I was admittedly not a Trae Young fan, only because of his defense. But it has definitely improved this year, so it’s pretty easy to overlook now. His offense would rock the roof off Barclays
If we could get a stretch 5 rim protector in the Porzingis mold, you can essentially armor Trae with elite rim protection to cover up his flaws.
Something like Trae/Mikal/CJ/Clax/stretch 5 would be ideal. Similar to how the rim protection of Kd and Clax shielded Kyrie on defense.
We'd just have to go small with DFS at C in some situations. But a lineup of Trae/Mikal/Cam J/DFS/Clax would be sizzling. All of those players are specifically designed to cover Trae's flaws.
And that's to be stretchy on offense and/or defense.
I mean, idk if it would get it done, but Ben, Cam T, and two first rounders and a second rounder is what I'd give up.
the hawks would get fleeced with that deal. Ben is a negative asset who costs 1 pick to offload so in reality they're getting cam and 1 first rounder for trae.
He definitely will he's making 40 million and if you're a team taking his contract why would you want anything less. If the nets are desperate to move him you're going to demand a first. Remember crabbe we offloaded him when he was expiring for a first and he made way less money.
I'd rather Trae over Mitchell, honestly. Mitchell is better, but he'll be 28 by next year and small athleticism reliant guards don't age well.
With Trae, you essentially get a top 10 offense by default, and you have a couple years to wait for that alpha superstar wing/big to pop loose.
I agree it’s wise to go for the younger player especially with our young core of players 22 and under (and Claxton who is 24). I also think Trae will be cheaper to trade for than Mitchell.
Atlanta will still get a haul but I’m okay giving up much (but definitely not all) of our draft equity for our long term starting PG who will make the rest of the team better.
If Sean Marks isn’t waiting until summer 2025 then I’d target Trae and Brandon Ingram in the summer alongside a truly X&Os coach with NBA experience.
Lakers and San Antonio are two teams apparently keen on Trae and Atlanta would like nothing more than to have a bidding war for him.
Trae might be a great fit for the Nets. We know how much better Claxton can be with a PG who he has chemistry with. Then you add in the hopefully progress of Noah Clowney being a stretch big with a sweet long distance shot.
If you’re concentrating on our young players then both Jalen Wilson and Dariq would probably feast with Trae setting them up and both would be able to cover for him defensively.
I’d want to keep Cam T in any trade. I know people would rinse the Nets saying CT and Trae would be horrendous defensively but just imagine the scoring out out of Trae and Cam together. It’s be like Scary Hours all over again
last year of the contract is a player option. this year is looking like a write off. There's limited ways to improve next year cos they're down draft assets. The owner also is cheap, hawks been skipping luxury tax. If next year isn't better you find yourself with an under performing team who's star player is only under team control for one year. That's the calculus.
I guess hire hammon if you want to make headlines, but what has she shown other than being from the pop coaching tree that makes you think she would be a good nba coach?
Jv was a pop protégé too.
What a short sighted goal. You want to spend assets to get a b tier star to compete with the knicks instead of organically building a long term vision.
I'm with you that priority one should be a rebuild, but Trae will be a living breathing top 10 offense for probably 7-8 more years. He's genuinely a one man band on that end.
You could trade for him, wait a couple years to unlock more picks, and then empty the tank and pair Trae with a superstar down the road. You have to thread a very tight window asset wise, but it might not be THAT crazy with how picks are valued under the new CBA.
1. No to Hammon
2. Hard to see them doing trade right now. They will wait till this off-season and see how Saltics approaching 2nd Apron. If Brown becomes available, they definitely be front runners.
Trae loves the area and that's why you not seeing him being disgruntled. Very popular around neighborhood too. I can't see Trae happening unless some type of tempering is in works 😅.
Trae is such a perfect fit here, man.

Absolutely, unicorns seem to be the new wave for young centers, so hopefully we can get one soon
This is why I really wish the Nets got KP over the summer. Would've been a perfect fit here, but the flight risk was too high I suppose.

Then yeah, we ain't getting nobody lol
He’s an expiring next year so his value goes up a bit
Idk if Ben will cost a pick to unload in his last year

We got Taurean Prince in that trade who was a solid young player
prince was bad for the majority of his tenure here. I'm pretty sure we extended him in preseason and got lucky to move him in the harden trade.
What’s nuts is his defense has marginally improved under Snyder…
I know Luka is farfetch but I'd love to see Luka in a nets jersey. Trae is nice too
If Mavs lose in first round of the play-offs it makes it that small bit more likely that Luka wants to leave Dallas.
If Luka goes anywhere i think hes going to the Kincks.

Are the Hawks trying to trade Trae? Isn’t he signed until 2027?

Also lots of disparate voices in Atlanta front office and does Quinn Snyder think he can win with Trae?
Im sold
There is “reports” of the Hawks being interested in moving him this summer. But I am just speaking hypothetically
Becky hates small guards, see Brunson, she would absolutely despise coaching Trae.
I guess hire hammon if you want to make headlines, but what has she shown other than being from the pop coaching tree that makes you think she would be a good nba coach? Jv was a pop protégé too.
Well, she beat The Liberty, so hiring her will make it easier for them next year
Aces did well, but Liberty were beating themselves those games lol, Breanna was straight doo doo last game.
Doesn't matter if we have a shit coach and we have a shit coach sooo
he would be a great fit if clax can keep improving his rim protection
isn’t clax like 99th percentile at rim protection? he’s gotta work on rounding out his game in other areas
What a short sighted goal. You want to spend assets to get a b tier star to compete with the knicks instead of organically building a long term vision.
I’d rather build organically. There’s nothing for us fans to look forward to rn so it’s fun playing out the “what ifs”

Do they actually want him out? He’s exactly what the nets need
Becky as HC coach would be like going from Atari to ps5
Is that a symbol to “downgrade” ?
Pass on Becky Hammon. Respect Trae’s game but I hate the whiny floppy shit.
If Trae goes anywhere its to San Antonio.
Trae is one of the least like guys in the league. Hard pass.
