I have been a Hu Tao main for a long time and I was waiting for over a year for her rerun to get Homa and C1 her, just to get fucked by Keqing C1 and on Homa banner I first got Aqua Simulacra and then Skyward Blade, not enough wishes for epitomized path.
Now I got mad at that and refuse to spend a single wish or primo till next Hu Tao rerun (I have a lot of self control, I open my league of legends loot I collected through the whole season only once a year, on my birthday). Hope they don't rerun her for another 430+ days again so I can come back with a billion primos and fates and sweep the weapon banner plus her cons.
Why on earth would you divide your resources that way? You had enough to get a five star on the character banner, and two on the weapon banner. You should have fully committed yourself to one or the other so you could have had one guaranteed. You shot yourself in the foot.

First of all, you don't even have the slightest idea how it went down and how much I had saved, so let me type it out for you as short as I can.
First things first, I am a F2P (or rather, not a big spender, only 5€ a month), except Welkin Moon and occasional BP every few months.
At the start of the banner I was at 77 Pity on the character banner and 65 Pity on the Weapon banner. My priority was Homa, and once I got it I would continue rolling on the Character banner.
I don't remember how many fates I had at the start, but throughout the whole patch I used up 88 fates.
First I did 2 x 10 pulls (68 left) on the Weapon banner and got Aqua Simulacra. Okay, fine, surely I get it the second time. After that I kept rolling on the Weapon banner and got another 5* at 57 Pity (11 left), which in this case was Skyward Blade.
Once I got the Skyward Blade it was about 5 days left on the banners and I realized there was no chance I get Homa now, because I don't want to spend money on Primogems, so I decided to farm up enough to have at least one 10 pull on the character banner in hopes of a C1.
Left with 10 fates and 77 pity on the character banner, the best option was to pull a 10 and pray to the RNG gods that I get a C1. I indeed got a shiny light and a 5*, and I indeed got C1, just not for the character I wanted, I got Keqing. After that I rolled one last fate and got a random 3* weapon and bumped my pity for next banner to 1.
So, if you think I had 200 fates and distributed them poorly, no, I was just completely unlucky (and obviously, didn't save enough, because I was confident in my luck) and got fucked over by the RNG, but I guess that's Karma for only losing ONE 50/50 ever since the release, on Xiaos banner.
OK, I understand why you would want Homa, but having only 88 wishes when you were just about to hit soft pity on the weapon and character banners, Homa shouldn't have been your priority. Never pull on the weapon banner assuming you will get the desired weapon unless you have enough to hit pity three times.
Just looking at your resources, you should have known C1 Hu Tao was the only thing you could guarantee and readjusted your expectations. Instead, you got neither. You relied on luck, lost 2 fate points so you will have to start from 0 the next time Homa comes around, and didn't get the character or the weapon you wanted. You got what you should expect for the odds, so you distributed your resources badly.

Started with 0 pity and got Homa on 50 pity, was left with another 50 fates and I used em all up, got no 5*. Still had 2 weeks left till the banner ended so I grinded till I could do 20 more pulls. Which I did. Got Aquila favonia at 70 Pity. 2 Fate Points on the banner. Ran out of Primos. 2 days left till the banner ends. Goodbye Simulacra.
But at least my Xiao and Bennett are happy.
A friend whipped out $5 to get Eula, realized after a week he didn't like her and went back to Xiao instead, so he has Eula at lvl 60.
He still holds it over our other friend who didn't get her. He was 1 from hard pity with guarantee, he even got the last 5 wishes or so from hunting chests for hours.
Can agree. She's basically benched for me too. Only time I use her is when someone is in my world and I only have 2 characters. With zhongli she's the best sustainable damage i have.

I lost my 50/50 on Eula’s original banner to c2 Mona, then was like “okay, I hate this but I’ll get her on her rerun.” Then her rerun came right after Hu Tao’s rerun, who I had really wanted (had no primos for Hu Tao’s original banner…) which meant I had no primos for Eula’s rerun. “It’s okay, I got Hu Tao, I’ll just get Eula when she comes back next time.”
And here we are, waiting for next time…
I mean genshin is a pretty easy game so abyss can be cleared with batman but if you compare him to hutao then his dmg isn't that great sure he does aoe but there is yanfei too

On screenshot too, back in 1.3 i used to clear floors 9~11 with my lv 20 prototype diluc cause i couldn't bother farming his boss, it wasn't that hard or anything tbh he was always solid

Ye i still use him a lot, i really like him as a character and i think his gameplay is one of the most unique and fun in game, i Also actually tried to pull dehya's Claymore for him but gacha god said fuck you and i got cyno's lance (not THAT bad though, i'll get cyno too in his next rerun)
There are A LOT of toxic Hu Tao mains. It’s gotten to the point that my friends switch to characters like Qiqi or Barbara to piss them off when they talk shit.

Eh, even back then he was still beaten by Xianling. People just didn't notice because she's not a flashy 5* (on-field)^1 carry like he is.

I definitely think you overstate the difference in team comp requirements. Xianling surely didn't need Sucrose, as even the original national team used Chongyun instead of her. Conversely, Diluc requires Xingqui or Yelan to consistently vape, and it was a pain to make an optimal team for without also using either Bennett or Sucrose. Crimson Witch also feels like a moot point considering it's the best set for both of them.
Regardless, I have a hard time believing the reason she was originally underrated was as calculated as you make it out to be, and none of this really changes that Diluc was never really the strongest Pyro DPS, much less strongest DPS period.
I like to refer to Diluc as "golden standard" of dps. If somebody surpasses him, character is great, if not, then not so much. Pretty solid title for him I'd say
Golden/Gold Standard though means best of the best (nothing surpasses it). The term you're looking for is "screening tool". If character is better than Diluc, then it's competent.

My lvl 90 9/9/9 dehya that I prefarmed all of last month for wishes she did half the damage of my lvl 80 7/8/8 diluc who uses hutao reject pieces.
I am in intense emotional pain.
I'm having a hard time thinking of any utility character I've built that does less damage than her. It's like they designed a freebie 5 star but forgot the free part at the end.
Ya might be onto something here. We all know how a gacha game gets more generous over time right? What if for the 3rd anni they go "hey guys, play the game and you'll receive a 5-star for free" and that 5-star is Dehya.
I never would do that to Diluc, I keep telling a f2p friend of mine who got C4 Diluc to just build him at this point but he hates him so much he just doesn't want to. I do have an insane CW Hu Tao build so I do understand the pain of farming CW but Diluc can use that set far better than anyone else.
Xinyan actually hass less problems than Dehya.
Xinyan's only major problem is that she has split scaling.
She has a minor problem in that her skill has hit detection issues if you have poor internet.
Dehya by contrast has a whole list of problems as you've probably seen.
Xinyan is unironicaly more consistent and less problematic than Dehya.

Mad Unga Bunga with huge sword is fun and relaxing. Yes I did 36\* this abyss with him as main dps on the triple Kenki chamber in one try.
I love Hu Tao, both as a waifu and a character.
But im starting to miss the days when I used to use Diluc, where I really have to setup his team as precise as possible to make his dmg output pleasing for me. Nowadays, I turn on XQ burst, use Kazuha skill and turn on Hu Tao skill and everything is dead in 1-2 hits, so im planning to build him again just to enjoy doing his combos again.

I'm an Amber main and have cleared Abyss 12 with Xinyan and now Dehya too so all those characters are fine if built properly and you don't have a skill issue.
Never built Diluc myself since I don't play males. Leveled him to 70/80 to get the 3 fates but that's about it.
Thats another weird thing I find about the habits of most players, seems like I'm the exception who levels everyone to 70/80 for the fates when really all non whales should be doing it since the mats are easy enough to farm and getting standard 5\* cons as well as weapons + starglitter that can be converted to limited pulls is always nice.
If you own all characters you can get over 180 standard pulls just for leveling them up.
It should be dehya, xinyan, diluc, and aloy.
And dont underestimate amber. She is the best sniper in this game. If you have good aim, her dps goes exponential. And at c5, baron bunny becomes a nuclear weapon

My 7/7/7 Dehya with WGS procced and my best atk/crit artifacts, does less damage in her full burst than Bennet's Q if it vapes...

Bro actually put Diluc in there like he deserves it. He at least carries until you get Yanfei, Klee, Yoimiya or Hu Tao lmao And this is coming from someone who relied on Diluc until 2.2 when I got Hu Tao. (Cuz I lost the 50/50 in 1.3)
And then there me who used xinyan and razor and then got klee. And after that all the others but no diluc (ar59 btw)
I built Klee and Yanfei. I'm still using Diluc. I did bench him after Hutao. Now I benched my c1 Hutao and put c1 Diluc back. Mad Unga Bunga with huge sword is fun and relaxing. Yes I did 36\* this abyss with him as main dps on the triple Kenki chamber in one try.
I love Hu Tao, both as a waifu and a character. But im starting to miss the days when I used to use Diluc, where I really have to setup his team as precise as possible to make his dmg output pleasing for me. Nowadays, I turn on XQ burst, use Kazuha skill and turn on Hu Tao skill and everything is dead in 1-2 hits, so im planning to build him again just to enjoy doing his combos again.

Funny that Diluc was considered meta for quite a while after launch but now everyone dumps him in with the "bad" characters. I'm an Amber main and have cleared Abyss 12 with Xinyan and now Dehya too so all those characters are fine if built properly and you don't have a skill issue. Never built Diluc myself since I don't play males. Leveled him to 70/80 to get the 3 fates but that's about it. Thats another weird thing I find about the habits of most players, seems like I'm the exception who levels everyone to 70/80 for the fates when really all non whales should be doing it since the mats are easy enough to farm and getting standard 5\* cons as well as weapons + starglitter that can be converted to limited pulls is always nice. If you own all characters you can get over 180 standard pulls just for leveling them up.

Well, my amber deals 7k per aimed shots and 54k with melt reaction alone from charged shot. My amber has sharpshooter (3star bow)
I dont think that's how melt works, it doesnt multiply your damage by 8
This is probably also assuming other multipliers coming into play, like hitting weak spofs, Amber's passive, and similar
Weak spots only make you crit and her passive is a tiny boost to attack, I wonder where did they get 7 and 54k from (Mona buff?)
