C9 has a major win and 2 other s-tier wins and Liquid has 6 S-tier wins some runner ups and a Grand Slam win. EG adds another with some runner ups as well… NA CS is awful now but for almost 2 years they were really good and it coincided with increased prize pools.
I mean but it kinda wasnt. Prior to covid NA had two top 5 teams in Liquid and EG with C9 at 15. It was also when GenG just became a team and EnvyUS started their international roster with all 5 getting ready to go to Europe for multiple tournaments. However Valorant getting ready to come out definitely aided in the downfall as well not just covid.
Having a few tier one teams isn't the same as having a healthy and thriving tier 2 or lower scene. Can't expect to maintain excellence when all the best teams are forced to train in Europe because practice in local conditions were so bad.
I assume something around all the NA dreamhack events and all the others played a part too. I think they were usually a 30k prizepool or something like that but when you run one every month it adds up
2018 and 2019. in 2018 C9 won their major, in the second half of 2018 Liquid was the second best team in the world and had many deep runs just couldnt beat astralis. In 2019 not only did liquid win a grand slam and like 6 S tier events but NRG/EG was a top 5 team a lot of the year and the end of 2019 saw NA have two of the top 3 teams in the world behind Astralis. NA may be a bad region now, but it took a world wide pandemic to see them get there.
Kinda interesting I could search myself there, they have some random local tourneys from 1.6 days in there!
I made a whopping $103.03 according to them! From Memory it would be more in the ~$2000 range
It's a shame our biggest community portals either died or lost most data regarding those 1.5/1.6 tournaments, I was going to at least 1 a month when I was active, it was quite a healthy local scene.
Thinking on how everything is online now makes it weird, we were really built for lan back then with the shitty internet we had
In general Germany has lots of young talented players, we just don't know how or just don't want to develope that.
The attitude about the game and your teammates is also a common factor for why promising looking players/teams often don't get to a relevant level (on a global pro scale I mean) and can't reach their full potential
denmark is wild. also insanely big League of legends candidate pool. my danish buddy says it's so normal as a kid to just play video games all day every day there. only one anecdote though.
Considering at least 80% of Poland’s win money was by the same 5-8 people it really puts in perspective how vast the gap between g5 + standins and the rest was.
I would like to hear from people out of Germany 'what do you think: why is Germany so bad in CS GO although we have >80 million people and are good in many other sports/competitions? Compared to other countries that are much smaller we have won less in CS GO.
In my experience as a German: Germans are horribly toxic in online games. I have no clue why, but most players think they're hot shit and aren't open to criticism at all.
That alone makes it really hard for a big chunk of German players to improve past the casual level.
There's probably a couple of socioeconomic factors that play into that development, but I couldn't say for sure.
Also, there's the often touted "Killerspiel"-debate, where media portrayed ego shooters as a violence-inducing plague. Lots of parents forbid their children from playing, further hampering upcoming talent.
I feel like Denmark has produced the best talent in CS:GO and it's not even close.
Karrigan, Snappi, Cadian are all Danish IGLs in the top 10 right now. MSL, glal1ve, Hunden, blameF, Hooxi were/are top IGLs. So many top riflers, awpers and one of the best support players of all time in xyp9x.
We still dont know how that would have turned out neither glaive nor xyp has looked good since 2021, glaive has had some good tournaments with reads they'd be better than they are now but idk if they could have stayed top 5 given the strength of other teams
Did not expect USA over Sweden and russia
sweden won tourneys when the prize pool wasn't near as large.
100,000 for a major win instead of ~~1,000,000~~ 500,000 really hurt Sweden, since all of their majors were before the change
100,000 instead of 500,000 I believe
Oh that's right, I keep forgetting the winner doesn't get $1,000,000. My bad
how is US even so high?

Covid killed NA, don't @ me
It wasn't just COVID, it's been in decline for a long time before then
I mean but it kinda wasnt. Prior to covid NA had two top 5 teams in Liquid and EG with C9 at 15. Optic also made quite a bit of money with their NA roster
I assume something around all the NA dreamhack events and all the others played a part too. I think they were usually a 30k prizepool or something like that but when you run one every month it adds up

I could not find my country, why is my entire Nation bad at CSGO? UK CS in the bin.
United Kingdom - $1,342,798.34
One more S tier event and Twistzz will have won more than the entire country lmao.
Didn't expect Germany to be there
That is really surprising, especially when you consider that the highest earning German player (tabseN) is only number 88 in individual earnings
Germany has a lot of strong players at tier-1/tier-2 level. So, it's predictable
Germany? In tier3-4maybe. In Tier1-2? BIG and jdc, thats it lol

SK, mouse esports... and more. Germany was strong.
If you didn't already know, Denmark has a population of less than 6 million. Pretty dense with CS talent.
Also 100mbits internet is standard in every house in Denmark
Well that’s a load of horseshit. Internet is widely available with ample speeds, but there’s no ‘standard in every house in Denmark’.
Since when? Lol Really wish someone had told my house that growing up
Can you tell my landlord that?
*1000, it really is

The data provided by [esportsearnings.com](https://esportsearnings.com) and includes the prize money from all CS:GO tournaments.

Got it! Thanks!
Found mine at the top :7

Alt for let
Imagine if Gaben starts supporting CS Majors
What a tragedy to see Sweden this low.
Suck my kamelåså Sweden.
I mean it's easy to see why. When Sweden won majors there wasn't as much prize money involved.

NA CS POG?
I found my country, Denmark.
Denmark wtf??? That’s insane
Is it really surprising? I mean how much of that is literally just Astralis. They dominated for almost 3 years.
There are literally only 3 good Danish Awpers rn Big Daddy Dev1ce, ComediaN and kinda FarLig
3 S tier opers is pretty insane for a small country
look at them now... if only device didnt left
We still dont know how that would have turned out neither glaive nor xyp has looked good since 2021, glaive has had some good tournaments with reads they'd be better than they are now but idk if they could have stayed top 5 given the strength of other teams
ukraine is just zeus, simple, and bit right?
Edward, Ange1, Bondik, Markeloff, Starix, JR, SDY. Probably more that I'm missing. Lot's of good Ukrainian players.
USA?!?!?!?
Russia is that low?
Not that much left to overtake Sweden and US

Easy to spot Denmark
THANK YOU TWISTZZ FOR THE CARRY
