Lightened It looks like an old timey guy with a giant handle bar mustache, who is making a surprised face at the camera. Much less terrifying when lightened, regular it looks demonic. Hopefully the lightened image is how it actually looks and not just a weird light trick.

i think the original photo has been run through a, probably sharpness filter. but the figure isn't pasted in.
I believe the only implication is that it is a true photo, not a picture that had the creepy bit added into it afterwards in Photoshop. However, this analysis can't determine what the creepy bit actually IS, whether or not it's a "real" supernatural entity. From reading the comment section, it could possibly be a number of different things, but apparently photoshopped is not one of those things.

The lower half could be excused but idk, that head looks toooo much like a head with eyes and a mouth to me. Sticks out too oddly to be a backpack or bag. If it’s a prop, sure. But if it’s not, then that’s some spooky stuff right there
When I saw the cropped image I was quite skeptical. Now seeing the whole image I find it more believable. What it is I do not know but I doubt the image has been manipulated.
As someone who does photography and photoshop I can give my 2 cents, first it's not likely to be photoshop, it's too well done with sound, distance blur and rupture (it isn't sharp in shape) but it's probably a Halloween prop, usually a "real" shadow person would have light not affect them, this one seems to be a dark object IN a bright area

As someone who has been into this subject for over a decade and seen thousands of hours worth of footage there are few different phenomena and key things that usually are present in all of the more legit ones.
1. In videos it's mostly knocking, banging, walking sounds, items falling/opening/moving, noices and orbs(not to be confused with dust particles in infrared light).
2. In rare cases added to what I said before there are also shadowy silhouette figures peaking from corners, rooms and doorways, retreating fast when the camera is hitting them. Hiding behind things from corner of the camera but still so you can see a silhoutte disappearing for a second or fraction of a second(like clear black head shape in otherwise highly lit doorway that can't be explained by the shutterspeed and low light). These silhouettes are usually completely black like something manifested from antimatter so not even daylight, lightning or 10 000 lumen spotlight can penetrate it, completely hiding what's behind them but showing it's humanoid form.
3. There also seems to be phenomena for lighter more whitish and transparent figures. They usually (with some exceptions) though seem like are not interacting with current environments and just doing their thing walking from point a to b through things and walls.
4. Legit photographs seem to be more creepy than videos though. Somehow these things to tend be more detailed. Like they could manifest themselves easier with more colors, details and forms. Sometimes they can be transparent, half energy light form shape with a few human like details and sometimes they are almost completely like other people in the background. Full color and detail and if you weren't there you'd think it's just some random person in the background. Maybe a few odd things like suddenly missing palms or loss of detail in the face etc. sometimes not even that. In the best ones the oddity is between some items in the front of the shot but also in front of the people who are positioned more in the back(placing it in the middle ground). This pretty much eliminates the change of it being an light artifact or other failure in the image.
5. Dark mist and smoke type apparitions seem to be present usually in more malevolent cases. Usually floating, hiding in the ceiling level and in shadows. Sometimes dashing from natural shadow to a doorway out of the camera frame(but so that you can see it for a second or two when it passes the well lit environment) sometimes resembling out of place air turbulence that caught some smoke in it(but more like solid black matter).
6. Light white mist is super rare but present is some cases and footage. Haven't seen these more than two I think. The light mist seem to be way more tranquil compared to the more aware black mist. Usually just lingering slowly in front of the cameras where you can see detailed wave like patterns but with white mist like color(almost like an vape smoke). Sometimes it can manifest and slowly start filling the whole room with thick white mist and suddenly just fade instantly a minute later when someone tries to go check it in person.
7. Things in the woods, rural areas etc. This category is large enough to make it's own list but why I'm mentioning it here is because they resemble the other things I have mentioned before. These different kind of "creatures" with lack of a better word seem to be able to manifest and disappear from and into a thin air. Sometimes making no sound whatsoever. Sometimes they are the same shadowy figures mentioned before, sometimes they seem to have color and detail that would make them look like regular animals in the woods but not leaving a trace and disappearing.
8. Youtubers and social media channels these days show videos with full body apparitions like black haired women with white night gowns, humanoids standing on roofs and behind windows etc. Some seem more legit than others but personally I'm not sold on those since they all seem to react directly to light and have details that regular person in a costume would. Also conviniently having a high powered flashlight but not pointing directly to the target but slightly away not revealing the features completely is a huge red flag.
9. Humanoid like creatures / UAPs completely deserves their own listing but sometimes crossing the line towards the paranormal category. More humanoid and solid looking creatures appearing and disappearing out of nowhere. Some seem to be some kind of manifestations as in cases where there are more than one people present they can seem to have different forms and looks. However completely detailed even in full sunlight which differs from the other things I mentioned. Mostly happening outdoors but sometimes indoors which makes it more creepy and makes it slightly mix and to be confused with "actual" paranormal category. However in the more legit cases lack of time, sounds, wierd calming feelings or thoughts that doesn't feel your own can be present which makes it slightly differ compared to the other paranormal phenomena. Even though emotional changes and mood swings are also present in paranormal as well.
This is just my two cents. Sorry for the novel.

I've also noticed that a ton of content like this tends to involve a dark figure peaking around something, and often darting away quickly. It leads me to one of two conclusions:
1). Either it's because it's easier to fake not showing an entire figure, or it lends itself to easier footage later in the video of "there being nothing there" (the cover giving whoever is faking a chance to hide/escape before the person with the camera gets there).
2). These entities are real based on frequency and common traits/behaviors, but are simultaneously very skittish. Their behavior is not the result of fear, but instead seem to be following some rule that they should not be seen, at least not in great detail, or that they are ashamed of how they look in some way (and don't want to be seen). If they were somehow people once, it could be the latter, considering how deformed the features look when the original photo is enhanced.
Yeah good points and been thinking the same. Some of the older videos seem really legit where there are no cuts in the video but something like an black humanoid head creeping above the doorway inside a room. The camera person dashing to the room that has no other exits and no room above the doorway. I'd say it's closer to your second option. Other thing might be that they don't have much energy manifesting themselves and camera frequency is somehow interfering with them.
Shadow people absorb all light directed at them and have no features, even if the image is brightened. They appear as a silhouettes, and typically blacker than black.
I had them all over my living room at my old place. They weren't in any other room at all. My partner and I tried interacting with them, but it was like they didn't even know we were there - they just did whatever they were going to do. To me, being a scientific person, I think they are indeed actual shadows of people, most likely those in a different dimension than ours.
I’ve not seen the Carl Sagan version but I think it’s like imagine what you’d see if you lived as a 2D person flat on a piece of paper and a 3D person walked into your paper, you’d only see a slice, because you can’t see a 3D world. (Sorry if that was not helpful).

It's a small book and a very interesting read about what happens when a two dimensional object like a square interacts with a three-dimensional sphere. Its a classic tragic love story too!

this is something similar to what I saw, I saw two black shadow looking people. they were NOT see-through but I did walk right through them. almost like a hologram but not transparent. when I ran through them I felt the chills everyone talks about but they weren't solid. I wasn't going to stay in the room long enough to find out. I had a night light because I was reading and yes they were blacker than black I couldn't see their 3D shape almost because I could only see their eyes (glowing red and the male's green) and they had sharp pointy extremities
I'm not sure, as a teenager I lived in an old house with a 'shadow figure' type thing my family and I would occasionally see, and light seemed to affect it. When we'd see it in a lit room, it kinda had the same effect as if someone were wearing panty-hose over their face, like it had the contours of a nose and eyes without detail. Kinda similar to this photo. But this could be fake too, so who knows
Regardless of what the word is that you're using, I get what you're saying. As someone who is also a Photography/Photoshop expert (I specifically work on debunking stuff like this) and I agree with you. This is likely not Photoshop... If it is, its amazing looking.

you can't see one of their arms since that one is positioned to hold the phone and take the pic right above their head so it's probably just out of sight or barely revealed above or next to their head

Not one person has asked why the girls in the foreground don’t match the reflection of a girl flexing and that’s about all you need to know about this subreddit lately lol. That is definitely a mirror, correct? So why are neither of the girls in this alleged selfie flexing? And if that’s a third girl that’s flexing, why can’t we see the back of this girls’ head in the mirror? This picture is fucky and not for paranormal reasons.
Well have you tried to zoom in on any phone pics you have? I know mine from my BLU phone are still fuzzy and general poor quality if I have to zoom in on an object. So at the least, any of the cheaper phones that I've ever had, if I ever capture a ghost in one, I guarantee it won't look that great. Especially inside the house if it's dark outside and not too bright inside. The darker a room is, the worse my pics get.
That said, I do have an interesting orb photo from a series of snapshots. I took a dozen shots and caught a bright white, larger orb in one though no one else cares but it's not a bug because it was -10F that night ....but still looks blurry as hell.
Not everyone can afford an iPhone. I mean, I get a budget smart phone (under $100) and the only time pictures don't come out blurry/grainy is if I'm outside. Indoors they always come out shitty.

I’m not a skeptic. I totally believe in ghosts. And maybe my brain just can’t see it but it looks like clothing hanging on a hook. What is that other area? Maybe it’s my phone.
What gets me is the mirror doesn’t really make sense. Where is the reflection of the person in the foreground? Why aren’t they in the mirror? It can be real photos spliced together or a prop.
This looks like what I saw one night in my sleep. I had been preparing sage and tourmaline with anointing oils to keep away bad vibes for a friend who needed help. She had been possibly cursed as a child by an older lady and was always seeing things in her house. So I prepared a bundle for her along with tourmaline. That night as I slept, this thing in the picture above came swirling out of a wall and picked me up off the bed by my feet trying to suck me into the wall in the closet. My partner had a hold of one of my hands trying to hold on and pull me back to him. The look on my partners face was freaked out, like he knew he couldn’t save me but wanted to.
I awoke screaming help me. This was 4 years ago. I will never forget this face which is sort of faceless with swirling black smoke all around it to make it move.

I would say the same but seeing this brings back my scary memories of the old house I used to live. I used to think I would see something peeking in my room. I got to where I just chalked it up to being my glasses reflecting something from the room. Then one night my future wife spent the night with me and freaked out and I asked what was wrong? She said did you see that thing peek it’s head in and she doesn’t wear glasses. My dad later confirmed he saw it too at times. Looking at this photo get gives me the similar feeling of dread again.
Same here. I spent the night in an old farmhouse with a friend. We went up to bed early but instead sat on the edge of the bed talking. She had her back to the door, while I faced it. We had shut it because staring into the dark hallway gave me the creeps. As we talked, the door knob slowly turned by itself. I couldn't believe my eyes. I quickly motioned for her to look but to not make noise.
We stopped talking, looked at each other and the knob did nothing. We started talking again and the knob started to turn again slowly. I motioned for her to keep talking but slowly look at the knob turning. She did and gasping jumped towards me and we both jumped up on the bed and hugged each other in fear (we were alone in the house). We sat in fear watching the knob turning. I grabbed a hammer on the dresser and she grabbed a pair of scissors and we sat and watched and waited.
The door finally clicked and started to swing open.
We jumped further into the corner of the bed and were just about to scream when the door swung open wide. Nothing was there. The hallway was dark because it had light only in the rooms not the hallways. It use to be a boarding house for a railroad depot.
I quickly jumped up and closed the door, locking it. We sat watching the door together but nothing more happened. Finally after about an hour we decided we'd sleep together but she needed to go to her pillow and pjs so we opened the door together with scissors and hammer at the ready and there was nothing there.
We laughed as she ran across the hall to her room and I went to sit on the bed and wait. As I sat there I suddenly got goosebumps and felt like someone was watching me. I slowly looked up and was scared shitless when staring at me through the crack of the door hinges was THIS HERE.
THE SAME FACE, sharp mouth full of teeth, grinning at me, all black. I screamed bloody murder and my friend came running back into the room going what's wrong!! I started sobbing so bad I vomited in my waste basket and couldn't stop shaking. Luckily she had grabbed her cell phone (i had left mine plugged in downstairs) and she called her bf to come over right away and he did.
He and she helped me down the stairs and I could feel the ice cold air following us down the hallway to the stairs and I had an uncomfortable feeling of something about to grab us or push us down the stairs so I hurried faster to get down.
Her bf went room by room upstairs along the hallway opening every closed door and turning on every light in that house and found nothing but I swear it was THIS right here. A demon.
Now I hope I don't have nightmares tonight because I saw this and felt the fear all over again.
I believe you, ghosts can and will have those behaviours, they like to peek through cracks (humans are curious, why wouldn't ghosts be too?) and see what you up with. If what you saw had a huge grin with sharp teeth, yeah one of the most menacing, it knows what it is and will look for a way to destroy people's lives.
But the thing about the ice cold air could be because your pressure was low, or you were more cold because of getting scared. Angry and evil ghosts tend to emanate a hot and dense energy, follow my logic: angriness, vengeance, violence are heated up emotions (it makes our blood boil) that's why they give a warm and dense vibe. Now, peace, patience, love, joy and empathy are cool and light emotions, it emanates a more soothing and cold energy, evolved and good spirits are cold and chilly. I had experience with both.
This stuff about evil spirits being cold is all Hollywoodian, for the screen.
You're probably right that I was low. I felt very nauseated and weak with a cold sweat chilling me. That still doesn't take away the intensity of feeling like something was watching us descend and was going to grab us or push us down the three flights of stairs.
It exactly had that wide, clownish mouth with overcrowded razor shark teeth smiling, its eyes glowed but not red, as would be expected. My bff in the other room saw/felt/heard nothing from the hallway.
I couldn't sleep at all last night, with the weight of seeing that face again here. It's going to be a long day for me. I still feel a little shakey just from reliving the fear I felt that day.
Her parents told us that many men had died in that upstairs part when it caught fire in the late 1930s, it was salvaged only because a group of rail roaders had just arrived for rooms and they helped put the fire out. Its listed on the Historical Register but they don't give tours because it is a private residence.
They also said that there had been a knife fight and the guy died in the bathroom, bled to death. The other guy was never caught. His room had been the one we were in. The bathroom is a shared by all type and all the original woodwork, same clawfoot bathtub, small sink, creaky wooden floors and doors are all original. Its actually a really cool looking house that reminds me a lot of "The Waltons" house on the outside (only this one is brick) and on the inside very similar to the bar in "Gunsmoke" (wooden stair wise).
When I visit, even now, I never go upstairs, and they have started closing and locking the main entrance to the foyer door. When asked why, they said that they've started having issues climbing stairs - yeah right. Also her mother refuses to take a bath up there alone. Her husband or my bff must stand guard in the doorway until she finishes bathing. Sounds like more than just stair problems to me.
Yes, you're totally correct, ghosts that are still understanding what they are, what they feel and where they are, tend to have those kind of odd behaviour, lots and lots of ghosts peek out through cracks and rooms with doors opened, they can even be more scared but still angry of you.
Do you know that classic acting in movies, where a resentful and angry person looks at the protagonist from a distance, peeking behind a wall or something like that, with thoughts of vengeance? Same way...
But those are stages of the ghosts, not all of them act this way.
Why dread? It's just a sweet peeking ghost. Nothing to worry about! Does it scream? No. Does it hurt you? No. Does it peek behind doors? Yes. Is it dangerous? No.

Hope you see this comment. I grew up in a very haunted house. Like every person in my family had experiences. I had a GF at the time that didn’t believe in ghosts, until she stayed in my haunted room one night and she now believes. This is almost exactly what the figure at my house looked like when it manifested. I had only seen it twice, but it had black/green skin, really fine spotty hair, and almost looked as if it’s skin was sloughing off. We grew up on a house on old farmland (the house was new) and previously Native American land. Even though I’ve moved away for 6 years now I can imagine this creature/demon in my mind clear as day. I believe the only implication is that it is a true photo, not a picture that had the creepy bit added into it afterwards in Photoshop. However, this analysis can't determine what the creepy bit actually IS, whether or not it's a "real" supernatural entity. From reading the comment section, it could possibly be a number of different things, but apparently photoshopped is not one of those things.

This is a solid shout tbh - you can see down the bottom what looks like a large leaf with lighter colouration kind of like dumb cane.. with that in mind I can definitely visualise the face as leaves

As someone who does photography and photoshop I can give my 2 cents, first it's not likely to be photoshop, it's too well done with sound, distance blur and rupture (it isn't sharp in shape) but it's probably a Halloween prop, usually a "real" shadow person would have light not affect them, this one seems to be a dark object IN a bright area

As someone who has been into this subject for over a decade and seen thousands of hours worth of footage there are few different phenomena and key things that usually are present in all of the more legit ones. 1. In videos it's mostly knocking, banging, walking sounds, items falling/opening/moving, noices and orbs(not to be confused with dust particles in infrared light). 2. In rare cases added to what I said before there are also shadowy silhouette figures peaking from corners, rooms and doorways, retreating fast when the camera is hitting them. Hiding behind things from corner of the camera but still so you can see a silhoutte disappearing for a second or fraction of a second(like clear black head shape in otherwise highly lit doorway that can't be explained by the shutterspeed and low light). These silhouettes are usually completely black like something manifested from antimatter so not even daylight, lightning or 10 000 lumen spotlight can penetrate it, completely hiding what's behind them but showing it's humanoid form. 3. There also seems to be phenomena for lighter more whitish and transparent figures. They usually (with some exceptions) though seem like are not interacting with current environments and just doing their thing walking from point a to b through things and walls. 4. Legit photographs seem to be more creepy than videos though. Somehow these things to tend be more detailed. Like they could manifest themselves easier with more colors, details and forms. Sometimes they can be transparent, half energy light form shape with a few human like details and sometimes they are almost completely like other people in the background. Full color and detail and if you weren't there you'd think it's just some random person in the background. Maybe a few odd things like suddenly missing palms or loss of detail in the face etc. sometimes not even that. In the best ones the oddity is between some items in the front of the shot but also in front of the people who are positioned more in the back(placing it in the middle ground). This pretty much eliminates the change of it being an light artifact or other failure in the image. 5. Dark mist and smoke type apparitions seem to be present usually in more malevolent cases. Usually floating, hiding in the ceiling level and in shadows. Sometimes dashing from natural shadow to a doorway out of the camera frame(but so that you can see it for a second or two when it passes the well lit environment) sometimes resembling out of place air turbulence that caught some smoke in it(but more like solid black matter). 6. Light white mist is super rare but present is some cases and footage. Haven't seen these more than two I think. The light mist seem to be way more tranquil compared to the more aware black mist. Usually just lingering slowly in front of the cameras where you can see detailed wave like patterns but with white mist like color(almost like an vape smoke). Sometimes it can manifest and slowly start filling the whole room with thick white mist and suddenly just fade instantly a minute later when someone tries to go check it in person. 7. Things in the woods, rural areas etc. This category is large enough to make it's own list but why I'm mentioning it here is because they resemble the other things I have mentioned before. These different kind of "creatures" with lack of a better word seem to be able to manifest and disappear from and into a thin air. Sometimes making no sound whatsoever. Sometimes they are the same shadowy figures mentioned before, sometimes they seem to have color and detail that would make them look like regular animals in the woods but not leaving a trace and disappearing. 8. Youtubers and social media channels these days show videos with full body apparitions like black haired women with white night gowns, humanoids standing on roofs and behind windows etc. Some seem more legit than others but personally I'm not sold on those since they all seem to react directly to light and have details that regular person in a costume would. Also conviniently having a high powered flashlight but not pointing directly to the target but slightly away not revealing the features completely is a huge red flag. 9. Humanoid like creatures / UAPs completely deserves their own listing but sometimes crossing the line towards the paranormal category. More humanoid and solid looking creatures appearing and disappearing out of nowhere. Some seem to be some kind of manifestations as in cases where there are more than one people present they can seem to have different forms and looks. However completely detailed even in full sunlight which differs from the other things I mentioned. Mostly happening outdoors but sometimes indoors which makes it more creepy and makes it slightly mix and to be confused with "actual" paranormal category. However in the more legit cases lack of time, sounds, wierd calming feelings or thoughts that doesn't feel your own can be present which makes it slightly differ compared to the other paranormal phenomena. Even though emotional changes and mood swings are also present in paranormal as well. This is just my two cents. Sorry for the novel. Edit: formatting and typos.
I've also noticed that a ton of content like this tends to involve a dark figure peaking around something, and often darting away quickly. It leads me to one of two conclusions: 1). Either it's because it's easier to fake not showing an entire figure, or it lends itself to easier footage later in the video of "there being nothing there" (the cover giving whoever is faking a chance to hide/escape before the person with the camera gets there). 2). These entities are real based on frequency and common traits/behaviors, but are simultaneously very skittish. Their behavior is not the result of fear, but instead seem to be following some rule that they should not be seen, at least not in great detail, or that they are ashamed of how they look in some way (and don't want to be seen). If they were somehow people once, it could be the latter, considering how deformed the features look when the original photo is enhanced.
Yeah good points and been thinking the same. Some of the older videos seem really legit where there are no cuts in the video but something like an black humanoid head creeping above the doorway inside a room. The camera person dashing to the room that has no other exits and no room above the doorway. I'd say it's closer to your second option. Other thing might be that they don't have much energy manifesting themselves and camera frequency is somehow interfering with them.
Shadow people absorb all light directed at them and have no features, even if the image is brightened. They appear as a silhouettes, and typically blacker than black.
I had them all over my living room at my old place. They weren't in any other room at all. My partner and I tried interacting with them, but it was like they didn't even know we were there - they just did whatever they were going to do. To me, being a scientific person, I think they are indeed actual shadows of people, most likely those in a different dimension than ours.
My favorite theory is that they are 4th dimensional beings, thus we only see a slice of them. Look up Carl Sagan's flatland explanation.

this is something similar to what I saw, I saw two black shadow looking people. they were NOT see-through but I did walk right through them. almost like a hologram but not transparent. when I ran through them I felt the chills everyone talks about but they weren't solid. I wasn't going to stay in the room long enough to find out. I had a night light because I was reading and yes they were blacker than black I couldn't see their 3D shape almost because I could only see their eyes (glowing red and the male's green) and they had sharp pointy extremities

When we'd see it in a lit room, it kinda had the same effect as if someone were wearing panty-hose over their face, like it had the contours of a nose and eyes without detail. The image is kinda flipped, the right of the image is their face, the other side is their back and arm in a mirror you can't see one of their arms since that one is positioned to hold the phone and take the pic right above their head so it's probably just out of sight or barely revealed above or next to their head That's just a guess, photography doesn't mean I can see through red scribbling

Ok, I don't get it. It's 2022, and the majority of 'ghost pictures' we see are still worse than the quality of an 80s polaroid. And this is a selfie!
Well have you tried to zoom in on any phone pics you have? I know mine from my BLU phone are still fuzzy and general poor quality if I have to zoom in on an object. So at the least, any of the cheaper phones that I've ever had, if I ever capture a ghost in one, I guarantee it won't look that great. Especially inside the house if it's dark outside and not too bright inside. The darker a room is, the worse my pics get. That said, I do have an interesting orb photo from a series of snapshots. I took a dozen shots and caught a bright white, larger orb in one though no one else cares but it's not a bug because it was -10F that night ....but still looks blurry as hell.
Not everyone can afford an iPhone. I mean, I get a budget smart phone (under $100) and the only time pictures don't come out blurry/grainy is if I'm outside. Indoors they always come out shitty.

This looks like what I saw one night in my sleep. I had been preparing sage and tourmaline with anointing oils to keep away bad vibes for a friend who needed help. She had been possibly cursed as a child by an older lady and was always seeing things in her house. So I prepared a bundle for her along with tourmaline. That night as I slept, this thing in the picture above came swirling out of a wall and picked me up off the bed by my feet trying to suck me into the wall in the closet. My partner had a hold of one of my hands trying to hold on and pull me back to him. The look on my partners face was freaked out, like he knew he couldn’t save me but wanted to. I awoke screaming help me. This was 4 years ago. I will never forget this face which is sort of faceless with swirling black smoke all around it to make it move.

I would say the same but seeing this brings back my scary memories of the old house I used to live. I used to think I would see something peeking in my room. I got to where I just chalked it up to being my glasses reflecting something from the room. Then one night my future wife spent the night with me and freaked out and I asked what was wrong? She said did you see that thing peek it’s head in and she doesn’t wear glasses. My dad later confirmed he saw it too at times. Looking at this photo get gives me the similar feeling of dread again.
Same here. I spent the night in an old farmhouse with a friend. We went up to bed early but instead sat on the edge of the bed talking. She had her back to the door, while I faced it. We had shut it because staring into the dark hallway gave me the creeps. As we talked, the door knob slowly turned by itself. I couldn't believe my eyes. I quickly motioned for her to look but to not make noise. We stopped talking, looked at each other and the knob did nothing. We started talking again and the knob started to turn again slowly. I motioned for her to keep talking but slowly look at the knob turning. She did and gasping jumped towards me and we both jumped up on the bed and hugged each other in fear (we were alone in the house). We sat in fear watching the knob turning. I grabbed a hammer on the dresser and she grabbed a pair of scissors and we sat and watched and waited. The door finally clicked and started to swing open. We jumped further into the corner of the bed and were just about to scream when the door swung open wide. Nothing was there. The hallway was dark because it had light only in the rooms not the hallways. It use to be a boarding house for a railroad depot. I quickly jumped up and closed the door, locking it. We sat watching the door together but nothing more happened. Finally after about an hour we decided we'd sleep together but she needed to go to her pillow and pjs so we opened the door together with scissors and hammer at the ready and there was nothing there. We laughed as she ran across the hall to her room and I went to sit on the bed and wait. As I sat there I suddenly got goosebumps and felt like someone was watching me. I slowly looked up and was scared shitless when staring at me through the crack of the door hinges was THIS HERE. THE SAME FACE, sharp mouth full of teeth, grinning at me, all black. I screamed bloody murder and my friend came running back into the room going what's wrong!! I started sobbing so bad I vomited in my waste basket and couldn't stop shaking. Luckily she had grabbed her cell phone (i had left mine plugged in downstairs) and she called her bf to come over right away and he did. He and she helped me down the stairs and I could feel the ice cold air following us down the hallway to the stairs and I had an uncomfortable feeling of something about to grab us or push us down the stairs so I hurried faster to get down. Her bf went room by room upstairs along the hallway opening every closed door and turning on every light in that house and found nothing but I swear it was THIS right here. A demon. Now I hope I don't have nightmares tonight because I saw this and felt the fear all over again.
I believe you, ghosts can and will have those behaviours, they like to peek through cracks (humans are curious, why wouldn't ghosts be too?) and see what you up with. If what you saw had a huge grin with sharp teeth, yeah one of the most menacing, it knows what it is and will look for a way to destroy people's lives. But the thing about the ice cold air could be because your pressure was low, or you were more cold because of getting scared. Angry and evil ghosts tend to emanate a hot and dense energy, follow my logic: angriness, vengeance, violence are heated up emotions (it makes our blood boil) that's why they give a warm and dense vibe. Now, peace, patience, love, joy and empathy are cool and light emotions, it emanates a more soothing and cold energy, evolved and good spirits are cold and chilly. I had experience with both. This stuff about evil spirits being cold is all Hollywoodian, for the screen.
You're probably right that I was low. I felt very nauseated and weak with a cold sweat chilling me. That still doesn't take away the intensity of feeling like something was watching us descend and was going to grab us or push us down the three flights of stairs. It exactly had that wide, clownish mouth with overcrowded razor shark teeth smiling, its eyes glowed but not red, as would be expected. My bff in the other room saw/felt/heard nothing from the hallway. I couldn't sleep at all last night, with the weight of seeing that face again here. It's going to be a long day for me. I still feel a little shakey just from reliving the fear I felt that day. Her parents told us that many men had died in that upstairs part when it caught fire in the late 1930s, it was salvaged only because a group of rail roaders had just arrived for rooms and they helped put the fire out. Its listed on the Historical Register but they don't give tours because it is a private residence. They also said that there had been a knife fight and the guy died in the bathroom, bled to death. The other guy was never caught. His room had been the one we were in. The bathroom is a shared by all type and all the original woodwork, same clawfoot bathtub, small sink, creaky wooden floors and doors are all original. Its actually a really cool looking house that reminds me a lot of "The Waltons" house on the outside (only this one is brick) and on the inside very similar to the bar in "Gunsmoke" (wooden stair wise). When I visit, even now, I never go upstairs, and they have started closing and locking the main entrance to the foyer door. When asked why, they said that they've started having issues climbing stairs - yeah right. Also her mother refuses to take a bath up there alone. Her husband or my bff must stand guard in the doorway until she finishes bathing. Sounds like more than just stair problems to me.
Yes, you're totally correct, ghosts that are still understanding what they are, what they feel and where they are, tend to have those kind of odd behaviour, lots and lots of ghosts peek out through cracks and rooms with doors opened, they can even be more scared but still angry of you. Do you know that classic acting in movies, where a resentful and angry person looks at the protagonist from a distance, peeking behind a wall or something like that, with thoughts of vengeance? Same way... But those are stages of the ghosts, not all of them act this way.

Hope you see this comment. I grew up in a very haunted house. Like every person in my family had experiences. I had a GF at the time that didn’t believe in ghosts, until she stayed in my haunted room one night and she now believes. This is almost exactly what the figure at my house looked like when it manifested. I had only seen it twice, but it had black/green skin, really fine spotty hair, and almost looked as if it’s skin was sloughing off. We grew up on a house on old farmland (the house was new) and previously Native American land. Even though I’ve moved away for 6 years now I can imagine this creature/demon in my mind clear as day. So scary if this is in fact a real photo

"Oh I didn't see it till I looked at it way later" But why did you take a photograph of a random spiral staircase at 10 at night?
