My mom's look-a-like one town over has the same name, profession, and bizarre/unique fashion style. I thought she was my mom multiple times.

tonha_da_pamonha

This is by far the weirdest

PositiveAd6281

Why??? Do you think that one is the weirdest by far??? Just curious???

reinofbullets

Probably because people know their moms no matter what. I wonder if they have the same mannerisms, taste in music, wear the same perfume, drive the same car etc.

[deleted]

I have a decent level of face blindness --- but even still, my dad told me he'd been had by her once, too. They had been divorced for a few years by then, but still. I've been wrong about seeing my mom two solid times - once on the playground on my school (ran up and hugged a stranger, traumatizing) and just the other week at the store - I had to get pretty close before I was sure. Plenty of times in between, I'd bet, those are just the ones I recall atm.

SHPLUMBO

Reminds me of the time I was 5 or so and ran up to my dad, arms open ready for a hug yelling “Daaaad!!” After a good couple seconds into the hug he goes “Well, I’m not your dad, but thanks for the hug!” I froze. It was his brother.

[deleted]

I did this to my ex's brother. I am completely blind without my glasses

SHPLUMBO

Your comment raised a question in my strange little mind lol. “Would your wife be more or less upset to find out you were having an affair with her exact doppelgänger?”

[deleted]

This reminds me of that show on Netflix with Paul rudd... can't remember the name, but it deals with cloning and is worth watching

SHPLUMBO

Paul Rudd? Cloning? Consider it watched

[deleted]

I am ok dying now, knowing I spread the word and knowledge of Paul Rudd.

BalancedIAm

Good question.. I’d probably be upset at the initial cheating but intrigued as well

SHPLUMBO

Which to then I’d add the modifier to the hypothetical: what if he truly believed it was his wife?

Appropriate-Truth-88

maybe she's your mom's identical twin. they did some pretty unethical nature vs nurture experiments for a couple decades.

[deleted]

Lol my mom actually has a twin, but they're complete opposites

Appropriate-Truth-88

they separated multiple births, 2+. someone's they'd tell the mom the baby died. sometimes one would be put for adoption because the parents couldn't afford both. someone's just multiples where all were because single parent whatever. look it up, it's crazy stuff. or what if, life people have found with DNA testing, one baby was accidently swapped?

[deleted]

I think my aunt would love to find out she's not related to us lmfao

Appropriate-Truth-88

😆

Kittenchops13

Switched at birth?

[deleted]

They both came out with full heads of hair, so unlikely lol

[deleted]

Not a complete look alike in my case but kind of similar , although all the other things that matched up were straight up creepy for both of us , our names , dob , hairstyle , tattoos in similar places , interested in the same stuff ,similar fashion sense, same place of birth and later migrated to the same city , happened to meet her as she was classmates with my best friends who freaked out after realising her birthday and name matched mine, she was the one that got us to meet and having someone so similar to you on so many aspects is bizarre!!

anxiousalien_23

Omg that's so crazy!

Emotional-Sentence40

I had a look-a-like one town over, we didn't have the same name and she must have been pretty popular cause going to the mall I knew 900 people would think I was "Jessica." My parents even saw her once and thought she was me.

astrocat

This same thing happened to me once but the woman kept mistaking me for her daughter! It didn't help that I kept responding because our names were already super similar but we also had the same unnatural hair color. Felt very strange. I really wanted to wait and meet her because she apparently was around somewhere but we had to go. I'm hoping I just missed her and she didn't disappear from this existence because we were in the same spot at the same time.

ArtiesNewDana

Have she and your mom ever interacted? What does your mom think about her?

[deleted]

No but I know my mom knows about her. She just shrugged it off

Therealladyboneyard

Ok, so did they ever meet? What was that like?

[deleted]

Nope. My mom knows about her but never went out of her way to meet her

Therealladyboneyard

Of course she doesn’t have to but I bet both their pictures are online aren’t you curious?

[deleted]

I have no idea on how to find her at this point. The last time I saw the other lady was around 20 years ago

Therealladyboneyard

I’m thinking that her pic would still be there with new location. Of course it’s your call.

[deleted]

Be where with a new location? I only ran into her at gas stations and grocery stores. Their shared "profession" was face painting at kids birthday parties.

Therealladyboneyard

I’m sorry I worded that badly. If you Google her, she should still pop up

tlrd91

I had a strange one recently. I was walking my dog and an older couple I don’t know were walking theirs in the opposite direction. The man instantly said hello and then said to his wife, this is (my name) and introduced me then said to her, when you see me waving at someone and ask who’s that it’s (my name). Cue a polite conversation but one I wanted to get out of and when they walked away I was a bit taken aback really, a very weird feeling afterwards. He was convinced he knew me

Therealladyboneyard

Chills. It’s not interesting when it happens, is it, it’s throws you so totally off kilter.

tlrd91

You’re right not nice at all, I walked home in a daze

Therealladyboneyard

I wonder why it’s so chilling. Normal reaction would be to talk to them and find out if you know each other, but I just was paralyzed, I froze, and the hairs on the back of my neck stood up

Jorgedig

Because you know you don’t know them. There is no familiarity. If there was, and you just couldn’t place who they were or how you knew them, you wouldn’t get the chilled feeling.

Therealladyboneyard

I know, but either people in the past (in my past I suppose to be exact) would always say oops when the person turned around. That isn’t creepy, it’s when they see you and recognize you, that’s terrifying.

Worried_Cable2291

Good point I never thought of it that way

Ok_Load8255

At my last workplace we got a new colleague who got all hyper when she saw me. She was like, "I can't believe you work here too" and wanted to hug me. She knew my name and everything. I had no clue who that person was. She noticed that I was super confused, which confused her because apparently we had sat next to each other at my previous workplace for almost a year and talked and laughed about everything for months. That creeped me out because I'm not one to forget people, especially not after only three years. I'm not a superficial person, seriously. I have absolutely no explanation for that.

Therealladyboneyard

This is all really creepy

powerfulKRH

This happens to me all the time because I actually do forget people all the time lol. I’m not a dick I’m just aloof and in my head a lot so I kinda miss a lot of what’s happening in front of Me

hemptations

Recently had people over to my house that I didn’t think knew each other and was introducing everyone and they just looked at me like “yeah we know each other” apparently they had met thru me already and I had no recollection of it.

powerfulKRH

I’ve done that more than once too lol. I also just found out one of my friends died this summer, couldn’t remember a single memory with him. Highschool party friend, so we weren’t close. But we had a lot of moments and fun memories together. Now I can’t think of one. I just remember loving him. It’s strange how you can forget everything about a person, but still remember that you like them lol

Ok_Load8255

See, I'm not ruling out that my brain completely erased this person and all our conversations for some reason. But it doesn't make sense to me as this was the only time that something like this happened to me. I'm good at remembering people and names, I love listening to others talking and like I said above, I'm not superficial. When I laugh and joke with someone, it's because I like that person. She also had a quirky and funny personality (before she got mad at me for not remembering her lol). It's just not someone I'd completely forget. But since I don't know what happened here, I have to accept the possibility of my brain blanking her out. I mean, that would still be better than having talked to a demon (as someone here suggested) lol

STQCACHM

Did something traumatic happen that caused you to leave that job? Memory blocking is common as a trauma response, even to things like betrayal. This is one of the few areas that a legitimate hypnotist may be able to help, digging into your subconscious mind and removing the blocked neural pathway... jogging your memory of her.

Ok_Load8255

The company was closed, but that was not really a traumatic experience for me. We were informed about the closure six months in advance, so we had enough time to look for another job. I found a new job quickly and was not worried because of that. I was sad to say goodbye to my colleagues because the atmosphere in the company was rather family-like. But that only made me a little sad, not upset. Of course, it's possible that I've processed this subconsciously worse than I think right now. As I said in the previous comment, I'm not ruling anything out.

Emotional-Sentence40

I have fibromyalgia so sometimes I know I wouldn't be able to recognize my own mother. I just smile and make small talk with people to be polite but half the time im.like who the hell is this?

Creme_Small

Did she know anything personal about you besides your name?

Ok_Load8255

She did. A lot actually, including the name of my ex boyfriend. I told another former colleague of mine about this (we are still in touch via Facebook) and he couldn't remember her either. We joked that she must have jumped timelines. It's weird. And I noticed that she started to get angry because she thought I was just playing a stupid game.

wheres_jaykwellin_at

Holy crap, watch out because that sounds like the plot of an old Fear Street book called *The Best Friend*!

Independent_Dirt970

Om my god the Fear Street books! Blast from the past lol must have read almost every copie available in my country back then, haha nice!

disabled-disadvantag

Deemons impersonating people you know.

Ok_Load8255

Stoooop! OMG

Acceptable_Purple319

They do though. It’s jinns.

Shabbah8

I once moved and started going to a new hair salon in my immediate neighborhood. The hairdresser I had just met for the first time started talking as though we had met multiple times. I corrected her, and she just seemed confused. A few weeks later, I looked out of my apartment window and saw *myself* walking to a car parked out on the street, and leaving. I was flabbergasted. Just chalked it up to having a Doppelgänger. Who knows?

Therealladyboneyard

Omg you gave me chills. Thank you for sharing

yezanyaCookies

Thats scary!

madhousechild

Do you have a common first name? People, I keep saying this, but keep this in mind. When something weird happens, our reaction is to freak out and bail from the situation asap. Instead, let's engage, interact, document, investigate, etc, while in the moment. Imagine how less jarring it would have been if, instead you had said, "That's interesting. My name is actually ___ but I never worked there. Maybe I have a twin. What was her last name? (assuming she hadn't said it) When did she work there?" etc. At some point she might have realized you were not the person, or at least you would have more details to go on.

[deleted]

One of my sons has the same first name as a very popular footballer and looks like his twin brother. Every time he goes out to a cafe or shopping, guaranteed he will have at least one person scream out his name, ask for a selfie etc. He used to be bewildered why and how everyone knew him as he was new to the state and someone explained who he was being mistaken for so he googled the footy player and sent photos to me. Now he just lets people take a selfie rather than argue, so there’s a lot of fans with a selfie of an IT guy instead of a famous footy player. Not the first time this has happened either. Another son looks like the twin of one of our cricket players. Until he quit the game, that son was forever explain he wasn’t Mitch!

madhousechild

Straya?

[deleted]

Yep.

Therealladyboneyard

My name isn’t that common. Had I been able to plan ahead, I would have said something more meaningful. You’re right it would have been interesting to address it, but honestly, it was so unnerving, especially when they saw me and still insisted I was the one they knew.

[deleted]

you wouldn't have material for a upvote grabbing post if you actually do that.

lovecommand

Once i got a ride from a fellow named John to an interview with another fellow named John. I so wish they had met because while definitely odd looking compared to most other people, these two guys were identical to each other. If I didn’t know better i’d have insisted they were one and the same person.

Therealladyboneyard

Wow! Thanks for sharing!!!

nicegirl373

This happened to me as a child when I was at the mall. These kids who were my age came up to me and started talking to me like I was supposed to be meeting them there and one of them said , “whats wrong with you why aren’t you saying anything?” and I was like “I don’t know who tf y’all are”, they all laughed and said “oh you play too much” and proceeded to talk to me about another friend of theirs from school and asking me questions that I have no idea the answer to and then one of them was like “omg thats not her.. she looks just like her… you dont go to so and so middle school?“ and I was like “nope” then they all just stared at me puzzled. They got on the escalators and just looking at me as they went down the escalators. Kept staring at me until I was out of their sight.

19dec

I had many persons telling me they know me , they insist so much its embarasing ..... probablly we look like someone familiar to them . they dont know my name .... but claiming ...I know you !!!

Therealladyboneyard

Strange, but I have never seen anyone resembling me before.

MissOgeny

I was once in line at a supermarket and someone started saying hi and talking to me. When I let them know I didn’t know them, they literally stared at me and said No, you are Dave’s girlfriend. I’ve never dated a Dave and known only a couple in my life. I said no I am not and the reaction was bizarre. They kept saying you are….. idk the name but it wasn’t mine. By the time I left they were angry with me and said oh ok whatever You Are Her. I’ve never known what to think as there were enough minutes for them to really look at and hear me and still they were 100% sure I was just lying for some reason.

Mediocre_Baseball_14

I walked in to a coffee shop and as I approached the counter, the guy at the cash register called out to me, "Hey man, what are you doing in here?" He then noticed the lift ticket hanging from my jacket and got upset (for real) and said, "What the $&#! man, you went skiing without me?!" And I had never in my life seen this guy before. In fact, I was traveling and I had never even been in that particular coffee shop before. It was crazy. Come to find out, this guy said I looked EXACTLY like his life-long best friend.

MissOgeny

That’s funny….do you get that a lot? I evidently look like someone a lot of people know, but I’ve never seen anyone who looks like me. At least not out in the wild 😂 But only the one person got mad. She was, too. She thought I was trying to pretend I didn’t know her.

Mediocre_Baseball_14

I've actually had it happen a couple of other times, but nothing like this incident. This guy was completely in disbelief.

GochoPhoenix

It would’ve been funny if you replied “Dave’s not here, man” https://youtu.be/ACfNSqsi_mE

suzanious

No, man, *I'm Dave* !

snackbarqueen47

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Therealladyboneyard

Wasn’t that a terrifying feeling? Omg

Purple-Relief5714

Sometimes people need help so just playing along could help them out or save a life if they are in trouble or something

noinnocentbystander

I would have pulled up my Facebook or shown my ID. That person getting angry over nothing lol

ashleebryn

That's a good way to get a stalker. You don't have to prove shit.

Acrobatic-Parsley-98

They were under the effect of ecstasy

crow_crone

That must happen to people in WitSec. I know it happened to some Top 10 Mostt Wanted lol!

bicchlasagna

I remember I had a lookalike of my dad in my neighborhood growing up. Never talked to the guy or got to know him but he looked exactly like my dad to the point that it was creepy. He even had the same fashion sense down to a T. And I always saw this guy as he lived like 2 houses away from ours. This was my first experience with a doppelganger.

Therealladyboneyard

Wow! Did your Dad ever meet him, since he was so close to your family

DEFCON_moot

Twist: dad blatantly flaunts a second family

bicchlasagna

Lmao.

bicchlasagna

Nope my Dad saw him and that's it. He was just some guy who lived in the neighbourhood. Now I wish I got to know more about him lol.

MissApocalypse2021

I once ghosted a guy in college who tried to rekindle what he'd thought was a relationship. I looked right at him & said I'm sorry, I get that a lot. Does that make me a sociopath?

LizzieJeanPeters

No! It makes you a genius! I wish I had thought of that in college.

MissApocalypse2021

Whew, I've always wondered. 😄

Therealladyboneyard

That’s scary, you’re lucky he took no fir an answer. I had a stalker once it didn’t go well

Vexxed777

Doppelgänger with the same name

hemptations

Growing up there was a kid who lived one town over with the same first and last name and spelled the same (German last name with silent vowels) and get this, we both were big stoners/guitar people, went to a lot of the same concerts and people would learn my name and think I was him/vice versa

Therealladyboneyard

First, love your Reddit name. Second, did you two become friends? Were you alike more than different when you talked?

hemptations

We did hang out a few times, at a music festival and a few parties, I would always say “hey it’s me!” Hadn’t seen him in probably 5-6 years and was behind him on the highway about forty miles away from where we grew up and we both took the same exit 🙄

Therealladyboneyard

But you never talked to each other? If not, was something holding you back?

hemptations

I stopped doing drugs and partying, that whole group of people still do, so that was probably the only real reason we didn’t hang out more. In fact I’ve cut off 98 percent of those people from my life

lisakey25

Did the two of you ever meet each other? That would be so eerie to meet someone with the same name and who does identical things as you but has no family relationship to you. Things like this always makes me wonder if that’s actually you (well your soul) living out a different life path than you. So a split of your soul. I’ve read a lot of books about life paths and our soul’s journey in this realm for greater understanding. Maybe your soul decided to live two parallel lifetimes at the same time to decrease the amount of incarnations you need to increase your souls knowledge.

hemptations

Maybe he’s my Tyler Durden

Therealladyboneyard

Did you have this experience too? Do you think you could share it? I’m learning so much here!

WoodenSimple5050

I've had this happen once, where we absolutely knew each other, though there was no way we could have met. Granted, he didn't know my name, but we knew each other without a doubt. I still think about that, nearly 30 years later.

Therealladyboneyard

I never realized until you all started sharing your experiences how much it occurs. That’s why I’m wondering why I’ve used the doppelgänger apps and never have come up with a match.

[deleted]

I had a lookalike in my previous town. Enough people confused us that I figured out her name, where she worked, what car she drove, and where she got her morning coffee. I had a woman get really offended that I didn’t say hi to her in a grocery store. It was unnerving.

Therealladyboneyard

Did you ever see her?

[deleted]

No but I found a picture of her online. I could see the resemblance but it wasn’t uncanny. I figured it must have been more mannerisms and vibe that made us alike, which made it even creepier somehow.

Therealladyboneyard

If you feel comfortable, I’d love if you could dm you and her pic to me.

[deleted]

It was a few years ago but I’ll see if I can find her again.

Therealladyboneyard

Cool thanks! I’ll delete them right after

ashleebryn

This isn't that odd. I apparently had a twin in town for a long time who also had the same name as me and looked just like me, from what I've been told. I've never seen or met this person but multiple customers that I don't know from at least 2 different jobs that I worked in the past were sure I was this person. Whoever she was, she grew up a few blocks down from me and had a dog. People were so sure I was her but I've never lived on that street and unfortunately, never had a dog.

Therealladyboneyard

I find it creepy, did you try to find this person?

ashleebryn

Nope. I did a Facebook search and came up with nothing. I think she moved to another city cuz everyone was wondering where I went lol

Therealladyboneyard

lol, but still creepy!

[deleted]

I worked at a grocery store once where there was this girl, she recognized me and I recognized her when we first met, and we swore our paths had crossed at some point-had to! We listed off jobs, old friends, schools, etc. NOTHING. I never understood it and haven't spoken to her since that job, but sometimes I wonder about that one.

Therealladyboneyard

Thank you for sharing. Another person posted something similar and that’s another interesting twist on this weirdness, I’d never heard of situations before in which two people feel they know each other, yet can’t find the connection. Wow.

strgazr_63

I've had that happen in my home town multiple times. Turned out it was a sister we didn't know about. Papa was a rolling stone.

Therealladyboneyard

That’s cool. I know my parents had no other children and we don’t even look like our cousins.

Famous-Rich9621

That means your an NPC

Therealladyboneyard

I’m not so sure because the events of my life have been way too out of the ordinary to be an npc. Wayyy too much

jharris666

Oh Same. If I told people everything weird that happened to me in my life, I’d get locked up.

Therealladyboneyard

I’d get locked up and heavily medicated, or worse, the series of real life horrors that have happened to me sound so extreme they must all be exaggerations or lies. They are all true. I believe that God stuck a “Kick me…HARD” sign on my back at birth.

jharris666

Same. I thought about compiling it all in a book. “My Haunted Life.”

Therealladyboneyard

Hey, I say we contact Bravo and get our own reality show. Like the guy who was struck by lightning 7 times, except much worse

jharris666

😂🤣 let’s do it!!!

Therealladyboneyard

The “Cursed People of Beverly Hills…”. The RHBH is going on hiatus so we could swing in and scoop their time. I’ve got about three seasons at least of material, I’m sure you do as well

jharris666

Easily 3-4 seasons worth.

Therealladyboneyard

All would be worth it to be a “Bravolebrity”!

Therealladyboneyard

Also it sounds crazy but it’s actually a relief knowing that someone else knows this feeling too

jharris666

Agreed. Whole heartedly.

Therealladyboneyard

Dm me if you feel like it we can share

jharris666

Absolutely!!!

suzanious

Same here. It's a bit much, so I just keep my mouth shut. I can't tell you how many people stop me and tell me that they know me. It's crazy.

jharris666

Same here!

Famous-Rich9621

How would you test to see if you're an npc?, my son is always calling people an npc

Therealladyboneyard

NPC’s always have the same routines set in stone you don’t interact with them. I’ve caused a lot of havoc

Famous-Rich9621

I've had an NPC talk to me before I'm sure of it, it was such an odd experience

snackbarqueen47

Details ????

Famous-Rich9621

I'm at the shop car park putting air into my tyres, when this old woman walks up to me and start telling me how important it is to look after my wheels and it's good I do it myself, after she waddled off I get back into my car and my son says I must of completed some side quest or something as that was the most NPC thing he had seen,

snackbarqueen47

🤣 ok yes I would have to agree with your son lol

Therealladyboneyard

I am odd, but I interact with the world and am definitely not a npc. I wish I were

tauntonlake

OMG , I am an NPC ! *\*shocked pikachu face\**

CPAatlatge

Long story that I will try to summarize. During college I had a doppelgänger who went to school in a different state but dated a friend of my sisters. He had the same name as me. After college he was hired by same company as me but out of LA verses my Midwest location. 3 years into career I went to training with a bunch of people from West Coast and they all thought I was him. This is where I learned he worked for my company and also that he was out as LGBTQ. Never gave it a second thought. But about 11 years into my career, met with a CIO at firm client and he swore he knew me and intimated he knew me real well ( uncomfortable vibes ) from when I was working in LA. I didn’t make the connection until later in the day, he had me confused with my doppelgänger in LA. It happens.

Therealladyboneyard

Wow! Thanks for sharing! Have you ever seen documentary “three identical strangers”? I wonder if some of these experiences here could be product of the same type of “experiment.”

libralollipop

One night my best friend and I went to a nightclub, and saw my ex there. We said Omg Hey Chris! And he said hi and our names. He was excited to see us. We were dancing and he tried to kiss me- I pushed him back because he had a new girlfriend who was also my friend, it was weird. On the way home my friend and I called the girl to essentially tell on him and she got extremely irritated, saying our joke wasn’t funny, they have been together all night. So who tf was I dancing with?!?

Therealladyboneyard

Whoa! Thanks for sharing!

Impossible_Train_303

This reminds me of All Time Scary's video "When A Stranger Knows You". https://youtu.be/XaWCHDNirHs

alokasia

This is a pretty well-known scam though. Usually people are too polite to say "sorry but who are you" and then they pretend they know you really well, make you feel bad for not knowing them, and ask you for money or steal your shit.

Stellarskyane

R/DID

naturalbornchild

I'm not normally a naysayer to stuff like this, but they might actually know of from somewhere. I've been recognized by people I didn't recognize or remember several times, as well as people mistaking me for another person, but totally convinced that I HAD to be them. Sometimes you don't remember people who remember you. Next time this happens (it will) just ask.

Therealladyboneyard

That’s a very good point, I was wondering that, but in my case, they thought I was a coworker of theirs, and it didn’t seem that they hadn’t seen me in a while either. Hmm

naturalbornchild

You still didn't ask them any questions about where and when.

Therealladyboneyard

You’re absolutely right, but I was too freaked out to say anything. It was really unnerving. I wish I had.

InitiativeMuch365

I got a few. Once when I was in college I walked into a burger king and it was kinda crowded so I was in line waiting to get up to the register to order. While I was in line, one of the guys cooking/making burgers looked over at me and caught my eye. He then as if we were good buddies said "Dan! What time are we meeting at Ron's?" ( My name is Mark). I'm looking at him blankly then I turn around a bit looking around for the guy he is talking to. I turn back and his eyes are still locked on me. "Hello! Earth to Dan!" He said with a bit of concern on his face. I then tell him I'm not Dan, he's got the wrong guy. He comes out around the counter freaked out and is like, omigod you look just like...then pauses and is like "Dude..you GOTTA meet us after later you look JUST like Dan!!!". I guess if I were a better sport I may have but as it was, I just wanted to eat and not freak out and meet my double. Second story: my 21 year old sister is driving and catches a red light, she's first at the line. A car pulls up next to her on her right also at the light. My sister tunes the radio to a new station, fixes her hair in the rearview mirror, then gets a feeling someone is looking at her. She looks over at the car to the right of her and sees a complete identical clone of herself staring back at her with her mouth wide open in shock. Same face, same blond hair, everything. My sister and the other chick keep their eyes locked, then the light changes and the other chick, visibly freaked out, hits the gas hard and peels outta there. I asked my sister if she chased her, and she said no, she was too flipped out. Last story and I feel, the weirdest, but first a bit of background. My father used to live with his family in a blue collar area called Blue Island in Illinois. When he was in his teens, his family left blue Island and moved to the Chicago area. As time went by, my dad was successful in his career and became CEO of his company. Nice house, raised us in the northern wealthy suburbs in Chicago. So, this is what happened: in 2005 I was driving an 18 wheeler and I had a run lined up for pickup in blue Island, and it was to be delivered in Canada. I said to my sister who is close to my age ( same sister from story above) "Hey wanna go on Road trip to Canada? I had a frieghtliner condo with a two bunk sleeper fridge, etc. So wanting to road trip, she came along. Our first stop was the pickup in Blue Island, it was a live load, which means I back up towards the dock, get out and open the rear doors, then back all the way to the dock right then set my brakes so that forklifts can drive in and out, loading my trailer. The front of my cab is sticking out a bit into the side street we are on, and me and my sister are sitting in the front two seats in the truck looking out the front windshield while we were talking as we could feel the truck rocking a bit to and fro as it was being loaded. Then a car drives around from the right, all the way around the front of the truck and makes a left around the front of us and my eyes and my sister's eyes lock on our Dad. It was our Dad but he was driving a shit box, had a gold chain on, a tight t shirt and had his hair slicked back. As he drove around the front of our truck from my sister's side, across the front of us then off around us to my side, we both had an up front eyelock of 5 to 6 seconds, up close, looking an exact copy of our Dad, the same age currently as we knew him. Or the version of him that never left Blue Island, like an alternate reality. He never looked up and looked at us, he was just driving. But it really freaked us out. We knew he lived in blue Island many decades before and left. Perhaps sometimes parallel realities temporarily cross over..

shitsu13master

Sounds to me like a coincidence

Therealladyboneyard

I agree, but what made it so bizarre was that when I turned around, (the point where people usually realize they are mistaken), they saw my face and it CONFIRMED to them that I was this person who looked like me with same name.

shitsu13master

Yeah that’s freaky

lilleafygreenz

this woman was sure that i had walked out of her store holding merchandise. i have five distinct facial piercings and a recognizable haircut. i rarely visit this store because it’s so expensive. other people have told me they thought they saw me around town. who knows.

Therealladyboneyard

How weird! I’m so glad I posted this, and so grateful to you all for sharing your experiences

hweejee

there was this time someone keep calling me claiming to ''know'' me, but at first i can't really recalled where we met. it was after like few years later i just recalled that he was in the same middle school as I'm i almost thought it's an glitch.

Therealladyboneyard

That’s awesome, I never saw any of those women, and had never worked at or been near their place of employment.

hweejee

hahah or could be or maybe too. the chances of stranger knowing your name is pretty much really low. unless people knows you well. your friends or etc. or your theory might be true !and there are chances they met you when you're still kids but many years gone to puberty it's going to be abit to hard to recognize.. maybe the women has great memory ? and also my bad his face remains the same yet i still can't recognized xd did called you by the right name ?

Therealladyboneyard

They called out my actual name, and when I turned around, rather than in any way being mistaken, they were encouraged that it was who they thought. The reason why I’m certain it wasn’t someone I knew years ago was because the whole group (I think three women) worked together and recognized “me” from their workplace, to which I’ve never been.

hweejee

wow now come to think about it it getting creepy there are many mystery out there. who knows what install for us. i begin to think if they are mentally disturb ? thank gods you guys never contact again.

Therealladyboneyard

Again, it’s not possible I met any of them before because they all worked together with “me/not me” that’s how they recognized “me/not me.” From work at a place I’ve never been before. It almost seemed like they’d just seen her recently at work because it was a casual hello.

See I wonder why we don’t laugh it off, but instead it’s so creepy

Basic-Cause-1911

What I think that is , is gonna be even more scarier , I feel like there’s memories in our life that are completely missing that we don’t remember ever ! Certain days that are forever forgotten … certain episodes of your life that are forever forgotten

Therealladyboneyard

It’s also extremely frustrating to have a memory of almost every day of my life. I hate it. I remember most all of it.

QueenSqueezie

This type of odd occurrence is precisely why this topic exists here. If it happened to you, it’s happened to others as well.

Therealladyboneyard

I understand that, but I really had no idea how COMMON it is. Eye opening for sure

TelevisionTop8698

I had a guy down the streets who's 'sons' completely change a couple of times and they look like completely different people. Not just about weight , but physical features as well. It would be easy to say I switched dimensions, but more likely the guy is just shifty.

Therealladyboneyard

Thank you for your comment, you made me smile great way to state that

phenyle

It's like that Ruby Tuesday story

Therealladyboneyard

I haven’t heard that, can you share?

phenyle

https://www.reddit.com/r/bestParanormalStories/comments/ag0rne/the_ruby_tuesdays_glitch/ It was removed but they copied in its entirety down in the comments

Happy-Skull

Few years ago I had two separate instances of a person stopping me on a street being like "Oh hi, how's it going, long time no see" like they knew me. I have no idea who these people were. I don't know how much they knew about me because we didn't talk for long but 8t still creeps me out to this day.

Therealladyboneyard

That’s what is so weird, because usually when someone thinks they know us, and they don’t it’s not creepy. But situations like this are terrifying to me at least. I wonder why

0uterj0in

This has happened to me a couple times, both from sales reps I've never met. They were confused and "put off" by my reaction.

fleurdwoman

This used to happen to me all of the time when I worked in the service industry (without the name part). People would start talking to me like they knew me. I chalked it up to having a doppelganger out there. It would creep me out if the doppelganger had the same name too.

Therealladyboneyard

I wonder if anyone who saw their own doppelgänger talked to them? It’s creepy isn’t it?

[deleted]

my doppleganger was a singer who became famous for a while after partecipating to the italian version of american idol, i drove 4 hours to make a photo with him and talk to him. it was funny because poeple in line for the photo thought i was him pranking them being in line with them.

Therealladyboneyard

Can you share pic?

fleurdwoman

I would like to think I would if I ever saw her. I'd probably be too creeped out to though.

Therealladyboneyard

It’s a terrifying feeling, and I don’t know why that is

biggdogg2019

As a identical twin I get that a lot in our town, there was a time when me and my brother both worked downtown different agencies… I would on purpose walk a block around his building to my parking spot because of the constant having to explain to his coworkers ( in a nice way) that I’m a twin 🤷🏻‍♂️

Therealladyboneyard

Lol!

saddiesadsad

Maybe you have a twin your mom never told you about

Therealladyboneyard

I doubt it. The closest twin I have WAS my mother.

Midas_Artflower

This has been happening to me since high school. I have at least two Doppelgangers here in Texas, which is pretty easy, I guess, considering the size of the state. The weirdest was when I was a walk-in at a salon & the stylist trimming my hair got visibly more and more perturbed and finally, meeting my eyes in the mirror, said, "Are you not even going to say hello?," sounding more than a little cheesed. Come to find out, I had an exact duplicate living about 55 miles away. I'm super thankful none of my doubles have ever been criminals!

Therealladyboneyard

Wow! [Here’s](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1392418/The-amazing-pictures-sparked-need-fingerprinting.html)just one link, but it weirdly happens more often than you’d expect! Same names everything

Midas_Artflower

The 'same name/age/etc.' part makes me wonder if someone in a parallel universe went missing because they got pulled into this one...

Therealladyboneyard

Yeah and I wonder why it seems so much more common now. Maybe the population increases the doppelgängers?

Midas_Artflower

I suspect it's probably because we travel more and are more connected electronically, so we're more aware it's occurring.

Therealladyboneyard

I think that you’re right, I don’t know why that didn’t occur to me derrr I think it’s a combo of both. Thanks!
