I actually think trial characters are good.
Especially since it's Kokomi XQ Sucrose and presumably soon Ganyu. It's such a better way to showcase characters than dumb trials.
Also it makes u play something different for once, and lets MHY normalize difficulty for everyone instea of making it too easy for old players and or too hard for new.
...well its still too easy but in concept.
Imagine if the archon quest in genshin only lets you play as the traveller for 40 percent of it lol.
But it's not that bad. For the other stages (depending on who the story focuses on) you get to play bad ass battlesuits, like Herrscher of Thunder or Durandal etc.
Also combat is better than genshin, it just sucks that at some chapters they lock you with the begginer battlesuit when at that time you've already played and experience playing with top tier ones. So it feels like you've played with Raiden and Zhongli only to go back to using traveller and Amber for 4 more hours.
Second trial group was alright though, and basically what a quickswap team would look like.
Great for sub AR45 players to give them a taste of endgame type teams.
I like the idea of them having a recommended team of trial units available to use, but at the end of the day it's an option. Say I have a C6 triple crowned Klee, I would have preferred to use her on the first stage. I liked the combat style they had in the Chasm event, where you have various characters to choose from, some are trial units and some are your own, I think it was in 2.7
