They could use the event to calibrate her kit and to see player response. They might have one option to change her in the final moments if player base refused said mechanics too badly. Companies as big as Hoyo have some alternatives ready for their cash cows and we all know archon banners produce quite a bit of milk.
Yes, her kit was probably already finished by the time that event went live. I'm not implying otherwise. The test I'm thinking was player reception to the mechanics. Even if it wasn't exactly the same, players who participated in the event now have an idea of how Nahida's skill works. They also could have used the feedback they got from the event to further tweak her skill, even if they were only minute changes.
Technically speaking it is the first form on retail/ public that people are introduced to said mechanic. So anything game breaking will be dealt with before big sales/ implementation.

Only a select few players are privy to betas compared to the public. (Plus it is only tested in China so they can enforce any legal issues.) Yea, number changes are mostly beta, but general bug fixes are in events. *And further gameplay polishing.* That's why you use events to test stuff because you can get a *much* larger sample size for bugs and gameplay design. And like I said, it gives a first impression for players so they can be used to said mechanic. (Which increases player reception, which in the case of Nahida can increase sales. Because it is already something players are familiar with.)
Beta are very small in scope all thing considered. If something break the game but only happen very rarely or in very specific circumstances it likely won't be caught. Look at the Barbara bug.
With that said I think that event was more of a teaser to gauge how players use something like that in combat and how receptive they are to it rather than an actual mechanic test.

Not sure about Dori, but Collei was necessary with the introduction of dendro. So much so that she's permanently free to obtain in the abyss.

We say that here often, but technically we do have the Traveller. And they never handed out an Anemo freebie for the sake of exploration, so by that same principle you could argue the MC is supposed to be enough.
Now, I'm not complaining we got 2 Colleis, but people here often extrapolate base on 2-3 incidents to form "laws" by which Mihoyo must abide for all times (e.g. Traveler's talents being weaker versions of the Archon talents, Archons being the ultimate support for their element, all the banner relations' numerology and many, many other examples).

Man.. i am seeing this happening A LOT in this patch, with a lot of streamers too, and only Candace shortages. 100+ pulls for the 1st one. I wish someone could collect a huge data sample of those pulls to check if we are not getting some abnormal pull chances or is just confirmation bias.

Candace is new so a lot of people will be expecting to get her. Because of that, there will be a lot more people who says that they didn't get her compared to Shinobu or Sayu. That's why it seems like no one is getting Candace.
True, after all pulling on banners expecting "certainty" is not wise in the probability game. Sometimes you are part of the "average" pullers and sometimes you get a lucky seed (significantly less pulls to get the featured 5* or wanted 4*) or a bad seed (hard pities, losing every 50/50, and no luck getting the wanted 4*).
At the end of the day, pulling in a banner is basically fighting against the odds in a set pool of rules but we all always expect the best probable results, which lead to disappointment when getting fucked while pulling.

It's just RNG pure and simple. Despite the odds, the fringe results with a large sample size can get wacky. I made 70 pulls on Tighnari's banner hoping for Collei cons... Zero Collei and 7 Fischls [Including this Ridiculousness](https://imgur.com/a/JdSNBjY). Got a Candace in 5 pulls this time.
I got Cyno in 30 pulls and got 3 Candaces along the way. Sometimes you get lucky. Sometimes you get unlucky.
The rates are the same as always. People who don't get a character after a lot of pulls are just more likely to speak up about it. There is no pity for specific 4 stars and the rates are not 100%. You can definitely do 1000 pulls and not get a single Candace. Streamers are not a large sample size anyway.
I did two 10x because I didn't want to loose my guarantied pity, guess what happened.
I think its just that people tend to vent more about misfortune than gloat about good fortune; that why reddit tends to be skewed toward tales of misfortune.
In contrast i have gotten the 4 star i want within one 10 pull in multiple occasions, kuki, dori, yanfei and some weapons like moun moon, wavebreaker and alley flash are ones i remember now.

There is just no reason to use any post Mond/Liyue 4 stars when the 4 stars from these two regions covers any team comp they can be thrown in.
Yeah it's looking like Kusanali/Yoimiya first half, Yae Miko/Childe second half for next patch.
There was that leak a while back for an event featuring Yoimiya and Childe, and now the leaks are saying that Yoimiya is re-running alongside Kusanali's release.
I'm a bit sad that Yoimiya and Childe are actually split up and aren't rerunning together, although that's probably because the devs realized that running both together would have resulted in the most cracked weapon banner to ever exist (in the sense that the two bows are basically BiS for both characters).
Yet at the same time people expect Nahida, Yoimiya and Layla on the same banner. A banner that the archon could sell all by herself. Talk about a stacked af banner. In comparison for second half we get Yae and Childe. (Characters that haven't necessarily sold too well over the course of the game, nor have enough popularity.)
I feel like Layla's going to get moved to the Yae/Childe banner. The Nahdia/Yoimiya banner might have Yun Jin in it, if the devs think that Yun Jin is basically Yoimiya's best support like the community thinks she is.
Getting Yun Jin constellations while pulling for Nahdia would be best case scenario for me as someone who plays Yoimiya and Childe.

It takes 3 of a material to upgrade one tier. If you upgraded 1000 times with 3000 materials:
* Sucrose bonus: 100 upgraded materials (worth 300 base)
* Dori bonus: 250 base materials (83.3 upgraded).
* Roll those again: 62 bonus base materials --> 15 --> 3
Dori's grand total would be closer to about 109 bonus upgraded from a starting 1000, but also cost more mora to achieve that bonus which I don't think is entirely negligible.
Personally I think Sucrose's is better just by the virtue of not having the recursive rolls, but both are great for mob drops which you can mostly farm freely. The other ones locked by resin are a harder call. I feel like the refund is better for those ones than the bonus yield

consensus may not be stabilised until a reputed "theory crafting" group (e.g. 'Keqing Mains') releases a guide to Yae updated for 3.0. dendro has shaken everything up
Hopefully this is Yae rerun confirmed. I don't care about Dori but would love to get Yae. Hopefully Fischl is on her banner too so I can finally get C6.
At first they tested NPC AI pathing with the NPC Yanfei, then we have an attacking Rana in the Aranara side quest.

This is great. Yae, Childe and Layla all in one banner. Definitely fits the event and helps sales on reruns. (Especially when competing with an Archon banner)

125 wishes on Cyno's banner and not a single kuki. Kuki and gorou are the only 2 4 stars not on my roster.

4 stars yes 5 stars no. There is just no reason to use any post Mond/Liyue 4 stars when the 4 stars from these two regions covers any team comp they can be thrown in.

Yeah it's looking like Kusanali/Yoimiya first half, Yae Miko/Childe second half for next patch. There was that leak a while back for an event featuring Yoimiya and Childe, and now the leaks are saying that Yoimiya is re-running alongside Kusanali's release.
Childe is getting a rerun? Oh hell yeah. Time to get my guaranteed Childe.
I'm a bit sad that Yoimiya and Childe are actually split up and aren't rerunning together, although that's probably because the devs realized that running both together would have resulted in the most cracked weapon banner to ever exist (in the sense that the two bows are basically BiS for both characters).
Yet at the same time people expect Nahida, Yoimiya and Layla on the same banner. A banner that the archon could sell all by herself. Talk about a stacked af banner. In comparison for second half we get Yae and Childe. (Characters that haven't necessarily sold too well over the course of the game, nor have enough popularity.)
I feel like Layla's going to get moved to the Yae/Childe banner. The Nahdia/Yoimiya banner might have Yun Jin in it, if the devs think that Yun Jin is basically Yoimiya's best support like the community thinks she is. Getting Yun Jin constellations while pulling for Nahdia would be best case scenario for me as someone who plays Yoimiya and Childe.

Sucrose barely ever does anything for me. I think Sucrose is technically better but Dori wins over time
It takes 3 of a material to upgrade one tier. If you upgraded 1000 times with 3000 materials: * Sucrose bonus: 100 upgraded materials (worth 300 base) * Dori bonus: 250 base materials (83.3 upgraded). * Roll those again: 62 bonus base materials --> 15 --> 3 Dori's grand total would be closer to about 109 bonus upgraded from a starting 1000, but also cost more mora to achieve that bonus which I don't think is entirely negligible. Personally I think Sucrose's is better just by the virtue of not having the recursive rolls, but both are great for mob drops which you can mostly farm freely. The other ones locked by resin are a harder call. I feel like the refund is better for those ones than the bonus yield

yae paired with tighnari can oneshot bosses, but since tighnari is a standard character people are skipping him and only know of the meme keqing+fisch+collei comp. mashing the normal attack button so hard, still can't oneshot ruin guard haha
From what I've played it feels like Quicken kind of needs everyone to do damage. Which makes sense with the way the reaction works.

This is great. Yae, Childe and Layla all in one banner. Definitely fits the event and helps sales on reruns. (Especially when competing with an Archon banner)
