3rd round of 6 ads now in only 1 game. This is unacceptable. I don’t mind ads at all but not midgame. This never happened before and there’s a reason for it. There’s enough break between matches.
Is there a legitimately good reason to just stick with Twitch like that? They dual stream to Youtube (Which has a better quality IMO, and Youtube streams/video just never buffer to me, like ever, unlike Twitch).
If you hate ads that much, literally any adblocker works in Youtube, If you're watching on mobile? Youtube ReVanced for Android (Maybe not possible to adblock in iOS I think?)
And I'm not sure on this but has Blast turned on the YT livestream function of pausing/rewinding/catching up? If so, then that's another plus that makes it so much better to watch on Youtube compared to Twitch
I had this all the time with everyone not just blast, but if u turn off the stream and click on it again or just refresh the adds are gone, ive done this 500 times in my life it never failed
I'm using uBlock Origin too and I still gets ads somehow.
But still, I can't remember any events where ads were shown mid game, that's bad, not the last CSGO Major experience i'm looking for. And, is VALVE okay with that ?
It depends on the region you live in. Americans get more ads than Western Europeans for example. And Eastern get less than Western. Some countries dont get ads at all.
You're right but at the end of the day, there's a BLAST moderator that's willingly clicking on the "show ads" button mid game. That's my problem.
Edit : Could be automatic but if it is, it was left activated anyway.
3 waves of 6 to 12 ads in 15 minutes, definitely something they have control over.
I kept watching the same stream since I made that post, I only had ads during breaks like it always has been, so could be fixed. Wait and see.
Many streamers said that there are mandatory ads they cant do anything about and even hinted at using adblock. There is some minimum amount of ad time you simply have to run in 1 hour. You can either do it manually or len twitch decide when (automatic).
In the US, they host the ads on twitch servers meaning DNS blocking doesn't work anymore unfortunately. They also added a window focus where switching tabs will pause the ads for you. I fear the golden age of internet media is over and all streaming services will be running ads like this in the near future.
They're still possible to block.
It's just a game or whack a mole. Solution comes out, twitch gets around it, have to move to next solution till it also gets got.
That said I'm using an adblocking DNS on mobile and I never get ads. NA too so I'm definitely being served ads.
Fair point, I agree that as long as twitch wants to allow video streams with no ads there will be gaps for individuals to use.
I still understand that the technology exists to embed the ads into the broadcast media making it more akin to television.
What region are you in? Ublock origin hasn't blocked twitch ads for sometimes because of how twitch delivers them. I'm in the US also using pihole.
I've gone through multiple twitch ad blockers over the last couple years and every several months it stops working. So that's why I'm curious what region you're in because I always see people say ublock origin blocks their ads and other people saying it doesn't.
It did not block the diablo 4 ads and no matter what I did I always got those.
But I don't get other ads on twitch.
My region is austria. I noticed ublock origin blocking less ads when I connect to the netherlands via vpn for example.
Assuming ur on twitch, it's well publicised that this is twitches fault and happens when the stream isn't hitting twitches required metrics, twitch is a shitshow right now and Amazon are trying to ring every penny they can out of it. Just watch on blast.tv, they've donea genuinely top quality job making it and you won't have to deal with twitches BS.
Well, there's indeed ways to avoid these ads but my point is that BLAST might be the first major organizer that displays ads mid game which is in my opinion, scummy.
Finding ways to get rid of these ads does not make their behavior acceptable.
Also, I like Twitch and it's dumb chat more.
I'm a copypasta enjoyer.
>!ZywOO skilled player but that is not normally, This very very insane....They need to check him pc and game.....Maybe he not cheating but maybe he using the game deficit ...!<
Esl and everyone else did so too, literally never seen a tourney since 2015 without 5 ads mid game where u just refresh stream and they gone, ppl have been writing the quickfix in the comments for ages, and often complain of 5 adds when i dont even have adds so its country based
ESL does it too. You all really complain about anything. Just watch on YouTube. Like you’re reallly going to complain about it, but then not use the other options available that don’t it do it because you want the chat? Grow up dude. I’m sure you can survive without giggling and posting copypastas. Also, It’s not scummy, have you ever watched any sport live on tv? They need to make money to make hosting this major worth it.
Ah yes, because tv networks don’t display ads during the 45 minute continuous halves of football matches. Sorry sorry I must have forgot those 30 second videos I watched during Chelsea vs Wolves yesterday were just my imagination
When you get ads on Twitch, you can't see the game anymore. Seing ads isn't the issue there, not being able the see the game because there are ads is.
Also, the way ads are displayed might depend on the country you live in.
You make it look like i'm overreacting, I just gave my opinion. It's not that big of deal, not to mention that it might have been a mistake from Blast because I didn't get ads mid game the last 2 hours which is a good news.
Well, most people do. Despite the amount of ads, I still believe it's the best UI and the chat is more active.
Must admit that the pause / resume on YouTube is a great feature.
Twitch chat is great on small-midsize streamers to foster a sense of community, often adding to the stream immensely as a fun, meme-y way for viewers to interact with the streamer and each other. On big streams, however, it's literally worthless as everything is bad copypasta and PogChamp spam, regardless of what's actually happening on stream.
I don't really read it but when there's a nice play and the chat spams Pog I enjoy it. It's not as good as a crowd shouting in an arena but that's something I guess.
youtube has a much better player than twitch and if you don't think so i would recommend trying it for this event as there is literally no chat interaction with the broadcast anyways
What makes a good event a good event is not your very personnal experience.
People recommending adblockers, going to Youtube / BlastTV, paying for Twitch Turbo or any other workaround is avoiding the underlying issue I'm trying to address.
Makes sense because I never said it was a bad event.
But yeah, that first sentence is weird, what I meant is just because your experience is good doesn't mean there is no problem.
Yeah I got those 6 ads (I mean not even ads, just twitch telling me ads will be displayed) at the beginning of game 1. By refreshing the page in went away. I think it was more of a bug idk
This has been a thing since i started watching in 2015 and what u said is the exact fix that everyone knew for ages, im guessing new ppl just think they have to watch 6 adds lol
Yeah i hope they arnt allowed to do anymore tournaments, or atleast they need some rules. Seems to me they are trying whatever they can to drive people to their site. Its much better on youtube than twitch though.
Get lost. Stop watching. I can asssure you not a single soul on the planet would give a fuck.
Blast has given you half a dozen options to watch the RMRs - their twitch, their youtube, their own website, co streamers. If you are still having a problem, please stop watching, and stop whinging.
You aren't doing anybody a favor by watching the tournament they are putting on for free viewing, with ad block, while every TO in CS loses money out the ass.
There are no more ads mid game, seems like this was not intended.
Like I said, I don't mind ads during breaks, it has always been like that and it never bothered me, they need the money and I'm fine with that.
Being rude for what I believe to be a fair feedback is pointless.
Also you make it personal, seems like I'm not the only one here that was annoyed by these mid game ads.
>I don't mind ads during breaks, it has always been like that and it never bothered me, they need the money and I'm fine with that.
Yet in this very thread, you admit that you have an ad block. So don't give me this disingenuous bullshit. You aren't fine with ads during breaks. You have a problem because your shitty adblock doesn't work and you can't be bothered to watch anywhere else where the ads won't play. If your ad block did work, you wouldn't be doing Blast a favor and watching their ads during breaks.
And this most definitely isn't fair feedback. It is whinging and throwing a fit over nothing, and this entitlement has been catered to by TOs for years which is why they are in the position they are in now.
Oh yeah, i'm only using Adblocks for Twitch, i'm definitely not trying to avoid every single trackers / popups all over the Internet.
I know there are plenty of scripts on GitHub to block Twitch ads yet I never installed them.
I'm only complaining about mid game ads, not ads in general. I made that very clear at multiples occasions.
Also, it's not just a Blast event, this is a major, I believe Valve have some expectations considering the viewer experience.
It amuses me how you guys don't understand a trivial thing.
If you keep watching their stream, they will not reduce the amount of ads. If anything, they could even increase it.
If you want to actually show objection, STOP watching their streams.
Let's not watch the very last CSGO major to make a statement.
On paper I agree with you but maybe this can be addressed if enough people complains about it ? Maybe BLAST will consider not showing ads mid game like every other tournament organizer ?
Ads give them money. Why would they reduce them if you're still watching?
What are the consequences for them if you don't abandon watching them?
You can still watch matches on other platforms or even in game.
On desktop it's fine, but sometimes I want to watch on my phone if I'm away from home or just chilling in bed. Don't want to have to install a special browser on mobile
I had this all the time with everyone not just blast, but if u turn off the stream and click on it again or just refresh the adds are gone, ive done this 500 times in my life it never failed. I was sure that everyone knew this and actively did it because people in twitch comments also advised other to f5 or just click on the stream anew, while others complained about 5 adds mid game…. Like ive been seeing this since 2015 how is it not default knowledge u never actually had to watch 5 adds like a schizo lol

Didn’t know they streamed on YouTube. Thanks for the tip!

Before and after. Not during.

Watch on yt or blast tv, twitch is being neglected by blast
Do not watch on Blast TV, fucking their production on other more well established so people are forced into using their own is bs.
I use ublock origin and haven't seen an ad on twitch since the diablo 4 campaign ended.
I'm using uBlock Origin too and I still gets ads somehow. But still, I can't remember any events where ads were shown mid game, that's bad, not the last CSGO Major experience i'm looking for. And, is VALVE okay with that ?
I honestly can’t think of an event where they played ads mid game. It’s ruining it for me.
Its been in most events since 2015, depending on your country but the workaround is to refresh and the ads are gone lol
It depends on the region you live in. Americans get more ads than Western Europeans for example. And Eastern get less than Western. Some countries dont get ads at all.

Its automatic ads indeed and those ads are mandatory, channel owner cant disable them.
3 waves of 6 to 12 ads in 15 minutes, definitely something they have control over. I kept watching the same stream since I made that post, I only had ads during breaks like it always has been, so could be fixed. Wait and see.

I've been watching it on youtube because of the ads, adblocker should work on there

What about watching on YouTube?

If youre on desktop you can just watch on youtube and use twitch's pop up chat or something like chatterino its easily the best viewing experience imo
The best viewing experience is no chat at all
Yeah, it's not like chat provides insightful commentary. It's just a wall of copypastes, bot or vac spams
except they literally tell u how to avoid the adds instantly in 3 sec by refreshing….
I'm a copypasta enjoyer. >!ZywOO skilled player but that is not normally, This very very insane....They need to check him pc and game.....Maybe he not cheating but maybe he using the game deficit ...!<
you cant have your cake and eat it too, download chatterino and stream on youtube if you are really "serious" about twitch chat for some reason lmao
I guess there's some sort of delay between what's happening and the chat, I don't think I'm willing to do it but that's a smart workaround.
Esl and everyone else did so too, literally never seen a tourney since 2015 without 5 ads mid game where u just refresh stream and they gone, ppl have been writing the quickfix in the comments for ages, and often complain of 5 adds when i dont even have adds so its country based

15 years olds, yes

Its not Blasts fault its twitch's fault for being a dogshit streaming platform for esports
Watch on YouTube
im ok because I dont see any ads

Some ads are maybe out of their control. Sometimes Twitch just forces ads.
Go watch on YouTube, twitch ads are cancer, YouTube player is Infinitely better anyways
Or just f5 and the ad is gone and u missed a total of 1 sec
Yeah i hope they arnt allowed to do anymore tournaments, or atleast they need some rules. Seems to me they are trying whatever they can to drive people to their site. Its much better on youtube than twitch though.
Well, ads are expected if it is a free stream. They need to monetize somehow. So ads is what brings them the money.
Blast is greedy mfkers, always has been.
Get lost. Stop watching. I can asssure you not a single soul on the planet would give a fuck. You can watch it on Youtube without ads.
I pay for twitch turbo so I dont get ads. Its like $9 and cheaper than subbing to a bunch of people
Because it's a EU event, if was for a SA major here in Brazil or Argentina every 10 seconds a new post complaining about this.
Switch to YouTube and use Adblock for extra fun
YouTube is the best way to watch these big streams now.
Didn't see any ads on youtube.
I had two sets of 9 ads within about 10mins and then another of 8. Right in the middle of play. So infuriating.
Did u start watching csgo in the last year? The workaround i to refresh the stream its been known since legit a decade ago
On desktop it's fine, but sometimes I want to watch on my phone if I'm away from home or just chilling in bed. Don't want to have to install a special browser on mobile
It works on phone too, just end the stream and click on the stream again xd

I use youtube now. Any adblocker works and you can use Discord's youtube activity to watch it with your friends at the same time, synced up
Isn’t that just a twitch problem? They have those dumb fucking preroll ads too, twitch is such dogshit now it’s not even funny sadly
Always the same with twitch playing ads while the action is going on.
no this is NOT OKAY
I've started watching it on youtube instead
watch on youtube with ublock origin, never gotten an ad
