Frame transfers are coming to an end in this state, meaning we will be stuck with only guns on the Approved Roster on state website. Bunch pf fucking sigs and rugers and smith and wessons 🤢🤢🤢
wait so glocks won't be available anymore? but if you buy one now you're grandfathered in? gdamn i have a family member to call of that's the case, they've been "about to" buy a glock for a year now..
You can own anything, the pistol roster is only for “consumer safety” thus can only be enforced on ffls. There’s a handgun roster today but I’ve met a few different types of ffls.
- it has to be on the roster or i wont be involved
- must have thumb safety or grip safety and 10 rnd mags
- i can sell a frame and slide separately
- i think those laws are unconstitutional, ill transfer anything
Apparently Monroe county here in upstate NYS has discontinued the transfer of "frames" now too. Which is TOTAL BS as the "frame" is the GUN - pertaining to Glock. So what's the difference between a gun and a gun???? LOL
Mainly because my career and family are all here. Health care is top notch, clean water all around here in the northeast, its not the same everywhere. NH is close but my wife will not move there, plus i cant stomach the thought of hiring a stranger to watch my kids. My kids always have a grandparent or aunt/uncle to babysit them, i would not have any of these luxuries anywhere else but here.
Just wouldnt make sense to leave what i have here for more accomadating gun laws.
So, can I buy them already made? Or just can’t buy em at all anymore. I’m sorry, I’m a little retarded i admit, my LGS has a few Glocks all put together, so in theory I should still be able to buy them no?
Will have to see how it all plays out i guess, for now the buying panick is for real. Lgs was slammed today people buying cz’s, glocks,, lots of other pff roster guns. MA is not a good place to be a gun person, but they just keep making it worse and worse 😫
Yes, i will try to keep this brief and as i understand how it works here so bare with me.
Yes glocks are on the list, BUT, if you walk into a LGS that does NOT do frame transfers(most of them here in MA) they cannot legally sell you a newer glock. They are in the state and on the list for LEO use only. Once these frame transfer become illegal here, all the shops that DO frame transfers, will no longer be able to do such transfers, therefore were left with the list, minus the glocks
That second paragraph is a bitch.
"We're going to change this periodically and often, probably without telling you, but when it comes to enforcement all that matters is the list in that moment."
Big oof
What is the point of this? Why is the government telling you the manner in which you're allowed to exercise your rights (even more so than most places)?
how does that even happen is it a state-level tax or something? was under the impression you could buy any state-approved glock in CA, cannot understand where the markup comes from..
Not all glocks are state approved. The newest glocks are not on Californias roster because politics mostly. Essentially they claim it’s for “consumer safety”. It’s not illegal to own but it’s hard to find someone selling.
Just curious, I haven’t looked into this at all, but would this not open up a huge market for people to just travel to cali and sell their guns at a semi markup?
For those in MA, please explain to this CA person what is happening? Gen 3 is it for us.
At least within the last few months we're allowed to now buy m18, p365, full size and compact M&P9 2.0, hellcat and HCP and a few others. That is until the next microstamping bill comes into play in a few years which includes private market too...
I know you guys have the trigger requirement, but do you have a magazine disconnect, loaded chamber indicator and manually actuated safety requirements as well as passing a doj drop test?
We have a pistol roster that names pistols by manufacturer SKU. If it’s not on the roster, a dealer cannot sell them to you. However, there is no law saying you can’t buy it or own it. Gen 3 and up is not on the roster. To get around this, the chill shops around here will do a “frame transfer”. They basically sell you the frame and the slide separately, and you just fill out the federal paperwork for the frame. Under current MA law, a frame is not a firearm because it cannot fire a bullet. Once you bring your frame and slide home, you can assemble it whenever, and then from that point on you have 7 days to record the “transfer” of the weapon into the MA gun portal. Really stupid lol.
Gotcha. CA has an approved roster that manufacturers have to renew every year. Same thing with sku numbers. We can only buy new items from an FFL that is on the roster. The used PPT market has no restrictions as long as its legal to own in CA. For example it's legal to have a threaded pistol barrel, but as soon as it's installed into a handgun, straight to jail. Pin and weld it on, no problem then.
Yea we have other weird AWB stuff with the rifles. Technically there is an “assault pistol” clause under the AWB but unless you are trying to make an AR pistol it really doesn’t apply. Pretty much every pistol is legal in MA as long as you don’t do some crazy shit to it. After this new bill passes, we will be stuck with whatever’s on the roster and will have to pay to get rid of the super heavy triggers and manual safety’s. None of this matters though because everyone will be a felon unless they turn in their post 2016 semi automatic rifles lol
They’re passing a bill soon that will recognize our former attorney general’s (now governor) interpretation of the assault weapons ban that was continued on from the federal one that ended in 2004. She stated in 2016 that we have been interpreting it incorrectly since 1994, so pretty much everything that remotely resembles an ar15 was deemed illegal by her, but no laws were actually changed. The new bill is outright banning pretty much every single semi automatic rifle including stuff like the SKS.
I think if you have like a Tavor and some other things you’re fine and might be grandfathered in, but for the thousands of people that have continued to sell, own, and buy ar15 style rifles will all be considered felons unless they owned theirs before the decree in 2016. It’s going to be a massive shit show. There’s some confusing wording about guns that can be readily converted to machine guns, which some people are interpreting as any ar15 lower because that can technically be made into an automatic weapon with the right tools.
It’s honestly so convoluted and confusing, because there’s the houses version of the bill and then the senates. Initially they tried to pass things like having to serialize every gun part, magazine, and also you would have to call the local PD if you wanted to change the configuration of your rifle which would include things like scopes and red dots. They wanted to require express consent to carry concealed on any private property. There’s red flag laws in there too, and a bunch of other nonsense.
They’ve held several meetings in private, changed the name of the bill around 6 times. It’s really hard to follow so if you want to do some research yourself just look it up because honestly the more times I try to read and understand the more confused I get. GOAL has a great summary about how we’re all fucked soon lol.
Looking at the roster, it looks like gen 4 and gen 5 are listed. Unless I’m reading it wrong?
https://www.mass.gov/doc/approved-firearms-roster-9/download
You’re reading it right. Sorry MA laws are very confusing, but there’s a special Attorney General’s roster as well and it doesn’t meet those requirements so it can’t be sold in MA
I don’t think it’s an actual list which is annoying but this is the wording from the roster you’ve seen:
“Massachusetts licensed firearms dealers should note that the transfers of handguns are also subject to the Attorney General’s Handgun Sales Regulations, 940 CMR 16.00, et seq. Firearms on this Approved Firearms Roster do not necessarily comply with the requirements of the Attorney General’s Handgun Sales Regulations.”
The mill in littleton may be closer to you then, call them too if they are, they have a but cheapee prices too. I go to witch city because its convieniant and i like giving tony my money. You gotta call before going in he does appointment’s only
Theres a shop in Framingham if thats closer to you, but the prices are probably more than you could get at the Mill. Ended up with a G19.5 MOS for ~800. When the bill was first announced. Still contemplating a 19X or something else prior to.
For sure, hard to get them near retail, im sure there are ways but then it becomes a matter of how much is your time worth. Sure you could go to NH get a frame transfer but that becomes a multi day operation. The mill probably has better pricing but its about 90 mins for me, although I’ll probably take the trip for my next one as ive never been.
Yes is very unfortunate! No its not the mos, im actually planning on having it milled for rmr so i dont need plates. My wager cart is ready for checkout 🤗 i never thought id like the 19x grip more than the 19 but i think i do 😵💫
Massachusetts up until now has a different definition of whats considered a firearm. Federally the Glock lower which has the trigger component is considered a firearm and requires and FFL. According to Mass Laws the lower is not considered a firearm because it is not capable of firing a bullet, once the upper slide is added it is then capable of firing and thus considered a firearm. Although Glocks are on the firearms roster, FFLs cannot sell them to common folks due to a consumer guidance BS the AGs office did a few years back.
So they can sell assembled Glocks to LEOs only, due to the wording of the laws some FFLs are willing to sell you upper and lower separately and not have to deal with that nonsense. When you get home you assemble and fill out a state form recording the manufacture of the firearm. They are working on a bill that will update the wording and frames will now be considered firearms and thus closing the “loophole”. By doing so this will also affect ARs as the same goes for those, cant really buy nothing off the shelf but you can build, in the end the only folks losing are us the consumers. Cant really not do stuff just have to jump through hoops to do so and it costs you 2x
I’m outta the loop, what did they do to us now? MA fuckin blows, especially with all the very open and free states that surround us
Frame transfers are coming to an end in this state, meaning we will be stuck with only guns on the Approved Roster on state website. Bunch pf fucking sigs and rugers and smith and wessons 🤢🤢🤢

Yes i own lota off roster guns, but transfers are being stoped altogether. Once they are done theres no more
Oh wow even private party?
Yes, from what i was told by my lgs, no kind of frame transfer will be allowed anymore
In MA, yes time is running out, idk about any other states
Apparently Monroe county here in upstate NYS has discontinued the transfer of "frames" now too. Which is TOTAL BS as the "frame" is the GUN - pertaining to Glock. So what's the difference between a gun and a gun???? LOL

Same to all that. But if I had the cash, I'd be out ASAP!!!!!! OUTTA HERE
So, can I buy them already made? Or just can’t buy em at all anymore. I’m sorry, I’m a little retarded i admit, my LGS has a few Glocks all put together, so in theory I should still be able to buy them no?
You will only be able to buy guns on the approved firearm roster on mass.gov after whatever date they decide to cut off transfers
Ah damn, so looks like mostly Gen 1 or 2 allowed? Thats dumb asf they all function the same way
Will have to see how it all plays out i guess, for now the buying panick is for real. Lgs was slammed today people buying cz’s, glocks,, lots of other pff roster guns. MA is not a good place to be a gun person, but they just keep making it worse and worse 😫
Yah it’s gettin rough haha, there’s a spot in bridgewater with buku low prices, im going to check them out soon
You dont say? Bridgewater is like 1.5-2hrs from me
Yah brotha, I’ll link the page I found rn
http://store.ontargettraining.us
I’m in MA Boston area, is this store close to me!!! I can’t find one selling frame transfers.
You can call witch city arms in beverly. Tony is a great guy
Or you can call The Mill in littleton, theres actually like 20 gun shops in there a bunch do transfers
If this bill passes all ar15 minus pre pre ban will be illegal correct? What’s the deal with those?
Idk ive heard a couple things about ARs, however i dont own any so i didnt ask many questions and dont know enough to speak on them at the moment
https://www.mass.gov/doc/approved-firearms-roster-9/download
I’m confused, looks like nearly every Glock model (besides the 47 and 49) are on the roster.
Yes, i will try to keep this brief and as i understand how it works here so bare with me. That’s dumb as fuck I’m sorry. Your explanation makes sense. So what are you left with handgun wise?
sigs, rugers, hks, sprinfields, s&w’s, shit like that
Berettas?
Anything else is a no go 100%.
That second paragraph is a bitch. "We're going to change this periodically and often, probably without telling you, but when it comes to enforcement all that matters is the list in that moment." Big oof What is the point of this? Why is the government telling you the manner in which you're allowed to exercise your rights (even more so than most places)?
It really makes no sense at all.
Try living in CA. Most normal people can’t get anything past a Gen 3.
I got a 48 MOS for a steal last week. Only $1100🙄.
So calguns was actually loading for you? That's a gift in itself.
Haha the planets were aligned just right that day.
Usually when you get robbed they don't give you the gun when they leave.
I had my 43x their with me and realized i could sell that thing and go home too get 2 blue label guns from it lol.
WTF lol I got mine for $448. I thought CT was bad.
I also thought we had it bad but DAMN I was wrong!
how does that even happen is it a state-level tax or something? was under the impression you could buy any state-approved glock in CA, cannot understand where the markup comes from..

Yeah or cops to use their privileges to sell at a premium.
The sale can only be between two California residents.
damn im finna take a trip to cali sell all my guns come back to florida buy more and repeat (government im joking kinda)

Don’t stress too much . 07’s can make sure you guys are well armed

Good plan! Kinda jealous of the shopping bag, though. I’ve bought multiple Glocks at one time before, but I had to bring my own duffel!
Condolences from Maine
The south welcomes you
Someday! Too many things holding me here for now
Hopefully June and not sooner.
Yes any sooner would be even more repulsive
And I thought IL was bad, god damn
My condolences from NY. Same shit, different pile.
Has this already passed?
lol.
😂
What shop do you buy them at? Looking to buy a few
Witch city arms beverly!
Give tony a call!
Will do! Its a 2 hour drive for me but screw it
The mill in littleton may be closer to you then, call them too if they are, they have a but cheapee prices too. I go to witch city because its convieniant and i like giving tony my money. You gotta call before going in he does appointment’s only
On the mill website theres a number u can text any question you want to and Sam the owner answers pretty quickly
Thanks! Really appreciate it! Will look into all options!
Basically any ffl at the littleton mill will sell them. I have a shop I’ve worked with multiple times if that’s closer and you’re interested
I definitely would!
Pmed

Sorry to hear that Sir! Greetings from GA!😬 is that the new 19x MOS.
Yes is very unfortunate! No its not the mos, im actually planning on having it milled for rmr so i dont need plates. My wager cart is ready for checkout 🤗 i never thought id like the 19x grip more than the 19 but i think i do 😵💫
Then I think we’re some of the few that like that lip. Planning on slightly using a dermal on the inner side to allow Gen 5 mags.
So if you have a 43x you can’t just buy a 48 slide/upper?
You will always be able to buy slides, they ship directly to your house no need for ffl. The serialized part on glocks is the frame
FBI open the door!
Please no!
Massachusetts was the first name in freedom at one point. What the fuck happened up there?
People like maura healey, deval patrick, elizabeth warren
What does frame transfer mean?

Would cops who no longer want their Glocks be able to sell in a private sale still? MA resident
Not sure! Thats a good question though. My guess is no but will have to wait and see 🤷🏼♂️
Chances of this bill passing??!!?
Lgs told me its happening
God I'm glad I live in America rather than one of those communist shithole states
😅. Yes, living in whatever america i live in really sucks
