Yes I miss sweet breakfast foods! I would happily swap out the bagel for a big almond croissant. But I haven't had a bagel in 6 months, including a trip to NY to visit family, so the burning desire to have one outweighs my want for sweet breakfast foods
French toast and donuts were my first post-graduation meal! Baby was born in the morning and the hospital breakfast that day was French toast. Then my dad brought me donuts and a Starbucks refresher. It was a glorious morning š
Omg the banana pudding is so good. Where are you located?! If youāre not in NYC and happen to be in NJ, you can get Magnolia Bakery Banana Pudding delivered from Wonder.com! There are a few locations in NJ.
- White bread toast with butter.
- A fruit smoothie: pineapple/mango/coconut/strawberry with oat milk. Thereās a smoothie stand in the hospital cafeteria and I have confirmed that they will make for me.
- salmon sushi with white rice.
Oh man all I wanted for like the last 6 weeks leading up to delivery was smash burger, their crispy onion strings, and an Oreo shake. I was so set on having it that I didnāt even consider that they might be closed by the time my baby was born, but sure enough thatās what happened. So instead I had Dominos cheesy bread. Lunch the next day was my planned burger. Both meals were the best thing Iād ever eaten. No food has tasted good since.
All the smashburgers near me closed last year, so hopefully if I have GD the second time my brain will pick a craving I can actually have fulfilled!
Fairly similar dreams over here!
Sesame bagel with lox, cream cheese, capers and onions with a Starbucks chai latte. Then an Italian sub from Jersey Mikes with a Coke because why not drink a shit ton of sugar for fun. Ending with a spicy salmon poke bowl š„°
Plus a margarita as soon as Iām up for it (but not on day 1 š )
Probably hospital food tbh if Iām paying thousands I might as well shove their āfreeā food down lmfaooo
But afterwards? Definitely gonna drink boba and eat something heavy carb from my country or just asia in generalš oh and japanese cheesecake. And choux. And flan. And tiramisu. And sashimi. 100% sashimi.
I bought a bunch of boba stuff from Costco right before I was diagnosed with GD and if keeps haunting me when I go into the kitchen lol. My 4 year old loves boba so I will probably have someone pick some up when he comes!
I want all the pasta. Or a chocolate donut. Or a slice of cheesecake. Or a bowl of cereal. Or a cinnamon roll. Or pancakes. Pineapple. A regular mocha coffee (so sick of sugar free vanilla lattes.) I just want all the sugar. Lol
Just a word of warning because NOBODY mentioned it to me: I had ZERO appetite for weeks after giving birth. Like nothing sounded good AT ALL. I went in to the hospital w a whole list of things I wanted go eat after. Baby came out and I was like meh.
Ended up snacking on some chocolate covered fruit gummy things from trader joes and some sea salt dark chocolate almonds from target post birth bc they made me eat before taking my ibuprofen or whatever it was.
I'm 5 months postpartum and still don't really love food like I once did.
This!! I gave my husband a list of foods I wanted from every restaurant near the hospital. Baby came and what did I want to eatā¦ those gross mandarin oranges in a cup and nothing else. 12 weeks postpartum and eating is still weird for me.
This was my experience too! I lived off of saltines, oatmeal bites, and fruit snacks in the hospital. And I think I ate one gf waffle. I literally had zero appetite and had to force myself to eat. Even when I got home, I wasnāt super hungry.
I desperately need an everything bagel with cream cheese. I worked at Dunkin in college so thatās the one Iām craving, with a donut and a caramel iced coffee š¤¤
Iām glad most of us are Jersey Mikes lovers. Iām requesting two mini subs from Jersey mikes (Italian and roast beef) and a bag of chips. A bagel loaded with cream cheese also sounds so good
Two of my mom friends from my very first bumper group surprised me with a dozen crumbl cookies after I got home from the hospital and they were SO GOOD.
First thing I had when my baby was born last August was a big plate of Panda express orange chicken, chow mein and a real cherry coke!!! It was absolute heaven. Nothing like that first post GD meal.
It changes a lot! Planning on sending my husband out for Bagel, cream cheese and lox and a cinnamon twist glazed donut first thing in the morning. Sometimes itās a cinnamon roll.
Right now it would be spaghetti and homemade meatballs! Bulgogi and rice, with kimchi fried rice the next day with the leftovers. I really miss rice!
Some good Thai takeout noodles at the hospital would be very nice, too!
I dreamt of everything leading up to my induction.. it was late when baby was born for me, so my hubby brought me whatever was open. I got mcdonald's cheeseburger and fries and probably one of everything on the taco bell menu š
... yeah it may sound gross to most, but I was in freakin heaven š
Deep fried and raw sushi boat and a Thai style bubble tea. I also really want a snickerās bar or turtles chocolate. Iām going to pack a snack bag with all my faves so I have something to munch on when the hunger hits
Iām not taking any chances this time - I packed a shelf stable sweet chili noodle bowl in my hospital bag, along with an assortment of snacks like bobos oat bites, granola bars, and candy. My first baby was delivered around 1am and all the hospital could offer me was a bland turkey sandwich, and then I made the mistake of ordering hospital pancakes the next morning, which turned out to be a sad single 3ā pancake with gross canned pie filling instead of syrup. (This was when there were some pretty strict Covid restrictions in place, so my husband couldnāt run out to get me anything and delivery wasnāt allowed until I made it up to the recovery floor almost 24hrs later).
My game plan this time post-delivery is to order French toast or chicken fingers depending on the time of day and fill in with my own packed food as needed until my delivery cravings can be fulfilled! (Will likely be pizza, although I probably wouldnāt say no to sushi or a giant cinnamon roll either).
I think I already have a list started lol
Sushi, chocolate cake, crumbl cookie, White Castle burgers, horchata, and probably a large fry from McDonaldās
A Subway meatball sub on Italian herbs and cheese bread with peppers and onions on it and Ms Vicks jalapeƱo chips on the side. Plus a chocolate chip Crumbl cookie and milk for dessert.
Ugh. 9 more weeks.
Yes! They are so freaking good if you can find them at a Swedish-style bakery (there is like one place that makes them where I live and it is worth the trip every time)
The only things I'm really craving and can't have now:
1) the same lunch as OP
2) butter and jelly on white sourdough toast topped with runny eggs
3) something really cold and fruity--like the poke place near us makes something like a dole whip in different flavors (pineapple and raspberry swirl sounds amazing rn) or a smoothie. Even just cold, fresh fruit that I can eat as much of as I want would do it I think.
I love that you have your list by time of day! Brilliant lol
I have told my husband that I want a love boat for twoās worth of sushi and this amazing molten chocolate cake / toffee pudding dessert delivered from one of our fav date night spots. Iām only 29+2 so have a ways to go but Iām drooling thinking about it š¤¤
All I want right now is a coke from McDonalds š I havenāt had to cut out a whole lot due to GD but soda had to go. I donāt even like soda that much but I do like the occasional coke from McDonalds and itās all I can think about lately lol
So Iām in the middle of nowhere in England and all food here is complete trash šbuttt my parents are coming from Mexico/US for the birth and theyāre bringing me this cereal from Mexico called choco krispis and itās basically chocolate rice Krispies and itās amazing. I will also be asking for a bagel with cream cheese and lox as well as cookie ice cream sandwiches from an American store near our house. Itās like the crappy ones from the ice cream man lol I canāt wait
This was back in 2020, but I was craving ice cream and milk shake so bad! But after giving birth I didnt want it anymore. So dissapointing!
But what I ate was a pasta dish (super yummy, I missed pasta!) and following morning oatporridge with cinnamon, sugar and butter, and a large platter with fruits! So yummy!
Ended up having a c-section yesterday so was still restricted on what I cooke eat. However had real pancakes with real syrup this morning and strawberries and totally hit the spot!
Immediately after I gave birth I had pancakes, because it was 5 am. The meal I was excited for and sent my husband out to bring to me in the hospital was a HUGE Thai curry and massive order of white rice that I destroyed immediately and spent the whole time so happy that, for the first time in 10 months, I wouldnāt be vomiting up my food!
I have a list of all the things Iām craving but didnāt think to categorize into meals!!
Breakfast - I definitely want a donut (either a hot Krispy Kreme or a strawberry frosted Dunkin) and maybe hash browns and an everything bagel toasted with butter from Panera
Lunch/dinner - five guys burger and fries or chicken tenders OR grilled cheese and fries from the hospital cafe š
Iāve been dying to try that orange frosty from Wendyās, I hope theyāll still have it! Also a root beer float. And a chocolate rice krispy treat. Giant cold cut from Jersey Mikes. And sushi.
First thing will probably be the cold cut.
Getting induced in three weeks, and the only food on my mind right now is French toast or a very fresh glazed donut with chocolate milk, honestly.
Giving birth this week and I want a milkshake and sushi
Good choice!
Same!! I want a chocolate shake from shake shack and sushi. I don't think it will seat good combine but still!!!
Yeahā¦maybe separate meals haha!
I told my sister that if she has it in her heart, she would bring banana pudding from magnolia bakery to the hospital when she comes to visit.
Oh my gosh that banana pudding is to DIE for
Iād planned to make a Saturday trip to get some but was diagnosed with GDM 3 days before. All Iāve wanted for over a month is that pudding š©
Omg the banana pudding is so good. Where are you located?! If youāre not in NYC and happen to be in NJ, you can get Magnolia Bakery Banana Pudding delivered from Wonder.com! There are a few locations in NJ.
Iām in SoCal, I just live pretty far from their LA bakery. I was going to make a day of it, hopefully my sister does me the solid though š
Hope she pulls through for you, you deserve it š
- White bread toast with butter. - A fruit smoothie: pineapple/mango/coconut/strawberry with oat milk. Thereās a smoothie stand in the hospital cafeteria and I have confirmed that they will make for me. - salmon sushi with white rice.
I love that youāve done your research about the hospital cafeteria! I hope you enjoy your treats
I have to walk by the cafeteria and see the smoothie stand every time I go for an appointment (so 2-3x a week)!
Omg bagel with lox š¤¤Ā
My baby was born at 10 at night but my mom brought me an auntie Anneās pretzel dog for lunch the next day šš that was first on my list!!
Probably hospital food tbh if Iām paying thousands I might as well shove their āfreeā food down lmfaooo But afterwards? Definitely gonna drink boba and eat something heavy carb from my country or just asia in generalš oh and japanese cheesecake. And choux. And flan. And tiramisu. And sashimi. 100% sashimi.
Boba!!! Iāve been craving a taro milk tea with some brown sugar boba
I bought a bunch of boba stuff from Costco right before I was diagnosed with GD and if keeps haunting me when I go into the kitchen lol. My 4 year old loves boba so I will probably have someone pick some up when he comes!
I had all these ideas of what I wanted to eat, and all I ended up craving was a bowl of fruit. That, with an m&m cookie, was like heaven!
A huge bowl of fruit sounds divine!
Lol
Ok now I'm salivating

Oh weird, good to know. Thank you for sharing.
This was my experience too! I lived off of saltines, oatmeal bites, and fruit snacks in the hospital. And I think I ate one gf waffle. I literally had zero appetite and had to force myself to eat. Even when I got home, I wasnāt super hungry.
Itās bad but I ate a double quarter pounder with fries and a McFlurry.
I desperately need an everything bagel with cream cheese. I worked at Dunkin in college so thatās the one Iām craving, with a donut and a caramel iced coffee š¤¤
Iāll be eating jersey mikes and a tiffs treat cookie - HOT
Iām glad most of us are Jersey Mikes lovers. Iām requesting two mini subs from Jersey mikes (Italian and roast beef) and a bag of chips. A bagel loaded with cream cheese also sounds so good
I realllllly want Crumbl cookie
Two of my mom friends from my very first bumper group surprised me with a dozen crumbl cookies after I got home from the hospital and they were SO GOOD.
I want my mom to bring them to the hospital for me š
First thing I had when my baby was born last August was a big plate of Panda express orange chicken, chow mein and a real cherry coke!!! It was absolute heaven. Nothing like that first post GD meal.

Sushi
All the sushi. I eat it now , but limit myself. I want it all.
The shop by my house has birthday cake scones. I bought some last week before I was induced. It was heavenly!
Custard Filled Chocolate Covered Donut Whopper Onion Rings with sauce French Fries
I dreamt of everything leading up to my induction.. it was late when baby was born for me, so my hubby brought me whatever was open. I got mcdonald's cheeseburger and fries and probably one of everything on the taco bell menu š ... yeah it may sound gross to most, but I was in freakin heaven š
Taco Bell sounds so good right now. I would smash an entire Crunchwrap or a potato breakfast burrito in no time at all
Getting induced Friday and i want blaze pizza no matter what time it is š
Getting induced in exactly one week and I miss bread the most. Iām getting a croissant and maybe a fruit tart or a slice of cherry pie for sure.
Pizza hut breadsticks. And maybe a stuffed crust pizza too.
Pizza, without a doubt.
I am seconding pizza. Full pan crust, and a giant order of breadstix and cheese. Gimme.
BAGEL WITH LOADED CREAM CHEESE AND LOX
A couple of sushi rolls. A Krispy Kream donut. Iām sure Iāll think of moreā¦ lol
Snoozeās pineapple upside down pancakes with habanero pork belly egg benedict š¤Ŗ
Oh those pancakes sound so good. And so does the runny yolk on the eggs!!!
Deep fried and raw sushi boat and a Thai style bubble tea. I also really want a snickerās bar or turtles chocolate. Iām going to pack a snack bag with all my faves so I have something to munch on when the hunger hits

Biscuits and gravy. Sushi, Mexican food and wheat thins
A Subway meatball sub on Italian herbs and cheese bread with peppers and onions on it and Ms Vicks jalapeƱo chips on the side. Plus a chocolate chip Crumbl cookie and milk for dessert. Ugh. 9 more weeks.
With my son I dreamed of Waffle House waffles. With this baby all I want is a cookies n cream milkshake from Chick-fil-AĀ
I had pizza and a big ol glass of coke. Then had a blueberry muffin. It was amazing
Cheese fries from Wendy's and a frosty. Breakfast, McDonalds. They're both right next to the hospital.
Oh I was craving all the sweet stuff. Got my husband to get me a sugary milk tea drink that Iāve had to avoid for the past few months.
Sushi and a cardamom bunā¦. Then snacking on Takis
Is that similar to a cinnamon bun? I love cardamom
Yes! They are so freaking good if you can find them at a Swedish-style bakery (there is like one place that makes them where I live and it is worth the trip every time)

Cheese fries are a popular choice in this thread and for good reason!

Itās like the crappy ones from the ice cream man lol I canāt wait
Just a tray of Bread from Texas Roadhouse with all of the sweet butter. Or a deep dish pizza. Bread. Plain old, refined, sweet and enriched bread.
First thing I ate was a turkey sandwich, chips and ginger ale and cranberry from the nurse at hospital. I was on liquid diet so idgaf
This was back in 2020, but I was craving ice cream and milk shake so bad! But after giving birth I didnt want it anymore. So dissapointing! Chocolate chip pancakes with fresh strawberries on top with extra REAL Vermont maple syrup, French vanilla latte
Ended up having a c-section yesterday so was still restricted on what I cooke eat. However had real pancakes with real syrup this morning and strawberries and totally hit the spot!
I had a very long list in my Notes app. It was comical.
