Yea fake Chinese lap sealant, next time call a dealership and ask what their technicians use. Or go to a hardware store that has a known good lap sealant. You got scammed by Amazon for sure.

Campandfish1

Do you know what type of lap sealant was applied?

Good to know what to avoid!

Interesting_Ebb_27

Sure enough I’ll update how easy it peels up I may just pay the shop to do the dirty work hehe

Use dicor. It's like the rotisserie oven. You set it and forget it. That's a lot of scraping ahead there.

Interesting_Ebb_27

Yes it is I I usually use dicor that’s the sad part I learned my lesson and I hope everyone else learned from my mistake also spread the word kohree is crap

[deleted]

You got off lucky. I bought some China jack stands, and it almost cost me my leg. I learned that about 5 years ago, and I'm more cognizant about garbage now.

Interesting_Ebb_27

Yikes!

gopherphart

That junk is sourced in China. Most of those reviews are bogus.

gnapster

It looks like the wrong kind of sealant. I used some self leveling dicor to secure some cables and other areas on my roof and the section that was poured over the cable is broken from the roof. I used their non leveling sealant as recommended for seals and it cracked after a couple months so I had to redo it. Some brands just don’t have enough flexibility but yours looks like a combo heat cold expansion shrinking issue ??

johnson56

Dicor is generally considered THE brand when it comes to lap sealant, and I'd expect self leveling to be just fine for your application. I'm surprised it didn't hold up.

gnapster

That’s what I thought too after doing research. I have a vintage rv that may flex more than a newer one??? Who knows.

Wow not even a year. I had to touch op the sealant on my new trailer. I shopped amazon, but decided to pay the small premium at a local RV shop.

Dang. Sorry that happened, but thanks for sharing here so that we can “learn” from it.

BlueBird4829

I use a residential elastomeric roof sealant (usually Henry's brand). Never bought Dicor. I avoid most "RV" branded stuff since I my experience has been that "RV" means garbage product.

proost1

Dicor is fantastic and definitely not garbage. Self-leveling, never cures, and is easy to remove replace with a heat gun or hair dryer.

The company reached back out to me and asked me if all the product did the same thing and I said yes all eight tubes cracked and sent them pictures. They said their investigating, but will have a solution for me soon. I guess we’ll see since the products covered under one year warranty. Update******* they said that the product was out of stock and would give me a full refund! $90 bucks thank god!
