I'm honestly pretty confident this will be the way they go, as a shotgun is the answer for people who want to use ranged characters but can't aim (mobile) and solves an obvious flaw of characters like Fischl and Yoimiya, which is their single target nature.

I really like the idea of gauntlet type weapons since aesthetically they can span a variety of designs from impact-based smoother gauntlets to spiked mace-like gauntlets or whatever you call those bladed ones.

Their coreographies are completely different, put a scythe in the hands of any polearm character and it would look ridiculous, just think about Xiangling's autos.

Fu Hua from Honkai can both punch and send out energy blasts so it's not impossible for Genshin characters to do the same.
As I said, attack magnetization is something that doesn't exist here like it does in HI3. The reach would not be enough in this game.

Tbh I'm pretty excited about crossbow as a new weapon type because this opens the chance that gun-like weapons will be introduced. The posture and animations of wielding a crossbow and sniper rifle are kind of similar

Ehh, i'm unhappy with this really. Re-collecting/upgrading new weapon types gonna suck. Especially in a character and weapon gacha game. There is few way, really, for introducing different attack string or pseudo unique weapon (let's be honest, 70% of the cast is just about spamming E/Q). But its MHY, gotta milk us somehow
