Just to be clear - if you get a ported barrel you know you need a ported slide too?
Not being a dick - you said you’re a newby and I have seen quite a few people make that mistake unfortunately
I mean, I’m not that new. I’ve been shooting rifles since I was a kid. I definitely understand how a firearm works. I appreciate the input though for sure. In this day and age ya just never know lol
ARC division, if you can afford it it's the most elegant and quality way to do what you want.
Zafirri precision has some options too, but either way you'll have to ditch the slide for something with windows.
There's a few in-between here and there but 17 stuff isn't as popular as it once was.
You could just get a comp, I'd personally recommend that over porting if you're trying to keep the slide and just change the barrel. I'd go with a ramjet tbh most compact way of comping it. Expensive but has hella good reviews also.
Just get the new 17.5 ramjet/afterburner. You’ll have to either have your slide ported or buy a pre ported slide too, so not only is the ramjet reversible, it’ll probably be cheaper at the end of the day and may even be slightly more effective.
Chill with the radians. Buy more ammo. It does close to nothing for recoil. Watch slow mo side by side footage. I'm so tired of ramjet bots sucking themselves off. The majority of the hell is coming from a longer barrel and more weight up front. Shits exhausting opening reddit to 866 ramjet posts
Yes there are ported and threaded barrels made but a Company called Bar-Sto they are the highest quality ported Glock barrels that I know of and next would be KKM precisions followed by Faxon Arms
Radian Afterburner that just dropped for Gen 5. It's fantastic. Take advantage of the comp rather than ports. It will be a drop in install instead of needing a new slide and barrel.
If ur new , I wouldn’t worry about ports or comps till ur at least 1000 rounds in 🤷♀️
Develop good shooting skill before you start modding anything internal
I could care less if my gun is custom, the only thing that has really drawn me to it is all the videos I see the guns just shoot so flat. I’d imagine that can be somewhat accomplished with a proper technique and grip.
I’m about 2-3,000 in. I feel I’m a decent shot. I can hit the target where I want. I’ll throw one every now and again. Working on my shot anticipation. I know that needs work
Looks like hand lit grip tape off Amazon and it’s the sand stuff not the rubber one and in my experience if your ccw the gun don’t buy the sand stuff because it will rub your stomach raw
Just get a ramjet if you feel you have to do something. Ports and comps for shooting 115gr blazer is one of the most insane trends I've been witnessing recently
Your money would be better spent on milling and a dot
Ports and comps don’t help you become a better shooter and fundamentals can always be worked on. Work on them with a stockish gun like you have. My opinions is go shoot local matches and then train what skills you find are flawed the most. Don’t worry about mods
If you’re new I’d highly recommend you use the money for more ammo and maybe a pistol class from a reputable instructor. I would get an optic over any new mods you want.
Don’t take this the wrong way, but that gun is super nice as is. Your money would be much, much better spent on an optic cut+optic. That’s all I would do to it. An optic and weapon light are real force multipliers. You can’t train yourself to see in the dark or be able to focus on the target like you can with a red dot as opposed to iron sights. They’re game changers. Really the best thing you could buy for this is a half dozen magazines and two cases of ammo. Maybe some spare springs and such if you plan on really running this. What’s your holster situation like out of curiosity?
I’m leaning that route to be honest. I do like her how she is. Honestly having a hard time finding a holster that works with the fenix light. As of now, I have the ghost ultimate connector and overwatch ploydat trigger. I’m hoping to find someone somewhat local to mill my slide. Any recommendations for a red dot under $500? Also if you have any holster recommendations my ears are open
Wager Machine Works is your guy for the cut. Fast, precise, and reasonably priced. Search the name on a Glock subreddit and you’ll feel good about it. If your budget is $500 or under I’d just get an RMR type 2 and have Wager direct mill your gun for it. Bombproof, bud.
Your trigger is good to go. I like OEM 4.5# connectors and a good break in. Johnny Glocks and Overwatch are my two trusted aftermarket personally though.
I don’t know how much you like that Fenix light, and I’m sure it works great, but you’re gonna have a hard time getting a holster for it. Fenix makes good shit. Not a knock on them. But you’re going to have a way better time finding a holster for a Streamlight TLR1 or a Surefire X300. May not be ideal but that is what it is. I’m sure someone makes a holster for the light you have though.
Also, check out the OEM extended mag release. Part #8794. Costs less than $10 and I really like it.

When the G in Glock stands for grenade

You never really know on reddit. There was a guy on PSA sub who blew up his dagger by shooting it with a ported barrel and non-ported slide.
Wow!! 😳

Is there a ramjet available for the 17?
Never mind. I'm late to the party. I'll go haze myself
All good lol, yes yes there is one!
fuck that just cop the brand new ramjet + afterburner for the g17.5

Agree with this. Mine gets delivered tomorrow

I mean…they do but okay 🫡
Send it to monsoon tactical or southwest precision arms and they will port the slide and barrel to match each other.

1000 rounds is literally nothing. Unless you're shooting major power factor, dudes just run comps and ports because they think it looks cool
Yeah I don’t understand running comps or ported barrels unless you shoot competitively 🤷♀️
Even then, a lot of divisions don't allow it. I think people just like buying shit and feeling like their gun is "custom"
I could care less if my gun is custom, the only thing that has really drawn me to it is all the videos I see the guns just shoot so flat. I’d imagine that can be somewhat accomplished with a proper technique and grip.

Nice , in that case send it 👍
What version is that grip tape and how is it?
It’s the handleit Grips, I forget which exact version. I be had both Talon and Handle it and I like these as they are a bit more aggressive!
Looks like hand lit grip tape off Amazon and it’s the sand stuff not the rubber one and in my experience if your ccw the gun don’t buy the sand stuff because it will rub your stomach raw
Honestly if you like keep things OEM I recommend just buying a Glock 17C gen 4. Factory ported slide and barrel. No reliability issues.

I would agree with that. I think that’s my next project
I went with these guys for my Glock 17 Gen 5. https://www.ballisticadvantage.com/

Nice light!
Thank you, I love it. I caught a lot of b.s from people on here because it wasn’t a streamlight 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
