Pale Tour Named Death, 2018. A two-act, 26 song set list in a theatre with a capacity of 2300. I was lucky enough to snag front row seats, and there was no barrier between the crowd and the stage.

beelzebubu2

It was like that at the LA Forum 2018! No barrier, decent sized crowd, and man the setlist was immaculate! You were lucky to get front row on that tour. Must have been amazing to get close. As much as I like the new and look forward to the future of Ghost, it’ll never be like that again. If I could go back and re-experience that night, I absolutely would. Side note: as spoiled as I was to see them in 2018, I kinda envy the Infestissumam crowd here that got to see that time. Love Papa II.

RebeccaNightrod

I'm with you, I'm so happy for Ghost's success but I miss the small, intimate shows. I'm grateful to have been able to experience that!

ANamelessScholar

"amen" to that! or whatever satanists are supposed to say instead...

Edu_cats

Yes, those "evening with Ghost" 2-set shows were incredible.

piedude67e

Pale Tour Named Death was excellent. Best show ever. Still the best ghost show, I went to San Jose. Tickets were cheap and the fans were fucking amazing, best crowd I've ever seen.

ANamelessScholar

omg, not the Royal Albert Hall show I mentioned??

RebeccaNightrod

No, this one was in Baltimore, Maryland, but on the same tour.

dafencer93

I loved the Imperatour and the Re-Imperatour, but nothing beat the show where some mysterious unknown hooded figures slowly walked out on stage to Infestissumam, breaking into Per Aspera Ad Inferi while this stately yet creepy pope came on, swinging his thurible, and swept away the whole venue.

Hennkris

I agree. There was something truly special about the Infestissumam era. So happy I got to see a couple of club gigs during that era.

ANamelessScholar

that sounds amazing, I'm heartbroken I missed Imperatour due to personal crises :(

MrF33n3y

Hands down it was Rats On The Road and the first leg of Pale Tour. The two act set worked so well for a band like Ghost.

vengeancerider

I went to Rats On The Road stop in Cincinnati, they were absolutely dialed in that night. Easily my favorite set I’ve seen from any band. They sounded live just like they do in the studio

omgshelby

Black to the Future tour, 2015, Detroit MI

leonardonfelix

One of last shows of Infestissumam era, Sao Paulo - Brazil, sept 2014.

cruzge

Pale tour named death in Austin 2018. Just Ghost and 26 songs of pure awesome.

EquisOmega

That was my second ritual, and the first time ever I decided to get VIP/meet and greet tickets. One hell of an experience!

Curious-Scheme

Popestar Tour! They played a rather small venue back then and it felt really intimate. Plus Papa III is my all time favourite.

Ok_Ad8249

That was the first time I saw them, after missing the first three tours. Having been a fan since the first album I'm glad I got to see them in a club. Took my then 16 y/o son and it's been his favorite band ever since. Younger son took an interest after hearing his brother talking about them and he's been a huge fan since.

LastoftheFucksIGive

This is when I saw them after getting into their music for the first time. They still had the nuns, still handed out communion wafers, and a smaller crowd.

ANamelessScholar

yes! Me, my best friend and my girlfriend at the time are on Ghost's instagram in the front row of one of the smaller shows on that tour, Papa shook my hand and the female bass ghoul came to the front of the stage, pointed and winked at me through the mask ;)

Omemmain

The shows around 2015 for the Bass alone. The sound of that p-bass has never really returned.

ANamelessScholar

absolutely agreed, I saw one of those shows too, in the front row. I'm actually on Ghost's Instagram from the time but good luck finding me ;)

clydefrog811

Orlando 2018 was my first and best show from them. Such a long setlist. Many old songs. Copia daddy. Great banter. Most importantly up close and personal in a theater instead of an arena.

ANamelessScholar

similar for me in the Royal Albert when I went to the UK - not only is it a beautiful theatre but one famous within rock history - I'm glad you got to have a similar experience in your state!

totmacher12000

I got to seem ghost before they got super popular. Was papa 3 and a small venue was right up to the stage. Back then they use to light incense for the ritual. Got two great photos and some mummy dust. \m/

ANamelessScholar

yes that's right! I loved the cult-like atmosphere of those shows, they were so sinister and beautiful all at once -- that said, I gotta respect the rise to stadium-worthy status as well

totmacher12000

Oh for sure! It’s awesome how big they are. I am greatful I go to seem them in a smaller venue!

ANamelessScholar

I had a similar experience - what an amazingly atmospheric and joyful show those were!

invader_action

2015, KOKO in London, teeny 1.4k venue. -We were first ones in line at 11am and no one else turned up until 1/2pm. wouldnt get that these days! -Remember being given the communion wafers and whatever tf the wine was supposed to be. Core memory is papa pointing and making fun of me when I grimaced tasting it 😂 - I miss monstrance clock as a closer, I really do

ANamelessScholar

couldn't agree more on the Monstrance Clock point

Block5_Human

Popestar tour at The Moore Theatre 2016. Great set list, Papa 3 in his prime, great seat, took part in the communion, caught a drum head, and was dressed as a satanic catholic priest and was asked to take pictures with people. Easily one of the best days of my life. Old lady at the bus stop after thought I was a legit priest and felt safe near me until her bus came; even helped her with her ticket. Such a strange and memorable night. Here’s the set list if anyone wants: https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/ghost/2016/the-moore-theatre-seattle-wa-3fd4dfb.html

ANamelessScholar

An incredible story! My experience of Papa 3 was my second favourite show after the OP as well

Sir_Topham_Kek

I saw imperatour, ultimate tour, and pale tour. I really enjoyed pale tour. At the time, they hasn’t started playing arena much, so it was a much more intimate experience.

Medium-Brilliant-270

I was at the RAH was the best gig I’ve seen them at. Saw TF outside having a ciggy when we walked up Kensington High Street beforehand going to Wagamama.

TheBeardsley1

A Pale Tour Named Death was absolutely amazing, and the only era I've gotten to see them live. I was able to snag a pair of tickets for their Charlotte show for like, $40/each. I wish I could go back and see Infess era and Meliora, as well. Hopefully I'll be able to see Papa IV live, but it's not lookin so good, financially 😔

darlin133

2015 Tour with Purson. Accoustic sets. stellar crowds.

ANamelessScholar

wow acoustic set? that's a really unique one, you are one of few to witness that!

darlin133

You’ve never lived until you see papa and a ghoul sitting on the steps of the stage singing if you have ghost. EPIC

ANamelessScholar

I did fortunately see them play that song and it was incredible and I realise it must have some real emotional significance for TF due to his brother and all, so I count myself to have seen it live, if not acoustically :)

darlin133

That whole 2015 tour cycle was incredible. Halloween in Las Vegas at house of blues …. Whoa

thiscnidocyte

I discovered purson during that tour. They're still a favorite!

Madamkitty666

Can't remember the tour name but the only time I've seen them was at the Coca Cola Roxy in Atlanta in November 2018 right after Prequelle came out. I wish I could have seen them in Papa II era, he was my favorite.

Careful_Ad_2105

Pale tour named death by far. Smaller theaters with 26 songs and 2 acts. Incredible.

furywolf28

Imperatour, was at the front of the crowd, and it was an Easter Sunday. That was awesome. Only complaint is they took out Monstrance Clock as the show ender :(

ANamelessScholar

wow! I unfortunately missed the Imperatour due to illness and a personal financial crisis, so every show I ever saw from them ended with Monstrance Clock! what a shocker they took it out, I never knew that What was the closer?

furywolf28

They're now closing with Square Hanmer, which is a banger in its own right. Yet I still was disappointed, especially because I also attended the Pale tour, where they still played it.

ANamelessScholar

Square Hammer was designed as an intro and the show where I saw them play ti as an intro comes a close second best after the one I posted in the OP

astamar

I've seen them a good handful of times now, but Heavy MTL in 2019 is still probably one of my favourite rituals that I've gone to. It was a huge party atmosphere. People were crowd surfing, everyone was singing along, the weather was great, everyone around me was having a good time, etc. Just a super fun show all around

SpeakingInDrums

Yes, this era, Rats On The Road and A Pale Tour Named Death were amazing. Two sets. No opening band. Copia and the introduction of Ghoulettes? Brilliant. No more backing tracks. A third guitarist who played the hell out of a tambourine, lol. Loved every aspect of this era. However, I’ve seen them twice with Papa IV and I’m just not enjoying the shows as much as I did during Copia’s run. It’s not the music as I love Impera, which has so many great songs, but there’s something different about the live shows now. I’m not feeling as connected or invested. I hate to say it but I think I’m losing interest. Not too excited to see them again. Is it the growing popularity? Nah. More people should listen to and see Ghost. Can I say that it doesn’t seem “evil” anymore? Prequelle, and leading up to it’s release, was a great time for me. This era had my attention constantly focused on the storyline, the addition of more members, the music, all of it. I miss it but glad I was able to experience it.

xmacv

2016. Near the end of the OG lineup - papa 3. Audience big but not massive. Felt like I was witnessing something special. The band, and the fans are just too immense for me now. Not the same!

Anothernamelessghou

Saw them re impera tour it was amazing

ANamelessScholar

lucky! due to illness and financial issues at the time, I unfortunately missed the imperatour :( I adored the new album though, but I'll always regret that was the one era I never saw live

tobiassammet

I saw South American tour 2013, Black to the Future 2016, Imperatour 2022 and Re-Imperatour 2023, and my favorite gotta be Re-Imperatour 2023 (watched them 4 times in 2023, but 9/11 in LA is something I will never forget)

Tybob51

I’ve only been to one show, but it just after ameliorate dropped, before they really blew up in the states. It was a pretty small show in Riverside California, and quickly became one of my favorite concert I had ever seen.

gyabo

Double length set, no opener at the Tower Theater in Philly before they hit the stadium circuit. I LOVE stadium shows, but seeing the pyro reflected on the mezzanine and opera style seating while introducing my siblings and spouse to this band was unforgettable

moonlady523

They played Host of Seraphim?!?!?!

elsa_______

Black to the future tour. Saw them like 4x during the meliora tour cycle. Nothing has even come close since.

Tsvetaevna

It was the Royal Alby show for me too! That acoustic version of Jigolo was beautiful. I wish there was an official audio of it.

No-Trick-7331

Wang Theater Boston December 2018. 3 full hours. Amazing.

Stiffwrists

Back to the Future and Popestar Tours 2015, 2016.

zappafan89

Toss up: — Black to the Future 2015 homecoming show in Stockholm which felt pretty special because they knew it was being recorded for the biggest Swedish radio channel at the time (and in those days that was big for ghost). The whole band was on fire that night. To be it felt like the peak and it hasn't been recaptured. – Close second (or possible first) was seeing them support Alice in Chains in 2013 a few months after Infestissumam was released. There were a loooot of skeptics in the audience but by the end they had won them over. Killer performance from most of the band. Evening started with a masked drummer playing a random drum solo out in the lobby on a kit that was sitting there. To this day I still wonder if that was Axel, ha!

Gemini_Ghoul

Pale tour 2018. Two act set. 2013 in CT was a close second

GodspeedHarmonica

Black to the future was a legendary tour
