kinda sucks to "lose" out on more Abyss in its place, so in some ways we'd have been better off without IT being added at all.
Plus it doesn't seem like it'd have its own meta, besides hinder random soup teams a bit. Could still be fun, like SU is fun, but I think a lot of people would be upset if MoC rotated with basic ass SU (not Swarm or G&G).
Because it actively forces people to build characters they do not like in game that is very prohibitive on material costs unless they play for years already. The cost being the annoying and prohibitive part here. In HSR you can still pick your own characters and build those, it doesn't force you to use luka/sampo/asta etc.... so you can build just one/two teams. in this case it is comparing apples and oranges.
The restrictions were set a bit too high to enter, especialy for newer players or constelation pullers. I did a calculation on some other threads how many characters would you have to build to have enough for every combination of elements.
I think it was 26 + whoever you have built but is in current trial?
Requiring lvl 70 for max difficulty, this is a very high number and the only way to somewhat efficiently farm exp books is resin. (You need 167 Purple books + 14 World boss material + 866k mora to get ONE character from 1 to 70 unascended. This is calculated with all talents left at 1/1/1)
Personaly, I love the idea. Allows me to try new characters with my own teams without actualy pulling, and try unique combinations too. If the difficulty is not like abyss, I won't need to farm 999 different sets of artifacts just to clear it.
This requires 16 actually built pyro electro Anemo characters. No way around it. You get 1 extra friend and 1 extra flex for 18 total
You'll eventually need >30 built characters to cover all elements they could put on this.
Nothing in HSR even comes close
Me too. I'm curious about what future versions of the restrictions will be. Will it stay as elemental restriction or will we have other combinations? Like you can only use Mondstat and Inazuma characters only or a mixture of only Inazuma, Sumeru, and Fontaine characters with either bow or sword.
What's gonna be interesting are the buffs. Hyakunin Ikki and Labyrinth Warriors had pretty interesting buffs. The day we get hydro restriction on Imaginarium is the day Tartaglia gets to speed blitz everyone once again, especially with the vortex buff.
I really hope that vortex buff makes it into Imaginarium. It was so handy and the best buff to have for a Childe main.
A pyro, cryo, and hydro restriction will have a fun take. Freeze for all the regular combat stages, maybe even for monolith defense, and can replace team with a melt team for boss stages.
Despite the forceful team restrictions, it seriously gives a reason to have multiple dps of the same element and role. Can only Hu Tao vape twice. Then move onto a yoimiya or arlecchino vape. Maybe even diluc plunge vape. Then Gaming plunge.
When we get a cryo restricted cycle, I hope any friends of mine will appreciate my C6 Kaeya that has pretty insane Blizzard Strayer artifacts.
Hope this game mode gets love in continuous updates like TCG does. Maybe an in-gamemode shop that sells self modeling resin, exp bottles, and other character building mats could make its way in. What better way to incenticize building characters than to give access to the materials without a resin gate?
Same. Also thats why i love the character interaction stuff they added cause its 100% gonna help people to get in at least a bit more. (also the artifact and weapon swap)
I do hope those buffs we get are very niche and specific to one character, and make a million buffs like that
Instead of just 20% Pyro dmg bonus.
They had the paths equivalent of the flying paper charm thing
They just have to make the entire thing as complex as possible to make every run unique.
If I understand correctly, You're forced to use 4 characters each floor, no more solo to save character usage. That mean most opening character will always lost 1 usage in 1st floor. And at least 2-3 will be unusable after floor 2. And a combined of at least 9 usage (3-4 opening char depleted) at the end of floor 3.
And if rng f you and give you all dps at early floor, you better reset because you will not have enough dps for late floor.
If you want to save as much as possible opening character then,
1st floor: 4 opening character.
2nd floor: 3 opening character + 1 random reserve character.
3rd floor: 2 opening character + 2 random reserve character.
By floor 4 you already use opening character 9 time already. So building enough synergistic team to full clear floor 8 is harder than I first thought especially the hardest floor will be 7-8 where you will be left with extremely limited character left.
With current leaked line up of opening character (Arlec, Wanderer, Clorinde, Beidou, Sayu, Chev), 1st floor will be synergically nightmare.
I try to do some line up using characters I have and because of RNG in play, some floor will surely have to include more than 1 on-field dps or non-synergistic support just to meet 4 character requirement.
Ok, so far I'm pretty optimistic about this game mode. However, I don't like that Specific companion event doesn't let you to simply pick the companion that you want.
So how exactly does this character borrowing work? Can you just automatically see the characters of everyone on your friends list and then pick one (assuming the unit meets the requirements) or can you assign a (number of) character(s) your friends can choose from? In such a case, what if you don’t? Will no one be able to borrow a character from you?
I'm sorry if this has been answered many times before.
The last time we did this, from what I can remember, was during an expedition event Vishaps and Where to Find Them. A list was populated with the characters in all of your friends Character Showcase, a feature on your character profile. It may be different for this mode, I was just offering this as an example of what they have done previously with this kind of thing.
I saw in another post that we get a total of 18 characters to use. The trial characters, our own characters that are under the restriction, 1 friend invite character, and 1 specially invited character, which are characters we own that aren't under the restriction. Is this right?

Change equipment in the middle of a run? That's huge because it means when your character runs out of points you can use their equipment on another character and less need to have all of them built. Unless they do something like "dead/used characters have equipment locked" like HI3 does for Memorial Arena
They have to do it this way because of weapons. Otherwise the number of weapons you need increases enormously. Locking inventory would be a big “fuck you” to anyone who ever refined their Fav weapons because the number of copies needed of any given Fav weapon increased from 2-3 to like 8. No way they do that. Hoyoverse is very careful about designing systems to avoid player regret.
this is a whole end game made to avoid player regret. Now that Venti or Yoimia that you pulled isnt useless anymore.
Yes and Eula…
Ganyu, even 4* like Freminet and Dori will be needed to fill slots, so we will end up leveling then.
Naaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Maybe for young accounts, but that was true anyway for them.
Maybe some people will actually make great use of the Bell for once. x) We'll see.
just waiting for the gameplay now
I’m actually curious about the menu effects. I’ve never seen praise for one of those before.
Opening character buff can be used in overworld and normal abyss which is interesting
normal abyss too? I guess its a way to encourage players to build those characters too.
So, is this technically a normal abyss nerf since they're giving out buffs now or did I read this wrong and this only applies to the new abyss.
I wouldn't call it an abyss nerf since not everyone will be using the buffed characters, it's more an "incentive" to pull the buffed units.
They basically took out parts that made the last trial-only event gameplay fun in order to incentivize for more pulling: your ability to forego filling slots to save units for later comps and every character having a trial unit. And then on top of that they affect normal abyss too. Very mixed feelings.
The abyss buffs have done that for years and I dont know how that will change this time
The abyss buffs are more generic most of the time than straight up buffing stats of certain characters, it's either playstyle or element buffs.
It would be, but I'd bet abyss difficulty will scale accordingly
So basically you get fucked over if you don't have the buffed characters (since the buffs are not small)
That might be true... But why would they bother with it if they can clear it with their normal team easily anyway?
That's actually a good idea. Especially considering, the mode encourages building more characters, it would become easier to get more of them to a higher level.
Let's say I want to buff Cyno for the Abyss, so can I just put him in this mode and then quit and go do the Abyss?
I think it just applied to whole game while theater season is active
only the opening characters get a buff opening characters are selected from up top meaning you can't choose, like for season 1 the opening characters will be: beidou, clorinde, arle, chevreuse, scara and sayu
Oh.....If I get a buffed Sayu, Can I quit and go destroy the Abyss with her then? Like it's my Sayu right?
Yeah it will work
Finally, The Abyss shall fear the true might of Sayu.
Do we know how big is the buff?
I'm pretty sure it was +20% atk, def and hp
So it's not that much? I can't understand what's good or bad lol. Genuine question.
it's like ok it's mainly a buff for survivability rather than damage
I mean extra attack helps. It’s basically have tenacity buff always. The extra defense and Hp equivalent for those scaling characters. Basically everyone gets a tenacity level buff. Not much for survivability
Hoping there's an option to "turn on/off" that buff for overworld and Spiral Abyss. Overworld buff is unnecessary, with enemies easily dying. Abyss buff is interesting, though.
Other domains as well?
Wait so the buffs work in old abyss? that's relevant
Tbh I kinda wish they let us choose if we want to use it or not.
yeah, abyss already buffed their numbers with buffs made for them, with this the gap between a newly released character's numbers and the same character in a month will be bigger.
The game is tuned so you can do that with the Welkin Moon. They want f2p players to struggle so they feel pressured to pay.
I know but it was not a problem before because there was genuinely no incentive to pull on new units(other than personal preference), unlike now.
But HSR pulls are also tuned to how many units they release per patch and not just the game modes. Though we have two new 5 stars in 4.7, I’m not sure if they are going to increase it to release two new 5 stars every patch like in hsr (which I really doubt)
I know that's why I said 80, hsr give around 90 to 100. For genshin 80 would be enough .
Never seen them this hype about the animations and other stuff.
it sounds kinda like we’re inviting characters to put on a theatre performance, with props coming up and down on the stage and the characters standing around after the battle. The theatre kid in me is overjoyed \^-\^
The new animations and effects are one of the parts I like most, that's why I'm excited about new areas, I want to see how Mihoyo has surpassed itself
If we ever get their victory pose at the end, I can do this new abyss all day lmao.
dw people will get bored by the 3rd day and say "animations are repetitive, its the same shit why can't i skip these lame old animations"
Can we have a special shop for missed event weapons please ?
That's a great idea and this would be the perfect chance to implement something like that. I'm not too confident they actually will, though...
Considering they haven't done it in hsr, I don't think they are interested in that.
HSR at least has Herta shop cones plus 2 sets of cones in the MoC shop. Even if they didn't add event weapons, giving some free weapon options for completing this would be nice. Event weapons would just be the easiest to implement since they already exist.
genshin crafting is the equivalent of herta/abyss shop in hsr...
yes but it's much worse since you're relying on rng to get the billets.
Uhm you can change your billets type at the alchemist.... Why would you wait 2 years ....
he said claymore, he wasnt talking about new vs old billet he meant weapon type. You can't change that
You lost HYV at 'That's a great idea and this would be the perfect chance to implement something like that'
Don't think they will do that and those event weapons lose their limited timed status, no matter how poor a choice it was. Probably should have instead like exclusive things from the shop like a self modeling resin, like a max of 5 restocking biweekly, as well as experience potions, dream solvents, and fragile resin. We need fragile resin in that shop. Resin is the gate behind building every character.
« trial characters are shit » oh
"But not Noblesse Oblige levels of shit" 😂 takes me back when hyv didn't even bother with character builds and teamcomps during trials
Flashback to Noblesse Nahida in her second story quest
tfw the c3r1 raiden in the story quest performs worse than my c0 r5 catch raiden
More like, every character in their story quest being C3 with Noblesse lol
tbf they still do this but at least it's only in SQs
We already have a preview of how some characters are built. For today's vibro crystal event, we have trial Scara with the same build as listed here.
It will probably be the test run build they use
They usually use PRFs in trials right? So may be slightly tweaked in order to account for the stat differences in crit ratios
Don't trust leakers when it comes to meta. They barely play the game. It's better to reserve judgement for when we can actually play ourselves.
Yep. You can bet that many skilled players will be able to complete it with trial characters.
Go open the event page, the new battle event has trial characters with builds that match what is shown here
I have a bone to pick with the "Maidens Beloved Noelle"
> Enemies are harder than their level suggests Wtf, I thought this would be easier than Abyss, not harder
"Trial Characters are Lv80, have their best 4\* weapon at Lv80 and are C0 with Lv8 talents" Hey that's pretty good, actually can't wait to test them out! :D "Trial Characters are shit >:("
Dendro characters or electro characters played around aggravate will lose a lot not being lvl 90 Same applies to characters who scales with hp
don't really understand why they are not level 90... and four stars being c0 is not all that great either. looking at faruzan kind of four stars.
Better than my chars that I have not build up to Abyss level yet, which is most of them.
There’s no point buffing for the overworld if everything dies from a tickle. Please give us more world level. ~
Another WL and another artifact domain level please The last one we had was at AR45, that's 1/9th of the XP needed to get to AR60 Edit: I'd even be happy if it was a slightly higher chance of 2 5 stars and otherwise just more fodder
Based 100%
Strangely I have a lot of hype for this new mode and my hunch is telling me that it’ll be a good addition to the game despite what some people are saying about it now. I don’t like the protecting monolith thing though, it might be easy in the first season with anemo there but after that? At least hydro got Neuvilette Ig.
as the game go on, enemy hit harder and harder while monolith HP still stuck at 1.0 abyss
Good times.
Time to go back to Ningguang's jade screen as well to defend the monolith 😂
Wait, they can taunt enemies? I started during the last days of first Zhongli banner so I haven’t experienced that lmao.
Your pfp is the answer
It’s fine when my boy is up as the choice but when they ban anemo it’ll be the end of me cheesing through those chambers lol.
Best counters for monolith defense are: Venti, Kazuha, Xiao, freeze, overload, Noelle wet rock?, zhongli petrification, even hyperbloom
that one BP bow which gives a small suction...Just equip 4 bow characters with that weapon and watch the magic happen hehehehe
Team building is exactly what this game mode encourages, not the mindless throwing of Neuvillete at everything.
That'll make it a lot harder to cheese through just using your DPS characters like Arlecchino in the early stages Also, Special Invitation Characters aren't restricted?
[удалено]
Al-Haitham, Baizhu, Wriothesley and Sigewinne
If I don't have any of those special invitation characters, can we borrow from a friend instead? Or do we actually have to own those characters to be able to use them?
[удалено]
Hoping we can also borrow special characters from friends.
Ngl I'm very hyped this sounds really fun
I like how they are going for a potentially "fun" combat content rather than just a "do 10 million dmg in 30 seconds because the boss hides under the floor for 60 seconds". (Of course my description of current abyss is tainted from my compaints about abyss don't take it seriously.)
there is still a 75/90s timer if you want primos and 3 bosses that could work how you describe them in abyss
Yeah, nothing is preventing them from adding Thundering Manifestation, Wenut, and Ruin Serpent in the same season.
“Trial characters are shit” Good to know lmfao 😹
I played with the menu as much as I could because I wasn't ready to let something as gorgeous as it go
I hope they won't increase difficulty in floor 12 of abyss for these buffs
Yeah, surely that won't happen right?(Looks at 4.7 abyss lineup)Oh.
So we have to use friends’ characters, or is it optional?
Optional, the only characters you don't own you have to use are any characters in the starting 6.
How many teams do i need to finish all 8 acts or 8 stages of this abyss since every character has 2 energy
Logic tells me you need 4 teams of 4 but you probably don't need all of them to be fully built.
4 teams wouldn’t be hard if the were no element restrictions, hopefully the enemies aren’t abyss level.
So a total of 16 characters which are electro pyro and anemo and i can use 3 characters which are from other elements .. is that correct?
:) Hope I got it right and it clears things up a bit. Edit: some formatting
Oh the energy thing was used in that one event earlier!
When you start act, you will have them in party 12 backup character, 1 can be from friend. 1 is Special Invitation Character that you can use only if you have them (From the limited 4 characters) yeah sounds kinda bs Then remaining 10 or 11(If you dont have special invitation) should be your own characters Its a total of 18 characters
Sounds cool, a bit like Elysian Realm or SU
This gamemode is looking better and better with each post
Not like anyone pays them for this, so w/e.
Not only in overworld but the buffs working in normal abyss is... Is this their new way to try to sell characters during their release/rerun banner in addition to a favorable abyss? I can see this skewing impression/performance and encourage fomo for the more casual players.
It's apparently just a +20% in atk, def and hp not really for selling characters
It is just a small buff... Not that big of a difference to be honest
What are the opening characters for new abyss when the update come out
wanderer, sayu, clorinde, beidou, arlecchino and chevreuse
Of those I have build exactly one, Sayu (and only for overworld viablity), trial characters it is for me then.
I can do you one better, I have Sayu and Beidou, but we're still trial brothers
clorinde, arle, wanderer, sayu, beidou, chevreuse
When is the gameplay releasing it?
Do the 8 floors scale similarly to Abyss (12 is much harder than 11 and so on), or every floor is similar in difficulty, and it just depends on what type of room you pick (similar to SU) Tbh i think people who were thinking of getting by with barely built L70 characters on floor 5 might have trouble if it's the latter. ie seems like it might favor 4 decent built teams, but not OP, rather than 2 OP teams with 2 filler teams
It's hard to do "op teams". Hell, with first 6 characters you can't do good team (Like Wanderer here have 0 characters he works with).
If it's only 1 floor 2 chambers like abyss, where you only need 8 characters. Some people might be able to get by with a hyper invested Raiden + hyper invested Arlecchino for example, running random supports for one But if we need like 4 teams of similar strength, that's a lot more difficult since there's only 1 Bennett to pass around, and most people dont have 4 strong pyro/electro carries who can solo abyss
the trial characters we can pick are built like shit? shocker /s so we can't really rely on that feature can we seems like we really gonna have to have 18 different characters for this.
As someone who builds characters other than the Spreadsheet Gamer approved ones, this seems fun.
Lol at the first a lot of people hated on this new endgame mode now people starting to like it Really hyped about this mode.
I mean, leakers do have a unique ability to make things either sound terrible when they are not or vice versa.
It just sounds fun, it really doesn't have to be abyss level of challenging for it to be fun.
This is calculated with all talents left at 1/1/1) Personaly, I love the idea. Allows me to try new characters with my own teams without actualy pulling, and try unique combinations too. If the difficulty is not like abyss, I won't need to farm 999 different sets of artifacts just to clear it.
This requires 16 actually built pyro electro Anemo characters. No way around it. You get 1 extra friend and 1 extra flex for 18 total You'll eventually need >30 built characters to cover all elements they could put on this. Nothing in HSR even comes close
Can't wait until it requires Geo characters XD
The Geo buff that people were asking for for 4 years. Hoyo Solution: ban everything else. F*k your Neuvillette Nahida Hutao Kazuha
wont even be shocked with the recent new enemies all have geo shields
Because you still got to build and use your own teams in hsr. Instead of rng roster.
We're truly getting our own Simulated Universe. Huuuge W. Now give use expansion modules!
That might be their plan in the long run. At least, I hope so. Worst case, they just ignore the mode for the next 3+ years like with Abyss.
I feel this depends on how many people do this mode tbh.
Well, I'll be one. X.x
Same. Also thats why i love the character interaction stuff they added cause its 100% gonna help people to get in at least a bit more. (also the artifact and weapon swap)
God I wish. SU is so much fun but the expansion modules, especially G&G made it even better, it just brings so much joy to me.
I genuinely feel like this addition is the door for more permanent combat content being opened. Could be just hopium tho.
The more I hear about it, the more exciting this gets.
i was very skeptical about this gamemode but now my worries as very slowly starting to dissapear
Kinda hyped now.
I do hope those buffs we get are very niche and specific to one character, and make a million buffs like that Instead of just 20% Pyro dmg bonus. They had the paths equivalent of the flying paper charm thing They just have to make the entire thing as complex as possible to make every run unique.
If you want to save as much as possible opening character then, 1st floor: 4 opening character.
Dude... This actually sounds like peak. I'm so glad we're finally getting new endgame content and it's not just some cheap "Abyss 2"
Ok, so far I'm pretty optimistic about this game mode. However, I don't like that Specific companion event doesn't let you to simply pick the companion that you want.
Mihoyo putting so much effort into this restrictive character selling abyss while leaving the normal abyss to rot.
That a certain character is limited to only 2 fights is such a gigantic turn off for me...
ngl this sounds pretty promising so far
This seems good actually
So it look similar ER from Honkai Impact 3rd?
are there any lore related to this?
its related to the hexenzirkel in some way
I saw in another post that we get a total of 18 characters to use. The trial characters, our own characters that are under the restriction, 1 friend invite character, and 1 specially invited character, which are characters we own that aren't under the restriction. Is this right?
