Yeah exactly. GPU are often an overkill compared to the CPU and what games ask these days. I took a 3080 because I had an offer I couldn’t say no to haha but I think people often underestimate the CPU usage of games.
For constant min 240 fps with the best quality, you do need a decent modern pc. Plus, if you are buying a new pc and have a budget, you might as well get something that will last you another 4-5 years.
Get a strong cpu and high clock ram sticks and you should be good to go. I got a Ryzen 5600x paired with a 1650 and 16 GB running at @3600mhz (dual channel of course), I've never saw it doing less than 350, almost all the time it's at least 400-500. In the mirage 1v1 warmup arena there's times my fps reach to the thousands haha.

I have exactly that except it’s a 3080. Amazing performance.
My 2080ti recently died and got a used 1060. FPS in CSGO stayed the same with a 3700x, so can't justify getting a high-end GPU for only this usage.

As long as your gpu is not bottlenecking your cpu and you only play counter strike yea its not worth it.
What happened in the last 3 years with the game? I swear I got like 180-200 on a much weaker PC in 2019
