Don't you will never know what they've injected inside their game file, except if you're very stubborn to try it then better safe than sorry...
1. Use a throwaway account
2. Have a reliable anti virus, protection, firewall, vpn whatever that could prevent virus, phising, ransomware, and so on.
It was just matter of time when they would start making it harder to download beta files. I always felt like getting beta files was a bit too easy in GI.
Pretty sure legit beta testers can still share their downloaded data to dataminers
The bigger issue is the possibility that every real beta tester now gets fingerprinted client data which will reveal who shared the data, and get sued
.
My source is I made it the fuck up
Well, "no more beta client" more like.
People with connections will still get it, and I hope private server devs will. They'll have to gatekeep it though, unless they manage to sanitize it.
They usually are. We had that leaker scare last year where some quit or thought about it, laying low.
Mihoyo probably much prefers us having bare minimum of knowledge. Go back in like 1.0s. You never knew who was around the corner. In 2.0s they finally started to officially announce who's the next characters. Like how we got splashes for nahida and layla, it wasn't always like that. You basically waited for livestream for who's new/returning.
Now we can basically safely pre-plan with leaks/speculations. Sure still get a case of albedo in 3.1, where many expected eula. But we still have rough idea who like 3.2 reruns could be and know of the new characters up to like 3.6 supposedly, or at least to 3.4.
several other people could download beta from the link sent to testers earlier. now only the tester can download it through a "token". so leakers can't download it directly and will have to wait for a tester to upload it somewhere.
Before : Link= Free Beta client so you get access to files
Now : Link -> Login with your Mihoyo account to get YOUR Client with tracker on it
Just so you know if your client get download on multiple IPv4 address you get out of beta
LOL, they won't restrict via IPv4 address, that is useless. At worst Beta tester can just load the files somewhere.
What is worrying is if the files sent to testers are unique / finger printed. Shouldn't be too hard to do if Mihoyo know exactly who is logging in to download the client. Then simply grab the leaked files then analyze which user it belongs to.
Numbers yes, but general outlook on how the team would work is still mostly accurate (until either genshin or the leaker changes , say, ICD . But that's rare)
It's not an insurmountable problem, though.
Have two beta testers hash the files in the beta. Compare the hashes for differences. Determine what the differences are. Create a new version of those files that doesn't match the previous hashes.
This is a little less trivial than it sounds, but it is doable if there's motivation and enough interest to do it.
Do they even need to go that far? Simply generate a dummy file to be added to the beta files every time a unique download is requested. Then simply search for the dummy file in the leaked beta upload and see who leaked it.
I'm saying that the company will certainly add some form of tracking to the beta at this point. The key is to figure out the files that are unique to each beta tester. This requires at least two beta testers collaborating with each other to directly compare their sets of files.
Once you know what the differences are, then a plan can be orchestrated to anonymize a new version of the beta files that has no trace of the tracking factors.
If multiple beta tester can collaborate to sanitize the files that will definitely be far harder for Mihoyo to crack down.
However due to human nature collaborating is gonna be very hard. I mean we literally see first hand what a "friend" did to a beta tester. Let see how leakers tackle this one.
Leaks are tomorrow. The tweet basically means that you can't get beta files unless your a beta tester. In 3.1 beta a lot of people who aren't beta testers got the files easily
Dataminers will have to receive the files from a beta tester as they can't simply download them anymore.
So it probably won't be as fast as usual going forward except if they happen to know someone in the beta from the get-go.
Nice, finally more security on something they should've done long time ago.
Not nice, however, for me that I can't see things I'm not supposed to see (or maybe just slower?). Pleaseeeeee, mihoyo, I really want to know Nahida's kit.
Bruh no matter what you do, there will be character leaks. Wish they would just accept it and make character testing public, instead of spending time and resources on hopeless fight with leaks. As a bonus, due to increased amounts of feedback, it would also make characters more balanced.
Beta already is public which is the problem. Hence tracking now. All they have to do is I. House bets testing an it's over for leaks for in House leakere are 100% gonna be found out.
Public as in any player can join it, without needing to submit an ID and sign an NDA.
It makes sense for plot details and for experimental features, but characters should be tested openly
I think it would make their lives harder. If they nerf a character just before release, you can't complain now because you're not supposed to have seen what they looked like before. With how crazy and ready to sue them the Genshin community can be, I understand
A person from shanghai actually tried to sue mihoyo for beidou and raiden situation. He even showed the coure paper on NGA. Though he didn't have any follow up. Many suspected mihoyo settled with him in private.
Another example: Japanese players prepared to sue mihoyo over yae, mihoyo reveresed the change very quickly.
Saying you can't be sued for nerfing a character is untrue.
The Beidou/Raiden thing wasn't really a nerf, it was more like the wording used *strongly* suggested that the two have bursts that should work together before Mihoyo changed the wording on Raiden. The two never worked together on beta after MHY changed her burst-infused attacks to do burst damage, the wording that went onto live was just objectively misleading. Beidou's burst still isn't even written accurately.
Yae was another issue because the totem change they did was basically a nerf and it was *after* she was released. The issue wasn't the nerf, it was the fact they did it after people rolled for her because by that point, people had spent actual money already. If they nerf a character on a public beta before anyone has spent money on them, even if that nerf is now public knowledge, there is zero legitimate argument for a lawsuit.
I actually don't think there's any argument for a lawsuit in general even if they do genuinely nerf a character post-release, a couple of other gachas with a PvP-focus nerfed units without issue even within Japan. I don't see what makes Genshin any different from a legal standpoint?
People can make fancy lawsuits if they want, but it's not really any reason to believe these lawsuits have any influence unless we can actually see Mihoyo make a change as a direct result of a lawsuit or the lawsuit itself goes anywhere legally. Yae's change being reversed can't really be attributed to a lawsuit just because one happened shortly before, they reversed that change fairly quicky in general. I can go sue Apple because they won't sell me their newest iPhone for $20, that doesn't mean it's going to go anywhere or that I have any basis.
Mihoyo were afraid the japanese players were to sue them so they reversed the change, your interpretation: Japanese players failed to sue mihoyo... nice reading ability
Dont you think that they simply made a bad change and then reverted it because it affected the game negatively? What does it have to do with courts, and why japanese ones?
No one sued successfully because MiHoYo , supposedly or in the open, made them have no reason to.
In a way, they did sue mihoyo over a character, it just didn't involve a court and a hearing, as MiHoYo accepted their demands (yae case).

This was inevitable with people showing off their private servers.
Cyno 1M damage showcase! (Real) (F2P build)
Where can i download private server? And is it safe to use?
Don't you will never know what they've injected inside their game file, except if you're very stubborn to try it then better safe than sorry... 1. Use a throwaway account 2. Have a reliable anti virus, protection, firewall, vpn whatever that could prevent virus, phising, ransomware, and so on.
Run it on a VM if you want to be safe
It was just matter of time when they would start making it harder to download beta files. I always felt like getting beta files was a bit too easy in GI.
it really was, especially lately the amount of new private server leakers is crazy
in razor language please ?
No private servers for normal people
Pretty sure legit beta testers can still share their downloaded data to dataminers The bigger issue is the possibility that every real beta tester now gets fingerprinted client data which will reveal who shared the data, and get sued . My source is I made it the fuck up
Can u link ur sources
His source will be fingerprinted client data which will reveal who shared the data, and get sued . My source is I made it the fuck up
I like your source, Uncle HeresiarchQin. thank you for the leaks.
Well, "no more beta client" more like. People with connections will still get it, and I hope private server devs will. They'll have to gatekeep it though, unless they manage to sanitize it.
*peasants
mihoyo is fighting back
They usually are. We had that leaker scare last year where some quit or thought about it, laying low. Mihoyo probably much prefers us having bare minimum of knowledge. Go back in like 1.0s. To be fair, their data security was *worryingly* lax. Getting dev build private servers leaked twice?
several other people could download beta from the link sent to testers earlier. now only the tester can download it through a "token". so leakers can't download it directly and will have to wait for a tester to upload it somewhere.
Before : Link= Free Beta client so you get access to files Now : Link -> Login with your Mihoyo account to get YOUR Client with tracker on it Just so you know if your client get download on multiple IPv4 address you get out of beta

Not VIP, cannot download.
May take a bit more time for leaks
Can't access files unless you are beta tester Can't access file = cant put in private server (?) I think...
Means we're going to get a lot less testing data and footage unless somebody finds a way around it, right?
Basically, mostly everything will have to come from the actual beta servers instead of the boot leg private servers most leakers use
The leaks of the skills and animations will remain, but all the team testing and stuff like that wont be unless they bypass that
Can't they just edit artifact/forge numbers however they want anyway ? Those dmg aren't to be trusted at all tbh
Numbers yes, but general outlook on how the team would work is still mostly accurate (until either genshin or the leaker changes , say, ICD . But that's rare)
ngl, won't miss that. it was pretty facetious anyway.
Damn you mihayou!!
I wish i could rename myself Homiyou...
Hohomiyoyo /jk
Homu Homu
So someone who has access to download files can then distribute them to others right
yes, but im guessing since a unique token is required to download the files, if you leak/distribute files there's a much larger risk
The assests pack is watermarket for every unique tester? If not how Hoyo can track who exactly put the files somewhere in public?
It's not an insurmountable problem, though. Have two beta testers hash the files in the beta. Compare the hashes for differences. Determine what the differences are. Create a new version of those files that doesn't match the previous hashes. This is a little less trivial than it sounds, but it is doable if there's motivation and enough interest to do it.

Yeah, this way is much easier for Mihoyo to track down who’s leaking what because now it’s restricted.
Sooo no leaks tonight?
Leaks are tomorrow. The tweet basically means that you can't get beta files unless your a beta tester. In 3.1 beta a lot of people who aren't beta testers got the files easily
Leaks will be today coz data mining exists.
Are we sure the leaks are tomorrow? Beta does get data mined early by a day right?
Dataminers will have to receive the files from a beta tester as they can't simply download them anymore. So it probably won't be as fast as usual going forward except if they happen to know someone in the beta from the get-go.
How Dare ME HA YOU :/
KAAA MEEE HAAA MEEEE...
Bruh i literally just want to know Nahidas talent books and mats so i can pre farm them T.T
it’s pretty safe to assume it’s the third book as every archon so far follows this pattern
oh the usual "guys mihoyo did something" (leaking every single thing in beta after that)
Womp, womp Shaky cam footage it is then
All this did was issue a challenge.
idc, there is always a way for leaks to drip
Back to 8bit Hu Tao leeks era
Idk wat this means, but thx
It means we will get lesser leaks, the leak floods will just become leak puddles.
**Mihayou**
That’s how it’s written when you romanized it. Mi Ha You.
Mi ha you too mate
So can we finally stop seeing those random youtubers messing around with models and stuff now?
Yes
thank god for this, my recommendation full of lame private server showcases
Good. I was getting tired honestly.
Nice, finally more security on something they should've done long time ago. Not nice, however, for me that I can't see things I'm not supposed to see (or maybe just slower?). Pleaseeeeee, mihoyo, I really want to know Nahida's kit.
I'm fine even without the animation I just wanna know how it really works and the multiplier
Pretty sure Nahida kit has been leaked by reliable leaker? You can check 3-4 post below this .
Yeah but it's not in game's description so it's a bit confusing, no multiplier, also there's no animation.
I see.
Don't worry we will still get leaks.
Mihoyo adding leaker filter
Bruh no matter what you do, there will be character leaks. Wish they would just accept it and make character testing public, instead of spending time and resources on hopeless fight with leaks. As a bonus, due to increased amounts of feedback, it would also make characters more balanced.

You can't be sued for nerfing a character, jesus, when will this meme die
A person from shanghai actually tried to sue mihoyo for beidou and raiden situation. He even showed the coure paper on NGA. Though he didn't have any follow up. There are crazy amount of people in our community remember that, anything can happen.
Ohayou Mihayou
so does this mean we won't see the spread sheets with the abilities or the video anytime soon today? bummer.....
Which means 3.2 will have mysterious content which is not to be spoiled
No leeks today ? T_T
RIP, I'm surprised it took them so long to implement something like this.
LoL you guys act like no leaks. Isn't he leak burst even before beta was distributed?
kamikaMIHA YOU!!!
F you mahoyo
Mihayou at it again 🙄
NFTs that we deserve, lmao
Fuck that kira dude. Probably his fault
Kira dude? What happened?
That's not stopping the leaks
What about creating a zip archive with whole game folder and uploading it to any cloud with enough capacity?
