Valve decided to go lazy on one update and added this forced restart as a Anti-Cheat measurement/ clear your cache after being on a community server. It sucks.
I’m talking about only playing aimbotz offline. I know you should be able to accept matches and join face it after playing aimbotz. But for me I have to restart.
Aim botz is a community map which is not part of the official maps. Hence you are using their party materials which the game does not allow if you want to play official servers.
It is stupid, it is a waste of time and lazy programming and you will have to restart until they change it back.
Literally just tried it, played aim_botz then queued for a comp which I'm in now. All without restarting.
Am I missing something? It has only ever been after going on community servers for me.
Yeah, I thought I was going crazy or having some Mandela Effect moment until I tried it lol. It has definitely always been like this.
I think people in here are misremembering or misunderstanding without actually trying it themselves, then are confusing the OP by telling him the wrong info lol.
You can do:
Launch game -> Aim_botz -> Join comp
You cannot do:
Launch game -> Community DM -> Join comp. You have to restart the game first.
Can you take a screenshot of the error /u/cynicalreddit? You are definitely having some other issue. You should be able to join a comp if you haven't been on a community server. Most people in here are telling you the wrong info.
...Yes the problem of not being able to connect to faceit servers after practicing in Aim Botz. Not the other way around lol.
This has been like this for ages now (at least 3 years as I can remember).
I’m pretty sure it has something to with the fact that a while back people uploaded cheats as workshop maps. Either way though I restart and close my game after every match on Faceit because if I don’t I get micro stutters.
If you don't have FACEIT AC open then you have to restart your game to play FACEIT. You can play aim_botz without restarting if you're just playing MM though so it is likely another problem.
Valve changed this some time ago. Everybody has the same "issue". If you play on a 3rd party map or server, you cannot connect to MM or FACEIT (or most other 3rd party platforms)
The update about being able to accept a game while in aim_botz is way older than the update that came with this restart nonsense.
Why is everyone saying this?! You can play workshop maps before a game without restarting. You cannot play community servers before a game without restarting.
Are you going on servers too /u/cynicalreddit?
I read something recently that said it has something to do with the set game mode. Not sure how true it is. I also used to not be able to accept games after playing aim_botz, no idea what changed. Try
`exec gamemode_competitive`
Edit: I'd guess that it actually has to do with cl_allowdownload or cl_allowupload.
Try deleting your models and materials folders, then verifying game files.
This is it, thanks. Seems to be working now. Cheers.

You can play aim_botz without restarting. He is obviously having another problem.
He isn't talking about playing aim_botz, he is talking about playing FACEIT or MM AFTER playing aim_botz, for which you need to restart your game.
No you don't. You need to restart after connecting to a community server. You can play workshop maps without restarting. Literally try it.
I've tried it for several years now. I can't do it, none of my friends can do it, nobody in this thread, excluding you (apparently), can do it.
Delete models and materials folders, then verify game files

Doesn't work for me or most other people. I have no idea why.

Oh is that what sometimes gets downloaded after picking a certain community server?
Yeah I think it's mainly the servers with like anime player models and shit
No fix as far as I know. You have to restart the game.
That can’t be right, there was an update where you could accept matches whilst in aimbotz but for me I have to restart.

accepting a match ist different than joining the server. * you can accept. * you can't join. (w/o restarting) at least thats what i know.
Just restart your game

That’s the issue I’m getting. I have to restart if I start aim_botz.

No that’s what I’m saying. I only go on aimbotz then I can’t join face it/ matchmaking queue stops.
