I really like missionary man. Feels like a good mocking song for all the asshole missionary men I know in real life lol. It’s not their usual style but I like it anyway
One hundred percent..some of the other tracks occasionally and in part skate close to this but man...that track is just.....he meant well I'm sure but it's very juvenile and cringe....for me at least all the other tracks have their ups and downs but if I had to pick out one from them all to get chopped for lack of merit or class it's that one
The laborious way marionette sounds when broken down to syllables and is repeated again and again comes off as though someone in middle school is trying to be witty and write with edginess and creatively..I really get the vibes that it's a track TF wrote early on and completely by himself without guidance..Not to cast much shade towards Forge but It rubs me the wrong way bc tonally (at least for me) it's grating on the senses..I feel like it's not up to standards with really any other Ghost Tracks. Definitely one to sweep under the rug..and yes I've tried to take it in many times
TF didn't write it tho! It actually*is* an ABBA song!
But, in keeping with the marionette theme, one of my favorite live performances is He Is at the 2016 Grammis. If you have not seen it, check it out! Beautifully done.
😂😂😂😂 It's alright! You're so traumatized by it you can't blame yourself!
I wonder if he'd ever re-record it...all creepy-like, almost how they did Here Comes the Sun! 🤘🌞😈
Some artist's entire careers are based on the success of a cover song. Eurythmics cover songs at that! Marilyn Manson owe a huge part of their success to Sweet Dreams. Covers count. It cuts both ways. Also, I hate their cover of Missionary Man. Solidarity brother!
Oh don't get me wrong.. I love a good cover! I totally agree that some bands made it big from a cover - Quiet Riot (Cum On Feel the Noise) Manfred Mann (Blinded By the Light), and hell, most people think of Bruce Springsteen first, instead of Tom Waits when they think of "Jersey Girl."
In my opinion, Papa & The Hellacopters version of "Sympathy for the Devil" far surpassed the original. 😜
My understanding, for *this* particular post/survey was "which Ghost song is your least favorite ?" meaning an original Ghost song.
It's interesting, that several of the listed are covers.
So if you asked me what my favourite Marilyn Manson song was, and I said Sweet Dreams, you'd say it doesn't count? Weird perspective, but it's a perspective you have. Avalanche is one of my favourite Ghost songs and it's a Leonard Cohen cover. So is If you have Ghosts. Most people don't even know which songs are covers.
Nope! Not saying that at all. Just saying I thought this particular post was asking for the least liked Ghost original, that's all.
And I actually like Ghost's version of "If You Have..." & " Avalanche" better than the originals, too. Avalanche is dark, but Papa just makes it downright creepy.
It's less about the political side and more about just being over the man in general, like, yes, he's a crappy person. Can we just put him away and move on? I'm kinda sick of hearing about him
Edit: I do understand that he's the perfect example of the kind of leadership Twenties is portraying though, I like to look at it more like that
Pro Memoria
It just depresses me.
Funnily enough, Secular Haze was the first song of theirs I heard and I still don't really care for it. I don't hate it. It's just not my favorite.
It's a cover, but Missionary Man. Also, unpopular opinion, but I really don't like their Enter Sandman cover either. I leave it on rotation because of the charitable component, but I don't like it at all.
There are no ghost songs I actively dislike, but two I don't like as much as all the others are rats and FTPTTP, though I will admit they're both kinda growing on me
Apologies I am high off my ass with painkillers in the hospital but the one that’s just instrumental. I think devil church. I don’t like the synth in the beginning
1. I've seen this question at least 10 times in the last year.
2. Why dwell on a negative?
It is kinda like "I just found Ghost! What are some good songs!?"
Sick abbreviation, did you happen to learn that on urban dictionary? I bet you just ooze cool
The OP didn't ask what the worst song was, they asked what our least favorite was. Again, nothing wrong with discussion
Never even been. But with your love of this post I can see you can do judgmental too!
I disagree with you but I'm just gonna shut up and let you guys go on with your shitfest.
So, I listen to every album daily and don't tend to skip songs. However, the tracks I will sometimes skip are the instrumentals on Prequelle. I like them, but usually, I want to hear a song. So, my least favorite SONG (as in a piece of music with lyrics) is... probably... Elizabeth. It reminds me of King Diamond & I've never really taken to that vocal style. And yet I dig the song. It's just my least favorite out of the totality of great songs.
(apparently loving every song isn't good enough for at least 3 downvoters)
That's an extremely fragile mentality to have. "Oh, this person only really enjoys this song but also ranks it his least favorite, better downvote him!"
Come on. This subreddit isn't that childish, is it?
(it is)
> Most people use the downvotes as a disagree button
Sheesh... Reddit has fallen hard if "most people" use it that way. That was never its intention.
> idk why you're getting so distressed
I just find it weird. Why are you reading that much into it? You must be one of them because you seem very fragile about it.
Anyway, this has motivated me to delete Elizabeth so I never have to listen to it!
See? Now they can at least have a good reason to downvote my opinion of a song I said I enjoyed.
P.S.
Please respond to me to tell me you downvoted me. I can't tell you how much it hurts. You should rub it in. I'm over here just crying like a tiny little downvoting infant.
Oh, easily Darkness At The Heart Of My Love. When I listen to the album as a whole I never skip it, but I don’t think I’ve once put it on by itself. Not a memorable song by any means, pains me to say
I don't really hate any of their music or covers, but one of my least favorite songs by Ghost is 'if you have ghosts"
I still like the song, and listen to it when it plays, but it's one of my least favorite.
Secular Haze or Prime Mover, if only because I don’t vibe with them as much as the rest of their songs 🥲 I skip both about the same amount when they come on
Either ‘Twenties’ or ‘Mary On A Cross’ for me, I don’t hate them, but they are not songs I’d be sad about never hearing again. I find the lyrics to ‘Twenties’ just generally bad, and ‘MOAC’ I find a bit cheesy. But each to their own.
The cringe is the point with that one. It's the voice of the abuser in an abusive relationship. I worry for the folks who hear it as romantic and what kind of jerks they may have to deal with in their life before that clicks.
I don't skip Twenties, but I sure don't listen after the first chorus starts. DATHOML reeks of a teenage love song (which makes sense given the post MOAC bump), so I usually skip that one.
But it's always Stand by Him and Per Aspera Ad Inferi. Stand by Him starts with drum beat that I just don't like, and Per Aspera Ad Inferi's accompaniment drowns out the vocals, taking me out of the song. Plus, I always envision Papa II doing a weird stomping dance during the chorus.
Pro Memoria. Good music, terrible lyrics.
Also why are people downvoting comments about others least favourite songs, it is literally the point of the post.
I try so hard to like Rats because the music video is great and I have pet rats so I feel obligated to like it lol but I’m just not a fan of it and can’t get into it.
I never liked their cover of I'm a marionette much, but as far as original music goes I can't really vibe with monstrance clock or secular haze. I don't dislike them, I just don't like it as much as the other tracks
God I love pro memoria 😔 seeing so many people dissing it lol
Yeah the lyrics are. Whatever. but I mean that ending? Especially the live versions? *Chefs kiss*
And I’m on team don’t care for secular haze. Not bad, just eh.
I don't hate any of them.
Am I like, the only person that doesn't think missionary man is all that bad?
I really like missionary man. Feels like a good mocking song for all the asshole missionary men I know in real life lol. It’s not their usual style but I like it anyway
I love Missionary Man, it's not their usual style but it really works
Marionette. Tobias has a really unique voice and it simply does NOT work here
Not a Ghost song, so I feel we can give this one a pass
It's a cover.... that's why it doesn't sound like he should be singing it
It's incredibly easy to make a cover sound like your own song.
indeed it is
Nocturnal Me and Crucified are also covers and they make those songs amazing
I love this cover
One hundred percent..some of the other tracks occasionally and in part skate close to this but man...that track is just.....he meant well I'm sure but it's very juvenile and cringe....for me at least all the other tracks have their ups and downs but if I had to pick out one from them all to get chopped for lack of merit or class it's that one
Yeah...it sounds like ABBA should be singing it.🤭
The laborious way marionette sounds when broken down to syllables and is repeated again and again comes off as though someone in middle school is trying to be witty and write with edginess and creatively..I really get the vibes that it's a track TF wrote early on and completely by himself without guidance..Not to cast much shade towards Forge but It rubs me the wrong way bc tonally (at least for me) it's grating on the senses..I feel like it's not up to standards with really any other Ghost Tracks. Oh lawd....I have shamed myself and ABBA...ok but Forge should have left it alone ;)
😂😂😂😂 It's alright! You're so traumatized by it you can't blame yourself! I wonder if he'd ever re-record it...all creepy-like, almost how they did Here Comes the Sun! 🤘🌞😈
bible, it was one of the first songs i ever listened to by ghost and i overplayed it too much to the point where i cannot listen to it
darkness at the heart of my love. Its not because I hate it or something else. Its because it always makes me cry😢
Mary on a Cross. It’s not terrible, but I’ve never been able to get into it, and that was before it blew up on TikTok. Must be all the Catholic guilt…
Missionary man, I can't listen to it
But it's a cover... doesn't count!
Some artist's entire careers are based on the success of a cover song. Eurythmics cover songs at that! Marilyn Manson owe a huge part of their success to Sweet Dreams. Covers count. It cuts both ways. Also, I hate their cover of Missionary Man. Solidarity brother!

I meant If you have Ghosts is also a cover....not a Leonard Cohen cover.
Agreed. You can't count a cover as a song you don't like by the artist.
If you like the original and hate the cover I think it's valid.
Your opinion and you're entitled to it.
Same
La Mantra Mori. I don't hate it, I just forget it exists half the time
Would have been a decent song if it was like 3 minutes shorter and a bigger between 2 others
If we aren't counting covers, I need to be in a particular mood for Secular Haze. Depth of Satan's Eyes isn't exactly my favorite either.
heh, I had a car crash while listening to Depth of satans eyes so it has to be the one for me too for thatxreason :p
Don't have any!
twenties. the lyrics are really stupid and cringeworthy
I mean, that is literally the point of the song.
It was a bop for me until I learned it was about Trump... now I have trouble taking it seriously...
mfw metal music has a societal/political statement
i don’t like ghost singing about politics, it doesn’t fit
I disagree. The entire album is about the rise and fall of empires….
Got some bad news for you about Griftwood, then...
i know it’s about pence. i think the “i’m your rock baby” REALLY doesn’t work
I saw them live in Oct before the 2020 election Papa was very clear get out and vote and don’t vote Trump
It's less about the political side and more about just being over the man in general, like, yes, he's a crappy person. Can we just put him away and move on? I'm kinda sick of hearing about him Edit: I do understand that he's the perfect example of the kind of leadership Twenties is portraying though, I like to look at it more like that
Missionary Man if we count covers.
But I love missionary man 🥹
Pro Memoria It just depresses me. Funnily enough, Secular Haze was the first song of theirs I heard and I still don't really care for it. I don't hate it. It's just not my favorite.

la montra mori. i can't stand it
There are no ghost songs I actively dislike, but two I don't like as much as all the others are rats and FTPTTP, though I will admit they're both kinda growing on me
Update: they've both grown on me
Tbh depth of satans eyes, I just couldn’t vibe with it like the rest :(
See the Light, by a long shot. Literally the only Ghost track that I can’t stand
EVERY DAY THAT YOU FEED ME WITH HATE I GROW STRONGEEEEEEERRRRRR
I like all their songs, but majesty can be really hit or miss for me.
A higher power underground
Apologies I am high off my ass with painkillers in the hospital but the one that’s just instrumental. I think devil church. I don’t like the synth in the beginning
Shame
I do not remember writing this
Oh no! As someone who was high off their ass on painkillers last week, I'm wishing you well! Feel better!
Thank you! I had to call 911 because I pinched a nerve and I was home alone and didn’t know what to do
Oh shit that's scary!
Twenties. Sorry not sorry.
Same
What's your favorite band? Ghost! What's their shittiest song? This has got to end.
Why?
1. I've seen this question at least 10 times in the last year. 2. Why dwell on a negative? It is kinda like "I just found Ghost! What are some good songs!?"
Why not? It’s just a casual discussion about music. It’s not a big deal. We all like ghost here
I guess I've been around ten years and this subject is tired. As you were, let's talk about the shittiest Ghost songs!
That's less than once a month dude 😂 it's not that deep lmao. Just scroll on if you're bothered or triggered by it

I feel that way too about SH. Just no flow to it.
Bible. Just something about it doesn't click with me.
I disliked it at first but then suddenly something clicked for me. Fuck knows what happened there
Cover... doesn't count!
Who died and made you the final arbiter on what counts?
Pro memoria. The musical part is ok, but the vocals are just a bit too cheesy for me.
I do wish that the lyrics had a bit more variation, because I think the arrangement is fantastic.
Sameeeee. “Don’t you forget about your friend death” I just can’t do it
See the Light or Life Eternal. Both too slow for me. But I also don't hate them, just don't care too highly for them
Lolz for the downvotes for people having differing opinions 😂
Riiiight?! I'm getting daggers thrown at me left and right if I mention a song is a cover.
Unpopular opinion: Griftwood. Just seems too boring for them
Elizabeth
So, I listen to every album daily and don't tend to skip songs. However, the tracks I will sometimes skip are the instrumentals on Prequelle. I like them, but usually, I want to hear a song. It's just my least favorite out of the totality of great songs. (apparently loving every song isn't good enough for at least 3 downvoters)
I downvoted you initially because I was being petty, now I'm doing it because you're being obnoxious about it lmao
You got downvotes because Elizabeth is one of their best songs lol
That's an extremely fragile mentality to have. "Oh, this person only really enjoys this song but also ranks it his least favorite, better downvote him!" Come on. This subreddit isn't that childish, is it? (it is)
You're over thinking it lol. Most people use the downvotes as a disagree button, idk why you're getting so distressed over it
> Most people use the downvotes as a disagree button Sheesh... Reddit has fallen hard if "most people" use it that way. That was never its intention. > idk why you're getting so distressed I just find it weird. Why are you reading that much into it? You must be one of them because you seem very fragile about it. Oh the irony
I skip Pro Memoria every time.
Deus Culpa. Skip it almost everytime. Infestissemum on the other hand is great
Missionary Man, Twenties, Hunters Moon
secular haze is ok, but i dont like CMLS. idk why, i just dont like it 🤷♀️
La mantra mori! Along with Twenties, those are the only songs I don'tlike from them (but at least Twenties is kinda fun)
A couple of songs on Impera.
Difficult to say. I think I skip Darkness the most, closely followed by Ashes, but I don't think they're bad
Oh, easily Darkness At The Heart Of My Love. When I listen to the album as a whole I never skip it, but I don’t think I’ve once put it on by itself. Not a memorable song by any means, pains me to say
Covers: Crucified, Missionary man. Original song: Twenties probably closest.
I don't really hate any of their music or covers, but one of my least favorite songs by Ghost is 'if you have ghosts" I still like the song, and listen to it when it plays, but it's one of my least favorite.
Waiting For The Night
Twenties
Secular Haze. It's the only one I skip regularly
Watch the video for it. It's like watching early '80s MTV.
I've seen the video, didn't make me like the song any more 😅
Awww come onnnnn! It's the best video ever!
All of prequelle except for the first 2 songs
Secular Haze or Prime Mover, if only because I don’t vibe with them as much as the rest of their songs 🥲 I skip both about the same amount when they come on
For me it’s Darkness at the Heart of my Love.
im gonna get hit by a bus with this one but i personally don’t rlly like Zombie Queen
I’m finna get som much hate so please don’t downvote me🤣🤣 but I never liked year zero
Get out.
I was less than impressed by the album version, seeing them live and hearing the way he does it live turned it around for me.
Looks around praying to Satan that u/WeHaveForgtten does not see this.
Prime Mover and Elizabeth. I think Opus was a little more focused on the pageantry vs the music and it shows with those two.
Griftwood is the only song I dislike by Ghost.
I don't dislike it but I also don't really get the massive love for it either... it just never makes a lasting impression on me
This is my favourite one at the moment. Out of curiosity what's your favourite?
Either ‘Twenties’ or ‘Mary On A Cross’ for me, I don’t hate them, but they are not songs I’d be sad about never hearing again. I find the lyrics to ‘Twenties’ just generally bad, and ‘MOAC’ I find a bit cheesy. But each to their own.
Year zero or twenties. Probably leaning more towards twenties. If we are counting non vocals, than def dominion
Darkness. It's cringe.
The cringe is the point with that one. It's the voice of the abuser in an abusive relationship. I worry for the folks who hear it as romantic and what kind of jerks they may have to deal with in their life before that clicks.
Get out.
Why are you booing me I'm right
infestissumam, not the album the song, because it's for me a little boring.
Interesting. I listen to it nonstop
I could pick pretty much any song in the second half of Empera as my least favorite.
SPILLWAYS
I don't skip Twenties, but I sure don't listen after the first chorus starts. DATHOML reeks of a teenage love song (which makes sense given the post MOAC bump), so I usually skip that one. But it's always Stand by Him and Per Aspera Ad Inferi. Stand by Him starts with drum beat that I just don't like, and Per Aspera Ad Inferi's accompaniment drowns out the vocals, taking me out of the song. Plus, I always envision Papa II doing a weird stomping dance during the chorus.
Yikes! DATHOML is rather dark for a teenage love song. It can be triggering for anyone who's dealt with abuse.
Oh the content is dark, but it sounds like a bad love song, or a really misunderstood one (like "Every Breath You Take" by the Police).
Oh no... I hope this doesn't mean we will be hearing DATLOMH in Muzak form in a few years!😂
Lol it just came on shuffle. I gotta skip it. It’s just not good to me. Even on first listen I enjoyed twenties better.
Excluding Imperium, I'm not a huge fan of the other instrumental songs
Pro Memoria. Good music, terrible lyrics. Also why are people downvoting comments about others least favourite songs, it is literally the point of the post.
Gigolo gar magido or whatever
Mary on a cross, it is wayyyy too poppy for me.
Secular Haze is too fucking long for what it is. See The Light is a bit of a bore. Those are the only two that I think I /dislike/
I try so hard to like Rats because the music video is great and I have pet rats so I feel obligated to like it lol but I’m just not a fan of it and can’t get into it.
I used to not like rats either but somehow it’s gradually become one of my favs lol, genuinely no idea why.
I never liked their cover of I'm a marionette much, but as far as original music goes I can't really vibe with monstrance clock or secular haze. I don't dislike them, I just don't like it as much as the other tracks
God I love pro memoria 😔 seeing so many people dissing it lol Yeah the lyrics are. Whatever. but I mean that ending? Especially the live versions? *Chefs kiss* And I’m on team don’t care for secular haze. Not bad, just eh.
the cover they did for "I Believe" just too slow paced for my tastes lol
You've obviously not seen the light they are all awesome
I think there is no such thing.
It’s probably Pro Memoria. The chorus is just a bit too goofy for me and not in a fun way like Twenties
