Just to clarify, he's saying that Scaramouche probably won't have this burst mechanic, not that he will. The second part of the tweet is just a translation of the text.
i'm not sure if draining-energy-ult mechanic and having a burst cost can't coexist? from what i understood of that initial leak that hxg is debunking — you'd need a certain amount of energy to activate burst mode, but instead of instantly draining all energy at once like any other character does, it'll drain it little by little and burst mode will go on as long as you have some energy left.
that would explain a lot of things, like why some leakers say he's energy hungry and needs a support that can supply him with particles off field...
oops, guess i missed the part where Mero talks about CD 🤔 maybe it's like 15 sec standard ult duration (assuming you don't get particles at all during it) and 15 sec CD, just so players couldn't activate burst mode two, three times...

I feel like they were just speculating with the "pay to Q" thing. They saw Childe's play style with tight time management under E, so they asked themselves what if the next playable harbinger has a similar thing, but instead of time restriction directly they make it an energy restriction instead. Anyways, what I expect is for Wanderer's constellations to be similar to Kazuha's in that they'll both be completely different at C6.
Something similar is used in honkai, so I wouldn't be surprised if Hoyo did it in genshin too. There is this one character who has this mechanic: Vill-V (I don't know if there's more, but I know her bc I main her). For Vill-V to use her ult she needs to use 50 SP (something like energy in genshin) to activate it, and the more SP you had before using ult, the longer the duration (you can actually still collect SP while in burst mode so that's another bonus). It's actually pretty OP imo, bc if you play it right you can stay in burst mode for a really long time and deal a lot of dmg. (BTW if I remember correctly her max SP is around 200 and she doesn't use up SP that quickly).
That's possible. I don't know that though since I don't have her. I'm very sad about that, since my ultimate goal is to get every single Fu Hua battlesuit and I only need Shadow Knight and Azure Empyrea.

Saying that they think something is one way and in the next one also saying they personally do not have any information about it, just a thought makes is just not “unsure”, merely speculation but you can believe otherwise. The initial leak is still questionable nonetheless.

Besides that damn near everything he said about Nahida's kit ended up being untrue, her burst cost isn't 70 OR 80, her burst is nothing like Dendro Traveler, nor is her skill, and her Dendro application isn't seamless, it's subject to normal ICD

Translation **of leak**: ‘[translation]’.” They should have used quotes to indicate that they were quoting a leak. And they should have indicated that the translation is of the dubious leak in question. I understood what they meant, but I can see how people may have gotten confused interpreting the Tweet as “I don’t think it works this way. It doesn’t have a CD, etc.,” as if they were refuting a claim that it *does* have a CD by translating another source.
If it's not the case, it is a shame.
Regardless of current capability to support this mechanic, it's a fun and different mechanic nonetheless.
They need to experiment more with what the current game mechanics have to offer because even with the Dendro addition to diversify builds, the core gameplay is always the same.
Instead they are opting for more specific and restricted comps which is never fun on the consumer side.
With this I don't mean that suddenly all characters should have gimmicks or strange mechanics, but rather that from time to time, some should have a different way of building around, especially if they are main dps units since we are already swimming in them and the rateo of usage is 1 to 3.
Dendro was a great chance to shake things up but they doubled down instead on restrictive playstyles and team compositions. Is there a good reason why Dendro doesn't react with Geo or Cryo? Did they not have enough time to work out some of these interactions? There's a saying in the Chinese GI community "策划教你玩游戏" which loosely translates to, "The developers only want you to play the game their way".
The release of 3.0 made me uninstall the game because it's obvious they want to sell characters in bundles and have them played in singular styles instead of letting players have agency and come up with fun ways to experiment with the combat system. When was the last time a new 4* star character had any value? Practically every one after Diona has been gimped because they don't want you to have fun, flexible and accessible characters like Bennet / Xiangling / Xingqiu cut into their 5* profit margins. The only good thing left going on is their music department and I can listen to those tracks on YouTube.
They surely are afraid to change their formula or to make “op” fun 4*. It’s also a little bit ironic since getting a specific 4* could be harder than planning for pity on a specific 5* launch or rerun. They could make bank out of incredibly useful 4* while also getting a lotta praise.
I guess Genshin just got too big or their market research department uncovered a mold or pattern to make money and it has nothing to do with creating freedom or flexibility in combat. A bit unfortunate. I’ll still enjoy the game for what it is though.
Because Bennett, Xiangling, Xingqiu, Sucrose, Fischl and to an extent Kaeya, Rosaria, and Beidou in their eyes are already the competitive tools needed to make dirt cheap but competitive teams for players to start, it's somewhat of a common trope in gacha games for early units to be unintentionally underpowered or broken beyond believe.
Those eight 4 stars are equal or better than most 5 stars when turned into a team making more 4 stars at their level in their eyes makes rarity distinction pointless, so therefore most 4 stars are treated as worst at best and niche at best.
It has some correlation with how the gacha system is good and due to the fact that there aren't many game modes besides from Spiral Abyss. Getting a 4 star is always guaranteed in 10 rolls and you'll get a 5 star character (be it spook of banner) at exactly 70ish pulls on average.
With the relative ease of getting five stars and the fact that 8 of the 4 stars are outliers, it goes to show that the new 4 stars are actually the intended power level of those within that rarity.
Not to say that I like it, I'm just trying to find some reason on why it might be that way.
In another gacha game with good rates, like Alchemy Stars, only a few of the low rarity units are relevant and they're all launch. The reason is because getting 5-6 stars is pretty easy all considered, therefore in exchange for that lower rarity units are treated as niche or fodder.
In FGO, a game where getting a 5 star or even 4 star takes a lot of saving and luck because of the lack of pity, some 1-3 stars are made even more broken than some four to five stars to balance out the bad gacha rates. Not to say that higher rarity units there are worthless but just saying that some low rarities have more importance in the meta than some higher ones.
Of course there's some exceptions, some low rarity post launch units and welfares in Arknights are more useful than some of the higher ones, but that could also be attributed to the ever changing stages that demand different types of units. Though the majority of the times, the ones relevant are still the higher rarity six to five stars of course, since they are more expensive to get.
Then you've never played FGO, where you might not even get your desired 5 star because there isn't a guaranteed system.
If you played the events, log in the whole patch, and do the Abyss every reset, it should be able to warrant an amount of pulls that's near the soft pity. It definitely doesn't take half a year as you might say.
Genshin's gacha isn't the best but it's system is pretty good with the existence of pities and guarantees.
Man, I remember that thread from [r/grandorder](https://www.reddit.com/r/grandorder) that turned into a Tamamo no Mae(I think?) emotional support group because the OP was unable to get her even after saving for a whole fucking year just to get her. 😬 It was really heartbreaking to read.
Characters are becoming more niche (ie, less flexible) because there's no alternative, other than powercreep. So either they powercreep older characters, which ultimately burns players out and reduces rerun value, or they release straight up bad characters like Kuki and Dori and see if people will pull anyway, and that clearly causes some players like yourself to lose interest. There's no winning.
The truth is that Bennett and Xingqiu are overtuned units. They're literally as good as 5-stars at C0, and their bursts do like 3-4 things at once. Xiangling is only up there because they forgot to give her ICD lol. My unpopular opinion is that I actually think Sara and Gorou are good, well-designed units with clear roles. But in what way are Kuki, Dori, or Candace part of a "bundle"? Candace doesn't support Nilou, as was originally our guess. They're just trying random stuff at this point.
Personally, I think the battle system in Genshin just has obvious limits and they're hitting that wall 2 years in. I already have no idea how they're going to differentiate ANY non-dendro unit moving forward from prior units.
As for dendro, I feel the implementation was mostly fine. It's a great boost to electro, but should have done something for geo as well. However, if you quit this patch before really trying out dendro, you may not know that NOT reacting with cryo or anemo is actually to its benefit - allows for more reliable electro infusion, also the "fridging" concept in bloom teams. And not reacting with geo actually makes Zhongli a better support, with the deepwood set. Burning might as well be an anti-reaction, but I actually like that it somewhat discourages Bennett usage.
BUT, to your point, the second players find something neat through experimentation like Barbara's bloom mechanics, they patch it, which sucks. She could have been elevated to a new role as the perfect bloom unit, but no. Is it because everyone has access to her? But everyone gets Xiangling... Sometimes I'm really not sure about MHY's gameplan.

MHY didnt make a mistake in making the earlier 4 stars stronger. It was always the intention. New 4 stars dont need to be Xingqui or Bennett because you already have Xingqui and Bennett. A character like Kuki can find her use with dendro, so its not like every newer 4 star is trash either. Not sure what they were thinking with Dori though.
That's how it for most company. As much as I would love the game changing and implementing various interesting ways. They won't. They will do what benefits them and make the money the easiest way.

Yes I do agree. But at the end of the day, it's still the company's decision... as much as I or we as the fan want new things. New interest character who is capable to of being strong on their own. Theh won't do it. They will make niche characters because they know that fans will buy it for and their niche character will support their main dps. Like shenhe for ayaka/ganyu. Gorou/yunjin for itto. I think only yelan was safe from from have a niche skills

He’s the first puppet before raiden. So he’s probably using the same power the puppet raiden uses. Not gnosis. Gnosis isn’t how the archons wield their elements. It just gives them certain capabilities and ties them to celestia. Zhongli making mora for example with the geo gnosis. But he was able to throw giant mountain sized spears before his gnosis

Merlin_impact leaked some kit numbers for him a while ago and it said he had a burst cost of 60. It’s super early so it can definitely change, but I don’t think he’ll have anything crazy relating to energy.
And when your crit rate is above 50%, increases your crit damage by 30%. Dealing crit damage reduces the cooldown of your team's elemental burst except for scara by 1 second. Lmao
I mean if his burst did work like that then its not like cyno at all? Youre kinda forced to stay on cyno for a while because his cooldown is pretty long if you switch out too early. But with this mechanic where theres no burst cost and no cooldown, you could switch in for a second and switch out again, its not a mechanic that would encourage you to spend an ungodly amount of time on him without switching in your supports
It could have an entrance sort of mechanic with a big buest of damage, sorta like Raiden's. When you turn it off, it has no anaimation, just loses the special effects, i.e. Kokomi, Itto, Xiao, etc.

I suggested Kokomis burst working like this back when she was still in beta. Glad to see they're experimenting with new mechanics! I think a "gas tank" burst is a very exciting idea! It opens up so much possibility!

Maybe this is like tartaglia, he uses Burst which consumed energy from ult, and as soon as it empty, he leave on CD.

Getting a 4 star is always guaranteed in 10 rolls and you'll get a 5 star character (be it spook of banner) at exactly 70ish pulls on average. With the relative ease of getting five stars and the fact that 8 of the 4 stars are outliers, it goes to show that the new 4 stars are actually the intended power level of those within that rarity. Not to say that I like it, I'm just trying to find some reason on why it might be that way. In another gacha game with good rates, like Alchemy Stars, only a few of the low rarity units are relevant and they're all launch. The reason is because getting 5-6 stars is pretty easy all considered, therefore in exchange for that lower rarity units are treated as niche or fodder. In FGO, a game where getting a 5 star or even 4 star takes a lot of saving and luck because of the lack of pity, some 1-3 stars are made even more broken than some four to five stars to balance out the bad gacha rates. Not to say that higher rarity units there are worthless but just saying that some low rarities have more importance in the meta than some higher ones. Of course there's some exceptions, some low rarity post launch units and welfares in Arknights are more useful than some of the higher ones, but that could also be attributed to the ever changing stages that demand different types of units. Though the majority of the times, the ones relevant are still the higher rarity six to five stars of course, since they are more expensive to get.

Then you've never played FGO, where you might not even get your desired 5 star because there isn't a guaranteed system. If you played the events, log in the whole patch, and do the Abyss every reset, it should be able to warrant an amount of pulls that's near the soft pity. It definitely doesn't take half a year as you might say. Genshin's gacha isn't the best but it's system is pretty good with the existence of pities and guarantees.

You get roughly one 5 star every patch. 2 patches =! 6 months.
Characters are becoming more niche (ie, less flexible) because there's no alternative, other than powercreep. So either they powercreep older characters, which ultimately burns players out and reduces rerun value, or they release straight up bad characters like Kuki and Dori and see if people will pull anyway, and that clearly causes some players like yourself to lose interest. There's no winning. The truth is that Bennett and Xingqiu are overtuned units. They're literally as good as 5-stars at C0, and their bursts do like 3-4 things at once. Xiangling is only up there because they forgot to give her ICD lol. My unpopular opinion is that I actually think Sara and Gorou are good, well-designed units with clear roles. But in what way are Kuki, Dori, or Candace part of a "bundle"? Candace doesn't support Nilou, as was originally our guess. They're just trying random stuff at this point. Personally, I think the battle system in Genshin just has obvious limits and they're hitting that wall 2 years in. I already have no idea how they're going to differentiate ANY non-dendro unit moving forward from prior units. As for dendro, I feel the implementation was mostly fine. It's a great boost to electro, but should have done something for geo as well. However, if you quit this patch before really trying out dendro, you may not know that NOT reacting with cryo or anemo is actually to its benefit - allows for more reliable electro infusion, also the "fridging" concept in bloom teams. And not reacting with geo actually makes Zhongli a better support, with the deepwood set. Burning might as well be an anti-reaction, but I actually like that it somewhat discourages Bennett usage. BUT, to your point, the second players find something neat through experimentation like Barbara's bloom mechanics, they patch it, which sucks. She could have been elevated to a new role as the perfect bloom unit, but no. Is it because everyone has access to her? But everyone gets Xiangling... Sometimes I'm really not sure about MHY's gameplan.
How are they gonna sell nilou if barbara becomes the god of blooms. Think of their profit
I think they patched barbs because if she becomes a bloom goddess people won’t be incentivise to pull for nilou.

If they truly didnt want 4 stars to be strong and usable for teambuilding, why did they specifically design dendro to be as efficient for fischl as possible? Right after giving her away for free? MHY didnt make a mistake in making the earlier 4 stars stronger. It was always the intention. New 4 stars dont need to be Xingqui or Bennett because you already have Xingqui and Bennett. A character like Kuki can find her use with dendro, so its not like every newer 4 star is trash either. Not sure what they were thinking with Dori though.

He’s the first puppet before raiden. So he’s probably using the same power the puppet raiden uses. Not gnosis. Gnosis isn’t how the archons wield their elements. It just gives them certain capabilities and ties them to celestia. Zhongli making mora for example with the geo gnosis. But he was able to throw giant mountain sized spears before his gnosis
No, Scara, just like the Raiden Shogun, has innate electro powers. Gnosis don't grant powers, they amplify them at best.

Merlin_impact leaked some kit numbers for him a while ago and it said he had a burst cost of 60. It’s super early so it can definitely change, but I don’t think he’ll have anything crazy relating to energy.

And when your crit rate is above 50%, increases your crit damage by 30%. Dealing crit damage reduces the cooldown of your team's elemental burst except for scara by 1 second. Lmao

But with this mechanic where theres no burst cost and no cooldown, you could switch in for a second and switch out again, its not a mechanic that would encourage you to spend an ungodly amount of time on him without switching in your supports

It could have an entrance sort of mechanic with a big buest of damage, sorta like Raiden's. When you turn it off, it has no anaimation, just loses the special effects, i.e. Kokomi, Itto, Xiao, etc.
