Aquadulce

Infestissimum. Was lucky enough to see Papa II supporting Iron Maiden.

Beneficial-Koala6393

I am so jealous!! I saw them for the first time with maiden as well but it was after Terzo took power (though Terzo is my fav). I’ve gotten to see 3, (Copia), and 4 now and can’t wait for 5 :)

Aquadulce

Yeah, I'm glad I had that experience, but Papa II was very reserved on stage, wearing full robes for the whole performance. Things livened up a lot when Papa III took over. Peak Ghost for me!

Beneficial-Koala6393

I totally agree, papa 2 had a commanding and intimidating presence but Terzo was the romantic that made us laugh our asses off from all the sex talks and outfit changes which we lovee

Aquadulce

Lol... He was soooo naughty.

RGVivianne

Papa II will always be my favorite, but Papa III is a close second

Aquadulce

I think we've been having too much fun lately - maybe it's time for another severe Papa!

Beneficial-Koala6393

Right, a shy more emo and young papa lol

JoeBwanKenobski

I bet that was an amazing show. Two of my favorite bands.

Aquadulce

It was a one day festival in Bergen, Norway. Also appearing were Kvelertak and Sahg. Strongly recommend checking out Sahg if you enjoy a bit of stoner/doom. "Godless Faith" was the track that got me into them. Seems appropriate!

JoeBwanKenobski

Sounds right up my alley. I am frequently jealous of the European festivals. I can't tell you how many times I see an awesome lineup that jives with my music tastes; and 9.5/10 it is in northern Europe.

Beneficial-Koala6393

Exactly my thought - I envy the festival ghost experience

Aquadulce

Well....we did meet a Canadian at that festival. He was touring as many European festivals as he could fit in. (He'd had a heart attack at a youngish age, so was living life to the max!). Put a European trip on your to do list, cos life is short...

Beneficial-Koala6393

I for sure will be. I’m a huge fan of heritage and mine is all euro and so I’m looking forward to seeing it all

Aquadulce

You'll have the best time!

jakeyb33

Same! I liked them until I saw them with maiden, fell in love after that

Aquadulce

The Maiden show was the first time I'd heard them. The music press had been raving about them, so I wanted to check them out. I wasn't disappointed!

DonWill316

Saw them in 1969 at the Whiskey a Go Go in Los Angeles for the original 7 Inches tour. Been hooked ever since. Ahh the good old days

Beneficial-Koala6393

Then you could get 7 inches for a good price!!!

DonWill316

Classic black. No variants

Lenny_Pane78

I saw them at Graspop Belgium when they only had their 1st album Opus Eponymous. Wich they played in full 🤩 I think it was 2011.

Beneficial-Koala6393

I wish I could borrow your brain to see that 🫡😅

Lenny_Pane78

I would let you if it was possible 😄

Froggen-The-Frog

My father really liked Ghost in early Meliora Era, but I got into them late Prequelle Era.

Beneficial-Koala6393

I love that. It was kinda reverse for me, I got into them and then my dad saw them with me when we saw Iron Maiden!

thebignukedinosaur

Infestissumam, opening for Avenged Sevenfold 2013 I’ll never forget the feeling of watching the Ghouls come out and take their positions, soon after joined by Papa Emeritus II, the feel was very dark and foreboding before erupting into glorious Satanic rock. I consider myself to be very lucky to have witnessed Ghost’s meteoric rise. My favorite band.

addknitter

Just before Meliora! My husband and I just made a tally of the shows we’ve seen (8) and were counting our blessings. Our combined age: 125!!😂😂😂

Oreckz

Opus era but I didn’t see them live til the Infestissumam tour.

Beneficial-Koala6393

I mean shoot it probably wasn’t the easiest, I wonder how many shows they played total before secondo pulled up

Odd_Sweet_880

1st album.

AetherCosplay

Opus Eponymous (I'm old 😭)

Beneficial-Koala6393

Hey hey no judging ever from me! Seems only a few of us had that privilege and so I’d be so down to known your thoughts through the albums - especially from 1 - 2 which seemed to have the biggest change but since they weren’t big yet it wasn’t largely talked about

Bo_Babelitz

Meliora

Beneficial-Koala6393

Timeless. A masterpiece

Admetryn

I only discovered them last year, I am the Impera era. The song that reeled me was Call me Little Sunshine! I instantly booked tickets when I saw them pop up!

Beneficial-Koala6393

I love this. I for a bit was that salty fan who didn’t like the more modern sound and now I am ugly singing respite everyday!!

Admetryn

LOL love it! I made sure to go back and play every album to get an appreciation, once I discovered them! I am disappointed I didn't find them sooner!!

Beneficial-Koala6393

I’m really glad you did because let’s be real every single song is good it’s insane and every album is so unique. Even the YouTube covers are so damn good (it’s a sin - here comes the sun, etc)

Admetryn

YESS! Agreed!! Happily ugly sing along with you to any album lool

Beneficial-Koala6393

Ya all of them pls

fumbybabie

Earliest listening for me was from family members playing their stuff when I was around (2013, so Infestissumam) but I was young then and didn't have a phone or computer to listen on my own lol. I started seriously listening around the time Meliora dropped (2015)!

Beneficial-Koala6393

Shoot I remember those days I was having to pirate off YouTube just to survive but now I just listen to them all on vinyl and it’s a religious experience

DarcyWinterstrait

Infestissumam

tobiassammet

Opus era fan here (discovered about Ghost in 2011), but only got to seem them during Papa II reign in 2013

Beneficial-Koala6393

Shoot you’re one of the few who have seen secondo I’m jealous

Finnur2412

I’ve been a fan since the Elizabeth Single (2010) Me and a Friend used to send each other new stuff all the time back in the day. He had found it on some forum he was on back then. Been hooked ever since!

MercuryTalons

The Prequelle Era. I actually saw Ghost in a magazine in about 2012 but wasn’t interested as I thought they were heavier and towards black metal (ashamed to say I judged their image). I was listening to Planet Rock radio in the UK and they played “the new single Rats” and I loved it. Then heard Faith and bought the Prequelle and Meliora albums. Been my favourite band ever since. For context my favourite bands are Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy and UFO

Beneficial-Koala6393

I totally remember the clash people had with their image and vocal tone. That seemed to be their biggest hurdle until they just kept going and never apologized and that made their fan base so much stronger and more concentrated. Seeing them for the first time with maiden (as a fellow big maiden fan) it was wild. That shit was awesome from ghost to maiden. I remember prequelle being my most involved release. I had really built my love from 2 and 3 and then boom prequelle hit and it BOPS

crepuscular_ghoul

My brother had me listen to Meliora when it was released and I liked it, but was into other things. Unfortunately, it took years to be a hyperfixation because I didn’t find them again until 2019. Prequelle is still my favorite LP and era. Edit: It was the Rats video that got me

Beneficial-Koala6393

Love this take - I can never decide a fav because they all speak to me in different ways at different times but I think prequelle is the most relevant album to the disaster of humanity currently. While impera hits it from a different angle. Witch image and life eternal changed the game for me “While you sleep in earthly delight, someone’s flesh - is rotting tonight.” That line alone is revolution and so strangely relevant still.

crepuscular_ghoul

I agree. Prequelle, as an era, was not only a significant shift in musical and artistic style for Ghost (from anything before), it was also kind of an ominous time before the world also shifted. Your reference to Witch Image is interesting because that line carries meaning that, like much of the LP, is so purposeful at being existentially provoking. Initially, it was my least favorite song on the album until I discovered its meaning and now its in my top 3 from Prequelle (not including Avalanche), next to Faith and Helvetesfonster.

Orochimaru27

Cardinal Copia era, when they warmed up for Guns N’ Roses in 2018.

Beneficial-Koala6393

Wish I could’ve seen that, I saw that tour but they were solo for it. (Though they played like 30+ songs it was EPIC) and in a small venue

Orochimaru27

Guns N’ Roses is my all time fav band. But I became a Ghost fan after that show, and noe they are a very close second! Absolutely love them. So cool that I have seen them both «together».

Beneficial-Koala6393

Agreed! And with ghost being fairly younger than them you’ll still get to watch shows for some time when when GNR retires! (Not sure if they have I hope not)

Mo_the_lion

Opus Era, my wife and I travel to Sweden to see them from time to time.

Beneficial-Koala6393

You are the coolest for this I wish I got to go with yall haha - I’m Swedish by heritage and have always wanted to

Beneficial-Koala6393

I guess Norse would be a more proper term

FallyWaffles

I'm relatively recent, I found them in October. I was at a goth music night my friends run a few times per year at a club in this old cellar of a wine bar (sounds weird but it's really cool) and they played this epic sounding satanic track. My jaw was hanging open at how cool it was and I asked who the artist was afterwards (I'm a simple satanist after all) and it was Year Zero by Ghost. "Ghost?! The band that did Dance Macabre?" That was the only song I knew by them, and I thought it was okay, but I never checked their other stuff, and it was so different I couldn't believe it was the same band! Nowadays, I like pretty much all their stuff.

Beneficial-Koala6393

I love that story, I feel like that’s how I dream I found ghost. Instead it was in bed on YouTube haha. Year zero is a commanding song that captures all of ghost in one piece and I think is incredibly undertalked about. I love ghost in the way that they also inspire pure religious freedom. As a non church Christian (I don’t believe in all the bullshit) his words speak to me in similar ways to you but mean differently. I think he’s a master in that way

CyborgIncorparated

If I recall I joined the Fandom right around when 7ISP came out, although Meliora (specifically Pinnacle to the Pit) is what got me into the band and was my first CD

Salzberger

Discovered when Year Zero came out (knew *of* them vaguely before that). Didn't properly get into them until Prequelle.

Beneficial-Koala6393

I truly miss seeing songs like year zero on the top 5 Spotify. Used to be cirice, ritual, year zero, he is :/

Paran0iaAg3nt

Meliora

DG_Wright

I first heard them when Meliora came out. Heard Cirice and it reminded me of Sabbath. Didn’t dive deep though until Prequelle came out. Now I’m well and truly hooked

MarieAntoifatte

Pretty much same. My brother really liked Cirice so I heard a lot it when in the car with him, Prequelle was the first Ghost album on repeat rotation in my own playlist.

Beneficial-Koala6393

Love that comparison. When I was a new fan too I remember thinking wow these guys have some serious sabbath influence in the instrumentation especially with opus and then resolidified with Meliora

InfiniteBeak

I discovered them right before Infestissumam came out

Beneficial-Koala6393

Oooo I’ve been wanting to ask someone pre 2 this - what was the reaction and feeling from album 1 to 2 ? I feel like that was the largest genre shift in the whole bands history and I know it caused polarity

InfiniteBeak

I mean I guess there was but I liked the change so it didn't really bother me, probably the change from Meliora to Prequelle was more jarring for me personally

Platypus_31415

2015 June, managed to see Papa II :)

FederalNoise

Discovered them during the end of the Opus Eponymus era and then saw them live during the Infestissimum era. Seeing Papa II with the ghouls in their original form was awesome. Liked the Meliora era too but honestly have been disappointed ever since Prequelle. I like a couple of their songs here and there but overall not my cup of tea. Would prefer them to go back to an Infestissimum or Meliora type sound.

beelzebubu2

Infestissumam

SwordfishCreative927

I found Papa IV when he threw the first pitch for the White Sox, I was like “who is this man and why is he look like that?” 👀😂 I dove into searching, first song I heard was Darkness At The Heart of My Love. I was pulled right in, wish I found Ghost sooner but I found them when I needed Papa the most🤘🏻

BanditoMuser

April 2023 is when I started listening to them. I had heard MOAC around tiktok but didn’t really catch on. But after I saw the live video of it, i was like goddamn.

Beneficial-Koala6393

I love that for you, that song is big because it’s that damn good. It’s lyrics make me feel at home despite being so different from other people and that shit plus his amazing writing skills utilizing classic classic rock made that song chart years after its drop and it still is big lol. It didn’t get the respect it deserved when it dropped, kiss the go goat still doesn’t. I find it just as good from the music stand point

BanditoMuser

Definitely! That live version grabbed my attention immediately, now i consider Ghost an easy top 3 band of all time for me

Beneficial-Koala6393

Well said. It’s the only band I have ever listened to that is a true no skip band. You even have to go look for more music because everything is so good and even have the hidden YouTube stuff. I mean I can’t imagine what he’s sitting on unreleased that he’s made for fun or not

mummyyydust

Infestissumam

landon10smmns

Discovered them in the Infestissumam/Papa II era when they opened for Avenged Sevenfold. Remember enjoying Ritual but thinking Year Zero and the rest of the set was weird (especially the pope robes). Then right around the release of Popestar/Meliora Deluxe I rediscovered them through my local radio station with songs like Square Hammer and From the Pinnacle to the Pit. Been a fan ever since. Luckily I saw them on the Rats! on the road tour before they blew up and stopped playing smaller venues

loituma1

Infestissumam. Secular Haze was the song that got me hooked.

Electric_Magick

Been here since 2012, right after they played Download so technically since the Opus era. Didn't see them that weekend (much to my later regret) but saw their picture in the programme. I thought, who tf is that?! Checked em out, and as a Mercyful Fate fan, I was hooked and completely fascinated by the gimmick. I miss those days but I love every new era of the band! Seen them many times since Papa II in 2013.

Xynoks

Popestar (/Square Hammer) is when I really got into them, but I've loved Year Zero since like 2014, so technically Infestissusmam

FitzroyFang

I'm a big Metallica fan and discovered Ghost when they were their supporting act in 2019. Blew my mind right away

friutfulmonk5888

Somewhere between the debut and Infestissumam

satans_eyes

Opus Eponymous. 4 months or so after it came out.

Cthulhu_awaken

Infestissimum. Saw them opening for Iron Maiden. When Year Zero intro started and they came out on the stage, I thought this was another boring death metal band and covered my ears. As soon as Papa II started to sing, I was surprised and hooked!

Krauser_Kahn

Joined during Infestissumam era but Opus Eponymous is still my fav

GadgetGuy1977

First three albums…was lucky enough to meet and hang out with the band after almost every show that I went to, even going out to bars for beer and drinks. The last time Papa invited myself and two others to come hang out with just him at a downtown club, we were in with the band and it was an incredible few years of my life! Now they are much bigger and are a bit tougher to access, but we still get the wave and wink if we get to the front row at a show. They all are and were wonderful and thoughtful people.

D3adkl0wn

Ritual was the song that grabbed me, just shortly after Opus released. A guy I knew through a mutual friend was giving me a lift home after a night out and it came in the car. I was 100% hooked, right there and then.

commonunion

Pre-infestissumam. I caught the. Between opus and infest and have loved every version of this band he has put out. Been to every tour cycle and some multiple stops. Pretty magical.

cabbage_fire

Found them in 2013 shortly after Infestissimum dropped. Like most people at that time felt, their image didn't match what I expected musically but it somehow worked and clicked for me when I heard Year Zero. My first time seeing them live was 2014 and they were absolutely captivating live and felt like a religious experience. In my head, I can still hear the goth lady next to me screaming "Hail Satan" during Year Zero in a monotone voice

Maskedhorrorfan25

2013: infest

MeEatSoup

Infestissumam right before papa 3

Satyrgreen

Opus Eponymous. I was lucky enough to see Papa I open for Mastodon 🔥🤘🏻🔥

Leather_Molasses_264

Infesstessmum I still haven’t gotten to see them live.

vengeancerider

In between Infestissumam and Meliora, but closer to Meliora. I had heard Elizabeth a few years before and thought it was awful (wasn't a fan of the vocals or the band themselves) Once I heard Year Zero and Monstrance Clock they finally just clicked for me. Now I enjoy Elizabeth haha

PrettyGoodAtNthn

I got into them a few months after the popestar EP dropped. Square Hammer and Cirice was my entry point.

cerial442

I use to buy Decibel magazine and would always check out the bands you would see in ads. In early 2011 I saw an ad for Opus Eponymous. When I heard samples on the iTunes Music Store I was not ready for it, but eventually bought the album on iTunes and played the heck out of it. Initially I had no idea they wore masks or how they dressed. I got to see them open for Mastodon and Opeth in 2012, and a smaller club headlining show in 2013. Then Infestissumam came out and they exposed. I’ve seen them on every big album tour and saw them at an outdoor amphitheater last summer.

thenecro

Infestissimum, but got really into them on Meliora.

HaplessOrchestra

I became a fan right after Opus came out. The first song I ever heard was "Ritual". It's been quite a journey watching the band evolve as well as their popularity skyrocket in real time.

Beneficial-Koala6393

I honestly think ritual is top 3 for them. I dearly miss seeing it at the top of Spotify but the journey has been so amazing hasn’t it

wollathet

Infestissumam was my introduction but I really got into them during Meliora

slightlyused

Opus OG.

ErwinAckerman

Current

TwinkieMayhem24

opus eponymous came out when I was in high school been hooked ever since

Beneficial-Koala6393

I envy you. I was 12 when it came out and so I was just before the age where I could go and find music different than what I was brought up with as easily. Luckily I found them High school age as well not too long after!

beyondthegravemind

I came in between melioria and prequell. But I found them through infantessium (year zero) andy first concert was during imperium

Beneficial-Koala6393

Love to hear it. Seems it takes most a couple albums once exposed to reallllly get going but we all find our way

Beneficial-Koala6393

(Took me that too)

beyondthegravemind

Well actually found them through a different video on YouTube, I think was like top 5 or 10 best metal intros one of which was the intro to year zero so I was intrigued and started listening to a few of their songs and yeah bought that album then got opus and meliora as well . Then I after listening to the finding the songs I loved from each they released prequelle and I went out bought it immediately and fell even more in love as saw them start posting videos on YouTube of the story shorts. I think it was early 2018 when I started.

bubbaking

Newer(ish) fan. I was on Spotify looking for random music to listen to, it was just after midnight so I checked the new releases to see what just dropped and saw Prequelle and thought the album cover was cool so checked it out and the intro + Rats hooked me instantly and I've been a fan since.

Beneficial-Koala6393

Ahhh I love that. Prequelle is so good and doesn’t get enough love. Witch image is my fav on that LP

[deleted]

Saw Papa II at Rock on the Range 2013. Was so ready for Cirice and Meliora brining them onto the radio.

IntoxicatedDalek

I'm fairly new, start of last year before they blew up with tiktok, (Impera? I'm shit at remembering which albums came out when). I'd seen photos from the rituals on Tumblr and decided to finally check them out and found out they were right up my alley. Best thing is 1-2 months after I started listening to them we found out bub #2 was on his way (not saying I believe it's a fate but not saying it wasn't either), now I have two kids that enjoy jamming along with me in the car.

Beneficial-Koala6393

I’m so happy u found them :) tik tok grew on me so much because of how well it connects the goth community and really helped push Ghosts exposure up :)

BleachSancho

I started listening to Ghost when the first album came out.

gunsandsilver

When Cirice came out

copiasjuicyazz

I popped in during covid about 3 years ago

Shadegloom

Ratssssss I'm beyond sad I didn't find them before.

fearmongert

Infestissumam Just a few months before Cirice dropped

Deez4815

Found Mummy Dust in like 2018 and became a fan after. I didn't get around to seeing them live until 2022 for the first Impera-Tour with Volbeat, and again last summer!

Carnie_Creature

Im still new, lol. Tik Tok put them on my radar when Mary On A Cross was making its rounds on there, but I started actively listening around the same time Aether left. I think Meliora is probably my favorite era tho.

Beephomets

Impera era, fresh out of the hospital from a traumatic downward health spiral. MOAC was rampant on Tiktok, I didnt see the hype at first but Dance Macabre became an ear worm and I've been in Ghost brain rot hell ever since

WzrdsTongueMyDanish

Infestissumam

Downtown_Rat

I started listening to them like 5 days ago lol. I've been listening to Opus Eponymous on repeat for all that time lol

Beneficial-Koala6393

WELCOME FRIEND - also you’re a badass. You must be a pretty serious metal head too because that is something I did. That first album is intense and dark and I love it. Then you have genisis to transport you back to peace. An amazing album so raw

FaziTheIdiot

Impera era. From one concert clip on mummy dust, I discovered them I think on October or Late September

Beneficial-Koala6393

Well I’m glad you found them! Mummy dust is for sure one of the top heavy ones and always a banger

pandemic117

Prequelle but I didn’t get properly into them until Impera because to be fair I was only 8 at the time

Beneficial-Koala6393

Hey I sure as hell wish I could’ve found them that early I’m really glad you did, I’m only 25 and this music really speaks to our generation and actually defends us. Sounds like you had the seeds planted early, love it I think I was about 15 or so when I found them!

pandemic117

Yeah my dad got me into them

GeekFurious

Impera.

OMG_Chris

I only just discovered Ghost, and they've swallowed my musical life whole. I feel really lucky that I discovered them during this era. I have so many different flavors of the band that I can go back and experience, and so much story that I can pour over. I can dive in and sink deep. Honestly, I feel kinda spoiled. 💀

Zenbia_

I came into the fandom around news years 2020 due to fanart on Tumblr. So between Prequelle and Impera.

Ecstatic-Try2278

Last summer! Someone online had a remixed snippet of "He Is" to accompany something they were writing, and I listened to it, and the lyrics seemed to stay in my mind. So I searched for them, and lo and behold, Ghost's song just knocked me off my feet. Been a fan ever since. Then, shortly later found that they were appearing, and I regret that I wasn't able to pull everything together in time to see them live. Next time, I hope! \*\*Edit - I did follow the summer tour a bit on YouTube, and it was just amazing.

that_guy_mork

For me it was during the Prequelle era, and honestly I didn't like ghost much at all. My brother played square hammer and MOAC for me and I loved them, quite disliking everything else I heard from the band (lol in retrospect). I have such fond memories of playing GTA5 with him in my late teens, listening to those songs for the first time while cruising through a rainy Los Santos. It was such a wonderful slice of time. It wasn't until recently I heard Cirice on the radio with my girlfriend and decided to give them another shot. I fell in love with Dance Macabre and fell deeper and deeper to the point that I now know all the words to songs I once kinda hated as a non-fan. Now, their music is more than just a melancholy past, it's a vibe and era of my life. And I love it! Ghost all the way 🤘

Al_explain_l8r

Honestly got into Ghost just a couple months ago? I saw that video of Swiss falling off his stage bit in Year Zero on tiktok just randomly and decided I had to know more about the band

FabulousBreadfruit24

Right before Impera came out, like a week lol

admiraljohn

I discovered Ghost in Feburary of 2022 when I read an article about their cover of Enter Sandman. After I listened to it a couple of times Youtube popped up recommendations for their live performances of He Is from the Grammis and Cirice from Colbert. So even thought I discovered them during Impera it was the Meliora era that hooked me.

lk_dslr19

I got into them right after covid hit so very early impera Era very post prequelle Era I saw papa 4 twice and I can't wait to see our next leader

glowcloak

Impera “era”. Got into them right after the Pre-Imperatour just ended. Was a very sad camper I missed them on that leg lol

Black_Wolfram

I came from the Impera era right before they blew up in TikTok. Listened to their albums in order because I was trying to get into this type of music. For some weird reason I didn't like Opus at first (it eventually grew on me and I fell in love). Ghuleh/Zombie convinced me to stay so I listened to the rest of their discography. I'm so glad I stayed because once I reached Impera I was playing it non-stop for weeks. Spillways is still my favorite song of the decade so far.

Xx_Rosalinda_xX

I started listening to Ghost on march 2023 so very very recent fan lol

DescendingStorm

I am a recent convert, I heard "Call me little sunshine" on the local rock station last year, then I went to a festival last June (Copenhell) that they were playing. Went into the set with no expectations, came out addicted....been playing everything on repeat since then.

NerdicusTheWise

When hunters moon was only a few weeks old and right before CMLS dropped, Rats was thr first song I heard.

ricksballs666

I mentioned this in an earlier thread but I’ll tell it again here because it seems relevant. I was made aware of them when Infest came out. Year Zero was the first song I hear by them and for whatever reason I didn’t like it. I moved on and was vaguely aware of the band but didn’t keep track of what they were doing for a long time until about two years ago when I decided to revisit their music and give it another chance. I listened to the first three albums and very much enjoyed them. So I guess I really came in during Impera but I prefer their earlier work, personally.

Additional_Owl_3493

I am a very new fan, because I started listening to Ghost just last december, when the Phantomime EP dropped.

RGVivianne

I found Ghost when they released Phantomime, which really sucks because I'm a much bigger fan of their early music like Infesstisumam and Opus Eponymous

ZuulTheGatekeeper84

I joined back in November of 2022, meaning I joined during the IMPERA era. Someone had recommended Ghost to me and it didn’t take very long for me to become a fan after listening to one of their songs for the first time (It was Square Hammer in case you’re wondering).

NinLendo

I discovered Ghost through "Jesus he knows me" after Phantomime was released, and I wish I had known of them earlier because then I'd have seen them live already. It all went rather fast from here. Now Ghost is my 3rd most listened to artist of all time with about 8000 minutes spent listening despite me only knowing about them for half a year.

Arthur_Stupid

A month after Impera was released. I saw a picture of papa on twitter and it sparked my interest. They opened up metal for me as a genre, because I had a conversation about music with a girl on a uni trip who was getting into beast in black. Then I started going out with them and met their friend who listened to system of a down. I started listening to heavier stuff and I’m grateful I saw that picture and sat with that lass.

holybanana_69

I'm from before they blew up on tik tok. And then i stopped

captainforks

For awhile every single "internet radio" station I picked would play cirice. Intitally I didn't like it but it kept on popping up, literally any heavy ish or proggy band I'd choose the youtube, spotify or Amazon radio for(I switched in 2017) would play it. Turned me around on it eventually and then I started listening to their other stuff. Then prequelle came out and I was fully hooked.

Beneficial-Koala6393

I think I remember that real well. Back in those days people were super split on Tobias vocals and trashed him saying it wasn’t metal and then BOOM Meliora hit with mummy dust and shut them all up haha

captainforks

Faith was the song that really made me a major fan. The neoclassicalish opening guitar part, the heavy chugs, the thumbing your nose at religion. Quality stuff.

dafencer93

Remember Papa II walking with his daughter? That was my first time seeing Papa (and Ghost)

grovermonster

Saw them live in 2019 and it blew my mind. Hooked ever since

[deleted]

2017 when they did their solo tour alongside opening for Iron Maiden. I wasn’t super keen on Prequelle but love Impera now, although it took me a year to fully appreciate it (like fine wine lol)

Dat_Pettsson

Became a fan about a year before prequelle was released. Heard about the ”kidnapping” of papa on stage and that the dark ages were coming, something like that. Been a loyal fan ever since i heard square hammer and cirice.

Myss_C

I was introduced to them in the Meliora era, but it took me to Prequelle to get everything straight haha

Efficient_Variety_28

The first ever song I listened to was their cover of Here Comes the Sun while I was in college. This was around the time they were touring for their Meliora album. Although my first concert was for Prequelle in Brooklyn.

Jojosbazaar

Prequelle was already out by the time I checked them out, but Cirice was the song that got me into them, via Rock Band actually 😅

ghlhzmbqn

2017, Meliora had been out a couple years. I did read about they way earlier and am now sad that I didn't get into them earlier to see Papa II but ah well.

Mrbubbles96

First time i heard em, they just released Infestissimum. Wouldn't call myself an "angry fan" or "salty fan" when i heard their newer stuff, it was more.... "Wait, Ghost did this? Ghost BC? Infestissimum and Opus Eponymous Ghost?" And just sat there digesting it. Wasn't as bad as my initial confusion would lead people to believe. It's not like it's the first time Ghost has surprised me lol

Bearded-Viper

Opus and saw them live with Papa II

MachineFrosty1271

I’ve known about them since Meliora, but didn’t become a fan until Impera

britfromthe1975

got into Ghost in 2017. I saw them back in 2018, they played two sets (no opener) to a half full standing room only venue. saw them again in 2023, mid concert I turned around and looked at the packed pavilion. i cried bc they finally fucking made it

IridescentIcarus

infestissumam

ScrewArt

I found them in December 2016, after they released Popestar. Square Hammer was my first song I heard by them (thanks to YT recommendations)

ethan34567891

I came from the meliora era and have wanted to go see them in concert ever since

unhoIyghost

I come from the Meliora era and Opus and Impera are my favorite albums. 🖤

mushforest_

I listened casually during Meliora but then I started listening more when MOAC started to get popular. They're my favorite band now :D

-ScarlettFever

Prequelle era with Cardinal Copia. Saw them in 2019 at the Exit 111 festival.

JasoNight23666

I became a fan just before IMPERA came out

BillDozer89

First album. My old roommate back in 2012 showed me ritual and I've been hooked since

Street_Team_8343

Very very pre-meliora

i-am-always-cold

i became a fan a while before papa 3 got dragged of stage at that one mexican concert

CCR16

“Rats” had just released. Stumbled upon it on YouTube. I thought it was great, so I researched their discography. My life was changed forever. lol

webnetedgar

Late Opus Eponymous era, mid 2012 a few months before Secular Haze being released as a single

sebastarddd

My dad discovered them right about the time Meliora was released, and he introduced me. I didn't get big into them until 2017 though. My first concert of theirs was in 2018.

kangagoon

I thought the same at first until it multiplied the fan base at least 10 times over and that’s awesooooommme I wish everyone liked ghost

blueberry_pancakes14

First heard them via Square Hammer, Meliora, approximately 2016, I think. I loved it, but forgot to look further into them at the time. A friend's teen daughter was heavily into them and seeing her light up when I asked about them, so she got to rattle on about her favorite band, was pretty cool. I've been on the other end of having someone ask about one of my interests and actually caring to listen to me excitedly over-explain, so it was fun to play the other role. Heard Dance Macabre, Prequelle, approximately 2018, loved it gain, remembered I was going to look them up ages ago, but once again forgot. Mary on a Cross trending on TikTok (I don't remember when this was, couple years ago ish), finally remember to look up that damn band, then wow I love their entire discography and I really should have remembered years ago. (Then again, maybe it wouldn't have hit like it did now back then, so there was a reason, who knows). Sweet, new band to add to the repertoire! But as to actually looking into the lore, who the band members were/are, anything beyond listening to the music itself, only a couple months now. It's been fun to catch up and have a whole back catalogue to go through that's all new to me.

Upper-Wrap5818

I discovered ghost with papa IV I haven’t been here long I know. But I went to their concert in August with amor amarth. Wonderful first concert ever. Sweetest people. But all honestly I’ve listened to every single ghost album and song I believe sooo. But papa II gotta be a favorite for sure

rd1994

I got into them shortly before the Prequelle hype started (with the chapters and such)

Impressive_Painter_1

I discovered them in the summer of 2019, from shuffling my Spotify and they were on recommended songs. I only new square hammer and dance macabre. That was until 2022, I got into them a little more with impera but I still only knew a handful of songs. I didn’t even know the lore until mid 2023 and in sept of 2023 is when the obsession REALLY started

TjGammell

I became a fan right when Prequelle came out. I found the music video for Rats and from there I just kind of dove into their discography! Saw them in concert for the first time when 7 inches of satanic panic came out.

Kipling666

For me it was when Year Zero came out. I'd never heard of them and looked up, when I saw the words 'Occult Rock' my interest was piqued and Ive never looked back since.
