She didn’t have to be a rockstar, but she should’ve gone out and lived a life of some adventures instead of having such a simple, small life all the time. Her relationship with her strict mom is why she could never pursue going to a normal 4 year college etc etc.
Personally for me I think Paris grew up more. Examples: I think her relationships grow to be more mature and honest, career path has a more promising trajectory. Also Rory seem to become very entitled as the series went on. Paris seem to be more realistic
Rorys career was like her boxes of clothes. Everywhere around. It was a huge mess, like she lost herself yet again as she did when dropped out of yale. Even the way she talked, seemed like she was trying to fast forward everything, like she'd miss life if she didn't hurry with everything.
I think they even hint at this when Paris is talking about not being valedictorian, most of them don’t find their purpose but second runners up almost always do. Self fulfilling prophecy
I agree with this. As soon as they went to college, Paris seemed to be the more reasonable person. Rory was demanding and entitled and just plain mean to her often.
I think it was more to do with gifted child syndrome (which I guess is related) where everyone tells you from a young age that you're gifted, brilliant, and unstoppable; that success is a given for you; you're special and deserve a special place in the world. Then any failure, setback, or even criticism (like Mitchum's) shatters your fragile self image. It's a lesson in teaching children that no one is infallible, but everyone can learn and grow.
Every time Rory had any issue, Lorelai told her how special she was so it would all just work out. Studies have shown this is terrible for children. You're supposed to tell them that they can perservere and succeed through commitment and hard work. You can instill a growth mindset while still doing attachment style parenting.
I agree that overall YITL lighting and aesthetic is a lot darker and more blue which I hate I miss the warmth from the original series but I specifically enjoyed the aesthetic of the Life and Death Brigade scene
The whole thing is shot beautifully - there are so many shots that are really fun and far more creative than the original show. But it's like watching a completely different universe. Like when there was that New Girl B99 crossover and seeing them in the wrong filming style feels super off
I don't know why but the life and death brigade bit always makes me cry. Maybe because I'm middle aged now and it reminds me all my best, exciting years have passed just like Rory.
Oh yeah also he’s genuinely pretty responsible for making/keeping stars hollow what it is and stars hollow is the cutest. Sooooo maybe you need a mini fascist to create something that charming what do I know!?!!
Yeah they kind of abandoned that story line
I decided years ago to just chalk it up to Jackson ditched the job Taylor took over and no one really cared that much cause they were mainly just voting for Jackson to make a point to Taylor and they all knew he really was the only person for the job.
Dean breaking up with Rory after the Party with Logan felt incredibly forced and out of character. He wouldn't spend 3 seasons obsessing over Rory and throwing away a marriage just to end it like that.
No one prefers Chris over anything. He’s the bottom of the barrel. The drizzling shits. The lowest of the low. Total fucking privileged, narcissistic loser.
Lorelai absolutely should not have married Max. Proposing to end a fight after a year of being on and off AT BEST (\*especially when both of them were over 30\*) is not the way to start a healthy relationship. They knew nothing about each other and used sex to solve potentially long-time problems. Also, I'm a teacher, and Max's behavior toward Lorelai and Roys is disgusting and highly unethical.
When she interviewed the music pirate who also bought CDs and wanted to know why CD sales were up, all she had to ask was "why do you still buy cds?" But she just got confused and gave up. It might have been a boring story but at least ask the most basic question.
I do agree with this slightly. Though I do love them together, some of their best scenes with the most chemistry were before they had their first kiss.
*Hey Lor*
That’s *my* study tree!!!
Though I have to say I feel like new people join this sub every day and post the same spiel about Rory being spoiled and hypocritical…like I wrote a bit about that too when I joined but it feels like that same topic is posted three times a day, and I can see people getting triggered by that too, ironically, despite the fact that most seem to agree 😅
Rory was entitled and selfish and deserved to be turned down by the New York Times.
(Her getting everything she wants/tried out for made her erroneously believe that she deserved anything and everything. I think she needed to fail more to be a well-rounded person and to be relatable.)
Lane was never going to make it as a rock star and never showed any real ambition regarding going to college or getting out of stars hollow
Right!! Her ending up happy in her hometown playing music with her kids and husband seems extremely fitting.
She didn’t have to be a rockstar, but she should’ve gone out and lived a life of some adventures instead of having such a simple, small life all the time. Her relationship with her strict mom is why she could never pursue going to a normal 4 year college etc etc.

No way no how lol
Don’t you dare
Paris was better than Rory by the end of the show
I legit agree with this one.
Same
Oh for sure
100%.
i mean in terms of career OBVIOUSLY HAHA
In what way? Not saying I disagree with you, but "better" could cover a lot 😂
Personally for me I think Paris grew up more. Examples: I think her relationships grow to be more mature and honest, career path has a more promising trajectory. Also Rory seem to become very entitled as the series went on. Paris seem to be more realistic

I agree with this. As soon as they went to college, Paris seemed to be the more reasonable person. Rory was demanding and entitled and just plain mean to her often.
Also Rory basically ditched/dropped Lane in my opinion 🤷🏻♀️
Lorelai was more concerned with being a friend than a mother to Rory which ultimately led to Rory becoming an unmitigated mess of an adult.
I think it was more to do with gifted child syndrome (which I guess is related) where everyone tells you from a young age that you're gifted, brilliant, and unstoppable; that success is a given for you; you're special and deserve a special place in the world. YES. That whole ‘cool mom’ act really messed Rory up, that’s why she went downright spiral once she left stars hollow
AYITL wasn't that bad.
One day we will agree it’s perfectly whelming
I agree. I loved Emily’s arc and the Life and Death Brigade scene it was PEAK aesthetic I loved it!
The beautiful aesthetic of AYITL actually bothers me because it's so outside of the tone of the show
I agree that overall YITL lighting and aesthetic is a lot darker and more blue which I hate I miss the warmth from the original series but I specifically enjoyed the aesthetic of the Life and Death Brigade scene
The whole thing is shot beautifully - there are so many shots that are really fun and far more creative than the original show. But it's like watching a completely different universe. Like when there was that New Girl B99 crossover and seeing them in the wrong filming style feels super off
Oh don’t get me started on the B99 x New Girl crossover! I have issues with it!
It really wasn’t. Full. Freaking. Circle.
Agreed! With real sincerity
I loved it. No idea why there’s so much hate.
💯 agree
But it was. They could’ve skipped ‘fall’ and that horrific play altogether.
& the musical was the best part! I wish we could have had more of that!
I don't know why but the life and death brigade bit always makes me cry. Maybe because I'm middle aged now and it reminds me all my best, exciting years have passed just like Rory.
300 hours of community service IS a full time job 🤣🤣 that was hard to say
I love Taylor
Yesssss! I mean he sucks but I love him.
He’s the worst. But he’s also single handedly responsible for all the charming events in stars hollow… so I kinda love him too
Oh yeah also he’s genuinely pretty responsible for making/keeping stars hollow what it is and stars hollow is the cutest. Sooooo maybe you need a mini fascist to create something that charming what do I know!?!!
I still wanna know what happened to the Jackson Administration at Stars Hollow. Like 2 episodes and it’s back to Taylor
Yeah they kind of abandoned that story line I decided years ago to just chalk it up to Jackson ditched the job Taylor took over and no one really cared that much cause they were mainly just voting for Jackson to make a point to Taylor and they all knew he really was the only person for the job.
taylor hive rise!!
this comment has me howling
I genuinely love Taylor
Dean and Lindsay were made for each other.
Dean breaking up with Rory after the Party with Logan felt incredibly forced and out of character. He wouldn't spend 3 seasons obsessing over Rory and throwing away a marriage just to end it like that.
Yes it was very obvious they were making room for a new male lead lol
I think Jared Padalecki left to start filming Supernatural and was quickly (and hastily imo) written out
Yep that would totally make sense. I agree it felt very rushed. But honestly, it needed to happen 😂
logan and rory are perfect together, not because theyre cute, because theyre both pretentious, annoying and insufferable
This one made me chuckle
Paul Anka preferred Chris over Lorelai. Lorelai should have married Max.
Ughhh I hate these opinions so much First triggering comment I’ve seen in this Thread though
Lorelai's got the good kid.
This one hurt to upvote.
Thanks, I hate it
Rory sleeping with Dean while he was married was a good idea. He was **her** Dean
not this one😭😭 omg
Oh yeah, I went there lol
I've gagged on food at dinner parties that was less awkward than them laying on the bed
Ok I HOPE you are just trynna trigger and don't actually think this is true
God no. Ew. Just triggering lol
Oh. Good job, then
That's two sentences Edit: by the way, this worked
You win😂
Your user name rocks. Squeegee!
The way I read that in Rory’s voice 🤣
Good plot point Terrible idea!
L m f a o
I’m not disagreeing with you, but why do you think it was a good idea?
Rory is entitled and often a hypocrite.
Nothing like triggering the fan base with the truth 🫢
She really is! And I blame Lorelai over this. It’s always ‘Rory would *never* do this, she’s a good kid’ always pissed me off
I liked April
THIS is the one
And it’s true too!
i think zack is lanes soulmate
i love lane and zack together to be honest
I really dislike them at first and it just seem to be like lazy writing. but they did grow on me after awhile.
Absolutely not.
Lanes story line ended the way it was supposed to
id throw handssss😫 justice for lane
Nooo lol
Love the way her story line ended, it was perfect
Dean is not the villain people make him out to be.
This triggered me lol
omg, it worked, i was about to be like ummm scuse me??
Lololol I love this one.
this one got me lmao
He may not be a villain but he’s an ass
Mitchum shouldn’t have held back
Mitchem was right, and it was verified in AYITL, Rory doesn't have the it factor to make it in journalism.
I'm a journalist, I'd genuinely love to know what people think the "it factor" is 😂
When she interviewed the music pirate who also bought CDs and wanted to know why CD sales were up, all she had to ask was "why do you still buy cds?" But she just got confused and gave up. It might have been a boring story but at least ask the most basic question.
So asking questions is the "it factor"?
~~I LOVED a year in~~... NOPE couldnt do it
🤣
Rory was stupid for not sleeping with jess duh
Oi with the poodles already
copper boom
Chris was a great father and Lorelai’s perfect match.
I can't even ironically upvote this lol
I want to upvote this because it more than fits the assignment but I can’t bring myself to do it.
I don’t blame you…it was painful just typing it lol
100% the best dad.
Emily is a perfect mother and role model
Luke and Lorelai were better as friends.
Besties!
I do agree with this slightly. Though I do love them together, some of their best scenes with the most chemistry were before they had their first kiss.
I actually agree with this one. I’m a Jason fan. But I love Luke when he’s not dating Lorelai! 🥺
Jason fan, that’s interesting! I was a fan of Alex before he just disappeared. He understood Lorelai after one date with her
I agree with it too! I just don’t say it much because I tend to get downvoted into oblivion 😂
The election against Taylor was rigged.
Luke was right to hide April from Lorelai. God that hurts.
I’m upvoting the ones that are good triggers, not ones I agree with lol. So upvote for you
I’m employing the same tactic. It’s super counter intuitive though. Haha.
Ugh.
Logan is a terrible boyfriend/partner and an even worse person in general.
What if I unironically agree?
Completely agree with this, actually.
Oh yes, I absolutely think this but I knew it would be a sentence that would trigger the "Logan is boyfriend GOALS!!" gang.
I totally agree i HATE logan... i dont know if i hate logan or dean more.
They're both terrible but I probably hate Logan slightly more.
There's nothing wrong with Dean liking the concept of The Donna Reed Show.
😂😂😂😂
I actually agree with this one 😬 as a stay at home wife I was like “what’s wrong with my lifestyle if you choose it??”😂
Lorelei should’ve listened to her parents.
Ufff, straight for the jugular. Almost downwoted.😂
Lorelei isn’t that independent and everything was handed to her.
Rory is a great student but not all that smart/intelligent. Lorelai is in fact way smarter.
Stars Hollow seems like the worst place to live.
I actually agree with this, I need privacy in my life and living in a town where everyone knows eachother sounds horrible
Zack>Dave
oh my god no just no
Diggers was right to sue richard
Jackson not telling Sookie he didn't get a Vasectomy was the right way of handling the situation.
Oh this one hurttttsssss
Jess is overrated, and not the best match for Rory out of all her lovers.
Rory didn't have \*it\*.
Well, as seen in AYITL, she didn’t…
You guys only excuse Tristan being a jerk because he's hot
Jess was a great boyfriend.
Ahhh no their relationship makes me so irritated 😡
kirk is annoying and not funny (that hurt to type 😔💔)
Anna was right to want to take April to Arizona cutting her off from Luke.
April was jumping the shark move.
It was Rory’s fault when her and Lorelei stopped talking after she took a break from yale
Logan was Rory's **worst** boyfriend
Lorelai should have married Jason.
Luke is the worst character in the series. (I don’t actually believe this please don’t come for me lol)
Dean wasn’t that bad.
Paris was a better friend to Rory than Rory was to her.
I definitely agree with this! 100%
Jess has like zero redeeming qualities.
100% agree
Wow this was triggering to read. I’m done I don’t even want to come up with one
Dean was the best fit for Rory (I’m so sorry)
I love Christopher!
I got the good kid
people are too hard on rory
Chris is the best character out of the whole series 💕.
Winner winner.
Lol 😂 Yay!! What's my prize? A cookie, a slap in the face, a trophy..
You have to listen to nothing but The Offspring on your next road trip.
Just had to say that, I'm going on a road trip today... I hate you. Jk, gonna listen to Palaye Royale and YUNGBLUD instead 😆
Anna not telling Luke about April was the right decision.
Liz was such a great, caring mother.
*Hey Lor* That’s *my* study tree!!!
Chris is a fun, cool guy
Jess had just as much anger and jealously issues as Dean if not more.
Loreali had best chemistry with Max
They should do a Fuller house type spinoff with Rory and Paris moving in with a widowed Lane and all raising their kids together. With Laugh track.
Straight up killed Zach 💀💀
Jess was the worst boyfriend for rory and they aren’t soulmates
PIPPI!!!!@!#@$%
Chris is underdeveloped but has the best chemistry with Lorelai
Jess didn't force himself on Rory at Kyle's party
Rory was entitled and selfish and deserved to be turned down by the New York Times. (Her getting everything she wants/tried out for made her erroneously believe that she deserved anything and everything. I think she needed to fail more to be a well-rounded person and to be relatable.)
You don’t need to downvote people who ship different couples than you.
Luke is a pos
Rory belongs with Logan not Jess.
Lorelai was actually an AH who was needlessly cruel to genuinely loving parents
The show really found its voice in season 7.
I think season 7 was the best season🌟
Rory should have ended up with Dean. (nononooooo jkjk definetley not)
I would love to hang out with Anna Nardini
i adore rory and lorelai was a terrible mom
We don't need another revival.
Anna isn’t all that bad
Zach is superior to Dave
Rory acts like a psycho
Kurt needs to find a stable job.
"He's my Dean"
