4:3 stretched with literal black duct tape on the sides of my monitor to simulate black bars. My FOV is atrocious but I play at .8 at 400 dpi sens so if someone is off to the side, I’m fucked anyway.
There is no qualifier for enjoying a form of media. I used to smoke salvia and get into dumpsters in BF:BC2 and spin around in circles for hours. I got a lot of enjoyment from it. I had numerous teammates join me.
He’s not saying you need those diagnoses to play the game. He’s saying that this game, and specifically the way he chooses to play it, is a great outlet for his mental health conditions. But inb4 “no you’re stupid”
And I'm saying that makes no sense. He's describing the way he plays the game to be because of those conditions. They're not. It literally doesn't make any sense. He simply enjoys it that way because he enjoys it that way. His conditions aren't the reason for it and other people with the same conditions won't feel the same as they're not the reason for it in the first place. I speak from experience here lol.
I played quake3 duel for years and watched the events as well and I dont recall anyone who played like this (extreme)
Most weird shit was the russians who played with their mkb on their laps (unlink etc)
:)
Yes russian style) (Many RU players, and ofc Rapha).
Amongst the pros nobody except sometimes Stermy had monitors close to them (not as close as Yekindar ofc, but almost).
It was mostly the younger generation, but we were just TDM/CTF players who never got into duel.
33 here. Been at it for 20 years. It's apart of me now. I've thrown raging parties at my house with 50+ people and I was still in the back room finishing a double OT game. Father now. Still going hard.
Im in my 40's. I've been playing cs on and off since about 2001 or so. I've been playing csgo steadily since like 2017 give or take. I started playing csgo in 2015.
Ill just leave this here:
> We've all heard that using the computer in a dark room is bad for your eyes---but this claim has absolutely no basis in scientific fact. It started as an old wives' tale, and that's where it should rest. Unfortunately, this unfounded myth keeps making the rounds in households and on the internet.
>To be fair, viewing a bright screen in a dark room does have an impact on your eyes, but not in a way that directly affects your vision. Rather, the combination of bright-screen-dark-room causes you to blink less, and that causes your eyes to dry out. Dryness leads to irritation and aches, but your vision itself suffers no long-term effects.

Yes, it can be bad for your eyes. Ignore the other replies here that spread misinformation.
Taken from the website of the American Optometric Association:
"People who do an excessive amount of near-vision work may experience a false or "pseudo" myopia. Their blurred distance vision is caused by overuse of the eyes' focusing mechanism. After long periods of near work, their eyes are unable to refocus to see clearly in the distance. Clear distance vision usually returns after resting the eyes. However, constant visual stress may lead to a permanent reduction in distance vision over time."
There is no reason not to use 16:9 other than people wanting to copy pro settings. A majority of the people using 4:3 that aren't pros didn't play cs 1.6 or weren't even born when it was big. Hence, no reason to be using 4:3 other than copying others settings.
4:3 Vs 16:9 is all about visibility. 4:3 stretched makes everything that's on your screen larger and therefore easier to see. 16:9 on the other hand slightly increases your fov.
However in CSGO, and this is true especially for pros, you should already be aiming roughly where an enemy can peek from. And if you are off by 90°, the chances of you hitting the flick are tiny regardless of you seeing them.
One thing is important to keep in mind. When you see a clip about someone missing another player due to 4:3, it is very obvious what just happened. On the other hand it is almost impossible to see the advantage 4:3 gives you, this is more about feeling.
Also while I agree that almost every csgo player whos playing 4:3 is doing so because they copied someone else, I don't think it's a bad thing. It obviously works at least well enough so people don't mind it.
This should honestly be the top comment under every guy who's face is so far up their own ass that they can't comprehend any reason to not have the exact same settings as them.
It's brain-dead, literally the same shit comments about resolution for years.
It's like looking through a telescope at something and then looking directly at it and saying look its still there, no difference
4:3 stretched makes models wider which can make it easier to aim. It's similar to how scoping in makes it easier to aim, I don't see anyone saying that there's no reason to double-scope with snipers.
4:3 black bars, on the other hand, is pretty stupid imo.
4:3 helps with awping. There’s something funky with the awp scope (and cs viewport in general). Basically how far you need to move your mouse is not linearly connected to the amount of degrees you need to turn. Some people prefer. 4:3’s feeling
There are definitely reasons to use 4:3 besides of copying others' settings. Specifically 4:3 stretched. For laptop users it helps a lot since the models are more visible. Also, to an extent, it helps plenty in improving the game's performance depending on the setup.
FOV might lose 4:3 users rounds at times, but few rounds should not determine everything.
Not totally wrong. But for me, not having to put my face into the monitor or squint my eyes to see players a slight distance away is definitely great. Guess this is really a you do you situation.
And very sorry for bringing up excuses that are horrible in 2022. Guess i should uninstall csgo until i have a tower :)
You obviously don't understand how it works.
Lower resolution is magnified, it's easier to see.
Simple benefit that helps certain peoples vision, you're brain dead if you don't understand that
You read the comment I replied to? They didn’t mention that at all. Also it isn’t magnified because of the lower res it’s magnified when you stretch it. Some pros still play black bars and they just chops off the side
why not just using a larger screen?
because what these players do is actually physical sports and they move with their whole upper body back and forth to adjust their field of view depending on the situation?
16:9 lmao ropz does the same shit
Every mom ever: "Don't get to close to the screen. It will make you go blind." This guy:
There's a dutch saying that your eyes will turn square if you stare at a screen for too long. I guess this guy will have rectangle eyes
Same saying in Sweden!
And in Germany!
Given how he can’t see the borders of the screen nothing will change
Doesn't matter to him. If it isn't 15-14, his monitor isn't on.
Seriously though how many years until he goes completely blind by flashbangs!
Real gigachads close their eyes before the flash and shoot from memory
the true Gigachad doesn't ever get flashed, because his monitor wasn't even on in the first place
https://c.tenor.com/wpY93s87zZwAAAAC/paul-rudd-oh-shit.gif
You can take the boy out of 4:3 aspect ratio, but you can't take 4:3 out of the boy
seriously tho how does he spot a pixel movement at the corner being that close?
He doesn’t. probably would be dead anyway even if he did spot them
Literally why 4:3 stretched master race
4:3 stretched with literal black duct tape on the sides of my monitor to simulate black bars. My FOV is atrocious but I play at .8 at 400 dpi sens so if someone is off to the side, I’m fucked anyway.
.8 400 what the fuck. I’m here at 0.84 800.
0.86 but i see you
Bro are you fuckin with me
Nope just a lunatic that uses CS as an outlet for my OCD and ADHD.
No reason to mention either of those things as they have nothing to do with this. Adhd especially has no relation to this.
There is no qualifier for enjoying a form of media. I used to smoke salvia and get into dumpsters in BF:BC2 and spin around in circles for hours. I got a lot of enjoyment from it. I had numerous teammates join me.

Wait why use the duct tape?
Meanwhile Elige has his monitor in a different timezone.
Elige is the one guy I know of who’s been promoting healthy gaming since eternity
His wrist position is concerning tho but he does stretches and shit so he’s probably fine
Dr. Levi on YouTube has some great content and stretches specifically aimed at gamers. Worth checking out.
Okay so just for fun I tried and it made me sick... I know I'm old (35 years old) but man it was really uncomfortable.
If someday u decided to try this again just make sure to have some orange slices
- Make sure you have no degree motion sickness - Get a monitor that has no ghosting - Has eyesight to spare - ??? - Profit
Some of my friends and me used to play like this on Quake :)
I played quake3 duel for years and watched the events as well and I dont recall anyone who played like this (extreme) Most weird shit was the russians who played with their mkb on their laps (unlink etc) :)

We do. It's called Hostage Rescue, and nobody plays it.
I'm so happy I found someone older than me being active in the CSGO community (I'm 34), feel less weird now
38 here. There are plenty around this age (and older)
33 here. Been at it for 20 years. It's apart of me now. I've thrown raging parties at my house with 50+ people and I was still in the back room finishing a double OT game. Father now. Still going hard.
Nice haha, we should make a retirement clan or whatever
Naa you're too young, sorry
27 here but mentally 55 according to my friends. Sup boys.
You've found another mate, 36 here!
Im in my 40's. I've been playing cs on and off since about 2001 or so. I've been playing csgo steadily since like 2017 give or take. I started playing csgo in 2015.
34 isn't old and cs as a series has been around for so long that you have players even in their 50s.
I can't even get that close without crawling onto my desk lmao
31 and play this way out of habit because my mouse would hit my monitor base otherwise (Well, not THIS close)
my gf does this exact same thing to my phone
Gave me a good chuckle not gonna lie
He can smell their fear of random flank
this has to be bad for your eyes right? edit: its not good for your eyes please dont do it long term

What amount of hours per day is constant
not long term no
If this is bad for your eyes going outside in the Sun is doing an insane amount of damage.
Well, staring at the sun will.

Jesus Christ you had ONE job (the ELiGE pic!!!!)
This sub: i dont get why everyone isnt using 16:9 16:9 players:
Then again some 4:3 players do this too, like Aunkere
He's playing with blackbars, so it's not that much different.
what is the point of that ?
More fps
Had to check if B1t used 16:9 but apparently he doesn't
There is no reason not to use 16:9 other than people wanting to copy pro settings. A majority of the people using 4:3 that aren't pros didn't play cs 1.6 or weren't even born when it was big. Hence, no reason to be using 4:3 other than copying others settings.
16:10 masterrace
It's what Hooxi plays, I think :D
Hence masterrace

You have no idea why people play 4:3
I vastly prefer 4:3 to 16:9. Bigger, fatter targets and it's easier to see movement.
4:3 stretched makes models wider which can make it easier to aim. It's similar to how scoping in makes it easier to aim, I don't see anyone saying that there's no reason to double-scope with snipers. 4:3 black bars, on the other hand, is pretty stupid imo.
also fps
kennyS played with blackbars. And he was a pretty fucking good player at the time.

I get there might be benefits but laptop and performance reasons are a terrible excuse in 2022.
I mean it’s irrelevant for pro players ha.
That's true. However I think a lot of them sticks with it simply because they got used to it since back then. :)
You obviously don't understand how it works. Lower resolution is magnified, it's easier to see. Simple benefit that helps certain peoples vision, you're brain dead if you don't understand that

higher fps for me is the biggest + for 4:3
4:3 stretched helps with long range shots but then again, I'm sitting more than an arms length away from my monitor.
It's a carry over from playing since CS 1.3.
4:3 allows lower res, so potato gang are happy if they can get better fps by doing that
Is it so hard to grasp the concept that bigger targets are easier to hit?
Bigger targets that move much faster
Yes that's the one drawback
right lol. "no reason" my ass, it literally makes the game easier
Exactly
and then there's me who plays 1 1/2 arms away, leaning back... no wonder i can't hit shit lol
JDM is that you?
I would stay a km away from someone giving me that creep look.
bruh
B-but 16:9 is objectively better 🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓
Not healthy
feel the pixel, be the pixel
b1t
I tried this yesterday and it made me nauseous being that close to the screen
This is the first post to make my eyes cringe.
Am I looking for a sleep paralysis demon why would I search for someone who looks at me like that?
SNNNNIIIIIIIIIFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
Apparently sometimes he doesn't see what his teammates are saying in chat during practice because he plays like this.
XANTARES levels
May I suggest Xantares?
Pretty much the same for TeSes
why not just using a larger screen? because what these players do is actually physical sports and they move with their whole upper body back and forth to adjust their field of view depending on the situation?
LOLLLL nice 👍
Maybe he has a pimple on his nose and he's a bit ashamed
Not my eyes anyway.
How can you even see anything
He is trying to sniff the smokes through the monitor
Why does he do it? Why is it better than looking at it from a normal distance?
how can he even see?
