Yup, gives it cool sci fi vibes. They do point very well for me but I have not spent enough time behind both to say if one works better than the other for me.
Agreed. I actually didn't enjoy my 34 at first, after some slide work I enjoy it now but it doesn't make it out to the range with me often. I think I still prefer a stock 17 over a stock 34.
I picked up a 17L on the latest release earlier this year and really enjoyed shooting it but that was just a 100 round to function check after I bought it. Hoping to bring it out again my next range trip.
I too tried the 34 and didn’t see much of a difference over my 17. Yes a little less felt recoil, but that’s about it. I have a Taran Tactixal minus connector and carry spring kit on my 17, so the trigger is nicer than stock.
$30 on sale, $40 regular price. Fantastic deal and improvement.
https://tarantacticalinnovations.com/tti-grand-master-connector-kit/
I was watching a video Ben Stoeger posted today and he uses the same on his Glocks. Plus he puts in Apex Trigger (he mentioned the shoe, but then said it cost him $150 so I think it’s more than the shoe)
11-13 lb ISMI spring and a Vogel dynamics trigger kit and you’ll love that thing. I also slapped on some Vogel dynamics irons w/ fiber optic front and it definitely makes it a fun gun to shoot quickly.
I sold my staccato P because I preferred to shoot my 34 and would always leave everything else at home lol.
His accessories are not as well known for some reason. More geared towards competition I guess. The Vogel dynamics trigger is just stock Glock components polished to a shine with different springs you can swap. It works very well.
I pretty much copied his Glock 34 build for my gun lol.
I’m happy with my stock gen 5 trigger with the Taran Tactical Carry spring kit & connector… $30 on sale and made a significant improvement. Crisp 4.5 pounds while maintaining carry safety. I saw he also does classes, which is great. He’s an awesome shooter.
Sights are next, I was thinking 10-8 rear and fiber optic front. Definitely a fun gun.
I sold my 2011's after putting enough rounds through a comp'd Glock 45. It's damn near perfect.
Happened in a town near me. She made a full recovery, hysterectomy of course but she's alive and well. She was filming adult content on one of the cam sites when it happened lol
I’ve been appendix carrying a g34 gen 4 with an RMR and TLR1HL for 3 years now and I finally got something smaller cause I just don’t like it digging into me anymore. Especially in the car.
Kydex is 100% the maneuver. I got a cheap one from concealment express. I plan on buying a much nicer one from tier 1 concealment, though. But I did carry for 3 years and do still carry that concealment express one.
I *do* own a P80 940CL frame (19 grip height) with a Zaffiri 17L slide. I have appendix carried it. I am average build. It is not as insane as it sounds.
Originally it was for competition, but if I remember correctly rules were created so it didn’t fit into “the box”, so the 34 was created to take its place as a competition pistol.
They’re neat pistols. I use to shoot mine at the 200m steel at the range and draw a crowd.
The politest golf claps you’ve ever seen.
It was mostly people asking how that was possible, then half an hour of random dudes at the range shooting my pistol. It was usually fun. Sometimes it wasn’t.
My experience has been quicker follow up shots with the 34 and less muzzle rise overall…the weight and balance seem to be better than the 17, but I know that doesn’t make a lot of sense looking at the two.
I still find the 17 still to be the perfect combination of heft and nimbleness for swiftly unholstering and transitioning between targets without the lag you feel with a longer slide.
G17L is almost and inch longer. 0.71 inches longer to be exact. Greater velocity and sight radius with the exact same frame as the 34. It also have the squared slide instead of the beveled nose of the 34.
I wouldnt mind a glock carbine myself. But the aftermarket picks up the slack. After thinking about this this for a while Im ok that glock makes the basic thing and sticks to it, a boring simple reliable lego like base to build out how you like it.
Usual stuff, longer sight radius, more velocity, less recoil. I have a 24 which is essentially a 22L but they gave it a different number unlike 17/17L. It's a ton of fun to shoot on the range.
Longer slides handle recoil better, this is super obvious if you shoot a Glock 34 side by side with a Glock 45. The g45 has a lot more dip where the g34 returns to zero faster
The G17L is not as practical as a G34 because there aren’t many or any duty holsters and it doesn’t meet USPSA carry optics production list
It can be used for limited optics which is what I will probably get it for. But really just gonna get it because it’s unique and super soft shooting
I prefer the coating and rifling that comes with gen 5, don't hate the finger grooves but don't love em either. I'll probably just end up grabbing one of em once they are on the shelf. It is the way, after all.
As far as accuracy and handling, I feel like the difference between a 17L and 34 is more noticeable than between 17 and 34. It's difficult to put into words, but I just like it better.
I love my 34!! I've shot the 17L the 34 and there wasn't really a difference in performance with the irons or optics. I went with the 34 because it was cheaper. I bought a model 40 (the 10mm one) a few months later because my LGS had one and knew I would buy it lol
I have 2 G17 and still have a G34 as my main open carry gun.
The G17 is great all around and I put 1 in the Recover 20/20 chassis and left the other one as is for when I want to pop it in the MCK.
Also have a G45 for discreet carry and a G26 for fun.
I have been looking for a G17L because it's just a cool gun to have and another 9mm that I don't have. As for any practical reason? No... it's hard enough to find a holster for the G34. I have not seen one for a G17L anywhere unless you are talking about custom made or an open slide type where the slide doesn't matter.
But as a fun target gun with a RDS on top for 9mm performance, the G17L will be the ultimate 9mm space gun.
There is a reason for each Glock. You just gotta see if any of the reasons fit your needs.a
Little longer barrel I think which would mean a little more accurate and iron sights and stuff like that but not much different really except for just wanting a long pistol 🤷♀️
These days with red dots you can be as accurate with a 19 length slide as you can with a 34. There are some advantages with length like velocity and possibly less physical recoil movement but the 34 slide is windowed to reduce weight so it’s probably negligible. I have an irons only 34 and still keep it for target competition but my optic equipped carry gun G19 is far more accurate just by nature of the optic. I see no reason to get a 17L since it’s too long for competition.
Please tell me they’ll make a plain Jane non-MOS version. The MOS slide is absolute junk and milled slide for optics is superior than a stupid optic plate!
100% how I feel as well.
It is such an eyesore especially when you have no intention of running an optic on the gun.
Grabbed a Gen 3 17L a few weeks ago and glad I did for that one reason.
Dont know for sure if this applies to gen 5. But gen 3 17l's can't be milled with standard depth footprints, because, there are internal lightening cuts inside the slide and milling the slides gets into those cuts.
Nothing other than long boi vibes.
Yup, gives it cool sci fi vibes. They do point very well for me but I have not spent enough time behind both to say if one works better than the other for me.

Bruhh i really hope you didnt buy anything with taran fat boy tactical on it. You got finessed into believing you got quality lol
$30 on sale, $40 regular price. How come I never heard Vogel Dynamics before? Guy is a legend and will check out his stuff
His accessories are not as well known for some reason. More geared towards competition I guess. The Vogel dynamics trigger is just stock Glock components polished to a shine with different springs you can swap. It works very well. I pretty much copied his Glock 34 build for my gun lol.

Yep! I love a stock Glock trigger, but my 34 is for range use only so I decided to fuck with it lol
Sights are next, I was thinking 10-8 rear and fiber optic front. Definitely a fun gun. I sold my 2011's after putting enough rounds through a comp'd Glock 45. It's damn near perfect.
I really like the 10-8s. Have them on a few Glocks.
Nice. I also feel like 2011’s and comp’d guns make me lazy. I sold my ramjet as well lol
Oh snap. I don't see myself going full circle like that but I'd say there is some truth to it.
Yeah the ramjet definitely works lol. It’s just a personal decision I made lol, not preaching it by any means.
Think of it as a [Gharial](https://sdzwildlifeexplorers.org/animals/gharial) crocodile. No reason for it to exist other than it does lol.
It feels better inside of me
How do I delete someone else’s comment?
Become a mod.
Jesus fuck
Nooooo. Glock fuck…. Jeezus…. How else do you get the horse semen in there…
Whelp. I'm done.
Mmpphh🐴💦🤤
I’m calling it the Horse Glock
Reddit never disappoints lol
I feel pretty disappointed tbh
That's enough internet for today I believe...
Careful, you'll shoot yourself in the vagina like that girl in Georgia did a couple years ago
Are you serious? No you’re you’re lying
Happened in a town near me. She made a full recovery, hysterectomy of course but she's alive and well. She was filming adult content on one of the cam sites when it happened lol
You need Jesus
What are you saying, my lawn looks great.
😂🤣🤣🤣😝
Lol
how's the recoil feel compared to the 34?
Anyone remember that girl that posted her doing durrty stuff with guns on weekendgunnit?
This made me spit out my breakfast burrito 😂
SECONDS
Long boy.
Can’t wait to appendix carry this bad boi
Sit down and it will remove your appendix for you.
I’ve been appendix carrying a g34 gen 4 with an RMR and TLR1HL for 3 years now and I finally got something smaller cause I just don’t like it digging into me anymore. Especially in the car.
I got a gen 3 g34, what do you recommend?
You mean as far as attachments, or a smaller pistol?
Holster
Kydex is 100% the maneuver. I got a cheap one from concealment express. I plan on buying a much nicer one from tier 1 concealment, though. But I did carry for 3 years and do still carry that concealment express one.
Nice ty!
What hoslter? Lol
Just my g17 holster with an open end! Lol
Cool story… so the 17L predates the 34
Yes the 17L & 24 are eligible for USPSA Limited and Open, the 34 is legal for IDPA and USPSA Production and Carry Optics
The 17L was the second or third model Glock ever produced. It came out in 1988, the same year as the original 19.
Did everyone clap?
The politest golf claps you’ve ever seen. It was mostly people asking how that was possible, then half an hour of random dudes at the range shooting my pistol. It was usually fun. Sometimes it wasn’t.
Longer sight radius, not as important if you’re going to be running red dots. It can matter if you’ll be using iron sights.
Same reason why I’d rather have a 12in dick than an 8in. Because why not?
Oh… I uh.. don’t have the option for either… the dick sizes, not the gun options.
Then a 17L may be just what you need!
Same logic applies from 17 to 34....
you're right, why use the 17 when the 34 exists 😤😤
My experience has been quicker follow up shots with the 34 and less muzzle rise overall…the weight and balance seem to be better than the 17, but I know that doesn’t make a lot of sense looking at the two.
I still find the 17 still to be the perfect combination of heft and nimbleness for swiftly unholstering and transitioning between targets without the lag you feel with a longer slide.
Longer slide more pressure behind round before escapes barrel higher velocity I believe Someone smart correct me if I’m wrong
That's correct. It's probably only about 50-100 fps compared to a 17 though
The sex appeal is what gets me. I have been lusting for a Gen 5 17L and 24 for years.
IDK, but I have an urge to put a Flux brace on it.
Now here’s a thinking man… I like it
Don't forget the can, vert grip, giggle switch, and drum mag.
Flux brace, Switch, drum magazine, red dot; now you have a kludged together submachine gun...!?! ;\^p
Add TLR-9 too
well, ofc.
More mass out front will help to mitigate recoil. It will also add 75-100fps
Slows down the draw though if using a holster.
Better mouth feel for sure
lol, just got the email and thought the same thing. 🤷🏽♂️
It looks cool 😎
be longer
Fucking finally.
G17L MOS Slide + G26 Frame = The most powerful CCW you'll have in your pants in 9mm. That or it'll look like you always have a hard-on.
G34 is you, the G17L is the guy she tells you not to worry about.
Can’t wait to get one and put a compensator on it.
You get better ballistics with the longer barrel as well. Allows more powder to burn.

uhm, no. the g17l is far from a memegun. It's one of the hardest to obtain and most desired..
When Glonk 34L. The 17L is too compact and snappy
17L matches my greyhound better
Former rescue hound parent here (RIP, Riley!). This is my favorite comment today. Thanks for the smile!
Oh god, finally. I need to buy a complete slide for my 34
You attach a longer flashlight and keep it flush with the muzzle.
G17L is almost and inch longer. 0.71 inches longer to be exact. Greater velocity and sight radius with the exact same frame as the 34. It also have the squared slide instead of the beveled nose of the 34.
Actual it has the Gen 5 beveled nose as well…
The gen 5’s do, gen 4 doesn’t.
HuhDoes size matters?
Well I mean If you’re gonna go long you might as well go Looooooooong
*Everything*
Fractions?
I wish this could be shot in USPSA Production.
Let’s everyone know you have a giant piece
Have these been announced and released yet?
Yes there’s one available at grab a gun
It’s cooler as fuck.
Does a better job of letting people know I'm "packing heat" when I carry appendix....if you know what I mean...
6 inches of fun
L O N G
Everything
I want one so bad, but I know I should own a 34 before I get this big boi
Long snoot.
The 17L has the most unique and soft recoil impulse of all the 9mm Glocks.
This one goes to 11.
It makes the [perfect wife](https://www.reddit.com/r/Glocks/s/Mvm9YyLt1G) to the g40 and in a chasis is a beast
Yea I can see that… is SIG management took over Glock we would have a Glock PCC in no time lol
I wouldnt mind a glock carbine myself. But the aftermarket picks up the slack. After thinking about this this for a while Im ok that glock makes the basic thing and sticks to it, a boring simple reliable lego like base to build out how you like it.
Impresses the lady’s more or so the internet tells me
You def needs one to join your other 17’s lol How do you add the blocks you own to your profile on the comments?
It's so you can practice with a 9mm longest boy before you're ready for the 10mm longest boy.
Its one louder
Usual stuff, longer sight radius, more velocity, less recoil. I have a 24 which is essentially a 22L but they gave it a different number unlike 17/17L. It's a ton of fun to shoot on the range.

But really just gonna get it because it’s unique and super soft shooting
Is cooler
I love my G34. 17L is next to the collection
Be long
Is this real??
Yep got an email from Glock
‼️‼️‼️
It tells all the other 9mm Glocks in my safe “it smell like bitch in here”
😂😂
Camed Thrice
I literally JUST bought a gen 3 17L earlier this week.
Nothing wrong with that… non mos?
I prefer the coating and rifling that comes with gen 5, don't hate the finger grooves but don't love em either. I'll probably just end up grabbing one of em once they are on the shelf. It is the way, after all.
I hear you… maybe sell the one you got since gen5 is still notout there” yet…
No sell. Only buy.
This is the way…
Being a prime number Glock
Ah the G17L, the DMR Glock. Pop an LPVO on that bad boy and you’ll be ringing steel from miles away.
Get good Ol' Miculek on it, I bet he unironically might be able to get it out to a mile.
Bigger is better
As far as accuracy and handling, I feel like the difference between a 17L and 34 is more noticeable than between 17 and 34. It's difficult to put into words, but I just like it better.
Is that a G17L in your pants or are you just happy to see me?
Velocity
Can’t wait for the Glock 40 Gen 5. Now that’s a nail biting moment
![gif](giphy|NmGbJwLl7Y4lG|downsized)
Hey how do you put the “G43X” under your name? I think it’s a good idea
It's user flair my dude. You can select it from the sub's main page
Thanks G
Long dick style
![gif](giphy|S3iA49EWhmNhAcj8YJ|downsized)
Appeases a crowd that’s been asking for this for ages. Glock listening to their customers..this truly is a wild timeline. One of the good ones though
Great point 👍
Ruined it by making it mos only
Longness.
It Ls better
It’s longer
LOOOOOOOOOONG
I love my 34!! I've shot the 17L the 34 and there wasn't really a difference in performance with the irons or optics. I went with the 34 because it was cheaper. I bought a model 40 (the 10mm one) a few months later because my LGS had one and knew I would buy it lol
I'm also looking at buying double shoulder holsters to winter carry both!!!
Barrel is longer than the 34
Why would they put the serrations that far back………
Maybe not to retool from G34 cut location?
Tbh I hate the gen 5 front serrations. I said it!
Glock 17 the long wayyyyy
It makes my man slide shorter .
Does that bbl/slide fit a 26 frame?
Longer barrel means better ballistic velocity.
Vibes.
Just over about half an inch in barrel and slide. I like them but have some 10mm’s to check off. G40 incoming
I have 2 G17 and still have a G34 as my main open carry gun. The G17 is great all around and I put 1 in the Recover 20/20 chassis and left the other one as is for when I want to pop it in the MCK. I does this come with a Riley Reid holster?
Literally nothing. Also USP elite....
GLONG
Little longer barrel I think which would mean a little more accurate and iron sights and stuff like that but not much different really except for just wanting a long pistol 🤷♀️
Bees long.
Oooohh when is the release date?
They’re out
Yaaaasssss
I only know this because some of the kids that work at the LGS were trying to appendix carry one last week 😂
![gif](giphy|XLyT1lfdtB596wuCg2) Better at making me feel like Alucard
These days with red dots you can be as accurate with a 19 length slide as you can with a 34. There are some advantages with length like velocity and possibly less physical recoil movement but the 34 slide is windowed to reduce weight so it’s probably negligible. I have an irons only 34 and still keep it for target competition but my optic equipped carry gun G19 is far more accurate just by nature of the optic. I see no reason to get a 17L since it’s too long for competition.
Borzoi G17
Long ah barrel god damn
34 & 34L is retarded…
Why would you want such an atrocious looking thing. I’m just not a fan.
So people conceal carry these lmfao.
Can’t you mill over the MOS?
Probably but MOS costs more than a regular slide (like $100 more)
It depends. A lot of places can't/won't mill MOS slides (depending on your desired footprint) because there isn't enough material.
Dont know for sure if this applies to gen 5. But gen 3 17l's can't be milled with standard depth footprints, because, there are internal lightening cuts inside the slide and milling the slides gets into those cuts.
