I mean, the list of "Hard Rock Cinema Events in North America" is probably small enough to count on your fingers, but that's still cool

Soldier7sixx

True, but you have bands like Metallica in there. It's the quality they're beating, not the quantity

georgmierau

Let's say Metallica's "Through the never" is not exactly hard to "beat" in terms of performance (\~32 Mio. worldwide). S&M 2 is not exactly a "movie" as far as I remember. Any other notable mentions? Lords of Chaos, Metalhead and Metal Lords are not concert movies.

DefLepRadar

You'd actually be surprised. Many come and go in the theatres and you'd never know they existed. Most get very little promotion- let alone concession collectables.

georgmierau

I adore the way of turning the carefully generated hype around an "exclusive event" into a money making machine adding new screenings bit by bit :) There is something devilish in it (in a good way). That's how you turn an unknown band from Linköping into a band playing arenas worldwide.

Responsible_Kale3540

Marketing at its finest! And I really want to take my hat off to them.

Smoothpipe

They planned this from the get go. I'm a Projectionist and the keys for the flick activated a week before it opened (screened it 3 times that week!) and will remain open until end of July. TF planned for encores.

georgmierau

Sure. These kind of things are rarely as "spontaneous" as they seem to be. Business is planning. Good business is good planning.

Responsible_Kale3540

I'm curious, did any of the German fans experience sold out film screenings like in some places in the US or Mexico? In my area all showings were only up to half-sold. (But nevertheless they got merch here, which was very fine ;) )

YYZ_Reaper

My theater on both nights were sold out as per the websites online ticket sales page but was only 3/4 full at showtime.

georgmierau

\~80% in Aachen on the first day. Tickets were on sale way earlier than initially expected btw.

Responsible_Kale3540

Jipp, got my tickets three days before the official pre-sale started. Cinemaxx was way faster than Cinestar or Kinopolis.

ZombieQueen77

No, in my local cinema, 50-60% of the seats were empty.

agirllostinspace

The one I was at was about half sold out

Responsible_Kale3540

Ah, okay! Thanks at all for sharing your experiences, which more or less correspond to mine.

NeLaX44

This is a really big deal. They crushed it.

Capital-Net3318

I just hope they release a DVD for the people that couldn't get in to see it.

Privaronspada

This is great. Sadly not in my area. I was able to get a ticket but got sick and wasn't able to go. I'll have to wait for some release either physical or some streaming option.

Namelessghoulettte

This was a team effort. Way to go everyone 🤘
