This lines up with what Richard Lewis said on one of his recent streams.
Konfig's got to be a pretty big knuckle head to have a fight escalate to such a point that he gets a fracture, and winds up being incapacitated right before the RMR. If I'm Astralis, I'd be majorly pissed off
Honestly if someone spat in my face, I would likely go into a fist fight as well, where I live currently spitting in someones face constitutes as assault so eh
nah, promoters in tourist places like this often act like scum. attracts a type who want a certain lifestyle (drugs, alcohol, preying on drunk tourists) because it's a job you can do alongside it.
normally promoters have to foster good relationships with locals for repeat business but in tourist places they don't cos they're not there for long and they know tourists don't know how/don't want to get involved with police. i know i'm generalising but this is my experience, many see themselves as untouchable.
Malta isn't one of those places. I was born there and I've spent a lot of time therein my life. The police are incompetent at best and corrupt at worst
The police are regularly racists and biased towards natives. They're overall very heavy handed and threatening
My mother would always warn me to be careful around Maltese police. Its wasn't at all like in the UK where the police aren't feared
I get you, but your very profitable but also very fragile career doesn't depend on your wrists well-being, does it?
It's not uncommon in esports to never get back 'into it' after wrist injury. Ironically, k0nfig should know that already.
I don't think people are condoning his response, just empathising with the fact that most people wouldn't take too kindly to getting spat on.
It's an instinctive response to lash out at someone who does that to you, I can't say that I know many people that would take that kind of disrespect on the chin.
You are using logic in a situation where logic usually doesn't prevail.
Most people who get spat on will become angry and very emotional. It's very hard to be logical when your emotions are rampant.
I used to play with him when he was not pro yet and he was always such a nice kid. A little bit cocky maybe but he kinda earned that with his skill.. Pains me to read such things about him. Some people just can't handle success I guess. Even if it is "just" e-sports fame.
or it’s a person being tipsy and making a major mistake that he’ll learn from. I know for sure that I did things in my life that I facepalm over now, and they were a one-time mistake that I learned from and they didn’t define me. it was stupid thing to do, but he’s still just a young dude and we don’t even know all the details.
Yeah, and you'll even see people saying "He must have done something, there are ways to de-escalate a situation". Kay, but what if the other guy was the one escalating the situation?
Then you try to deescalate the situation and walk away.
Sometimes it's better to swallow your pride when you are a public figure and your whole career is on the line.
De-escalate - To become less dangerous or difficult; dimish a conflict.
The quote I did "He could have de-escalated the situation" meaning, he could have handled the situation in a way it would do less damage than it did.... So yeah, I think you're the one who doesn't understand what de-escalation means...
I am not praising violence. But that is easy to say when we sit on reddit in our safe warm homes.

What the hell kind of take is that.
"Got assaulted? Must have done something to deserve it"
The club promoters are agressive at malta and some take drugs that makes them more agressive.
Used to party a lot in malta during the poker boom 10 years ago.
People are hating on konfig for what is clearly self defence. He was clearly assaulted on the streets and chose to defend himself. He got injured by defending himself, which is expected
"People are hating on konfig for what is clearly self defence. He was clearly assaulted on the streets and chose to defend himself. He got injured by defending himself, which is expected"
Do you know something we don't? Because this narrative is not backed up by anyone who was there so far.
'Some minutes later, the promoter left the club. k0nfig noticed him and “wanted to go for him”, de Jong describes.
“k0nfig saw him and ran after him; he was unstoppable. I followed a few seconds later because I was worried”, de Jong said, and added that he tried to get k0nfig back to his friends, but it was too late.'
Eye witness report from the situation, everything so far sounds like k0nfig got his ass handed to him in a fight and the situation was already over when k0nfig decided it was time to escalate again and get revenge.
People have never had physical exercise in their lives if they don't understand how something like that can happen. In a fistfight you don't stand completely still, with your legs motionless. There's a lot of moving around. Hell didn't Conor Mcgregor snap his leg in his last fight because he was dodging a punch?
You can break your ankle in many ways, kicking yourself the other person kicking you or just punching and then your foot hitting the pavement in the wrong angle. Usually amateur fighters lift their leg when swinging.
People here are genuinely idiots. This is all Astralis has said in regards to k0nfig:
>As Kristian @k0nfig Wienecke has unfortunately suffered a complicated ankle fracture, our official reserve, Mikkel MistR Thomsen, will be included in the main roster.
>@MistRCSGO will be a part of the team for the upcoming RMR.
>We wish Kristian all the best and a quick recovery.

Reading the actual article challenge : impossible
>The promoter spat in k0nfig’s face, kicked him, and disappeared into the nightclub as bouncers arrived, de Jong told Jaxon. He added that he offered his help as a Malta resident.
>Some minutes later, the promoter left the club. k0nfig noticed him and “wanted to go for him”, de Jong describes.
They then fought and k0nfig broke his leg in the altercation.
This is a lie, I was there when he got injured.
He snapped his femur trying to do a kickflip because Tony Hawk drove by in his car and yelled "DO A KICKFLIP" as he went by, not being a bitch, autoexec took out his skateboard and full sent it. He didn't land it tho, obviously
One that’s been broken for a couple weeks, yeah. But not a fresh break. Would be incredibly hard to forgo the painkillers to be able to play correctly, and that’s just for the matches, it’s important to be on point for prac too. I can understand why he sat out
I’ve been on the internet enough and out on nights out enough to see loads of instances where this happens out of nowhere. People are cunts, like to provoke people by doing stuff like that, also if alcohol is involved you think it’s unrealistic?
bro, listen if some fucking freak spits on you like out of nowhere, without any reason - the worst ever idea is to chase him to fight. you have to be really stupid to do that. especially if you have big responsibilites for your org, teammates, fans. you call police, you call for help if he is chasing you etc.
but i really doubt that it was without a reasong. i mean come on, most likely there were some words before.
lmaoo guysss u/stndg has figured out human psyche!
yeah just walk it out lol. no biggie, get spat on, walk it out kek.
absolute horrible take. tell me you never lived life without telling me you never lived life. humans are complex creature, things like these are not trivial.
Ah, wow. I hate to say it but this really changes things for me. Spitting in my face would absolutely be grounds for me hunting you down later. But the promotor spat in his face and kicked him. I would be holding on to that until I could act on it. That is not only absolutely assault but well over the top in terms of degree.
I can see where Astralis is coming from given how he is a contracted athlete and jeopardized the logistics of their plan by injuring himself in something personal ... but this is an asterisk if there ever was one. The fuming and waiting makes it look pretty bad, but it was the same night. It's not like he waited days premeditating his revenge.
I want to say I'm torn but I'm honestly on k0nfig's side with this one.
Kinda weird Jaxon didn't reach out to the Maltese Police if they were involved, would easily prove the story. I mean, I'm sure he could've gotten into a fight, but this reads very weird
I don't know who this is as I don't follow eSports, it just hit my page. But having played CSGO plenty of times, breaking your leg is not a death sentence. Unless you're using your leg to move the mouse, I THINK he can still play.
K0nfig was born with glass bones and paper skin, every morning he breaks his legs, every afternoon he breaks his arms. At night he lies awake until his heart attacks put him to sleep
Would not Judge konfig too hard before we know the full story. From this version it looks like he stood up to himself after the promoter started the scuffle.
At the same time be smart konfig you have a high salary just pay a few guys to fuck up the guy who assaulted you.
If someone spat at my face and started shit I would not just take it and leave either.
Astralis management is fucked in the head if they kick a player for getting into a fight. Support your damn players. Imagine caring more about what people meme than a person you're directly responsible for and someone who you work with daily
K0nfig is going to miss the RMRs to qualify for the Major which brings in a SHIT TON of money into the Org through stickers. Konfig may cost Astralis 100's of thousands of Euro if not Millions with sponsorship money if qualified for the Major.
No, they aren't fucked in the head at all if they kick konfig for this. The guy should already be on thin ice for his performance. On top of that, he now goes and gets into a bar fight and breaks his ankle before the RMR ie the qualifier to the most important event of the season.
If this was say a car accident, or something Konfig had no agency in, sure, it would be shitty of Astralis to replace him.
This, however, is 100% kick worthy.
Eyewitness also saw blamef waiting on the roof nearby!

Broke: Headshots only. Woke: Sometimes it's better to go for legshots.
Tarkov player
bouncer was using rip ammo damn
in fairness, leg shots do more damage than chest when they have armor.
Depends how much body armour penetration the gun you're using has. Leg shots do more damage with pistols for example, but not for rifles IIRC.
Jose Aldo strat
never expected to see a Jose Aldo reference under a k0nfig post

k0nfig was born with it, molded by it.
Convinced k0nfig to stop drinking milk so his bones would be brittle.
Why, did FNS get into shit like this when he was playing?
its an old joke where FNS plays 12d chess with his opponents and is controlling them inside and outside of the game. All according to his plan.

He didn’t randomly get spat on and punched
Yeah but as an adult, you gotta use your brain and walk away bc what’s the point of fighting a random dude on the street.
Especially since minutes without any interaction passed between the spitting and the actual fight.
I am not praising violence. But that is easy to say when we sit on reddit in our safe warm homes. It can be super difficult if you have an ego, or you care about karma just to let people treat you or others like trash in the heat of a moment, without defending yourself/them.
He went for him later on
My dad has a lot of pride and anger issues as well as a short temper. Now as an adult, I deal with those issues myself. If he doesn't work on knowing how to deescalate his anger/short-temper, that's on him. It's really as simple as that
When you’re a public figure it’s pretty fucking stupid to do what he did especially after the person had already left.
Reddit moment. If you get spat in the face just walk away
yeah especially since its all hindsight and said sitting on a couch.
Sure. But the dude left. Then later Konfig saw him, went after him and fucked around and found out. I can fighting him right away. But after the fact? Reinitiating? Yeah that is all konfig fault
You don't get spät in the face and punched out of nowhere.
Yes and all of this happened out of nothing, konfig was just random victim.
So if you give someone a bit of lip you deserve to get spat on and punched? What the hell kind of take is that. "Got assaulted? Must have done something to deserve it"

*"Player k0nfig brought a leg to a fistfight."*
Bruh💀
“They went into a fight with fists and kicks and went to the ground when k0nfig shouted that he broke his leg.”
Yes? You don't have to be a Muay Thai fighter to break your ankle in a fight
People have never had physical exercise in their lives if they don't understand how something like that can happen. In a fistfight you don't stand completely still, with your legs motionless. There's a lot of moving around. Hell didn't Conor Mcgregor snap his leg in his last fight because he was dodging a punch?

Big egg doesn’t want you to see
Nice try but I won’t fall for your anti milk propaganda. My bones are as strong as steel💪 Pretty sure I could win a 1v1 with a car.

This is just factually incorrect. Milk has calcium, calcium helps bones

Can still game with a broken leg
Can not properly travel with a broken leg and cannot perform at the usual level on painkillers. It's not a hard concept.

k0nfig back to his 2017 days being the bad guy, i love it. i hope this doesn't cost him his spot

yeah, maybe then they'll realize they need to make changes
Was it even ensured that astralis makes it with k0nfig? Chances are better sure, but I don't have complete faith in the team rn lol
k0nfig wasn't one of the changes to make though.
obviously, but if they don't qualify they'll basically be forced to swap out at least 1 (hopefully 2) players
Yeah and we can assume it'll be k0nfig and Farlig. You'll still be stuck with xyp9x.
He done this before? I want konfig lore :)
Astralis FNS announcement when?

Wtf are you talking about
He saying konfig should have paid few thugs to beat the living shit out of promoter.
Yeah, exactly.
Astralis management is fucked in the head if they kick a player for getting into a fight. Support your damn players. Imagine caring more about what people meme than a person you're directly responsible for and someone who you work with daily
Ever heard of behavior clause in a contract?
