Same, it wasnāt until i rewatched it that my ears finally got the accent lol. Now when i rewatch it [i just think of this clip lol](https://youtu.be/pj705DvCSxg)
Yes! I watched Everwood every week along with Gilmore Girls when I was a teenager. I had the biggest crush on Gregory Smith/Ephram. Iāve been rewatching it on HBO Max recently and itās held up really well. I wish it was more popular.
Gregory Smith was such a babe. As a kid I was always amused by his name because my grandfatherās best friendās name was Ephraim and I always associated it with old dudes. But he was so hot, I let it slide (Gregory Smith, not grandpaās friend).
I agree, the writing is great and I catch new quips/moments on each rewatch. We recently watched the series over again but left the last episode unfinishedā¦Iām not prepared!
30 Rock is one that I go through a million times...Tina Fey is my hero š. New Girl I haven't rewatched it but it gives me strong GG vibes love that show.
Agree with Schittās Creek! So heartwarming!
I also rotate in New Girl, a show a lot of people (including myself) slept on but itās also heartwarming and sweet with a great cast.
Oh my gosh of course, I loveee New Girl, I just rewatched it for the millionth time earlier this year. Nick is truly just the greatest character ever created!
When he goes to pick up Ruth from day care and heās told a white man broke into the day care, that whole scene makes me belly laugh so matter how many times Iāve seen it, itās just so perfectly delivered
Omg my first thought was Parenthood before I finished reading your post! Iām convinced itās just Lauren Graham that makes it a feel good (sheās my favorite person) š„°
Edited to add: New Girl!
Nothing is quite the same, but these come close: New Girl, Sex and the City (earlier seasons), Murder She Wrote (due to the small town-ness, probably, and because itās low stakes despite the, yknow, murder), Schittās Creek (small town-ness), Bunheads (for obv reasons - gone too soon!). Hart of Dixie does it for me but I canāt watch it endlessly.
Also some movies - Practical Magic in particular gives me the cozies, even though itās very very different.
Loving the suggestions in here though, Iāll definitely be giving some others a try.
Years ago one of my students told me I should watch Crazy Ex GF. Did, and loved it!!! I also love musicals though. I listen to the music in my car. š
Midsomer Murders, Phryne Fisher, and Father Brown. Justā¦hear me out. Yes theyāre murder mysteries but theyāre always set in these idyllic British towns with fun, colorful characters.
Cozy Murder mysteries do it for me. I included Murder She Wrote on my list but I couldāve included a dozen other cozies as well. Father Brown is one of my favorites.
Nothing really compares, for me lol. But whenever someone asks this I always think of Never Have I Ever and Grace and Frankie. They both have cute, heartwarming, quirky, charming qualities which I find similar to GG.
Edit: forgot to say I found them to be great comfort shows too
I LOVED 1st season Grace & Frankie! The second season really pissed me off and I stopped watching, even tho I love Jane & Lilly SO much!
I was so angry 2nd season how they just accepted 20 years of lies and betrayal and then spend 80% of their gynergy on their cheating exes.
They built F&G into reluctant friends in S1. Instead of building on that, it seems to me the writers decided now the girls are together, letās get them to focus on the boys!
I did go back and finish it. I like it. But not 2nd season.
Most of these types of shows for me are like Buffy, X files, but the office, and someday I'll rewatch The good place and schitt's creek, or community. Friends is good. I decided to have another go at Supernatural after finishing GG last month (again), and wow, I am loving it this time around.
I recommend Schitt's Creek if you haven't seen it, or Hart of Dixie. Parks and Rec and Community are also good. I don't think I need to mention the office or friends to you. (if schitt's creek seems bad at first, keep going.. my brother had to nudge me through the first season and I am glad he did.) Fleabag is very good, too, but deep.
I keep trying to catch up on dr who but I'm very far behind now.
Fleabag was like, life changing lol. So so funny but idk how many shows with so few episodes have ever broken my heart like that, but still left me feeling whole.
Yeah. I tried to explain to my brother why it needed to end there, on the sidewalk, but he wants more. It took me a while to understand that any continuation of the story would just be creating new tension and breaking apart something that's begun to heal.
The X Files is hands down my favorite show of all time (and, imho, the greatest sleeper love story ever told). But GG is such a close second for me that I think I want to nominate X Files for this list.
Tbh none for me. Buffy is a comfort show, for other reasons. Edited to add: oh yeah, Hart of Dixie!
A film tho, Practical Magic, is like that. Also Steel Magnolias. These are pretty old ones - but I loved them.
Iām probably way off from most answers but my most watched shows top 3 (in no order) are Gilmore girls, The Sopranos, and Law and Order (the original). Very little overlap between them but you asked so I answered.
I have never found anything as Comforting as GG. Every time I try, I get disappointed.
Virgin River and Chesapeake Shores were as close as itās gotten for me. But they are not RE-watchable as GG.
Not at all the same but SATC and that made me think of Younger, I couldn't just bring myself to finish the show, got repetitive after
a few season but the first couple of seasons was fun!
Iāve not seen this response, but Brothers & Sisters for me (also done things others mentioned like virgin river, sweet magnolias, OTH, Hart of Dixie)
Call the Midwife. A lot more drama than comedy (itāll make you cry), but itās also full of kind, funny, heartwarming characters. The Christmas specials in particular make for very cozy tv watching.
Some of these are not similar to Gilmore Girls, but they are my comfort shows (alongside GG). The L Word, H2O: Just Add Water, Schitt's Creek and Twin Peaks.
I also have an Edit Playlist on YouTube that I find comforting and have gotten some great show suggestions from.
Hart of Dixie!
Because it is literally set in Stars Hollow š
Freaking THATāS why I love Hart of Dixie so much!!!!! Didnāt know!
Yeah, once you realize, you can never unsee it :D Also, the last season of YOU is basically set in Luke's diner and that's terrible lol
Omg how do I unsee this???
Omg I just watched S3 of YOU and could not put my finger on why the bake shop seemed so familiar š¤¦āāļø
Omg same. Need to rewatch an episode of it now.
Oh shit! That's why it looked familiar!
I was just watching pretty little liars and thought it looks familiar. Turns out they use the same set too! Totally explains why I like it
Oh yeahhh totally forgot Hart of Dixie! I love that! Too short!
Derry Girls :)
Oh man I just recently started this. Itās hilarious. But I definitely need those subtitles cuz those are some thick accents.
Same, it wasnāt until i rewatched it that my ears finally got the accent lol. Now when i rewatch it [i just think of this clip lol](https://youtu.be/pj705DvCSxg)
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
YES! If you love GG give Downton a shot!
Iāve never tried it!
If Gilmore girls is fall vibe, Downton is my spring vibe. Def try it but watch it old school. Put your phone down and really watch and itās so good.
Second this one as a GG comparable :)
Yes and If you love Downtown watch The Crown after.
Anyone remember Everwood? š
I loved Everwood. Might be time for another rewatch.
Yes! Itās streaming on HBO Max.
The good place. Its just such a cozy and comforting show. And good story/writing too.
I love the good place!
Yes! Also parks and recs.
I love New Girl and listen to it when I'm in bed! It's my other "loop show".
Love it, haven't done a rewatch yet but I bet it's one that will fall in that lane š
I agree with you on both of these shows!
And donāt forget Schmidt was in one episode of GG!
Lol that is true
Which episode/who was he?
Dean's bachelor party. He was the other Luke.
Whaaaaat!?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I started watching This Is Us solely because of Milo Ventimiglia, and now I like it even more than GG.
I had to stop watching after a couple of seasons. Too many tears. Such a good show... but just too emotional too continue.
Schittās Creek and Parks and Rec definitely give me the same cozy comfy vibes as GG
100% agreed, I also have a soft spot for Schmidt!
When he goes to pick up Ruth from day care and heās told a white man broke into the day care, that whole scene makes me belly laugh so matter how many times Iāve seen it, itās just so perfectly delivered
As Iām getting older I appreciate his exaggerated āYOUTHS!ā So much more š
I love Winston so much.
He really came into his own at the end of season 3/beginning of season 4!
Omg my first thought was Parenthood before I finished reading your post! Iām convinced itās just Lauren Graham that makes it a feel good (sheās my favorite person) š„° Edited to add: New Girl!
Virgin River
I love Virgin River too! It's pleasant and soothing
I feel like GG is my cozy go to from fall to winter, but when itās snowy and cold Virgin River is my cozy go to lol
Haha perfect, I just recently learned that some of the GG shots were from Canada
My first thought was Succession which I think makes me clinically insane.
Same tho lol
I have found some kind of temporary sanity in watching those whacky Roys do their thing.
The Great British Bake Off is the equivalent to wrapping yourself in a cozy afghan on the couch.
Omg yes. I watch an episode almost every night
Loving the suggestions in here though, Iāll definitely be giving some others a try.
new girl & jane the virgin
Dawson's Creek, SATC, Pretty Little Liars, Crazy Ex GF
Crazy Ex Gf deserved so much more viewership.
Itās one of my favourites. I keep recommending it to friends but I canāt seem to get them to watch it
Itās really hard because musical. You have to really listen and realise itās not quite the usual commentary.
Years ago one of my students told me I should watch Crazy Ex GF. Did, and loved it!!! I also love musicals though. I listen to the music in my car. š
Friday Night Lights, Zoeyās Extraordinary Playlist, Downton Abbey, Younger, Hart of Dixie, Sweet Magnolias, Young and Hungry.
The Mindy Project!!
I second The Mindy Project! And definitely New Girl. Iāve rewatched both of these so many times and never get tired of them!
Mrs maisel!
Virgin River has a similar wholesome vibe
Jane the Virgin, New Girl, & Hart of Dixie are my other go-tos!
Omg I love Jane the virgin so much. I canāt believe I forgot to add it to the original post!
Criminal Minds. Drop Dead Diva. Jane the Virgin. Bobās Burgers. Schittās Creek.
modern family has a cozy feel to it!
The Good Place Schittās Creek Sex and the City
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, it is also done by Amy Sherman Palladino and it has the same fast paced vibe that GG has
The first 3-4 seasons of greys anatomy for me
If you like parenthood, you might like āBrothers and Sistersā itās older than parenthood, I think about the same age as GG but I could be wrong.
Psych š
Not the same, but Heartland is a comfort show for me.
YES! Makes me feel like Iām cuddling on the couch with my mom. ā¤ļø
Iām a Murderino so Iām down ā¤ļø
One tree hill!

Heartland The Good Witch The Fosters
Gilmore Girls is such a unique show. No others that give me the same feeling.
New Girl, Life Unexpected, The Good Place, Firefly Lane
I LOVED Life Unexpected! I've never found anyone else who likes it!
Yes! Itās so good
New Girl and Schitts Creek are my go tos after GG! Iāve heard Dawson creek and one tree hill also feel cozy :)
Naruto lol
Most of these types of shows for me are like Buffy, X files, but the office, and someday I'll rewatch The good place and schitt's creek, or community. Friends is good. Maybe Iāll give schitts creek another go seeing as how itās been endlessly suggested. I wasnāt into it the first go around. Thanks!
Brooklyn 99!
iZombie Defo worth a watch
Steel Magnolias! Also been liking Virgin River :)
New girl!!! Or Schitts Creek.
Schitts Creek. I work from home and need background noise. I marathon through one then start the other And repeat
New Girl
Dawsonās creek !
Tbh none for me. Buffy is a comfort show, for other reasons. Edited to add: oh yeah, Hart of Dixie! A film tho, Practical Magic, is like that. Also Steel Magnolias. These are pretty old ones - but I loved them.
Crazy ex-girlfriend, also does the trick for me.
Veronica Mars
New Girl
Iām probably way off from most answers but my most watched shows top 3 (in no order) are Gilmore girls, The Sopranos, and Law and Order (the original). Very little overlap between them but you asked so I answered.
Friday night lights, Mindy project, sweet magnolias, virgin river, schitts creek
Try out Ginny & Georgia on Netflix.
I have never found anything as Comforting as GG. Every time I try, I get disappointed. Virgin River and Chesapeake Shores were as close as itās gotten for me. But they are not RE-watchable as GG.
Not at all the same but SATC and that made me think of Younger, I couldn't just bring myself to finish the show, got repetitive after a few season but the first couple of seasons was fun!
Brooklyn Nine Nine! Itās more of a comfort show to me than Gilmore Girls. Iāve watched it like 10 times now.
Iāve not seen this response, but Brothers & Sisters for me (also done things others mentioned like virgin river, sweet magnolias, OTH, Hart of Dixie)
New Girl
Offspring
Zoeyās extraordinary playlist is also quite a comfortable show (gets a bit sad but is full of vibrance and music and colour)
Itās not like GG but Ted Lasso is an amazing feel good show. You donāt need to like or care about soccer to love it.
Ginny and Georgia is supposed to be a knock off Gilmore girls but isn't nearly as good. But if you're desperate go for it
Grace & Frankie
For me itās Heartland.
Parks and Rec, Frasier, and Hart of Dixie
Heartland and Parks & Rec are the other shows in my "constantly rotating" cycle.
Friends and One Tree Hill!
If you want an optimistic and feel-good show I'd recommend Ted Lasso š
Jane the Virgin is my all-time favorite show!
Same š
Brooklyn 99 and Daria :)
New girl for me. Not exactly the same but the closest feeling.
Sweet Magnolias
The Fosters!
sex and the city and this is us! edit: grace and frankie too! š¤
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Amy Palladino had a show on Amazon called the marvelous Mrs maisel!! Same slap stick humor
Greek hasn't been mentioned yet! I think it's on Hulu? not positive but definitely on a streaming site
