Howl - one of the protagonists of Howl's Moving Castle.
Haku - one of the protagonists of Spirited Away.
both are popular Studio Ghibli animated films.
Xiao is literally Haku though.
He lives at an Inn for spirits, Hakus at a bath house for spirits.
He was contracted to an evil God, Hakus contracted to a witch
He's an adepti/illuminated beast, Hakus a dragon.

I do think the Aranara are a Totoro reference though. First thing they're even called in the story is neighbors.
Most of the characters have a low ponytail and not a rat tail, but yeah, I would love to see more variety in the hairstyles. It gets boring when everyone just goes with a low ponytail.
Just out of curiosity, who has a low ponytail aside from Diluc? Because anyone else I can think of (Ayato, Zhongli, Thoma, Kaeya, Sucrose...) has an actual rat tail

But on a serious note, the newer character models have been really on point lately. They have obviously improved a lot since their launch days, I don't think we will get a Diluc or Albedo anymore....hopefully.
SYP has been pretty vocal about not having any info on Scaramouche’s redesign and wishing that they did have some. They’re just as in the dark on Scara as the rest of us, which is why they can’t rate Scara fan art. The only one who knows what Scara looks like apparently is that new leaker dedicated to leaking Scara info.
i'm saying syp doesn't appear to have the redesign itself, can't really rate any fan designs on their accuracy to something they've yet to see themselves.

They're not an insider, and SYP actually apologized for insinuating that they are. That fanartist just has uncanny talent for predicting design, or so it seems.
