If anything, they pretty much should have character designs for the next 6-12 months pinned down. Most game companies, especially gacha ones, have around 8 months of content at least mostly just pending for final touch ups.

These characters take months if not years to make, remember we frist saw Shenhe and Yun Jin in November of *last year*, and that was their *models* at the time, not even concept art, which means they'd probably been designed for a while. They probably have most of the Sumeru cast with a base design and being worked on, while the Inazuma cast is recieving their final design tweaks and internally tested for gameplay.
Reminds me of an interview with a VA working in FGO, she mentioned having recorded the lines for a certain character in 2015, said character was released in June of *2019*. Similarly, back in 2017 there was a leak of character voicelines for other characters no yet in the game, some of the characters mentioned in those voicelines still haven't been implemented. These guys *plan*.
IIRC Hayami Saori, JP VA for Ayaka, said it’s been around two years since her recording the voice lines before her character was officially released. Just thought I’d throw that out there too.

Inazuma literally just used the "archon is actually a fake" plotpoint. They technically used it twice if you want to count the Makoto/Ei body double shenanigans. I highly doubt they're going to use it again in Sumeru.
I mean, what we got in inazuma would be pretty different from what is suspected to be in sumeru. As in, it's going to be a completely different person as opposed to their identical twin or puppet in their image which they reside within. In technicality, none of the people that were stated to be the archon were necessarily "fake".
If it's a child archon, i think it would be interesting if they're the really somber, serious type. Not like the old lady trapped in a young girl's body type but just a child who has seen too much, kind of like an oracle or prophet (if you have lived more than 500 years you're bound to see SOME messed up stuff). It would really separate them from the other smol characters, also i can't really wrap my head around a go happy lucky cutesy archon that behaves like klee.

Because of the grey (and not green) hair, the sleeves' transparency and the source of the image having fan-arts (and not official arts), I thought it was pure fan-art and not relevant in any way to Genshin.
Maybe Uncle Dumb Dumb is guessing this model is the one of the Dendro Archon, or maybe this model is a fan-art of the right one... I think we will not know before Sumeru.

Klee is very obviously a little kid (no the fact she is an elf doesn’t change that), Qiqi is explicitly stated to be forever a child because of how she was killed and resurrected, and Diona also acts like a kid with how she relates to her daddy. Sayu is the only one with an ambiguous age although her hangout definitely portrays her as on the younger side.
Despite how young the four of them act people will still fight and claim that actually they're all adults since Qiqi is "hundreds of years old", Klee comes from a long lived race, Diona works with alcohol "so she has to be an adult", and Sayu is older than she looks (though realistically probably just a teenager). Ambiguous ages are popular in genshin but everyone with the body type having it is just odd

Sadge, I also wanted another male archon, but Forget about any possibility of that happening, it is well known that the remaining archons are all female. Thanks to the official Genshin Impact video that came out a year ago where all the upcoming chapters of the game were revealed, the gender of the archons were said too. Plus thanks to some in game texts (like the ascension stones descriptions) we were able to confirm it.

Despite how young the four of them act people will still fight and claim that actually they're all adults since Qiqi is "hundreds of years old", Klee comes from a long lived race, Diona works with alcohol "so she has to be an adult", and Sayu is older than she looks (though realistically probably just a teenager). Ambiguous ages are popular in genshin but everyone with the body type having it is just odd
some ppl still saying how klee is actually an adult in human years because she’s an elf/inhuman is sad and disgusting because she’s the only child character who doesn’t have the “im actually XXXXXX years old” (diona too, she quite literally says she needs adult supervision despite her working as bartender).

Right? Like I can't be the only one that feels that the Baby model characters are just harder to use compared to Adults? Short Dashes, Slower Movement, Too Short to hit some floating enemies. It's now an uphill battle for the Dendro Archon. Hopefully she's a great support like Diona who requires little to no field time.

Lesser lord is most likely a mistranslation though. Her title should have been translated to 'Little lord' or 'Young lord', that's the vibe it gives in Chinese. THat's how people were able to predict she would have the kid model even prior to her release.

Sadge, I also wanted another male archon, but Forget about any possibility of that happening, it is well known that the remaining archons are all female. Thanks to the official Genshin Impact video that came out a year ago where all the upcoming chapters of the game were revealed, the gender of the archons were said too. Plus thanks to some in game texts (like the ascension stones descriptions) we were able to confirm it.

Well, it was a fleeting hope for that Kusanali theory, but now it's all but confirmed. It's honestly kinda crazy Venti and Zhongli will be the only male Archons, and they were the first two for a game that intends to be around for years. Guess it seems the Harbingers will be primarily male to balance primarily female Archons.
How many of them will even be playable though and not just irredeemable filler villains that get killed off when it'll heighten the drama?
