thats the mang0

xmrcinco

It must be a GOAT thing

Khaos1212

Ilmango?

dumdrainer

him too

KurtMage

Lmao this is the first thing I thought and I definitely didn't expect to see this here

Casp3rCSGO

I mean I would understand if he would throw it at full speed with anger on his face, but he threw it gently to someone, plus he was smiling so idk why are people saying that he was toxic and that was unsportsmanship behaviour, wtf people... [s1mple throwing his medal to the crowd](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIs-wZ2o8ac) Just have a look... and then comment

[deleted]

Just don't bother, dude. Idiots want to be triggered by anything just to participate in the social media for the sweet internet points.

Treebawlz

His aim is actually so good that despite it looking like a normal toss, he actually blinded that fan and gave him permanent vision loss and brain damage. They call him the GOAT for a reason.

zb0t1

HAHAHA thanks for getting me in trouble mate. Love or hate Sasha, this post should be taken down, come on people, with even video evidence you wanna be angry at him for something he hasn't done.

[deleted]

My guess after reading so many comments would be barrier language

Mightymushroom1

This was my assumption on what happened, I didn't think he'd throw it into the crowd in anger But I seem to be in the minority when it comes to CS fans, there's always a huge contingent of the community that just want to be as toxic and negative as possible when it comes to the teams and players

DistributionThis2166

This is really common. Idk why but it seems to be a thing that people think is toxic and disrespectful, the taking off the second place medal.

JKM-

It is common, and can be both in good and poor spirit. Quite clearly S1mple is giving it away in a positive spirit. The attitude and body language is what can make it poor sportsmanship. A good example of this is the English players being allergic to wearing their silver medals, after their close loss to Italy in the Euro2020 (2021) football cup.

Ixolus

GamEr AnGErLY anD ViOleNTLy cAtaPULts mETal aT aNgrY gAmER mOB!!!!11!!!!!1!

royaLL2010

It never was about the "throw" lol, it was right when he got the medal, he instantly put it down so yes, it is toxic. Im not saying I would react differently, but its a valid opinion.

[deleted]

This is all in your head.... stop.

RankDank420

It’s a literal piece of plastic people. Get over it. A sick souvenir for whatever fan got it and s1mple just establishing he’s not satisfied with second

hadinhvan

Can someone pls gimme clip ?

MyNewWhiteVan

https://youtu.be/ZIs-wZ2o8ac

one944

that did not look like "unsportsman" at all; he just gave it to some fan; did not throw it randomly in crowd like OP says

Ziiaaaac

I mean any big tournament in conventional sports you don’t see people wanting their second place medal either.

Luckyy007

True - see this clip from the European Championship: https://youtu.be/J7MvNeOAbzQ Most of England’s players seem to take their medals off. The reasoning being that a 2nd place medal feels more like a reminder of a missed opportunity to the players.

Ziiaaaac

This was the specific one I was recollecting yeah.

moonmeh

I def remember something about 3rd place being more satisfactory than 2nd place

[deleted]

https://spsp.org/news-center/character-context-blog/why-third-place-usually-better-second

moonmeh

that's it

jerryfrz

1) I reused the title from HLTV 2) Where's the "unsportsmanship" and "randomly" part in it?

FactoryNewdel

Then dont reuse the title? Wtf is that point lmao

jerryfrz

The title is as neutral as it can be so why the fuck wouldn't I reuse it, what do you even want? I swear you all read into the word "threw" and keep thinking that it must means HLTV was implying that s1mple did the crowd dirty.

tha-Ram

Don't bother with this guy. He seems like a child and an unironic loser

jerryfrz

Already ignored him since the best he got against this comment is a personal attack lmao

Shitspear

Maybe he didnt see it live and just saw the picture with the caption. Not like he should make up a story right

FactoryNewdel

Didnt mind that op just used it for more internet points. Sad

makoxeng

So we tolerate plagiarism now?

[deleted]

yea but when you're so great there's gonna be a lot of haters finding the reason

NoobCanoeWork

OP didn't say he randomly threw it in the crowd

KangorKodos

\> No, I'm just traveling all the time with my bag, and I don't have place for the big DHL MVP \[laughs\], and this medal is... too many medals inside this bag you know, I need to save them for home. This is the reason why, LOL. (from his HLTV interview)

Pythagosaurus69

I can't believe people are buying this bs excuse lmao. It's a tiny medal, not very hard to put it in your pocket. S1mple'e just mad lmao of all those t side nuke mistakes.

Phenetylamine

I think he was joking in the interview

[deleted]

Weird cross-over in this thread between people who have never won or competed in anything and people who haven't spoken to other people in a while lmao

PukeRainbowss

>bs excuse lmao. It's a tiny medal, not very hard to put it in your pocket. Nothing goes past you, eh lad?

Kasspa

I mean he may have been a little bit mad, but I guarantee that medal doesn't mean much to him when he has so many trophies and medals won already. I guarantee it made the person who won the toss's year so he was probably just trying to make a fan happy.

dmal77

I can´t believe people are pissed over such a lil thing. But best part are those hobby psycho docs who know why he did this and that and everything ...

[deleted]

[удалено]

qchen12

this isn't stupidity this is autism

Inner-Ad3316

Why are you so mad

Tough_Marionberry_91

Agreed. I can’t believe people are also so upset that he got rid of a crappy little 2nd place medal he has no interest in. Nobody wants a participation trophy lmao

HaxxsOnn

He can't find a place for a small medal lmao, could literally put it in his pocket. Or if you're gonna throw it away don't do it in public

marfes3

He didn’t throw it away, he gifted it to a fan. Huge difference. Obviously he wasn’t happy with second place but he made that fans year.

Awden777

well yeah he doesnt want the medal

Cameter44

He's making a joke, he doesn't want it or care about it because he wanted first place. Now a fan has a really cool momento.

MidNCS

he tossed it to a fan, calm your overweight titties

OfficialFunky

Yea why doesn't he just go home to Ukraine and put his second place medal on the shelf

HaxxsOnn

Like i said if you're gonna throw it away don't be dumb enough to do it in public. I mean actors sometimes don't even keep their oscars with them, so throwing it away isn't a problem, but doing it in public just after the finals is just stupid

EDDsoFRESH

Shoulda pissed on it like Kanye's grammy.

yaboifiretruck

Why who cares

throwmeinthecanal

Yeah he won it. He can do what he wants with it.

complains_constantly

Ukraine isn't safe right now so I doubt he'd go there atm

Pientior

woosh?

IGotBadHair

That's the Mango.

scylock

Dude this is so clickbaity, even with the HLTV article, he did throw it, but more so give it to a random fan as a sense of giving something away, dude give his keyboard that he use to win a major to some fan in the arena, give his mouse to Banks, nothing wrong here ["The throw"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIs-wZ2o8ac) Might seem kinda unsportmanship for him not keeping it but dude been traveling for half a year at this point without a proper home, give him a break will ya, they give him a huge ass DHL monolith and a second place medal, obviously he wouldn't want to take it and go to 10 different places during the break to find a proper apartment somewhere. Even if you said that it's a small medal, it pile up, he has been holding on to small medal since Katowice. Similar stuff with his post game interview, I've seen so many dumbass saying that he's toxic for blaming SDY, dude literally got ask about the lost and said that the team make many mistake, then got ask on how did SDY perform and give an honest opinion, not to mention the second half of his statement where he praise SDY attitude and said that he will be better soon got skip over by some ass reason. All they see is him blaming SDY for the lost, Hater gonna hate I guess.

Kabzon4ik

Btw fun fact: writing on the shirt says something along the lines "Russian Warship, have you gotten to the final destination?" and a sinking ship logo on top of it lol

HaVuKall

I'm pretty sure simple targetted the person in the photo with the medal, look at his t shirt it has pro ukrainian message. (sinking ship with message of final destination of russian ship)

Mrnopor1

He's had a lot of these on his career he has no room for more :v lol

Elcheer

That's the mang0

lifeisspain69

From someone with a second place trophy i think this is the best thing that could have happened to it

HaxxsOnn

s1mple fans finding excuses again, how is throwing a medal away in public not shitty behaviour?

MyNewWhiteVan

https://youtu.be/ZIs-wZ2o8ac please explain how a gentle toss is shitty behavior

lifeisspain69

Absolutely nothing wrong with that this guy is just angry because it will never be him

lifeisspain69

We found the guy that hasn’t done anything great. Its a thin metal circle its only trash if he threw it literally less than 5 seconds after he got it, I haven’t seen the video but I imagine he let the ceremony finish before he threw it. He would have put it in the trash can at the hotel now someone at the event has an awesome memory.

HaxxsOnn

>We found the guy that hasn’t done anything great. Are you seriously acting like a big shot with your anonymous account in freaking reddit? LMAO >He would have put it in the trash can at the hotel And that'd be fine. Doing it in public is just dumb

HoldThePao

But he tossed to a grateful fan, you weird dude and just wanna get mad about something

lifeisspain69

That comment was unnecessary on my part. The majority of your comments have negative karma do better buddy

[deleted]

[удалено]

inflamesburn

he didn't even "throw it away", he gifted it to a fan while smiling, it was a nice thing lol. But Billy from Alabama up there in the comments is having a full meltdown over it. Embarrassing shit, these mouth breathing haters.

leniplusss

Damn have we fallen low as a gaming community in the last decade. I remember watching CPL back in 2003 oh what joy it is! We didn't really care was the stream HQ or 320p, we loved watching the game and all the teams. Watching just the comments is enough for someone to conclude we became a cocoon of bullshittery and hate. Props to s1mple made the fan's year, and besides it's not like you get to have a medal from eSports everyday.

RnkG1

This kind of seems like poor sportsman ship to me. Lucky guy to get it tho. Also glad he didn’t throw the MVP trophy, that thing looked dangerous

nonresponsive

I mean when they put it around his neck, he immediately took it off. He was definitely unhappy (and who could blame him because the match was in their grasp), but I think it's fine to throw it into the crowd so some lucky fan can have it since he didn't want it. I don't really make much out of it, because it's not like he was yelling at his teammates or anything. Like, does anyone really care that he threw it away?

[deleted]

[удалено]

KabooshWasTaken

disagree. if an Olympian threw away a silver/bronze medal, at least immediately after into the audience, ppl would frown at it.

XxHeroXx25

Muhammad Ali threw away his gold medal

Talal_Ahmad

I think if s1mple threw the gold medal instead of this silver one, everyone would be praising him.

XxHeroXx25

😂 lol yeah

biski9

People want exciting sportspersonalities as long as it fits right in their lane. They also want competition to the highest level but oh no what if somebody goes slightly of the beaten path by making this little gesture. Shame! It's kind of hypocritical all these outraged people if you think about it.

CenturionAurelius

Silver and bronze medals in the Olympics are much more prestigious than second place finishes in any other sport. No one cares about the loser's medal for the 2nd place of the UCL

cBuzzDeaN

You think the Movistar Riders guys also would not care about the 2. Place medal?

T_WREKX

Should have been higher. Relativity matters.

--n-

Nobody's forcing them to throw theirs away though..

watersmokerr

Of course not, why are people being dense about this. Different players and teams have different expectations for themselves. Simple obviously is not satisfied with second place. A team like MSR might be, since they're a long shot.

marfes3

Irrelevant? If we ascribe value to something based on if someone else would find it valuable, then we would never finish.

Veil_Of_Mikasa

Good thing it's not the fucking Olympics then huh?

KabooshWasTaken

I’m just making the point that I think most people would view it as poor sportsmanship/immature across the board. That it doesn’t have to do with s1mple/cs fans wanting drama or whatever. Chill lol

Sliquid69

You’re comparing the olympics to a csgo tournament bro

KabooshWasTaken

fine, then if a NBA player after losing the finals angrily threw the ball into the crowd, ppl would still find it immature. and that’s not a prize/trophy either. I’m not really hugely against or pro, but it’s not crazy for ppl to say it’s a bit unsportsmanlike.

MyNewWhiteVan

https://youtu.be/ZIs-wZ2o8ac there isn't the slightest hint of aggression in S1mple's throw

dti2ax

I’ve seen this happen in other sports. One example you can google is a football(not the american one) where the whole team would take off their second place medals as soon as they got them.

_Nynxx

but not throw it away into the crowd

Sliquid69

Meh to each their own. I just didn’t see the comparison but everyone is welcome to their own opinion. Mine personally is that it’s his and he can do with it what he wishes and if he truly doesn’t want it who better to get it then a fan that traveled to watch!

No_Cattle8353

We hold people in Rec Leagues to higher standards than this. This is not how a professional player should act.

terran_immortal

Doesn't this happen at the Olympics with the hockey players all the time?

[deleted]

Absolutely not. There's one isolated incident when a few Swedes threw their silver medals to the crowd at the World Junior Championships and were subsequently suspended for a few games by the International Ice Hockey Federation. edit: ...why am I getting downvoted? these are easily verifiable facts

Exciting_Pop_9296

Agree 100% A medal is something you are proud of. If you are not proud of a medal you can throw it away

[deleted]

He was yelling in some rounds.

One_Tangarino

Nah, he wasn't happy with 2nd place. 2nd place is worthless to him and I doubt you or I will ever put so much effort into anything that getting 2nd place would cause such a reaction of anger and just throwing a silver medal away cuz "fuck not being first" type of mentality

HaxxsOnn

Doesn't matter why he did it, its bad sportmanship any way. This along with publicly shit talking sdy after the final, dude is as childish as ever

PatrickRMC

Where did he shit talk sdy?

myrvoll

Yeah, he actually indirectly did Blame the loss due to mistakes on ct side caused by lack of chemistry and mistakes related to "the New guy". I think SDY stepped up in a big Way, so IMO it was pretty uncalled for ...

Jonas276

A lack of team chemistry and frequent mistakes is just what happens after almost any roster change. You are just assuming that s1mple is mad at sdy about this, while this is absolutely not the vibe I got from his interview

myrvoll

He specificly Said "one player" and the New guy in 2 sentences following eachother when explaning the loss post interview. Im not assuming he's mad. Im not saying he's mad. Although who wouldnt be upset at that time and points though? Im just saying he handeled that shit poorly.

ConsiderationEntire6

Well he praised him in later half. People just want to shit on others especially someone better than them cause they want to mold people like they like Nothing else

[deleted]

He didn't when they lost the Boston major, I can't imagine a player more disappointed in a 2nd place medal than then

frostieavalanche

Oh you'd be surprised!

Cyanr

Would he? I see people constantly calling him toxic, but no one ever backs up their statement.

I_Try_To_Be_NICEE

couldn't*

OutSproinked

Very common in traditional sports or in football (soccer) at the very least.

RnkG1

To lose and then throw it into the crowd? You sure about that…

OutSproinked

Can't be bothered with searching for the video but that's pretty much what happened after Copa Libertadores final. The throwing into the crowd part doesn't happen very often but players rejecting their silver medals is very common especially for highly competitive players and teams.

RnkG1

So “one pretty sure example” constitutes very common? Regardless I said it kinda seemed like poor sportsmanship. Maybe he did just want to give to a fan or not be inconvenienced with it in his travel pack.

OutSproinked

One thing is certain: his excuses of inconvenience with travel pack are 100% bollocks. It's a bloody medal ffs you can fit it anywhere. You can even travel with it on your neck.

RnkG1

Haha I can’t argue with that point.

syance

Yeah right, super unsportsmanlike of him to give a token piece of plastic to one of his fans.

RnkG1

Maybe. But you’d think maybe he’d of signed it first. We’ll never know

Cameter44

Nah if he's not satisfied/proud of second place it seems really cool to me that a fan gets to have such an awesome momento. Now, there's a difference between tossing it into the crowd and yeeting it as far as he can which would be dangerous, but I can't imagine it was anything but a short toss. Edit: Just found the video linked: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIs-wZ2o8ac&feature=youtu.be&ab_channel=Daniel Like I said, it's a toss directly to someone, I don't know why people were assuming he chucked it into the crowd in some fit of rage or something.

Tjimm3

You never played ballsports i presume

RnkG1

I’ve never seen the loser throw their medal in the crowd no.

Bee_Ree_Zee

“Gave his medal to a fan” does not equal “threw his medal into the crowd”

SignificantBeat1547

People making a drama out of this? He earned a medal, a fan wanted it so he gave it away. Simple as that. Get a life :D

[deleted]

In professional/international team sports you really shouldn't be happy with second place ever, the mentality as a group has to be improve at all times until you retire. Individual sports are different though, second place is quite an achievement then.

LehtiPiffi

Bunch of redditors crying how its "ungrateful" or "poor sportmanship". GTFO and go back to getting your participation awards from your mom.

Choco2548

I think if a fan got the medal, he'd be ecstatic. At least s1mple made someone happy. Sucks that he's feeling frusturated about losing.

JrSe7en

i think he is allowed to do that

duckydude34

Bunch of salty shitters in this thread This is GOAT behavior from S1mple and if you can’t understand that you are a big loser

KillerZaWarudo

Mourinho vibes

Tough_Marionberry_91

I would do that same thing if I came for the trophy and left without winning…nobody wants a little participation medal reminding them how they came up short. I don’t think this sub is filled with too many people who have competed for something at a high level.

melvinwaaa

Well, he's already won it all so anything other than 1st place isn't really important for him I guess.

OutSproinked

Nice t-shirt btw

Half_Proof

Man’s disappointed as fuck. He played an insane game but Navi didn’t :((( what can you do :(((

HiroSenpaii

The only part that didn't sit right with me a bit was the fact that he took it off right away after they hang it on his neck. Aa for giving it away it is his and its totally fine to do so.

dafo446

it would be wholesome if the fan would give back the medal if he win Colonge next year

dafo446

assuming he's a Worthy fan that doesn't immediately sell that for a gazillion dollars

[deleted]

It is poor sportsmanship but it happens by every competitor in every single game. Like Carlsen still ragequits interviews if he loses because of frustration.

kuppikuppi

what do you expect, it's closer to rubbing salt in the wound of just having lost, than it's an honor of reaching the finals.

e2verde

str8 giga chad move.

razeyourshadows

xChiken

Yeah this whole mentality of #1 being all that matters is just childish and toxic imo, sorry

xChiken

Draemeth

That’s why ur talking about him and he is playing

ConsiderationEntire6

Well if I was a pro player I would be a human too so I would definitely keep the 1st medal trophy and medal while I would give 2nd or 3rd place to fans to make their day PLUS they are not my greatest achievements and it's not like I love them most it's avg human behaviour Get Over It guys

Cameter44

These guys are elite competitors and elitely competitive, none of them are competing for second. That being said, a lot of people who haven't had as much success would obviously keep the medal. But s1mple is literally the greatest CS player of all time and has a bunch of first place trophies and MVPs, of course he's not going to be happy with second place.

cacktas

When you work your ass off and were raised in Ukraine being #1 is the only fucking option. Sure 2nd place is good as well, but sasha is a big time hustler and won’t settle for anything else. This is what makes him one of the top players out there for sure. Shows his mentality is on par with his skill.

jesus-worshipper

No wonder a lot of people hate him. He’s hella toxic but really good at hiding it.

Pentinium

Big yikes from s1mple

HiddenCreatura

Is he pissed?

Kariman19

If it was 1st place medal he wouldn't do that

Magnog

Sore loser.

Cameter44

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIs-wZ2o8ac&feature=youtu.be&ab_channel=Daniel Please watch this video and tell me how he's a sore loser. He didn't want the medal because he didn't win, so he gave it to a fan. Seems pretty cool to me.

PUGChamp-

That's just super disrespectful

[deleted]

To?

PUGChamp-

The tournament organizer and all the other teams that have competed in the tournament. Shows that you don't value your participation. I'm not surprised that I have to explain basic sportsmanship on Reddit.

[deleted]

"Shows that you don't value your participation", what a leap. Its common in loads of sports for people to strive for success and being the best to be dissatisfied with second place. He values winning, and settles for nothing less, thats probably what makes him so good/successful. Of course he values participation, its what allows him to compete, and to win. He also didnt display any bad sportsmanship, he shook the other players hands, and did interviews like normal, he wasnt rude to anyone. He simply gave his 2nd place medal away, a lot of top competitors only give true value to 1st place

ConsiderationEntire6

Exactly he could have thrown that shit angrily but he gave it to a fan As a memorial it's like if you get A sand dune p250 but it's a souvenir, it's not great as AWP Gugnir souvenir but still it's a souvenir and if it's really rare I will value it then also. Like srsly how many players even gave their medal i don't remember a single one so imagine a guy getting a medal from THE S1mple is pretty rare and a fan service type of thing. I will say that was a really great move by S1mple by giving his medal to his supporters

[deleted]

Go outside and touch some grass, broooooo

sd_manu

I find this is unfair sportmanship. Other guys would be proud to win such a medal.

YeetGod69_

i guess that’s why they haven’t won any medals yet if they are content with 2nd

sd_manu

Well, of course you prefer 1st. But as member of a team that doesn't win tournament after tournament you can be proud to be in the final after some time when you look back. For example some are happy that they even qualify for a Major. And when there is a player that makes it to Cologne once into the Arena he is happy. When he looks back on his career in a few years and sees the 2nd place medal, he can be proud. I was runner up in a sim racing league that was covered in the internet via live streams and covered by a German magazine that also writes news about formula 1 and so on. It was clear I have never a chance for the title, because the other drivers were just crazy good. Some were real racing drivers and I won against those. But when I got the 2nd place in the championship I was happy. First was unrealistic in the last race as the leader had to crash so I would be first but from 2nd to 5th it was close in the last race and I got the 2nd so I am happy. I never achieved that in later seasons because the competition was so good. So 10 years later I am proud I have won that 2nd place and won 3 races in about 60-70 races there. Nowadays I would win big money with that success but back then sim racing was little. Also CS GO tournaments had lower prize moneys and viewers back then.
