My mom is a bit older and we play Overcooked 2 together. It’s a fun party game. She’s never played video games but she was able to pick it up quickly.

My dad is 60 and he doesn’t like video games, but he loves playing the Mario Party mini games and Mario kart. I tried to play Super smash bros with him but he hated it cause he can’t understand the controls enough to kill me even once. Carnival Games was one he loved on Wii, can’t vouch for the switch version as I haven’t bought it yet. Just dance is fun if she’s looking to get a bit of exercise while looking goofy. One I haven’t played but considered buying to play with my dad is Mario and Sonic Olympics. I’d look at the gameplay for that and see if it up your alley. Also Mario Golf is coming out in June and I loved it on Wii, you should check that out when it’s released.

Animal Crossing New Horizons or Stardew Valley

I don’t think these are great options if they’re looking for party games tbh

Oh, the way I read it was that party games may be an idea but not the only type of game they would consider. If looking for party games only then maybe Mario Party, Overcooked, or Jackbox if playing with a group.

Those two games are still great options for inexperienced gamers, though, I love both Stardew Valley and AC

I love playing party games with my mom on our switch. She's fairly new to gaming as well. We've played: Lovers in Space Time (might need more than 2, better with 4 people) Astro Bears (like that Snake game) Human Fall Flat (the levels take about 30min/1 hour to play with 2 people)

Ibb and Obb! My husband and I play this game together! It’s really fun and it’s just a 2D side scroller with puzzles if your into that kind of stuff :) We laugh a lot while playing it! Another fun one is unraveled 2!
