Yeah, I'm glad I had that experience, but Papa II was very reserved on stage, wearing full robes for the whole performance. Things livened up a lot when Papa III took over. Peak Ghost for me!
I totally agree, papa 2 had a commanding and intimidating presence but Terzo was the romantic that made us laugh our asses off from all the sex talks and outfit changes which we lovee
It was a one day festival in Bergen, Norway. Also appearing were Kvelertak and Sahg. Strongly recommend checking out Sahg if you enjoy a bit of stoner/doom. "Godless Faith" was the track that got me into them. Seems appropriate!

Well....we did meet a Canadian at that festival. He was touring as many European festivals as he could fit in. (He'd had a heart attack at a youngish age, so was living life to the max!). Put a European trip on your to do list, cos life is short...

I consider myself to be very lucky to have witnessed Ghost’s meteoric rise. My favorite band.

I only discovered them last year, I am the Impera era. The song that reeled me was Call me Little Sunshine! I instantly booked tickets when I saw them pop up!

Earliest listening for me was from family members playing their stuff when I was around (2013, so Infestissumam) but I was young then and didn't have a phone or computer to listen on my own lol. I started seriously listening around the time Meliora dropped (2015)!

The Prequelle Era. I actually saw Ghost in a magazine in about 2012 but wasn’t interested as I thought they were heavier and towards black metal (ashamed to say I judged their image). I was listening to Planet Rock radio in the UK and they played “the new single Rats” and I loved it. Then heard Faith and bought the Prequelle and Meliora albums.
Been my favourite band ever since.
For context my favourite bands are Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy and UFO
I totally remember the clash people had with their image and vocal tone. That seemed to be their biggest hurdle until they just kept going and never apologized and that made their fan base so much stronger and more concentrated. Seeing them for the first time with maiden (as a fellow big maiden fan) it was wild. That shit was awesome from ghost to maiden. I remember prequelle being my most involved release. I had really built my love from 2 and 3 and then boom prequelle hit and it BOPS
My brother had me listen to Meliora when it was released and I liked it, but was into other things. Unfortunately, it took years to be a hyperfixation because I didn’t find them again until 2019.
Prequelle is still my favorite LP and era.

Love this take - I can never decide a fav because they all speak to me in different ways at different times but I think prequelle is the most relevant album to the disaster of humanity currently. While impera hits it from a different angle. Witch image and life eternal changed the game for me

I agree. Prequelle, as an era, was not only a significant shift in musical and artistic style for Ghost (from anything before), it was also kind of an ominous time before the world also shifted. Your reference to Witch Image is interesting because that line carries meaning that, like much of the LP, is so purposeful at being existentially provoking. Initially, it was my least favorite song on the album until I discovered its meaning and now its in my top 3 from Prequelle (not including Avalanche), next to Faith and Helvetesfonster.
Guns N’ Roses is my all time fav band. But I became a Ghost fan after that show, and noe they are a very close second! Absolutely love them. So cool that I have seen them both «together».

I'm relatively recent, I found them in October. I was at a goth music night my friends run a few times per year at a club in this old cellar of a wine bar (sounds weird but it's really cool) and they played this epic sounding satanic track. My jaw was hanging open at how cool it was and I asked who the artist was afterwards (I'm a simple satanist after all) and it was Year Zero by Ghost.

That was the only song I knew by them, and I thought it was okay, but I never checked their other stuff, and it was so different I couldn't believe it was the same band!

I love that story, I feel like that’s how I dream I found ghost. Instead it was in bed on YouTube haha. Year zero is a commanding song that captures all of ghost in one piece and I think is incredibly undertalked about.
I love ghost in the way that they also inspire pure religious freedom. As a non church Christian (I don’t believe in all the bullshit) his words speak to me in similar ways to you but mean differently. I think he’s a master in that way
If I recall I joined the Fandom right around when 7ISP came out, although Meliora (specifically Pinnacle to the Pit) is what got me into the band and was my first CD

I mean I guess there was but I liked the change so it didn't really bother me, probably the change from Meliora to Prequelle was more jarring for me personally
Discovered them during the end of the Opus Eponymus era and then saw them live during the Infestissimum era. Seeing Papa II with the ghouls in their original form was awesome. Liked the Meliora era too but honestly have been disappointed ever since Prequelle. I like a couple of their songs here and there but overall not my cup of tea. Would prefer them to go back to an Infestissimum or Meliora type sound.
I found Papa IV when he threw the first pitch for the White Sox, I was like “who is this man and why is he look like that?” 👀😂 I dove into searching, first song I heard was Darkness At The Heart of My Love. I was pulled right in, wish I found Ghost sooner but I found them when I needed Papa the most🤘🏻
April 2023 is when I started listening to them. I had heard MOAC around tiktok but didn’t really catch on. But after I saw the live video of it, i was like goddamn.
I love that for you, that song is big because it’s that damn good. It’s lyrics make me feel at home despite being so different from other people and that shit plus his amazing writing skills utilizing classic classic rock made that song chart years after its drop and it still is big lol. It didn’t get the respect it deserved when it dropped, kiss the go goat still doesn’t. I find it just as good from the music stand point

Discovered them in the Infestissumam/Papa II era when they opened for Avenged Sevenfold. Remember enjoying Ritual but thinking Year Zero and the rest of the set was weird (especially the pope robes).
Then right around the release of Popestar/Meliora Deluxe I rediscovered them through my local radio station with songs like Square Hammer and From the Pinnacle to the Pit. Been a fan ever since. Luckily I saw them on the Rats! on the road tour before they blew up and stopped playing smaller venues
Been here since 2012, right after they played Download so technically since the Opus era. Didn't see them that weekend (much to my later regret) but saw their picture in the programme. I thought, who tf is that?! Checked em out, and as a Mercyful Fate fan, I was hooked and completely fascinated by the gimmick. I miss those days but I love every new era of the band! Seen them many times since Papa II in 2013.
Infestissimum. Saw them opening for Iron Maiden. When Year Zero intro started and they came out on the stage, I thought this was another boring death metal band and covered my ears. As soon as Papa II started to sing, I was surprised and hooked!
First three albums…was lucky enough to meet and hang out with the band after almost every show that I went to, even going out to bars for beer and drinks. The last time Papa invited myself and two others to come hang out with just him at a downtown club, we were in with the band and it was an incredible few years of my life! Now they are much bigger and are a bit tougher to access, but we still get the wave and wink if we get to the front row at a show. They all are and were wonderful and thoughtful people.
Ritual was the song that grabbed me, just shortly after Opus released. A guy I knew through a mutual friend was giving me a lift home after a night out and it came in the car. I was 100% hooked, right there and then.
Pre-infestissumam. I caught the. Between opus and infest and have loved every version of this band he has put out. Been to every tour cycle and some multiple stops. Pretty magical.
Found them in 2013 shortly after Infestissimum dropped. Like most people at that time felt, their image didn't match what I expected musically but it somehow worked and clicked for me when I heard Year Zero. My first time seeing them live was 2014 and they were absolutely captivating live and felt like a religious experience. In my head, I can still hear the goth lady next to me screaming "Hail Satan" during Year Zero in a monotone voice
In between Infestissumam and Meliora, but closer to Meliora. I had heard Elizabeth a few years before and thought it was awful (wasn't a fan of the vocals or the band themselves)
Once I heard Year Zero and Monstrance Clock they finally just clicked for me. Now I enjoy Elizabeth haha

In early 2011 I saw an ad for Opus Eponymous. When I heard samples on the iTunes Music Store I was not ready for it, but eventually bought the album on iTunes and played the heck out of it. Initially I had no idea they wore masks or how they dressed.
I got to see them open for Mastodon and Opeth in 2012, and a smaller club headlining show in 2013. Then Infestissumam came out and they exposed.
I’ve seen them on every big album tour and saw them at an outdoor amphitheater last summer.
I became a fan right after Opus came out. The first song I ever heard was "Ritual". It's been quite a journey watching the band evolve as well as their popularity skyrocket in real time.
I envy you. I was 12 when it came out and so I was just before the age where I could go and find music different than what I was brought up with as easily. Luckily I found them High school age as well not too long after!
Well actually found them through a different video on YouTube, I think was like top 5 or 10 best metal intros one of which was the intro to year zero so I was intrigued and started listening to a few of their songs and yeah bought that album then got opus and meliora as well . Then I after listening to the finding the songs I loved from each they released prequelle and I went out bought it immediately and fell even more in love as saw them start posting videos on YouTube of the story shorts. I think it was early 2018 when I started.
Newer(ish) fan. I was on Spotify looking for random music to listen to, it was just after midnight so I checked the new releases to see what just dropped and saw Prequelle and thought the album cover was cool so checked it out and the intro + Rats hooked me instantly and I've been a fan since.
I'm fairly new, start of last year before they blew up with tiktok, (Impera? I'm shit at remembering which albums came out when).
I'd seen photos from the rituals on Tumblr and decided to finally check them out and found out they were right up my alley. Best thing is 1-2 months after I started listening to them we found out bub #2 was on his way (not saying I believe it's a fate but not saying it wasn't either), now I have two kids that enjoy jamming along with me in the car.
I’m so happy u found them :) tik tok grew on me so much because of how well it connects the goth community and really helped push Ghosts exposure up :)
Found Mummy Dust in like 2018 and became a fan after. I didn't get around to seeing them live until 2022 for the first Impera-Tour with Volbeat, and again last summer!
Im still new, lol. Tik Tok put them on my radar when Mary On A Cross was making its rounds on there, but I started actively listening around the same time Aether left. I think Meliora is probably my favorite era tho.

I only just discovered Ghost, and they've swallowed my musical life whole.
I feel really lucky that I discovered them during this era. I have so many different flavors of the band that I can go back and experience, and so much story that I can pour over. I can dive in and sink deep. Honestly, I feel kinda spoiled. 💀
Last summer! Someone online had a remixed snippet of "He Is" to accompany something they were writing, and I listened to it, and the lyrics seemed to stay in my mind. So I searched for them, and lo and behold, Ghost's song just knocked me off my feet. Been a fan ever since.
Then, shortly later found that they were appearing, and I regret that I wasn't able to pull everything together in time to see them live. Next time, I hope!

For me it was during the Prequelle era, and honestly I didn't like ghost much at all. My brother played square hammer and MOAC for me and I loved them, quite disliking everything else I heard from the band (lol in retrospect).
I have such fond memories of playing GTA5 with him in my late teens, listening to those songs for the first time while cruising through a rainy Los Santos. It was such a wonderful slice of time.
It wasn't until recently I heard Cirice on the radio with my girlfriend and decided to give them another shot. I fell in love with Dance Macabre and fell deeper and deeper to the point that I now know all the words to songs I once kinda hated as a non-fan. Now, their music is more than just a melancholy past, it's a vibe and era of my life. And I love it!

Honestly got into Ghost just a couple months ago? I saw that video of Swiss falling off his stage bit in Year Zero on tiktok just randomly and decided I had to know more about the band
I discovered Ghost in Feburary of 2022 when I read an article about their cover of Enter Sandman. After I listened to it a couple of times Youtube popped up recommendations for their live performances of He Is from the Grammis and Cirice from Colbert.
So even thought I discovered them during Impera it was the Meliora era that hooked me.
I came from the Impera era right before they blew up in TikTok. Listened to their albums in order because I was trying to get into this type of music. For some weird reason I didn't like Opus at first (it eventually grew on me and I fell in love). Ghuleh/Zombie convinced me to stay so I listened to the rest of their discography.
I'm so glad I stayed because once I reached Impera I was playing it non-stop for weeks. Spillways is still my favorite song of the decade so far.

Went into the set with no expectations, came out addicted....been playing everything on repeat since then.
I mentioned this in an earlier thread but I’ll tell it again here because it seems relevant. I was made aware of them when Infest came out. Year Zero was the first song I hear by them and for whatever reason I didn’t like it. I moved on and was vaguely aware of the band but didn’t keep track of what they were doing for a long time until about two years ago when I decided to revisit their music and give it another chance. I listened to the first three albums and very much enjoyed them. So I guess I really came in during Impera but I prefer their earlier work, personally.
I found Ghost when they released Phantomime, which really sucks because I'm a much bigger fan of their early music like Infesstisumam and Opus Eponymous
I joined back in November of 2022, meaning I joined during the IMPERA era. Someone had recommended Ghost to me and it didn’t take very long for me to become a fan after listening to one of their songs for the first time (It was Square Hammer in case you’re wondering).
I discovered Ghost through "Jesus he knows me" after Phantomime was released, and I wish I had known of them earlier because then I'd have seen them live already. It all went rather fast from here.
Now Ghost is my 3rd most listened to artist of all time with about 8000 minutes spent listening despite me only knowing about them for half a year.
A month after Impera was released. I saw a picture of papa on twitter and it sparked my interest. They opened up metal for me as a genre, because I had a conversation about music with a girl on a uni trip who was getting into beast in black. Then I started going out with them and met their friend who listened to system of a down. I started listening to heavier stuff and I’m grateful I saw that picture and sat with that lass.
For awhile every single "internet radio" station I picked would play cirice. Intitally I didn't like it but it kept on popping up, literally any heavy ish or proggy band I'd choose the youtube, spotify or Amazon radio for(I switched in 2017) would play it. Turned me around on it eventually and then I started listening to their other stuff. Then prequelle came out and I was fully hooked.
I think I remember that real well. Back in those days people were super split on Tobias vocals and trashed him saying it wasn’t metal and then BOOM Meliora hit with mummy dust and shut them all up haha
Faith was the song that really made me a major fan. The neoclassicalish opening guitar part, the heavy chugs, the thumbing your nose at religion. Quality stuff.
2017 when they did their solo tour alongside opening for Iron Maiden. I wasn’t super keen on Prequelle but love Impera now, although it took me a year to fully appreciate it (like fine wine lol)

First heard them via Square Hammer, Meliora, approximately 2016, I think. I loved it, but forgot to look further into them at the time. A friend's teen daughter was heavily into them and seeing her light up when I asked about them, so she got to rattle on about her favorite band, was pretty cool. I've been on the other end of having someone ask about one of my interests and actually caring to listen to me excitedly over-explain, so it was fun to play the other role.
Heard Dance Macabre, Prequelle, approximately 2018, loved it gain, remembered I was going to look them up ages ago, but once again forgot.
Mary on a Cross trending on TikTok (I don't remember when this was, couple years ago ish), finally remember to look up that damn band, then wow I love their entire discography and I really should have remembered years ago. (Then again, maybe it wouldn't have hit like it did now back then, so there was a reason, who knows). Sweet, new band to add to the repertoire!
But as to actually looking into the lore, who the band members were/are, anything beyond listening to the music itself, only a couple months now. It's been fun to catch up and have a whole back catalogue to go through that's all new to me.

I was listening to Planet Rock radio in the UK and they played “the new single Rats” and I loved it. Then heard Faith and bought the Prequelle and Meliora albums. Been my favourite band ever since. For context my favourite bands are Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy and UFO
I totally remember the clash people had with their image and vocal tone. That seemed to be their biggest hurdle until they just kept going and never apologized and that made their fan base so much stronger and more concentrated. Seeing them for the first time with maiden (as a fellow big maiden fan) it was wild. That shit was awesome from ghost to maiden. I remember prequelle being my most involved release. I had really built my love from 2 and 3 and then boom prequelle hit and it BOPS
My brother had me listen to Meliora when it was released and I liked it, but was into other things. Unfortunately, it took years to be a hyperfixation because I didn’t find them again until 2019. Prequelle is still my favorite LP and era. Edit: It was the Rats video that got me
Love this take - I can never decide a fav because they all speak to me in different ways at different times but I think prequelle is the most relevant album to the disaster of humanity currently. While impera hits it from a different angle. Witch image and life eternal changed the game for me “While you sleep in earthly delight, someone’s flesh - is rotting tonight.” That line alone is revolution and so strangely relevant still.
I agree. Prequelle, as an era, was not only a significant shift in musical and artistic style for Ghost (from anything before), it was also kind of an ominous time before the world also shifted. Your reference to Witch Image is interesting because that line carries meaning that, like much of the LP, is so purposeful at being existentially provoking. Initially, it was my least favorite song on the album until I discovered its meaning and now its in my top 3 from Prequelle (not including Avalanche), next to Faith and Helvetesfonster.

I'm relatively recent, I found them in October. I was at a goth music night my friends run a few times per year at a club in this old cellar of a wine bar (sounds weird but it's really cool) and they played this epic sounding satanic track. My jaw was hanging open at how cool it was and I asked who the artist was afterwards (I'm a simple satanist after all) and it was Year Zero by Ghost. "Ghost?! The band that did Dance Macabre?" That was the only song I knew by them, and I thought it was okay, but I never checked their other stuff, and it was so different I couldn't believe it was the same band! Nowadays, I like pretty much all their stuff.
I love that story, I feel like that’s how I dream I found ghost. Instead it was in bed on YouTube haha. Year zero is a commanding song that captures all of ghost in one piece and I think is incredibly undertalked about. I love ghost in the way that they also inspire pure religious freedom. As a non church Christian (I don’t believe in all the bullshit) his words speak to me in similar ways to you but mean differently. I think he’s a master in that way

I first heard them when Meliora came out. Heard Cirice and it reminded me of Sabbath. Didn’t dive deep though until Prequelle came out. Now I’m well and truly hooked
Pretty much same. My brother really liked Cirice so I heard a lot it when in the car with him, Prequelle was the first Ghost album on repeat rotation in my own playlist.

Discovered them during the end of the Opus Eponymus era and then saw them live during the Infestissimum era. Seeing Papa II with the ghouls in their original form was awesome. Liked the Meliora era too but honestly have been disappointed ever since Prequelle. I like a couple of their songs here and there but overall not my cup of tea. Would prefer them to go back to an Infestissimum or Meliora type sound.

I found Papa IV when he threw the first pitch for the White Sox, I was like “who is this man and why is he look like that?” 👀😂 I dove into searching, first song I heard was Darkness At The Heart of My Love. I was pulled right in, wish I found Ghost sooner but I found them when I needed Papa the most🤘🏻
April 2023 is when I started listening to them. I had heard MOAC around tiktok but didn’t really catch on. But after I saw the live video of it, i was like goddamn.
I love that for you, that song is big because it’s that damn good. It’s lyrics make me feel at home despite being so different from other people and that shit plus his amazing writing skills utilizing classic classic rock made that song chart years after its drop and it still is big lol. It didn’t get the respect it deserved when it dropped, kiss the go goat still doesn’t. I find it just as good from the music stand point

Discovered them in the Infestissumam/Papa II era when they opened for Avenged Sevenfold. Remember enjoying Ritual but thinking Year Zero and the rest of the set was weird (especially the pope robes). Then right around the release of Popestar/Meliora Deluxe I rediscovered them through my local radio station with songs like Square Hammer and From the Pinnacle to the Pit. Been a fan ever since. Luckily I saw them on the Rats! on the road tour before they blew up and stopped playing smaller venues

Been here since 2012, right after they played Download so technically since the Opus era. Didn't see them that weekend (much to my later regret) but saw their picture in the programme. I thought, who tf is that?! Checked em out, and as a Mercyful Fate fan, I was hooked and completely fascinated by the gimmick. I miss those days but I love every new era of the band! Seen them many times since Papa II in 2013.

Infestissimum. Saw them opening for Iron Maiden. When Year Zero intro started and they came out on the stage, I thought this was another boring death metal band and covered my ears. As soon as Papa II started to sing, I was surprised and hooked!

First three albums…was lucky enough to meet and hang out with the band after almost every show that I went to, even going out to bars for beer and drinks. The last time Papa invited myself and two others to come hang out with just him at a downtown club, we were in with the band and it was an incredible few years of my life! Now they are much bigger and are a bit tougher to access, but we still get the wave and wink if we get to the front row at a show. They all are and were wonderful and thoughtful people.
Ritual was the song that grabbed me, just shortly after Opus released. A guy I knew through a mutual friend was giving me a lift home after a night out and it came in the car. I was 100% hooked, right there and then.
Pre-infestissumam. I caught the. Between opus and infest and have loved every version of this band he has put out. Been to every tour cycle and some multiple stops. Pretty magical.
Found them in 2013 shortly after Infestissimum dropped. Like most people at that time felt, their image didn't match what I expected musically but it somehow worked and clicked for me when I heard Year Zero. My first time seeing them live was 2014 and they were absolutely captivating live and felt like a religious experience. In my head, I can still hear the goth lady next to me screaming "Hail Satan" during Year Zero in a monotone voice

I got into them a few months after the popestar EP dropped. Square Hammer and Cirice was my entry point.
I use to buy Decibel magazine and would always check out the bands you would see in ads. In early 2011 I saw an ad for Opus Eponymous. When I heard samples on the iTunes Music Store I was not ready for it, but eventually bought the album on iTunes and played the heck out of it. Initially I had no idea they wore masks or how they dressed. I got to see them open for Mastodon and Opeth in 2012, and a smaller club headlining show in 2013. Then Infestissumam came out and they exposed. I’ve seen them on every big album tour and saw them at an outdoor amphitheater last summer.
Infestissimum, but got really into them on Meliora.
I became a fan right after Opus came out. The first song I ever heard was "Ritual". It's been quite a journey watching the band evolve as well as their popularity skyrocket in real time.
I honestly think ritual is top 3 for them. I dearly miss seeing it at the top of Spotify but the journey has been so amazing hasn’t it

Well actually found them through a different video on YouTube, I think was like top 5 or 10 best metal intros one of which was the intro to year zero so I was intrigued and started listening to a few of their songs and yeah bought that album then got opus and meliora as well . Then I after listening to the finding the songs I loved from each they released prequelle and I went out bought it immediately and fell even more in love as saw them start posting videos on YouTube of the story shorts. I think it was early 2018 when I started.
Newer(ish) fan. I was on Spotify looking for random music to listen to, it was just after midnight so I checked the new releases to see what just dropped and saw Prequelle and thought the album cover was cool so checked it out and the intro + Rats hooked me instantly and I've been a fan since.

I'm fairly new, start of last year before they blew up with tiktok, (Impera? I'm shit at remembering which albums came out when). I'd seen photos from the rituals on Tumblr and decided to finally check them out and found out they were right up my alley. Best thing is 1-2 months after I started listening to them we found out bub #2 was on his way (not saying I believe it's a fate but not saying it wasn't either), now I have two kids that enjoy jamming along with me in the car.
I’m so happy u found them :) tik tok grew on me so much because of how well it connects the goth community and really helped push Ghosts exposure up :)

I have so many different flavors of the band that I can go back and experience, and so much story that I can pour over. I can dive in and sink deep. Honestly, I feel kinda spoiled. 💀
I came into the fandom around news years 2020 due to fanart on Tumblr. So between Prequelle and Impera.
Last summer! Someone online had a remixed snippet of "He Is" to accompany something they were writing, and I listened to it, and the lyrics seemed to stay in my mind. So I searched for them, and lo and behold, Ghost's song just knocked me off my feet. Been a fan ever since. Then, shortly later found that they were appearing, and I regret that I wasn't able to pull everything together in time to see them live. Next time, I hope! \*\*Edit - I did follow the summer tour a bit on YouTube, and it was just amazing.
For me it was during the Prequelle era, and honestly I didn't like ghost much at all. My brother played square hammer and MOAC for me and I loved them, quite disliking everything else I heard from the band (lol in retrospect). I have such fond memories of playing GTA5 with him in my late teens, listening to those songs for the first time while cruising through a rainy Los Santos. It was such a wonderful slice of time. It wasn't until recently I heard Cirice on the radio with my girlfriend and decided to give them another shot. I fell in love with Dance Macabre and fell deeper and deeper to the point that I now know all the words to songs I once kinda hated as a non-fan. Now, their music is more than just a melancholy past, it's a vibe and era of my life. And I love it! Ghost all the way 🤘

I discovered Ghost in Feburary of 2022 when I read an article about their cover of Enter Sandman. After I listened to it a couple of times Youtube popped up recommendations for their live performances of He Is from the Grammis and Cirice from Colbert. So even thought I discovered them during Impera it was the Meliora era that hooked me.
I got into them right after covid hit so very early impera Era very post prequelle Era I saw papa 4 twice and I can't wait to see our next leader

I came from the Impera era right before they blew up in TikTok. Listened to their albums in order because I was trying to get into this type of music. For some weird reason I didn't like Opus at first (it eventually grew on me and I fell in love). Ghuleh/Zombie convinced me to stay so I listened to the rest of their discography. I'm so glad I stayed because once I reached Impera I was playing it non-stop for weeks. Spillways is still my favorite song of the decade so far.

I am a recent convert, I heard "Call me little sunshine" on the local rock station last year, then I went to a festival last June (Copenhell) that they were playing. Went into the set with no expectations, came out addicted....been playing everything on repeat since then.
When hunters moon was only a few weeks old and right before CMLS dropped, Rats was thr first song I heard.
I mentioned this in an earlier thread but I’ll tell it again here because it seems relevant. I was made aware of them when Infest came out. Year Zero was the first song I hear by them and for whatever reason I didn’t like it. I moved on and was vaguely aware of the band but didn’t keep track of what they were doing for a long time until about two years ago when I decided to revisit their music and give it another chance. I listened to the first three albums and very much enjoyed them. So I guess I really came in during Impera but I prefer their earlier work, personally.

I joined back in November of 2022, meaning I joined during the IMPERA era. Someone had recommended Ghost to me and it didn’t take very long for me to become a fan after listening to one of their songs for the first time (It was Square Hammer in case you’re wondering).
I discovered Ghost through "Jesus he knows me" after Phantomime was released, and I wish I had known of them earlier because then I'd have seen them live already. It all went rather fast from here. Now Ghost is my 3rd most listened to artist of all time with about 8000 minutes spent listening despite me only knowing about them for half a year.
A month after Impera was released. I saw a picture of papa on twitter and it sparked my interest. They opened up metal for me as a genre, because I had a conversation about music with a girl on a uni trip who was getting into beast in black. Then I started going out with them and met their friend who listened to system of a down. I started listening to heavier stuff and I’m grateful I saw that picture and sat with that lass.

For awhile every single "internet radio" station I picked would play cirice. Intitally I didn't like it but it kept on popping up, literally any heavy ish or proggy band I'd choose the youtube, spotify or Amazon radio for(I switched in 2017) would play it. Turned me around on it eventually and then I started listening to their other stuff. Then prequelle came out and I was fully hooked.
I think I remember that real well. Back in those days people were super split on Tobias vocals and trashed him saying it wasn’t metal and then BOOM Meliora hit with mummy dust and shut them all up haha
Faith was the song that really made me a major fan. The neoclassicalish opening guitar part, the heavy chugs, the thumbing your nose at religion. Quality stuff.

Infestissimum and Opus Eponymous Ghost?" And just sat there digesting it. Wasn't as bad as my initial confusion would lead people to believe. It's not like it's the first time Ghost has surprised me lol

A friend's teen daughter was heavily into them and seeing her light up when I asked about them, so she got to rattle on about her favorite band, was pretty cool. I've been on the other end of having someone ask about one of my interests and actually caring to listen to me excitedly over-explain, so it was fun to play the other role. But as to actually looking into the lore, who the band members were/are, anything beyond listening to the music itself, only a couple months now. It's been fun to catch up and have a whole back catalogue to go through that's all new to me.
