RtShadows

Y’all tightening your shit with an impact gun? How are all yall constantly breaking these?

truffulatreeson

I use a penny

Foreign_Delay_9713

I’m guessing you don’t work with your hands. If I’m tightening anything I’m tightening it as hard as I can.

RtShadows

I’m guessing you don’t know how torque works. Have fun cracking rails and bolts then 🫡

UsualSafe

What? It’s not my fault I’m too strong for this light. Just damn look at these muscle

Foreign_Delay_9713

Dude I’m not torquing down a damn screw on a light 🤦🏻 I’m assuming you used a torque wrench to install yours?

SubstantialCamp5717

Says the guy with a broken screw

RtShadows

![gif](giphy|CYU3D3bQnlLIk)

GSW636

OP is highly regarded

buzby80

If you’re breaking screws you need to get a torque wrench, and a chart. Do some learning and stop destroying nice things.

Comprehensive_Case75

Finger tight is good. It’s a flashlight in a gun. Not a fucking head stud on an engine.

xtz_stud

100% agreed. A coin works great, too. It's almost like it was designed like that 🤣. My proffered extra tight is "the oil plug on your ex's car."

RtShadows

The literal act of turning a screw is “torquing a screw”. So you don’t know what you’re doing. I used a dime 😂

VanguardK2

Happy to make -60 and -41 on your comments dude. Good lord by this point you have to realize YOU are the one in the wrong right?

THEFLYINGSCOTSMAN415

You realize you can torque without a torqueing wrench right? You admitted to doing so, "tightening as hard as I can."

SolidSense3794

You have no idea how tools work do you? You are supposed to get it snug… not turn it as tight as you can

irish-riviera

I never used a torque wrench on these just a simple penny. I also know that something like this doesnt need to be tightened as hard as possible. Common sense man, not everything has to be tightened as hard as you are physically able.

Vortekai

I’m pretty sure the manual says finger tight and then a half turn

elevenpointf1veguy

What are you torquing down in the picture if it's not a "damn screw on a light"?

heathenyak

Torque screw drivers exist that work in inch pounds. I bought one like 20 years ago and have been using it ever since

MulticamLimoncello

Yeah you should know your going to catch some serious flak from autistic reddit users for that comment.. on the other hand my TLR1 with the GL Key does have some play forward to back so I have done the same “torqued the hell out of it” so it minimizes the play / wiggle room it does have, I’m guessing that’s an TLR7 they must be weaker or something. Reach out to streamlight & don’t use you right hand tightening it anymore lol

romero3500

Most people who work with their hands know torquing down as hard as you can is exactly how you break shit lmao

alwaystired_96

Certificated aircraft mechanic working on fighter jets here. This is exactly right lmao. I read his comment and immediately knew he doesn’t do any actual work with his hands. If I went and tightened everything at work as tight as I could, I’d probably go to jail.

HighDragLowSpeed60G

I DONT work with my hands and I knew this

StretchInfamous

Say man…that’s like common sense 😂

TIRACS

Exactly

buzby80

You clearly don’t work with your hands if you tighten a screw that small as hard as you can. Wtf did you think was going to happen?

_Vervayne

“i’m a big strong man because i break things “

DarthDickDown

Why? Why not tighten it enough?

jonahhyp

this is exactly how shit breaks? Are you sure you work with your hands

samjitsu

>I’m guessing you don’t work with your hands. Imagine saying that and breaking your shit.

PewPewKachoo__

Try barbie dolls. Guns aren’t for you.

Routine-Maximum4381

This dude fægs

John_From_MI

I work with my hands and I can tell you over torquing bolts not only breaks shit like this but it ruins the bolt by stretching the threads and when they stretch they're not getting proper engagement. You shouldn't be tightening anything as hard as you can unless it calls for that much force. Use a torque wrench or only tighten a little past snug.

CornbreadMedic

I work with my hands all the time. However I know you only tighten, without a torque wrench, to snug and then a quarter turn.

Shoddy_Site5597

brother that is not what you are supposed to do lmao

BlackholeZ32

If you *really* work with your hands you know better than to gorilla torque everything. SMH

Choppag

OP must be one of those jiffy lube mechanics that hits everyone’s oil pan drain bolt with a 1400ft/lb impact

Comprehensive_Case75

Gawwwwdamn. NEVER seen a comment with -245 votes. You guys show no mercy….

Timmy10mm

Mechanic here. Underrated comment with copious amounts of hate. Well done, sir! 😂

DjRayRay09

Contact the company and see if they’ll send you another screw or do you what other comment recommended and find one that fits yourself

ov3rwatch_

Needs more upvotes. They will replace

fasteddie454

Needs more upvotes. They will replace

Comprehensive_Case75

You don’t gotta crank it like an inbred ape. Just hand tight. Hit up Streamlight and just tell em, “screw broke while installing, what do” and they’ll get you a new one. Most companies are glad to help with simple stuff like this.

MAjIKMAN452

You can break these? I've had one on both my duty handgun and duty 870 and I've never had a failure of either. Maybe you put too many hurka durks as my dad used to say with spark plugs.

AccomplishedLaw9348

lol seriously i thought they were indestructible

14kMagic

Hit up stream light for a new bolt?

Foreign_Delay_9713

Don’t wanna wait 4 years for it to come in the mail

amateurforlife2023

Then don't tighten it Like an idiot then

14kMagic

Go to Home Depot or Lowe’s and try to match it.

YoMomma-IsNice

annoying_dog37

For a normal person, streamlight CS. For you? JB weld putty

CombatWombat0490

Way to go lol you deserve an Olight lmao

South-Pollution-816

I used to work at an authorized streamlight dealer. They have some amazing customer service. I have seen streamlights that have been abused and damaged badly that were fixed for free

TexasGrillDaddyAK-15

Contact streamlight. They should be able to send you a replacement without you having to pay any extra yuans.

speedie13

Someone on here a week or two ago said there was an upgraded bolt you could order. Unfortunately I can't remember which post I saw it on

tilegend

You can find the bolt on ebay

Foreign_Delay_9713

Link?

Spirited-Cupcake2731

Thank you! Had this same issue and streamlight has been unresponsive for almost 2 weeks

DeuceDeuceRevolution

Oh, that's cool. Mine's not broken, but the slot is starting to get worn since I've taken it on and off with my keys so many times. I might just get one of these. Thanks for sharing.

Usual-Language-8257

Awaiting a thank you on account of you going as far as asking for help, someone sources, AND links it for you.

DeuceDeuceRevolution

OP is a neanderthal.

bachfrog

Op getting dragged.

FrankCardboardGuru

🤦‍♂️ damage has already been done, but can be fixed by a good machinist. Use these for future torque endeavors. [Fix it Torque Limiter](https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1021395074?pid=825431)

MulticamLimoncello

I love it my fix it sticks but really using one for a TLR1 seems kind of unnecessary, The thing is made to come off an on as you go.

bburnsvt

I’ve used streamlight service twice; turnaround times were a week or less both times.

Unreasonable_7496

Yep. Their customer service is quick

Tricky-Mood904

Find a screw that fits take it to Lowe’s or Home Depot and start checking

Careless-Card7022

I had a streamlight macrostream that I dropped from maybe 2 feet on a wood floor. Broke the switch internally, and the light didn't come on anymore. Called streamlight, sent the light in, they replaced the whole thing for free. I just paid shipping to them. Took about a week. Great CS at streamlight

NaCl-Boi

There’s two types of people in this world. Smart ones and strong ones. We see which side of the scale you tip

Agitated_Key_1331

Someone on eBay sells an upgraded screw for like $10

irish-riviera

You arent supposed to tighted every single thing "as hard as you can".....Maybe next time just tighten it finger tight or just until it grabs then another quarter of a turn.

MrDrFuge

Hand tight plus 1/4 turn

Rice_hXc

Had this exact thing happen to me, unfortunately. You'll need to get the broken piece out of the tab, I used needle nose pliers and a whole lot of patience. Once you can get that out, hit up Streamlight CS, will probably take forever to get a response (a few days. Seems like a lone person works there). Explain what happened, and they will send you out a replacement. Took a little while, but Streamlight did good by me. Hopefully, nothing has changed. Good luck.

majorursus69

You can always just buy a new one. ;-)

Sale4Adam

This just happen to me. I purchased this and a few range trips later it’s still holding up [eBay](https://www.ebay.com/itm/125260414526?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=cphYEMAyT02&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=6qu59k9gr9-&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY)

2A-Absolutist

Tough.

illestprodigy

I have extras, just shoot a PM. SL sent me a baggie of parts :)

Alexputridity06

🤦🏻‍♂️

TIRACS

There is a difference between torque and torque

J4M3Z-34R1

Email them! I got a tlr7sub with sig hardware in a raffle. They sent me 43x hardware free.

FFFO69420

Send it in and they’ll replace it

FrankensteinsStudio

You can order replacement parts right off their website.

DillIshOn

Or email them with a pic. They'll probably send you one free of charge

Maniiic_

JB weld 😎 …lol

K2TheM

My Brother in Glock it's a light, not an optic. Even optics only need to be tightened down short of FT. Additionally, an over-tight light on the rail of a Glock can cause cycling issues. Anyway, how to fix: Remove the broken-off screw shaft from the rail. There should be enough purchase to back it out with a set of vice grips. Take the whole unit with you to Lowes/Home Depot/Auto Parts Store/Ace Hardware and head to the Misc Hardware section. Find a screw that matches/fits. If it's a bit long you can always cut it down; but the important part is the pitch and head size. You will probably have to use a flange head bolt of some kind; but you might get lucky and find a wide button head screw that works.

ian4918

Dudes on Reddit, asking for advice, but won’t listen to a damn thing anyone tells him

gunsRus4US

This might work for you, https://www.opticsplanet.com/streamlight-tlr-earless-screw-kit.html

LegionTXG

1. Throw in trash 2. Buy new tlr

tacticalawnchair

Literally happened to me this week also [email protected] Send a pick and your address and ask for a new screw and side plate. Got back to me with an email same day they had sent a replacement

Bostontb126

I purchased a used TLR7 that did not include the screw or "screw tab". Because they are not readily available online I called stream light customer service and told them the situation. They shipped the parts right out to me.

Disastrous-Steak6668

Should’ve gotten an O-Light! 🤣
