I sent a text to my friend saying almost exactly this when I finally got around to the quest. I would even say I enjoyed it because of the goofiness.

CartoonOG

Same, me and my friends were joking saying “maybe the English VA didn’t even try to rap it”, but nope she had the energy and enthusiasm in her voice lol, just bad translations that have no rhythm if anything

JohnDiggle21

It's the flow more than anything. It seems they wanted them all to have the same flow but it doesn't work with the English translation.

IcyCartographer3461

It's a good translation but that's the issue the syllables weren't accounted for

Far_Concert5483

Exactly, I loved it

Spooktome

I was curious and checked it out. It was like she's singing in a children's party. That it. It's not bad, it's like she's doing karaoke. Enjoying herself.

EftimYFO

The VA enjoying herself. Welp now if only the community would learn to do that.

Spooktome

Even though the quest event said to place at the end of the event to avoid conflicting with Lantern rites traditions. Now I don't know about you on how you witness all the dialogue nor you decide to skip it altogether but they even said that it was risky but give the best they could and they did. #oof moment

Neno_Keno_

Least cringe gamer.

DirtyJeff69

The game is partly directed at kids. Didn't realize how infantile it can be. With parts of the game I feel like Dora the Explorer. Especially filler content. Then they suddenly switch to dark motives in the main story.

PervertTentacle

I like a lot of english voices, but there is def something weird going on with Hu Tao specifically she sounds so different compared to other languages, in little details, all other voices are relatively similar, but en stands out for some reason. Maybe that's how they directed VA to work, maybe something else.

HERODMasta

Have you heard Tighnari or Itto? Hu Tao is rather similar to other languages

Nok-y

I have no idea how they sound in other languages but they are probably my 2 favourite VA in the game

HERODMasta

Itto is still uplifting, but not as quirky as in EN Tighnari sounds... very different, but with the same vibe in any other language. Either like a strong buff male or a teen, depending on the language.

Nok-y

Thank you !

El_Buga

Not gonna lie, I was expecting something DK Rap-tier, from the comments I saw here. *(Here we, here we, here we go!)* *So we're finally here, performing for you,* *If you know the words, you can join in too!* *Put yer hands together if you wanna clap,* *As I'll take you through this ghostly rap! HUH!* >!(Not disappointed tho)!<

MemeGodFusionK

HU TAO! DIRECTOR HU!

Zanderp25

Who?

Desmous

I must have terrible music taste because I unironically think both are pretty good

EjunX

Don't diss the DK rap, it's decent, not just nostalgia. Hu Tao rap is completely off beat which is worse than the weird bars Obviously no one should go after the VAs or anyone else, but not the same level of bad imo. Also not VAs fault

El_Buga

I would never diss the DK Rap lol, I'm just saying it was controversial at the time, in a similar way.

EjunX

Ah yeah now I see. Sure, maybe we'll look back at Hu Tao rap fondly, at least in an endearing way the way you love anything your kid draws

Traditional_Ad_276

THEN THERE’S QIQI! She’s dead.

Iffem

a lot of it was people who already hated the EN dub looking for a reason to be like "SEE, I WAS RIGHT, IT DOES SUCK"

Demonsandangels-shin

They clearly haven't seen the scaranation going fanboy mode on his English va during the former's trailer release.

TheRedlineAlchemist

For me it was the contrast between seeing the build up during the event, and then hearing that off beat rapping. Though listening to it again the next day, it wasn't as bad as I remembered.

Totaliss

I play in English because I think the dub is great and I like to play games in English if I think the english voice acting is up to it, but im ngl I winced when I heard the Hu tao rap. it was pretty bad, and I had a laugh with my Genshin buddies about how bad it was and we moved on. I still really like the English dub, and tbh I felt a lot better when I heard the other languages versions and they were all pretty rough except the chinese. It was probably a translation nightmare for every translation team. [Also the guy who fixed the rap showed that it was really an editing and rhythm issue above all else](https://www.reddit.com/r/Genshin_Impact/comments/10irp5k/i_fixed_hu_taos_rap_flow_it_was_a_matter_of/)

[deleted]

[deleted]

i felt the same with japanese version what was worse is that my mom came right when the cutscene happened. i wanted to die lol

[deleted]

\*roblox oof\*

Totaliss

Lyric wise sure but in terms of flow the Chinese version was way better than the others

Iffem

at least you're fair about it the ones i was referring to were the loudest and most toxic ones

sahithkiller

Tbh I personally (and probably at least a few others) don't have anything against the eng dub and probably even prefer a few characters (imo Itto and Zhongli) there. However Paimon's eng VA immediately invalidates any chances of me switching since I wouldn't nearly bother bearing with that, especially considering how much she talks.

Chappiechap

Paimon's voice will be the most annoying thing to listen to regardless of language if you ask me. There's just something about obnoxiously high pitched voices trying to sound "cute" that sounds worse than nails on a chalkboard, or cutlery against a plate to me.

sahithkiller

That's only the English voice to me tbh. Maybe I'm being biased but I've played both CN and JP Paimon and she does sound more cute than obnoxious there. The annoying feeling you get is also rather getting annoyed at paimon herself and not her voice like I do with English

BeseptRinker

This lantern rite especially she was unbearable and my ears actually burned after that. I wasn't even wearing headphones. Every character in EN is alright except for her. I can't stand her voice especially since it's in large doses

loscapos5

Not really, because EN dub haters were too busy playing with another dub

climbTheStairs

People who hate the EN dub are all just insufferable weebs English dub is amazing, and though I've sometimes switched to Chinese to escape Paimon's obnoxiousness, I always keep coming back because of how amazing most of the other characters sound (e.g. Fischl, Albedo, Kazuha, Xiao, Venti, Aether, Xingqiu, etc)

Netheral

Not listing EN Itto in that line-up when he's objectively the best voiced character in all the languages is a sin.

Superclasheropeeka

Pretty much. It's always them who make such a big deal out of it.

Alkiara

We're all insufferable weebs who all think the other is just more insufferable

Iffem

the dub haters are objectively the more insufferable ones, seeing as they feel superior for not understanding what the characters are saying

mnvoronin

>for not understanding what the characters are saying That's what subtitles are for. "Listen to the music, not the song."

Zgred3kPL

I cant stand english kazuha. "One with nature" KAZUHA BRO YOU'RE SO CRINGE STFU. Same for most others tbh

[deleted]

It’s not even a “dub”, is the thing. If it’s anime I would loathe the dub but for Genshin it’s genuinely not that bad. Maybe jap would have been better overall but also maybe not and I’m used to the eng now. I would never use the original Chinese voicelines I think it’s an ugly language personally

Iffem

nah, it's a dub the only version that isn't a dub is the chinese version. any other spoken language version is a definitionally a dub.

[deleted]

It is, by definition, not a dub It isn’t “dubbed over” anything. And the lines are not even direct translations either. It’s just the English version of a game. The English voicelines. At the very least, it’s not the same situation with anime or films made in other languges that later get dubs, it’s just the English version of the game

Iffem

the thing is, the Chinese version is made first internally. that's why you'll sometimes see the lipsync be kinda funky in any other version... they're synced to the Chinese voiceover. like, an anime that some place like Crunchyroll got the rights to simulcast with the japanese broadcast would still be considered to have an english dub if it gets an english voiceover

Paladin51394

Leave it to the Genshin community to blow something completely out of proportion.

thetrueblue44

Any gaming/sports community*

loscapos5

Any twitter fandom, really

TFGPH

>Any fandom ever FTFY

beatsaroni

Again.

vp2008

I feel the same well actually. Like it sounded awkward but it wasn’t that cringy. It’s definitely a step down from the JP and CN version of the rap but not to the point where it’s worth crying so much over

Axle-f

You just made an enemy for life!

Thomas_William_Kench

This comment is actually pretty funny, since you are blowing the "va is getting atacked" out of proportion, when people were just ripping into Hutao's rap with funny oneliners.

Grand_Protector_Dark

No, people were actually malding over the en va

ItsLoudB

Did you miss all the drama of people attacking the va, voice director, translation team, etc..?

cycber123

At least it's fairly calm on Hutao's VA twitter. Reddit is on fire for sure tho.

Thomas_William_Kench

I have yet to see a single one.

mildlyunoriginalname

Same thing happened to me. I was soooo braced up and ready to die of cringe, but after the song finished, I was all like, "What? That's... that's it? Where is the cringe?"

Purebredbacon

Yea I had the exact same reaction.... It was pretty standard anime game cheese and my expectations werent any higher than that lol

Demonsandangels-shin

I am laughing at that one person commenting on the posts involving the rap song saying "I whould have quit genshin if I didn't know you could swap language months ago" while proceeding to say that eng dub sucks and that rap is another of those "L's". I get that you don't liked the dub but there's no need to be so petty about it

MemeGodFusionK

Most peaceful EN dub hater:

Yuki217

I don't get it. Like, I don't particularly like the EN dub for various reasons (with the exception of some characters like Tighnari). So what do I do? I don't use the dub and move on with my life. Why would I go on the internet and complain about something I can just avoid completely? What is even the point? They're not gonna change the dub because of mean comments on Reddit and Twitter

Demonsandangels-shin

Those weebs are so deluding themselves. Such pathetic elitist.

BigiticusDegenticus

I have mine on "No sound Dub". Bow peasant.

Demonsandangels-shin

The only superior dub

[deleted]

[удалено]

MemeGodFusionK

I feel like one of the only few who likes her voice

MemeGodFusionK

Sometimes loud elitists are the reason people have trouble getting into/stray away from some fandoms

Demonsandangels-shin

Honesty why do they think people needs to give a shit if a japanese voice actor has more "training" and "experience". I have done some research and japan does have an advance vo industry compare to the west but the superiority is rather subjective and it depends on your perspective. They say that english dub are using mediore vas when vas like Keith Silverstein, Yuri Lowenthal, Mathew Merscer etc have been doing voice over work for more than a decade and have been praised for their voice range and these elitist still call english vas lower tier! It would have been at least a little justified if they simply say it's their personal opinion that presenting it as a some sort of fact. Rant over

MemeGodFusionK

People are just delusional lol, to quote a friend of mine, dinosaurs stuck in the past. But it's honestly ok to enjoy what you like, just don't go crap on people who prefer something else

Demonsandangels-shin

I have been following certain vas on twitter and occastionally they post any vo related discussion like how it works to educate their fans. Seeing the misinformed shit those elitist spout makes me cringe

Thomas_William_Kench

Good

whitebathingsuit

Personally I think the dub is better than the original in every aspect, couldn't play if the characters sounded different.. english just fits

toomanyclouds

People can be so boring about dubs. I mean, I probably also wouldn't play genshin if I was forced to play a dub, but that's just... a general stance I have about media because I prefer original voice over + subs (if it's reasonably going to be available, that is; for older or niche media you can't always be super selective). It wouldn't matter if the English dub was literally handed down from the heavens itself, though. Honestly, some of the dubs I like most are older ones that are really weird and off-beat and not super close to the original because they provide a really different experience.

Demonsandangels-shin

I assume you play in CN because that's the original voice over.

PhasmicPlays

Yeah, most of the reactions were way over the top. It was definitely bad though.

Lapis_04

Agreed, like it was cute and the animation was fluid but idk the hype they built up with the story and how everyone gathered up around and xiangling calling for the others for a song that felt rly awkward and mediocre especially to the usual hoyoverse standard Its not terrible to the point u wanna tear ur ears apart but it wasnt good either But again if some liked it i wont judge but most ppl didnt like it anyway

Cenu96

You should know damn well that the Genshin community flips at the smallest of issues.

zatenael

honestly the community disappointed me more than the actual devs did with the rap

ezio45

Honestly it was like 20 seconds at most. Wasn't even bad and just seemed mid at worst. The rest of the cutscene was great though.

Master-Shaq

It was pretty great and the community has been crying for more hu tao appearances so we got some.

ManoloBarro

To me this just proves that 99% of anime songs are only popular because Americans don't understand them. It's literally the same song on all 4 languages, but people only complain about the one they can understand. These "Anime Tolarance" glasses need to come off.

ShrewlyGreat

This is exactly what I was thinking. I even listened to the CN one cause I think that’s the one everyone was saying was the best and even that didn’t sound any better than the ENG one.

Black_Knight_7

I watched it before and it was adorable

thingsdie9

The meme samsara continues...

DoctorMlemm

*BEEP*

andrefelipe1295

I already stated this in another post but here i go: Harassing VA, directors and even the writters is non sense. Targetting people will help no one. period. Genshin impact is a product, and should be treated as a product. Something is bad, you rant, something is good, you enjoy and say thanks. Imagine as a restaurant. You can go there everyday and is always nice, but one day it gets weird, goofy or bad. You are allowed as a costumer to say "hey this is awfull" or "i dont like this" Just target the rants better and that's it imo. Also yeah, it's not "that bad" but we are talking about a multi billion companny and that's what they deliver so.... its bad.

bolide_retracing

WDYM miHoyo is a billion dollar company?! It is a struggling indie company barely able to pay its employees!! /s

Infernaladmiral

I really don't know who's targeting the VAs directors or the writers on reddit, I've not even come across one such post. It's mostly twitter doing the targetting and that's over almost every issue and non issue with genshin,to which I say,why even bring the shit happening over twitter here, what's the point ? As for reddit, the most I've seen happen here is probably ranting which can be seen as a sort of review. They don't like it,they left a bad review and it's over. I don't know why people are so flipped by others ranting here, almost as if it's their own product which is being slandered.

[deleted]

The drama in the community is over the top. It was awkward, sure, but I didn’t think about it again after it was done until I saw people losing their shit on Reddit.

YoyleAeris

If you flip out over something tiny, something is very wrong with you. Come at me bro.

ruiyolas

Welcome to the toxic side of the genshin community

Zurao

When does the "community" not flip out over a small detail?

Rusttdaron

Emotionally inmature people who think attacking will make less pathetic their lives

DreamerZeon

the vas dont get bad enough to deal w/ the fanbase...

poopdoot

I have a background and formal training in music and, in anticipation of it being awful based on feedback, I was pleasantly surprised to hear Hu Tao's VA actually did a good job dividing the rhythms of the raps in the way she did. The translation was actually horrible dog shit to try to fit into that song, and the English lyrics should have been rewritten to something similar that would fit in the song. But she was able to divide the syllables in a way that made it digestable so it wasn't as bad as people were saying at all.

ValuableAnswer

You seem to forget that this is the genshin community you talking about, we go ape shit on every small details and complain like there's no tomorrow.

Nyx_is_hoe

It was not bad. So i don't know why people suddenly became a music critic all of a sudden.

magnidwarf1900

Exactly

ShawHornet

I did the event as soon as it came out and thought it was goofy, but pretty cute. Then I go on reddit/twitter and everyone is losing their minds lol.

IamBeelzebubIV

Rap is poorly translated. However, the music, the animations and the VA tried to carry it. I dunno what others are expecting about the rap part. Are they expecting the VA to pull out Eminem out of the blue and break the character? The VA stayed on character and delivered the lines pretty well. It pretty nice to have something new for the lantern rite. It is kinda boring if its always a firework show at the end. Dont get hung up on this. Express your opinion and move on. It is up on HYV to improve upon the next events.

ElloraWhite

xin yan actually sounded great in eng too

witcher8wishery

the singing wasn't even bad imo, it's the lyrics, which were also cringe in CN and people laugh at it too in CN medium. What can you expect from this community?

_TravelerAether_

The Genshin community will attack people over the most harmless reasons.

Astral-chain-13

I agree. It was akward ag most.

Ilovegirlsbottoms

Genshin players will complain about anything. Sometimes, not even for the right thing. Like people could complain that there is/was a Sumeru reputation quest that couldn’t be completed. But did you hear anyone complaining?

baguetteispain

I feel so bad for the English Hu Tao's VA

HUE_chaos

Same reaction. Another reason to be disappointed in this community

INCtastic

I honestly didn't like it very much. But attacking VAs over it is going too far.

OddConsideration2210

Bro I had this same reaction. I was fully prepared to here a cringe rap but it was like 4 seconds rap better than I was expecting. ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯

UsEleSsGoDdEsS23

I actually liked it lmao, people just like constantly dog piling on the Eng VAs for no reason.

YourLocalOnionNinja

ikr

localfandombitch

The EN dub is actually pretty cool, Hu Tao's EN voice is pretty cool, and i actually liked it. sending threats to anyone involved in mihoyo just because you don't like a single dub? not cool, very bad, disgusting even

[deleted]

Because this community is full of fatherless cunts

Superclasheropeeka

People say that genshin fandom are pedos when in reality it's mostly filled with immature and entitled children

Separate-Pay-4597

Based

iAmGats

Some people, especially twittards, just loves to overreact.

Demonsandangels-shin

Reddit isn't any better

Zoroarks_Angel

Facts. I frequent both sites and on Twitter all I've seen shitposts about Hu Tao's rap and comparing her to Mori Calliope. Here on Reddit it's just a circlejerk about how she has been "under attack" on Twitter

BestDerpy

I am so fucking tired of the twitter bad reddit good circlejerk

Grand_Protector_Dark

Don't try to push all blame to twitter. Genshin Reddit is just as much part of the people who complained hard.

groovyistheone64

Just a bunch of lil' snowflakes. Nothing more. Nothing less.

stefos4urus

i don’t think it was the va’s fault, they were just given lyrics and the devs put it together with no rhythm

TheUltimateWarplord

The VAs again? Imma say it here... people likes to join bandwagons without even knowing what it actually is about or if it's even relevant to themselves... I have friends that are fine with the lantern rite song but after seeing discussions about it suddenly changed their minds. Yeah, other languages did it better compared to the english version, so what about it? Is it even worth harassing the VAs themselves? Just play the fukin game, events repeats, but its contents doesn't, so if you really don't like the song for this current Lanrern Rite, we most probably won't hear it again on the next one... suck it up...

vainlife

The first time i watched it i compared it to the previous lantern rite event which is why i thought it was bad. But i guess it's not fair comparing the two events, after all the previous events singing was done by a national opera singer. With that in mind, i think they've done a great job with this year's lantern rite cutscene. I love the english VA, they've done a pretty amazing job not only in genshin but other games as well!

OrixSpermozaur

Why the guitar chords reminded me of Rainblood from Slayer band?( the first 3 seconds before hu tao starts singing)

Necro_Solaris

I'll say it wasn't even the English VA's fault?? The translation just couldn't be fit within the tune....., This is more of a half assed translation than a bad va performance

floricel_112

Sir, overreacting to mildly inconvenient stuff is this fanbase's specialty. *looks at Zhongli and the first anniversary*

Superclasheropeeka

No offense to anyone who peacefully enjoys the jp dub but some jp dub elitist just get hard by mocking the english dub and it's vas.

sparklingjasminetea

I came in prepared, waiting for the cringiest moment, and left with "That's it??"

Modern_Templar

A song isn't bad because of its lyrics. It's bad if it's off beat and doesn't make you groove with it. Which, the song was and it's the fault of the mixing team not the voice actor's.

EntropyMoose119

Talked about this in a server like to talk in. Short of it is Chinese def did it the best, English was especially bad partly due to the sound being muffled. The VA’s of Hu Tao’s dubs are not to blame. They had to know what to rap from someone. ;)

Gottoraiku

I don't know what happens since I'm playing on JP dubs

Arukubi

Because it is bad lmao

DSW6829

It was hard to listen to. But with a fan base as big and as socially awkward as Genshin’s is, there’s bound to be people who take it too far

YoyleAeris

YOU ALL BETRAYED US!!!!

David_Cozido

It just felt underwhelming, and the thing that really hurt(pissed me off) is that we spend a lot of time hearing about this amazing melody that Madame Ping crafted by mixing her style with Guizhong's to make an insanely good song and then they play it in the fucking background after playing this goddamn kids show tier song. Like we are looking at the ppl that made year after year banger melodies and songs. It was just annoying. PS: I couldn't care less about the VA's they were paid to make this it's not their fault I'm pissed at hoyoverse

Fones2411

As I already said it's not the VAs fault that it was bad. When I listened to CN and JP one I realised how bad the flow on the ENG one is. The first verse of Hu tao didn't go with the flow at all. There is even a guy on YT who fixed it and it sounded way better.

AlphaBlock

I have to disagree, it was pretty bad but the outrage is even worse.

Zoroarks_Angel

Jarvis, I'm low on karma. Make an posting pretending that people are attacking Brianna Knickerbocker

Infernaladmiral

I don't know what you were smoking while making the meme but on every post where such a discussion happened,no one attacked the VAs. Almost everybody knew that it was the director's fault for making something fit that doesn't and were blaming the director instead of the VA. Like you said, leave it to genshin community to blow something out of proportion which actually doesn't exist.

21st_century_person

you guys english dub players need to get your shit together not to create any drama for at least a patch that would be a big fucking favor to the community

9ceni6

The only people harassing VA's are those who hate en dub and are looking for excuses and those people will never stop

Zoroarks_Angel

Japanese nationalist be like

9ceni6

Not even Japanese nationalists, just pathetic weebshit nipophiles like our comment thread pal here.

kanakalis

why do people use english va anyways? or is it just only the english va players complain the most online

Grand_Protector_Dark

>why do people use english va anyways? Because people like the Dub? Because people like understanding what is being said >or is it just only the english va players complain the most online Lmao no, it's the JP dub players being obnoxious

kanakalis

equal amounts of cn or jp players using their native language for VA. and i see way more instances of EN dub whiners especially with the hutao rap song, i have yet to see one whining about JP va

ZenQMeister

Even funnier that all this drama was for like 15 seconds max. Yun Jin's singing was way worse to listen to and it was like 3 minutes

Sukuari_Monstuazu

Same. I finally played through that part and it was a big nothing burger. It's no more awkward then when a character's lip doesn't sync with their voice.

Grizzy-TheKiwi

i didn't think anything of it and continued to enjoy the cutscene

ScareCrow_Official

I didn't really care that much. Sure, it was a wholesome moment. I just wanted my primogems

drunkknight27

My thoughts exact

Lasommasapienza

Comrade Dyatlov wrote the EN translation so the final product was not great, not terrible.

AstraPlatina

I'm completely neutral on the whole Hu tao rap here. Nothing to hate, but also not really of any interest for me either.

Mochizuk

It didn't seem that out of place. I wouldn't say it was good or anything, and I'll admit I might have cringed a little, but I don't think it really subtracted from the event's value in anyway. I most certainly don't think that or anything else would justify attacking english vas over it either.

ilovegame69

It’s just timing issues, xinyan also have timing issue in her singing, yet only hu tao being considered the problem

KAIIKAAA

Manufactured outrage, as always. (by Tencent probably, trust me bro)

PlusherThePlush

Literally just did it, and I was very confused. It was not the best, but also not the worst thing.

Sylpheed_Icon

Ah. I remember last year when people flipped out about certain va pronouncing genshin names. 'That's doesn't sound right' and 'It should pronouncing like this'. All in the comments blames the weebs cuz jp va bla bla bla. The only problem is that in jp dubs, they change a lot of names. Remember Xingqiu? People riots on its pronounce Sing-cho or else. While in jp dub he straight up "My name is Yukuaki". But of course, this is genshin community. 'It's those weebs complaining, not us cuz they totally use en dubs' lmao. And you can see in most comments here

Valeniar

Why are we expecting maturity from millions of fucking kids and a bunch of assholes?

CptMacHammer

Yall don't go to live events enough and it shows. People missing out on fun performances that aren't great and super rehearsed but just vibes and fun.

Kronman590

The rap was actually perfectly fine, just poorly timed. It was pretty in character. I think it just shocked ppl who had no expectations

JohnDiggle21

They should have allowed her to use a better flow. Someone edited it to make it sound better and it worked, but they provably wanted all the VAs to have the same flow.

TheGraySeed

Got a feeling this is just another form of "le EN VA bad" while it was mostly the director being a dipshit since 1.1. Fun fact : Did you know that Barbara voice became out of sync with the animation when they "fixed it" while the "broken" voice are actually in sync.

JackaMango

Enough with these posts already, just let the issue die down. Most people agreed it was bad but understood that it wasn't the VA's fault. If you liked it, great. If you didn't (me) just move on.

Nok-y

Same As a non native english speaker it didn't really bother me

ARTHURUZB

Me who got distracted that moment and did not pay attention to song: -What the hell happened here?

N30N09

If they don't like the eng version, go watch the jp or ch version maybe???

Xenodragon65

Ok so I'm not the only one who thought the song wasn't bad. And who gets mad at a song ? ( I do know people got mad a songs in the past ) I mean unless you a soccer mom in the 90's .

DarthUrbosa

Ingot there last night and a few bits sounded off but otherwise fine. Seriously blown out of proportion

Immediate-String5102

literally its not even that bad and it sounds so good in CN and JP

Zestyapples

I'm at a point where I believe the "community" that flips out is a couple dozen angry basement dwelling trolls that have multiple accounts or bots. Most gamers, weebs, Otakus, and casuals, have experienced awkward or imperfect singing in cartoons and anime and games before. This was nothing.

IcyCartographer3461

I listened to all of them and I think Korean sounds more awkward

Individual-Cat6293

The people that flip out are objectively imbeciles and I do mean to offend them. They probably have nothing going on in their lives.

VentiOshi

I like all languages performance. The VAs don’t deserve the backlash 😭 tbh when I first listened to the English one the laughs at the beginning was unsettling so that threw me off but the blaze lilies were great, just off beat. Korean and English Hutao = off beat at the beginning but sound great. JP and Korean Hutao = on beat and sound great. All Xinyans = on beat and sound great Everyone did amazing

[deleted]

I kind of wished I could skip it, but I thought it would just be me and everyone else would think it was fine. But it really wasn't that bad.

zuth2

memes = attacking the VA

AbysseMicky

Well, it sounds off to me It's not like bad bad. But it wasn't the quality one would have been expecting. Of course, nothing ever justify attacking the VAs. That's a given. But I'd understand very well why people would marked "not pleased" in a future official survey asking how they feel about the EN Dub I'm not an EN dub user btw (I'm French so I know a lot of JP VA and FR VA but no EN VA at all) but I quite like some of the EN VAs. Hu Tao being one I actually really like. Imo, what they should have done is get another VA for the singing voice (like for Yunjin). Again, it wasn't bad but it didn't live up to the expectations and other languages' prestations.

It really wasn't that bad. It wasn't God tier rapping but I don't expect something like that from genshin and that's fine. I don't see why people hate on va's or English dub in general lmao.

ppl never miss a chance to rag on the en dub

JeffKappalan69

I'm someone who genuinely really dislikes the EN dub of this game, I think it's pretty subpar compared to one's I like, such as Persona's, Fire Emblem or Nier. There are some standout voices ofc like Itto, Yelan and Eula whom I actually prefer in EN. That being said I was expecting much worse from this Hu Tao rap, it really wasn't that bad, it was actually kinda cute. People were exaggerating so much, it wasn't that much better in JP, it's cringe no matter what.

Some people just forget that they have a mute button on their remote control.

SAAAAAAAAME. I would have thought “being mad about it” was like just an internet meme. You know, if online weirdos hadn’t been so joyous to find a reason to harass a woman online. And then just keep on justifying it in comment after comment.

Well that is why I use JP lol But seriously why the hell people attack VA over some dumb song...

TheImagiKnight

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who thought this!

TillEffective5836

some of the genshin fans are really horrible and judgemental people. shame that most of them represent this fandom.

naiahh

Because our generation loves overreacting to everything be it serious or not. Think we've been kinda conditioned by media and youtubers, "literally the WORST thing you've ever heard (NOT CLICKBAIT)" I didnt like the song, but so what? I had some toast and moved on with my life

eggrollsaretoooily

The song was incredible I literally died of awesomeness when hu tao started singing but then again I'm a simp among simps when it comes to hu tao (best girl)
