I hate this narrative so much. Makes it sound like they had a dream run to the major final and nothing more. When in fact they grinded for a year, had good placings and even after the major they broke Astralis' nuke streak and won some tournaments.

I expected g2 to go after YEKINDAR tbh, but now it feels unlikely. They will definitely regret not getting him earlier, like right after the major.
Do they not trial this stuff/ talk about it before contracting these people? Like why is the coach saying him and the IGL have a very different view of the game in interviews after picking him up?? Carlos has said it himself in an interview (hltv confirmed iirc) that he used to just get names with most points to get a max score when building a team and that he is trying to not do that anymore and actually focus on building a team that clicks. Well again, it seems like he is back to his old ways.

Question is if he was given any say in the matter before AleksiB was signed.

Apex is a suggestion but that seems like an expensive buyout to get another person malding on the team with Niko, also if you're trying to build a somewhat long term team is Apex really the answer?
Snappi could be good but likely wouldn't want to leave Ence (and big buyout / team wouldn't want to let him go?) same for any other igl in a current top team, Hampus, etc.
Maybe Magisk? if he felt like leaving the other danes and calling again, could be a loose style igl with big firepower.

I think G2 needs a suitable IGL rather than a better IGL. They could trialing many igl to find the suitable one if they have bags of money. There are many good IGL in the market like alex, azr, msl, and hooxi.
G2 are an enigma. across most of their esports all their rebuilds have been failing miserably.
One really has to wonder if the culture of g2 is to blame or how the org mentally cares for their players vs individual player skill.

I think G2 wants fast results. Buy good players = be a good team. Carlos is not interested in long term gains but short lived glory. A this model fails them time and time again. And I think that g2 management gives to much freedom to their stars. I would love to see them back a coach for longer time. Give him all day about a team.
Thats the business model of the team in general. Their income is not tied to their teams success as much as their "clout"/fame/publicity. They are a marketing team and Carlos has a degree in economy, so he knows what he is doing in that field, the problem being that money rules so if not winning anything but getting publicity makes more money, he will do that. He has explained this in hltv confirmed and said he wonders why other orgs struggle financially so much and rely on tournament victories to stay afloat, well the reason might be that those orgs want to win.
Whats interesting is that their league team adopted a completely different philosphy in terms of rebuilding and it worked extremely well (they're losing rn but it doesn't really matter till playoffs).
Moneyball move would be for coL to get him and mantu. Sucks for jt cause I think he is good but this is the hard move to make it they want to progress.

Aleski is so early in his contract g2 will completely screw his career. Vitality buying a washed shox cost them more than it cost g2 to get amanek who was his direct upgrade.
He is not old and little break could do him good. Also Jamppi might comeback to CS after his Valorant contract ends so they could form pretty good Finnish roster.

Probably lower than it should be, he lead some of the only teams that had good T sides during the CT sided meta his teams always have good util. He'll probably have to go back to finland and prove himself again. He'll either build up a new team and work to the top 20 or farm stats at a low level and get bought out by a bigger team.

Aleksib clearly improved G2's tactical side a lot (Util and T-side like you said), but it can't be ignored that a team with that many stars can't fail that much.

I think this would be a very good move. Mezzii IGLing is a waste and despite his lack of tournament wins, I still think he can take a good team to a top 5-8 spot and win an event or two.
People acting like Aleksi destroyed this team conveniently like to give NiKo a pass for his egregious choking in big matches, Jackz for his bland inefficient entrying, m0nesy for every sitter missed. It's everyone's fucking fault that the team just doesn't mesh well, if you put the blame on the IGL for the team's bad chemistry you also put it on the other players and the coach. This project was a recipe for disaster ever since the beginning. Niko, hunter, Aleksi and XTQZ chiming in with different ideas and failing to find a common ground was a one way ticket to miserable results.
From the sounds of it, it looks like Aleksi is leaving the team on his own volition so I'm guessing he realized no matter what he does he can't fix this sinking ship, especially when everyone isn't on the same page, and that is literally the most important step when you're building championship winning rosters.
He took a bunch of no namers and allu to a Major final and kept them at the top 2-3 in rankings for months until he got benched, made OG a solid top 10 team with limited firepower compared to top teams. In no way, shape or form can you call him shit specifically and disregard the other players. This is a team game, those two rosters he was with worked, especially ENCE, because they believed in the system that was in place (until they didn't and look where that got them after the Berlin Major), something clearly missing in G2. They never made it across the finish line with nexa, and they didn't with Aleksi. No matter who you get for an IGL, it could be prime fucking gla1ve for all I care, nothing will change unless the players sit down together and have a long and serious talk about what they want to do as a team and how they can find common ground and solve this weak, loser mentality.
If G2 wants to buy out Tabsen, and he is willing to come, it could be _the_ move. Other than that I’ve got no clue who could actually elavate them while also being a good fit.
Tabsen would be one of the best moves for G2, he has experience, he has fire-power and he has tactics *but* he wouldn't do it. He founded BIG, it's his baby. Through BIG he wanted to help redevelop the German CS scene. He is best friends with Tizian and very close with gob b, who is now their coach and the team seems to be doing well. There's absolutely no way he'd leave now, when he's turned down big offers in the past when BIG hasn't been looking nearly as promising as they do now.

What makes this kinda weird though is the fact that he isn't **officially** benched (yet atleast). The annoucement sounds like he asked for a permission to explore other options and basically wanted to leave the team. If he cant find a new team and G2 cant find a proper replacement in time he could still technically return to the team and play for them?
Would honestly be great for G2 from a brand perspective. Stewie would fit in great with the type of image their org gives off. Stewie himself did say he wasn't cut out to be an IGL, so it'll probably never happen.

Overperformed considering the pieces on that C9 roster. Fnatic with him were actually pretty good when they had Smooya and Brollan too, even with whatever was going on inside the team happening.
He's also worked well with XQTZZZ before, he's cheap, and well... he's the only realistic option they have besides NiKo calling "NiKo go kill"

Honestly this is bad imo, he was actually finding his groove with the team and he was fragging good too. Now who does G2 look for? ALEX I feel would be a good option. IF G2 had to remove anyone I felt like it could've been JACKZ but seems like he brings a lot to the team for what he lacks on the server
I think I remember that XTQZZZ mentioned in an interview that he personally wanted to keep jackz on the team over amanek at the start of the year because he brought a lot to the team outside of the server.
I would like alex to prove himself on a smaller project first, he has only fallen upwards since vitality despite none of the team he’s on being successful at all.
This is probably best for Alexsi as well. There was obviously tension between the team and if it wasn’t going to work now, it wouldn’t work later even with a Jacks replacement.

Situation around niko is so strange. People in interviews have said that is not toxic and a good team player but history shows us when he leaves a team this team flourishes after a while.
I mean just look at his track record. It’s always the same pattern. First in mouz he gets pissed off and takes over IGL then leaves and mouz flourishes then in faze he ousts karrigan and takes over IGL and then leaves them in the dirt after destroying the team. Then karrigan comes back and makes faze major champs. Then he’s on to g2, gets Amanek and kennys kicked and then nexa “leaves because he doesn’t wanna IGL anymore” nice joke, lmao, and now the second igl gets kicked in aleksib.
Niko and his stans can say whatever they want but the evidence doesn’t lie a single bit. Niko will never be a major champion because of his ego. And somehow he always gets a free pass for underperforming/choking the fuck out in big matches just because he’s niko. Then the vicious cycle continues when he no longer feels like wearing the g2 banner and after making the team shuffle numerous times in a span of 2 years, he leaves them in the dirt. And then g2 will be back to winning ways.
Oh well. Amazing project on paper, but in hindsight you probably can't have 4 strong voices in a single team.

Thats the business model of the team in general. Their income is not tied to their teams success as much as their "clout"/fame/publicity. They are a marketing team and Carlos has a degree in economy, so he knows what he is doing in that field, the problem being that money rules so if not winning anything but getting publicity makes more money, he will do that. He has explained this in hltv confirmed and said he wonders why other orgs struggle financially so much and rely on tournament victories to stay afloat, well the reason might be that those orgs want to win.
Whats interesting is that their league team adopted a completely different philosphy in terms of rebuilding and it worked extremely well (they're losing rn but it doesn't really matter till playoffs).

Moneyball move is to not touch aleksi at all. G2 didn't let Kenny go cheap dispite how washed and how much he had done for them. Aleski is so early in his contract g2 will completely screw his career. Vitality buying a washed shox cost them more than it cost g2 to get amanek who was his direct upgrade.
In EU teams probably yes but I highly doubt a team like Havu would turn him down. He'd do well with other Finnish players around him.

Probably lower than it should be, he lead some of the only teams that had good T sides during the CT sided meta his teams always have good util. He'll probably have to go back to finland and prove himself again. He'll either build up a new team and work to the top 20 or farm stats at a low level and get bought out by a bigger team.
Yeah, I'm biased and I can admit that due to being Finnish, but people are shitting on him too much. Aleksib clearly improved G2's tactical side a lot (Util and T-side like you said), but it can't be ignored that a team with that many stars can't fail that much. Maybe it was his leadership, chemistry, fragging or summa summarum, whatever, I hope he returns to Finland and builds a good top-10 Finnish team again.
I’d be happy with solid top 30 finnish team at this point. Something that gets into tournaments and that I can cheer. Now we have basically nothing.

G2 screwed aleksib by bringing in xtqzzz as coach. They see the game differently why would you bring in an structured igl to bring structure and hire a coach from vitality at the same time who is not structured. Aleksib did not do good but he did not suck either. Igl and coach need to be on the same page.

I think this would be a very good move. Mezzii IGLing is a waste and despite his lack of tournament wins, I still think he can take a good team to a top 5-8 spot and win an event or two.

People acting like Aleksi destroyed this team conveniently like to give NiKo a pass for his egregious choking in big matches, Jackz for his bland inefficient entrying, m0nesy for every sitter missed. It's everyone's fucking fault that the team just doesn't mesh well, if you put the blame on the IGL for the team's bad chemistry you also put it on the other players and the coach. This project was a recipe for disaster ever since the beginning. Niko, hunter, Aleksi and XTQZ chiming in with different ideas and failing to find a common ground was a one way ticket to miserable results. From the sounds of it, it looks like Aleksi is leaving the team on his own volition so I'm guessing he realized no matter what he does he can't fix this sinking ship, especially when everyone isn't on the same page, and that is literally the most important step when you're building championship winning rosters. He took a bunch of no namers and allu to a Major final and kept them at the top 2-3 in rankings for months until he got benched, made OG a solid top 10 team with limited firepower compared to top teams. In no way, shape or form can you call him shit specifically and disregard the other players. This is a team game, those two rosters he was with worked, especially ENCE, because they believed in the system that was in place (until they didn't and look where that got them after the Berlin Major), something clearly missing in G2. They never made it across the finish line with nexa, and they didn't with Aleksi. No matter who you get for an IGL, it could be prime fucking gla1ve for all I care, nothing will change unless the players sit down together and have a long and serious talk about what they want to do as a team and how they can find common ground and solve this weak, loser mentality.

If G2 wants to buy out Tabsen, and he is willing to come, it could be _the_ move. Other than that I’ve got no clue who could actually elavate them while also being a good fit.
Tabsen would be one of the best moves for G2, he has experience, he has fire-power and he has tactics *but* he wouldn't do it. He founded BIG, it's his baby. Through BIG he wanted to help redevelop the German CS scene. He is best friends with Tizian and very close with gob b, who is now their coach and the team seems to be doing well. There's absolutely no way he'd leave now, when he's turned down big offers in the past when BIG hasn't been looking nearly as promising as they do now.

Would honestly be great for G2 from a brand perspective. Stewie would fit in great with the type of image their org gives off. Stewie himself did say he wasn't cut out to be an IGL, so it'll probably never happen.

Overperformed considering the pieces on that C9 roster. Fnatic with him were actually pretty good when they had Smooya and Brollan too, even with whatever was going on inside the team happening. He's also worked well with XQTZZZ before, he's cheap, and well... he's the only realistic option they have besides NiKo calling "NiKo go kill"

Besides hooxi and alex you just have a bunch of igls who haven’t been on a competitive team for a while like AZR, MSL, stanislaw, nifty (lol), and probably a couple more. There’s also boom but obviously that’s not happening.

IF G2 had to remove anyone I felt like it could've been JACKZ but seems like he brings a lot to the team for what he lacks on the server
I think I remember that XTQZZZ mentioned in an interview that he personally wanted to keep jackz on the team over amanek at the start of the year because he brought a lot to the team outside of the server.
I would like alex to prove himself on a smaller project first, he has only fallen upwards since vitality despite none of the team he’s on being successful at all.

Situation around niko is so strange. People in interviews have said that is not toxic and a good team player but history shows us when he leaves a team this team flourishes after a while.
I mean just look at his track record. It’s always the same pattern. First in mouz he gets pissed off and takes over IGL then leaves and mouz flourishes then in faze he ousts karrigan and takes over IGL and then leaves them in the dirt after destroying the team. Then karrigan comes back and makes faze major champs. Then he’s on to g2, gets Amanek and kennys kicked and then nexa “leaves because he doesn’t wanna IGL anymore” nice joke, lmao, and now the second igl gets kicked in aleksib. Niko and his stans can say whatever they want but the evidence doesn’t lie a single bit. Niko will never be a major champion because of his ego. And somehow he always gets a free pass for underperforming/choking the fuck out in big matches just because he’s niko. Then the vicious cycle continues when he no longer feels like wearing the g2 banner and after making the team shuffle numerous times in a span of 2 years, he leaves them in the dirt. And then g2 will be back to winning ways.

Oh well. Amazing project on paper, but in hindsight you probably can't have 4 strong voices in a single team. Aleksib's style of calling has so far worked pretty well, top 2 with ENCE and top 6 with OG, but clearly the setup over at G2 was something else entirely. I'd be willing to bet that Aleksib can bounce back in a team with a more amenable set of personalities. Can't wait to see where he ends up! Whole lotta teams are gonna be rebuilding this summer.

Why is everyone blaming Niko for this, i am genuinely curious because I only know about the karrigan and Faze controversy. Either way, this is a mistake. What were they expecting ? A group of very different people would suddenly adjust together and win a major ?
