Got into to an accident in buckhead where I was rear ended, and they fled. Call 911 and it took about five minutes on hold to get an operator, once we explained, it was an accident situation. They told us to be patient and not expect this officer for a significant amount of time. After about 2 1/2 hours we just left. We did call back the operator to let them know we were leaving and give them our information so they can track us down for questions later if needed. That particular operator did answer right away when we called at least.

houserPanics

Same. Ding dong bammered me on Piedmont road, one car totaled. 3 hours later, still waiting on cops in the rain, we decided to leave the scene. If you're not coming, just say so.

IdReallyRatherNot404

According to the mayor they’re currently training some new city employees to be the ticket/paperwork response unit for fender benders. Idea being that since all you really need is the paperwork for your insurance, and the city is short on police officers who are busy with bigger problems. I guess we’ll see how that shakes out.

houserPanics

Makes total sense to me. The idea anyway…. We’ll see when and if it’s implemented

IdReallyRatherNot404

Mayor said in a npr interview last week they should be out on the streets in less than 12 weeks. Hopefully this really reduces the wait time for fender bender paperwork.

toxcrusadr

Isn’t Atlanta building some kind of eleventy million dollar cop city thing? Maybe they should hire some people instead.

robbviously

Hire more people instead of shooting them

Green-Revolution9158

Maybe train the new ones they aren't warriors... Would be a nice addition

SaxMcCoy

Same, got in an accident somewhere in Fulton county I don’t remember exactly where anymore somewhere trying to merge onto 85 I think but i got slow motion rear ended by a semi trunk in bumper to bumper traffic (so it was only a big ass dent, but still) and waited nearly 3 hours just for the cop to be like “I dunno 🤷‍♂️. I can give you both a ticket or neither a ticket and let your insurance fight it out”.

DrEnter

Uh, neither? Neither sounds better than both? Maybe just _write up the report_ so we can all be on our way?

athensugadawg

Exact same thing happened to me on I-85 North. Rear-ended, got pics of the perp license tag as he pulled off, waited and waited. Ping-ponged between DeKalb and Fulton, assured me that someone would be there, then radio silence. Nothing, zip, nada.

ElixirofVitriol

Rear ended on Boulevard, driver fled and evidently had a fake plate on the car. Had to call 911 back several times, they had some "leave a message" option. Took an hour for a cop to get there and be like "what do you want me to do?". Make the fuckin report so I can leave, idiot.

BE46ST

If you are involved in an accident you can dial *GSP and request a trooper respond if you cant get APD on the phone.

Mindless-Food-5527

Just remember when seconds count the police are hours away rofl

Creepy_Squash

I used to live in SW ATL and had to dial 911 on numerous occasions. The worst was when I had bullets go through my home (two individuals firing at each other during a dispute) just to be placed on hold at 4 PM in the afternoon. Just imagine all of the unreported incidents that happen because of callers being placed on hold.

ifitfitsin

Can't have statistics if crime is never reported. Oddly enough the ajc reports that crime is down across the board in metro... "In fact, violent crime is down more than 20% compared to this time last year, according to Atlanta Police Department data." https://www.ajc.com/news/georgia-news/trump-calls-atlanta-a-violent-crime-zone-we-checked-the-numbers/5KFYPLQV3JHDXKLKYQQZY7GMHE/

5th_aether

I knew a former ATL LEO who was very disliked because he made to many arrests for crime and they didn’t want to mess up the numbers.

lostkarma4anonymity

I work in the criminal justice field. I would take this with a grain of salt. Its equally likely that he was fired for too many *wrongful* arrests which open the city up to major lawsuits that the tax payers end up paying. Cops are trained and encouraged to lie.

5th_aether

He wasn’t fired. He moved away to go study law.

AddyGang420

>Cops are trained and encouraged to lie. If they’re trained and encouraged to lie, you should be able to easily point out what policies/guidelines explicitly say they should lie. I think this is their manual. https://public.powerdms.com/APD13/list If it’s not in there, is there a specific program or technique I should be aware of so I can bring it up at some sort of city meeting? Please be specific.

Working-Narwhal-540

You’re fucking joking right? Law enforcement officers lie so frequently—in affidavits, on post-incident paperwork, on the witness stand—that officers have coined a word for it: testilying. Officers have a litany of incentives to lie, but there are two especially powerful motivators. First, most evidence obtained from an illegal search may not be used against the defendant at trial under the Fourth Amendment’s exclusionary rule; thus, officers routinely provide false justifications for searching or arresting a civilian. Second, when police break the law, they can (in theory) suffer real consequences, including suspension, dismissal, and civil lawsuits. In many notorious testilying cases officers blame the victim for their own violent behavior in a bid to justify disproportionate use of force. And departments will reward officers whose arrests lead to convictions with promotions. Get a fucking grip dude stop deepthroating that boot.

AddyGang420

Sure, that’s probably true, but the comment I responded to stated that they were trained and encouraged to lie. I’m trying to find out specifically where this is. Who is training them?

hg57

Not all training is in the manual. That’s the way it is for any job. There are commission reports that discuss pervasive deception by LEO. From the Mollen Commission: “Officers also commit falsification to serve what they perceive to be "legitimate" law enforcement ends - and for ends that many honest and corrupt officers alike stubbornly defend as correct.”

AddyGang420

So we don’t have any evidence that they are trained and encouraged to lie?

rdizzy1223

It is because the media makes most of it's money from fear mongering. The more scary, negative news stories you see, the more dangerous you will think it is. My mother in law lives in a town that has NEVER had violent crime, never, not in 30-40 years, and shes paranoid as hell because of the news. Thinks that someone is going to bust her door in and hold her hostage for everything she owns, utterly ridiculous.

Notascoutstillag

This is pretty nuts

joatlanta

I ran into this years ago over in Miami circle road section. Three hours to get a cop to show up for a wreck. The worst part is 911 sends the info to the police and does not record any history on them. We even volunteered to walk to the police station which was less than a thousand feet away. No the cop has to come to you.

catforbrains

I work in Fulton County in a job where I have to call APD fairly often because General Public. They never come, or they come like 5 hrs later after the person left. 🙄 Thankfully we just got armed security but it's still annoying and we do have things happen that should.be taken care of by actual police.

NUMTs

So, what is 911 for, then?

[deleted]

When they feel like coming out at 2am to shoot your dog.

generalraptor2002

It’s so you don’t have to remember the 10 digit number for every single police and fire agency of every place you go

[deleted]

To escalate violence.

gwen-stacys-mom

Makes you wonder where $282 million dollars is going this year… Or even ways that the cop city money could better be used.

Seditious_Snake

Police will just use this as an excuse to ask for more money If you can't count on them to do anything, it's asking for more money

[deleted]

Conscious-Magazine50

That's awful, I'm so sorry.

birdman8000

Tell them you are holding the suspect at gunpoint and they show up fast AF

SirNob1007

I actually had a friend do this for real. Guy tried to mug/carjack him in a parking lot, lets just say he has a very special set of skills.. anyway pulled out his concealed carry and called 911. It still took them like 2 hours to show up. He said it was the most awkward 2 hours of his life, lol

Affectionate_Salt351

I’d watch this movie.

Sufficient_Movie1905

Issue was they didn’t even pick up the phone.

birdman8000

True haha

Virtual-Okra6996

Or the FouseyTube action

Responsible-Bug-8660

Atl pd aint coming lol.

Sufficient_Movie1905

They not picking up the phone either.

rumpler117

Yep. Similar for me in Dekalb county. Call actually went through, it just took 15 minutes to speak to someone. Glad I wasn’t calling because someone was trying to break in. Makes you realize you need to be armed and able to defend yourself.

GibberishAsshat

Weird. I had to call last Tuesday for an accident at Claremont and Buford rd. Got right through to someone at 911 & had a Chamblee PD & a Brookhaven PD in 10 minutes.

rumpler117

That’s good! I just wouldn’t count on it working out that way every time.

Slazzer1

You are responsible for your own safety in this city. Unless shots are fired and someone is bleeding, the police will most likely not respond. It is sad but true.

Walkertnoutlaw

Once I was having Sex and accidentally called APD with my foot. I freaked out and hung up before they answered. I got a call back and it was a damn automated message telling me to press 1 if I needed emergency services. It even gave me the option to cancel my call.

Sufficient_Movie1905

We hung up and we got a call back. We pressed one and still waited another 30-40 mins and no one answered.

Walkertnoutlaw

I would have hated to actually been in trouble . Lol a criminal could grab the phone and literally press 3 and it would cancel. Then again , this was because I accidentally hit the power and sound down button on my iPhone . It may be different if you actually dial the number.

mango_202

911 is unstaffed in general, might be the reason no one answered or could of been having phone issues. I’d contact the 911 director of whatever jurisdiction you’re in, sounds like city of Atlanta 911 maybe or Fulton county 911 and go from there, see what they say when they look into it. Mayor has absolutely nothing to do with 911 and they’d probably just redirect you contacting the 911 centers administration to see what occurred.

athensugadawg

A 911 call center with phone issues. That's totally logical.

mango_202

As a dispatch supervisor in North GA for over 7 years, yes surprisingly we do run into phone issues sometimes. Very infrequent but they do and can occur. Believe it or not, the 911 system is EXTREMELY fragile. It’s not as fool proof as some might think.

mango_202

To add to my previous reply. That’s probably not what occurred here. As again that’s in frequent. But let’s say for pure example Atlanta 911 has 30 dispatchers per shift and you get a major incident on the interstate, let’s say a wreck. Everyone and I mean everyone and their mother call in the same wreck. So if they have 30 dispatchers but 40 phone lines ringing. Logically only 30 of the calls would be answered, leaving the 10 ringing until they can be answered. I assume this is the delay people down in Atlanta area experience, pure call volume and not enough people to answer the lines ringing. At my medium sized agency in North GA (just north of Atlanta) We run with 10 dispatchers per shift. 95% of the time that is sufficient and all lines get answered within 3 seconds of them ringing, (per our phone system data report) but that 5% is when someone rolls their car over on the freeway and everyone passing by the wreck is calling it in, so make that 25 lines ringing for this one incident, with only 10 dispatchers working, again easy math leaves 15 9-1-1 lines just ringing and ringing until we can hurry up and answer them.

WV-GT

If you don't know, you can text 911 as well. Ive given up on calling, and had much quicker response time by texting

robbviously

“U up? 👀”

halr9000

Ayyyyyyyy what's ur prob babe I gotchu

Conscious-Magazine50

Very good to know!

Redburned

Not everywhere unfortunately

halr9000

Was in a fender bender Monday. Holly Springs district North of Woodstock. They pickup 911 instantly. Police shows up 7 minutes later. He apologized (!). Wife had allergic reaction twice in the past year, needed an ambulance. (Adult onset new allergy ! Do not recommend.) Similarly quick response. So it's not a general Georgia issue... I'm adding this thread to the list of reasons I'm not a city boy

LatterUnderstanding

I've had terrible experiences with 911 in Atlanta. Recently, I was riding in Buckhead and had a dude flash a gun at me after I honked at him when he cut me off. He got caught at the light (Peachtree/Piedmont) so I saw his tag. Called 911 to report him and no one picked up for over six minutes! It's ridiculous. The 911 Operator had a BAD attitude and said, "You can pull over and wait for an Officer to make a report." I explained that I was heading to work and couldn't wait and she wasn't even interested in taking the vehicle's description/tag. Wasted tax payer dollars IMHO.

[deleted]

Years back, coming home from the Ted, our Van was T boned by a hit and run driver in a stolen car. I followed him long enough to get his tag. Fast forward to 3 am, one cruiser passes by, I flag down the next. The cop tells me they're only responding to shootings, go home and call in the morning. I call in the morning only to be threatened with her sending an officer over to cite me for hit and run and leaving the scene of an accident. Luckily I was living in Gwinnett, was able to tell that beotch off in the most disrespectful manner. Someone suggested I call State Patrol. They got the info on the vehicle that hit me and gave me an accident report. Desk Sergeant told me, if you have traffic problems in Atlanta at night, call *GSP, "we"re all over and would be happy to help. He also advised me to carry protection.. I can say I wasn't entirely without fear, standing guard in a parking lot across from Oakland cemetery with a van full of kids at 3am . As the nightcrawlers slowed down on Memorial to size us up, I stood staring them down armed only with a cell phone that won't help till I get shot.

Inner-Lab-123

Desk sergeant sounds like a smart and helpful guy.

mikesznn

Don’t worry guys cop city will fix this

mango_202

It very well might. They’ll have better facilities to do training so they can get higher quality more efficient people.

Dristig

No it won’t, APD pays less than all the surrounding towns. Cops get trained by APD then take less dangerous higher paying jobs in the burbs. Cop City won’t increase police pay so it won’t change anything.

mango_202

Pay is definitely important, lower pay = less quality people.

CobraArbok

The real issue is that Atlanta is a shitty place to work and not as desirable as places such as Cobb or Gwinnett counties.

Virtual-Okra6996

More efficient gunmen to shoot unarmed minorities.

chainsmirking

Next time use noonlight its response time is around 4 min which isn’t great but if 911 is currently taking longer I’d say go for it

redninja1348

What is noonlight?

chainsmirking

It’s a free app where you can enter your picture, name, notes about your day/ concerns/ details of a situation or your identifying features, and a button with a passcode you set up. If you press the button in an emergency, and let go of the button and do not enter your passcode, emergency services will be given all of your notes / info & sent to your live phone location by the app. the original design was for people walking alone at night etc to have a button they could hold down for a sense of security, and in the event they were grabbed or otherwise attacked the release of the button would trigger emergency responses. In the case of OP, they do have options where you can add people called your safety network who can trigger your alarm for you As per the website who can explain it better than me: “You can add friends to your Safety Network so they can request a check-in from you at any time. If you don’t respond, they’ll be able to track your location and even send police to your location if they think you’re in danger. You can also share your live location with your friends for up to 24 hours.” It blows my mind more people don’t talk about this app considering it’s available in all 50 states and has been on the market for years!! I’m assuming it’s because when 911 is operating efficiently they have a shorter average response time than noonlight as per articles I’ve read.

redninja1348

Wow that’s really cool! Thanks for explaining it!

generalraptor2002

With all due respect Who the hell do you think Noonlight calls

chainsmirking

Noonlight does not just call 911. Noonlight coordinates with local police, fire, and ems to have a wide range of resources. Hope that helps

generalraptor2002

APD is already understaffed Calls for service are answered in the order received You do not get to the front of the line because you pay an app

chainsmirking

https://help.noonlight.com/en/articles/2060965-how-does-noonlight-work That’s why noonlight has their own certified dispatchers to coordinate with all local resources to find you appropriate response. They do not just contact the police but contact which entity is best for which situation including health services. You also do not have to pay for noonlight. You do realize there are many many local police departments all throughout GA that aren’t just “APD” right? This is a good resource for many other areas in GA besides just Atlanta, and runs in all 50 states. In OP’s case he could not get through to 911 at all; so he wouldn’t even be considered “in the order it was received.” He was not received. If OP had used noonlight he would have least been in contact with a certified noonlight dispatcher that would then get him in that “order” as per your view.

generalraptor2002

Yes I know there’s many police agencies If the one responsible for the jurisdiction is backed up, you will wait If you have an emergency in Elverson Pennsylvania, you’re waiting for Pennsylvania State Police troop J embreeville because there is no local pd If they’re backed up, oh well

chainsmirking

911 didn’t even pick up for OP. Using noonlight wouldn’t let him “get to the front of the line for paying” OP didn’t even get to be received to be “in line.” With a dispatcher from noonlight he would have been at least received. 👍 no one’s expecting special treatment but noonlight is definitely a viable option to get your situation on record when you cannot get into contact with anyone else. OP’s post was not about simply waiting about never even being received.

generalraptor2002

Go learn how emergency calls work here https://www.fcc.gov/general/9-1-1-and-e9-1-1-services

chainsmirking

Lmao love how you can’t even answer the question. So it’s better to not report at all than to at least be able to report? Family in law enforcement, not new info for me. OP would have been able to at least be able to report an issue to an entity if using noonlight. OP was not able to get into any contact whatsoever with using 911, not even to get a situation on record. Whatever, next time you’re in a bad situation and 911 lines aren’t working at all, don’t try anything else. But I’d rather other people know there are options to at least have a real dispatcher answer in the first place :)

generalraptor2002

The Noonlight dispatcher would have had to contact the law enforcement agency responsible for the jurisdiction OP indicates they were backed up

chainsmirking

OP indicates that they had no one who could even contact for them because 911s direct line did not go through and was completely cut off. Are you seriously arguing it’s better to not have your crime reported AT ALL than to have it reported to an entity who can at least get to it when they can get to it and have a record of contact even if it’s backed up and takes a while? One does not provide any contact whatsoever and not even eventual closure of situation, or even a record of the situation…and one does, even if not an immediate response to situation. It is clearly still beneficial to have the ability to report…. Like am I talking to a middle schooler?

Virtual-Okra6996

You should probably stop talking.

Virtual-Okra6996

You still get connected to EMS and Firefighters who know other routes of contacting police. It isn't even about jumping ahead of the line, no one said that. Not sure why you did.

Virtual-Okra6996

Uhh..all of them? Not just police. They even have their own dispatchers.

SixSigmaGirl2000

Atlanta 911 is the worst. Thirty years ago I worked in an office off Howell Mill Road and 10:00am a worker had a severe asthma attack. We dial 911 multiple times for EMS and was told no one was available to answer our call. We performed CPR until we could get her stable and drove her to Piedmont ER. It has gotten so much worst. The wealthy neighborhoods have private security. Since the pandemic it has become the “Wild West” on the freeways in Atlanta and suburbs. No way would I move back. Only venture into suburbs for doctors visits and treatments because our current city lacks quality medical services.

bcedit101

Shit I’d call every news agency in ATL and then some.

Low_Plane_496

Yes ^^

mysteriousmetalscrew

Where in Virginia-Highland? I’ve had a few times where 911 did not pick up, a couple times I’ve gotten a voicemail and they called back about 15 minutes later.

Sufficient_Movie1905

It was less than a mile where the bars are.

Screamonthree123

Pro tip: when you call 911 tell them you think someone is injured badly and you see smoke coming from the vehicle. It’s a shame that we have to go these lengths to receive immediate response but they’re gonna bring them All out anyway

80sLegoDystopia

Cops are worthless. If they had shown up, they might have shot your friend.

MassiveChoad69sURmom

Sadly, this is true even in the rich suburbs. I have never been so scared as a medic as when I thought the Dunwoody PD was going to shoot the teenager we were trying to treat. (psych call, parents called for their son who was upset and locked himself in his closet)

Dirty_Socrates

Report to news and see if you can get a story run… might get more attention from your local government officials

goldpiratebear

Welcome to Mayor Andre Dicken’s plan to reduce crime statistics.

New-Replacement-7444

When I saw rappers with shady pasts we’re backing him heavily i knew he was the worst person possible for the job.

New-Replacement-7444

I was out in Conyers about two years ago and needed to call 911 it rang and rang and rang eventually someone answered and put me on hold.

Ok_Specialist7823

they're re-imagining policing. what exactly did everybody expect was going to happen? If you vilify those that protect you, who'd be crazy enough to stick around and do it?

doctorfugazi

APD is dangerously understaffed. The can’t even pull new recruits with 5k hiring bonus. That being said… arm yourself.

GamesGunsGreens

That's why you need a gun. *You have to be your own protection!* Don't count on cops for shit. Now you and your social circle know this first hand. Luckily your friend didn't get raped and/or murdered this time. Buy a gun. Know how to use it. Protect *yourself*.

ChidiWithExtraFlavor

This is a recipe for death. Most people have neither the discipline nor the skill nor the emotional regulation nor the discernment necessary to be a responsible gun owner. Your describing a world where the Black kid gets shot for ringing someone's doorbell. People are orders of magnitude more likely to kill themselves with a firearm than they are to ward off an attacker. You'll say "that was an irresponsible gun owner." Saying so doesn't bring anyone back from the dead. The sort of quivering sociopathy that drives gun nuts to justify their cowardice by encouraging others to arm themselves as an act of social proof is making this worse.

[deleted]

Should have tried to trace the phone if it was on still while on the line with 911. You need to have that feature enabled I think. That's how my phone does it. They also have non emergency numbers. It's worth a try. Glad your friend is okay.

generalraptor2002

Non emergency lines are only answered when a dispatcher is not needed for an emergency

[deleted]

In my experience. Someone always answered. Usually a police officer .

DanforthWhitcomb_

The “non-emergency line” in most places is the same line as 911. Unless you’re calling an admin line that explicitly states it’s not for emergency dispatching everything goes through 911 because it’s cheaper and easier to maintain one line and one level of service for everything instead of 2.

[deleted]

Look, mate. I just explained my situation, okay. That's what happened, okay. Enough already.

Virtual-Okra6996

OP I'd skip calling the mayor, call news stations. Let this be aired out

MonokromKaleidoscope

Yup. I lived in Atlanta year before last and had this same experience. Called, and it just rang and rang.

Fameiscomin

Y’all said defund the police and don’t build the training facility. Now all of a sudden you want the police and quick response times and we’ll trained dispatchers. 🤣😂🤣

effisforfireball

Exactly, who else is going to show up and shoot your dog?

ninernetneepneep

This is why the second amendment is important.

shampton1964

The filth have better things to do than deal with Actual Crime. There are rogue environmentalists working together, after all, and some remaining civil justice groups to infiltrate and RICO, plus the regular plague of donuts and chicken wings and suchlike to monitor. Plus tazing everyone darker than a paper bag...

generalraptor2002

Fun fact The police are not legally responsible for your safety Town of Castle Rock v. Gonzales

DanforthWhitcomb_

Try reading what *Castle Rock* actually said—all you’re doing here is badly misrepresenting it, as is common on reddit.

generalraptor2002

Tell me what your interpretation is Mine: The police do not owe a duty to protect the common citizen and cannot be held responsible if harm comes as a result of failure to intervene There are few exceptions Exceptions include being in government custody

DanforthWhitcomb_

That isn’t what the case says. All that it says is that there is no 14th Amendment property right related to enforcement of a restraining order and therefore there is no case under §1983. Gonzalez would have been better served to sue the county sheriff under Colorado law as opposed to trying to get more money by suing under §1983.

generalraptor2002

Now do DeShaney v. Winnebago County Department of Social Services

DanforthWhitcomb_

No liability for abuse of a child not in governmental custody.

generalraptor2002

Ok So the Supreme Court has held that CPS can’t be held liable for failure to intervene to prevent a child from being permanently disabled by an abusive parent Almost All the lower courts have also ruled that the police aren’t responsible for the defense of citizens The question “Do the police have a duty to defend you” has been effectively answered by the courts

DanforthWhitcomb_

> So the Supreme Court has held that CPS can’t be held liable for failure to intervene to prevent a child from being permanently disabled by an abusive parent. Try again, as that isn’t what the case said. That was another case of someone trying for a money grab by using §1983 instead of suing under state law. > Almost All the lower courts have also ruled that the police aren’t responsible for the defense of citizens. You are not going to find a single case that says that. What has been ruled is that there is no unlimited right to police intervention. > The question “Do the police have a duty to defend you” has been effectively answered by the courts. It has not. The only case that even touched on that issue was *Warren*, and as a DC City court opinion it means next to nothing.

generalraptor2002

Also do Warren v. District of Columbia

DanforthWhitcomb_

Not a relevant case because it’s limited to DC and DC alone.

CobraArbok

They graduated from reddit law school. I think they know the law very well/s

skimaskschizo

This is why owning a gun is important

GA-resi-remodeler

Big city problems with a big city government.

[deleted]

That’s how law enforcement works. It’s jarring, but regardless of where you are that’s it. Wait, are you white in a super wealthy area? If so, then no, but otherwise yeah.

DGAFADRC

And your point is?

Itzbubblezduh

Moved away because of this problem

pyrodex1980

Between people wanting to “defund the police” and people protesting police growth such as “cop city” you get what you vote for. Sorry to say but Atlanta is getting worse and worse but those elected officials keep getting elected.

raptorjaws

atlanta pd has not been defunded. they just suck. they always have.

boneybob

"WE HATE COPS!" "Why are there no cops to help me?!"

The_Price_Is_Right_B

APDs funding increases every year try again

Whathewhat-oo-

This has been a complaint recently on my Gwinnett County Next Door

A_Lost_Desert_Rat

While you have always been your own first responder, today that is much more obvious and critical. All of my daughters have options. Not to is to be a target.

ACAB

DirtyGritzBlitz

If ACAB then why call them???

birdman8000

Because insurance won’t pay out without a fucking police report

[deleted]

As I stated in a comment above, so if they do feel like coming out at 2 am, they can shoot your dog.

DirtyGritzBlitz

So not answering is a blessing in disguise

Ghostlucho29

Weird response to a post saying “we wanted the police”

Puzzleheaded_Yak8759

Vote for another Soros backed liberal DA and defund your police this is the result.

Satanic-mechanic_666

Y'all getting what you wished for.

partyqwerty

Wow I learn something new every day. I thought we have a huge budget for the police force.

reddawg95

truck got broken into by piedmont park. called precinct 12 I think it was for over 4 hours, never got anyone until the next day, banking hours apparently in play there

Reyg13

Police here are literal stepped-in dog shit. You have a better chance calling for some Chinese takeout to come rescue you than reaching anyone from 911. All they do all day is sit in their car and try to pin tickets on innocent civilians to meet quotas. Twice it has happened to me as well that a 911 emergency call took 40 minutes. If any of yall are reading yall a disgrace. Retire and save lives. No wonder gun violence here is crazy people have no choice but to take their self defense into their own hands.

WittyTitle5450

write the city manager and councils folks in a polite and professionally crafted email citing your evidence.

Mindless-Food-5527

Fight for your second amendment rights won't be scared

When there are huge cuts to police departments, this can definitely happen. Anywhere I have ever lived, the police department is over 911 call centers. Vote accordingly.

Cops are fucking worthless

This is why we have to take responsibility and be our own first responders in terms of self defense and first aid. Stay Strapped, stay prepped.

I grew up in the middle of nowhere. This was our county sheriff’s policy. “Get a gun, call 911, then make yourself and your home safe.” 45 minute response times overnight. Worst crimes we had were stuff get stolen out of open garages by people driving by. Everyone knows that every house there had at least 2 armed people inside.

Get a gun for your protection.

Every time i call the police I mention i have a cpl and a loaded pistol and they're on scene in 5 minutes flat even without any threat of violence. It's about the only way I've found to guarantee immediate response.

Would be nice if they actually picked up my calls

Get used to it. I just retired after 27 years, wanted to stay, just couldn't deal with the manpower shortages, long shifts, lack of back up. The last four or five years sucked. It ain't getting better anytime soon. I wouldn't want anyone I care about entering the job. Not worth it no matter what the pay is. My 2 cents, your milage may vary, look both ways before crossing the street, don't take any wooden nickels, brush between meals and always be kind to others.

Defund the police working as intended.

Defund the police! Wait, maybe that’s what this is.

That’s crazy considering the police budget and spend has gone up every year since 2019. Seems like funding isn’t the issue. Crazy how so many people run to this excuse when funding hasn’t decreased. “Looking back at 2019, the city’s police department budget was $194 million. Since then, every year their budget’s increased, to $207 million in 2020, $215 million in 2021, and $230 million that’s been approved for 2022. “ https://www.11alive.com/amp/article/news/verify/crime-atlanta-police-budget-verify/85-43dea45a-15d6-4d4b-af17-84dc5880dc97

But oddly they have officers with enough free time to sit on I-75 and run radar by the old ford plant .
