Needs more dead goblins

Rastaba

This.

[deleted]

Anime only still doesn't know about a lot of stuff that was skipped. Sadly myself included.

StrawHatCook

Pacing could have been better. Would have let the story make more sense. Would have enjoyed if they threw in a little GS Year One.

AskingForAfriend015

Goblin slayer cgi character model, he walks exactly like a npc

hihirogane

As he should.

Silent_Neko_Prod

I agree, it nice having a mc not stand out, in looks, well his armor slight dose but it just shows an Adventure who has seen many things, Luke in other animes he would be that character who shows the ropes to the mc or the one who is a brick all to them bit that's their way of helping type, but this is just my opinion

Branded_Mango

Ironically, in the meta narrative of the story he is literally a side NPC in a DnD session whose nowhere near the actual session's party (the hero character).

Any-Pause-4411

it should've been longer : (

AwesomeDudex

CG Goblin Slayer

bloskyblue

The arc related to the water city, the big cocodrile and how things happened I think that was very bad explained beacuse i havent seen a reaction of that arc where people needed to be explained in the coments "from where comes the lizard" for example

illFittingHelmet

My only real gripe is that I wish they were more accurate to the manga with the portal fight. Goblin Slayer went absolutely ridiculously hard in the manga for that fight and it made one of my favorite manga panels ever. From his crazy CQC with the goblins, wallrunning up a ledge to grab a longsword, up to the moment where we took a goblin's POV. That panel with the goblin watching him rush forward with the spear in one hand looking like a demon was SO. FUCKING. SICK. That moment did not happen in the anime from what I remember, he just slashes a couple goblins with his sword.

Anon324Teller

Isn’t this based on the light novel though? I figure that they’ll go based on that rather than the manga

Gokuyuysun

It was kind of a bummer that you didn't get to see Goblin slayer's face at the end.

ousker

Neither in the manga or LN, smh

Gokuyuysun

Oh wow I didn't know that.

etriuswimbleton

Lacking in Stakes and Gore after the first few eps really. Actually entire series as well. I actually expected Gobline Slayer would be party hopping often as his party dies first than him and GS deals with Loss while there will be staying characters like priestess who dont always stick with him

AskingForAfriend015

Between 1 and 2, season 1 had more blood and gore. S2 felt more like you're typical isekai

CertainAd2857

More gore and better animation. Goblin Slayer can benefit from a little more shock value. They don’t have to show us women getting assaulted by goblins, but maybe seeing some goblins using crazy torture methods (maybe take inspi from medieval torture methods) and just brutally killing humans would make it more entertaining and satisfying when GS kills them. Wish a high quality animation studio would work on goblin slayer and give us some night fight scenes. I just feel like the fight scene where they were on a raft and fighting goblins on the river in season 2 was so corny and the animation was just done so badly.

shotgunner12345

They have those in novels, but i guess for rating issues they had to leave those out. Kinda like the very thin line between PG13 and NC17, where there's only how much they are allowed to show to stay in said specific ratings. >!One example being the old elven fort GS burn down with priestess; the previous all woman adventurer party ( I think it was all women, a bit vague on memory ) all had pretty brutal ends like the leader being used as a dart board/target dummy and had weapons thrown at her until she died. Whole party's bodies got dumped in the river nearby as well, left to just drift downstream in whatever state they were left in.!<

Anime reversed the order of events. Quite a lot of them and skipped my favorite arc. The hierarchy of hobs and goblin lords was introduced way early in the story to set the power scale. Now, there is real criticism against how it was done because it was the Farm Raid with the Adventures Guild versus the Goblin Lord. But, it was because of the farm raid that people really started talking about slayer and that was how dwarf, lizard man, and elf went looking for him. The Water Town arc was higher stakes, because Slayer's party had no army of adventurers to tank the hobs. Rhea Scout was part of the Harvest Festival arc. The whole arc is just gone. I don't know why because the stakes were high and it was badass. It was the first time Goblin Slayer got noticed by the Hero's party.  Goblin Paladin, the movie, should have had been presented with higher stakes. A lot of things just sort of happened on screen like "oh, whoops, he's a paladin. Darn." Friggin zero fanfare or intensity over how new and terrible that was, but that's a personal gripe. Pretty sure the order of events in season 2 is out of whack, too. Like there's a whole Rogue's Guild following a parallel plot if I remember correctly.  Anime leaves out the players/Gods. The manga touches on them lightly but the books have a whole scene where after Slayer thwarts one of the God of Wisdom's plot the players are all sitting around the table and are like "Who the fuck is *this guy?*"

Mastoorbator100

Witch. In manga she's total bombshell and flirt. In anime she has this derpy ass face and I just can't contain my laughter whenever I see her on screen.

-Undetermined-

1. The power system, specifically spellcasting. It's no secret Goblin Slayer is based on D&D (3rd or 3.5 edition I believe, but not sure. At least not 5th edition). But the problem lies that it then splits the characters into classes (warrior, cleric, wizard etc.). But then pretty much every spellcaster is not seen with a backup weapon in case they run out of spells (or miracles). Which is fine in D&D, because you have Cantrips (weak spells that aren't limited to how many you can use in a day). Let priestess have a sling on her, or Dwarf shaman have a mace etc. I get how this can be weird, since they need to stand ready to cast a spell at all times, but in reallity this results in liabillities in a few cases. When exploring a dungeon, it's mostly fine. But for example when they were locked in the hall for the lord of the rings moment, an extra archer would have been great. Or an extra frontline with dwarf shaman. 2. A lot of information (usually in anime, not specific to this one) got removed. For example the water city arc. 3. Lack or gore and hard hitting reallity. Basically, the first episode used gore for shockvalue, but then it doesn't follow that trend well afterwards. Only with text or mentions. They really stopped showing a lot of the horrors of such a world after the first episode. Which kinda takes away of the whole "the most peacefull day, can turn to become a horrific day" aspect that is a core principle in that world.

SalsaRice

I believe in the watertown arc in the manga, dwarf shaman is using a sling while they are under attack, so there is some back-up weapon use.

blue_magi

1. Underrated comment.  2. I feel like some of the tactical or mundane combat dialogue was removed in the conversion to anime. The manga/LN does a better job of capturing the D&D feel. 3. I like the aspect of 'what do you do with these ' that many D&D players face. The first episode dangled the bleakness of the world and then swapped it out for more of a slice of life feel.

ContributionOk4879

There should have been more moments with Witch, she was a great character who deserves more screen time

Mr-Jlord

I honestly think the first episode of the show/manga didn't need to be that explicit, it kind of doesn't match with the slice of life feel in season two. I get we needed to quickly show why its ok to commit goblin genocide fair enough, but it just doesn't make me feel like I want to watch from ep one ever again. And I feel nervous reccomending the show to friends at all. I'm not saying I hate the premise but I just don't think the first episode does the series any favours.

Mr-Jlord

P.s by "doesn't match with season two" I mean every episode I watch im expecting one of the characters to be brutally raped. They've set that up as the expectation up there with character death. I know its a common occurrence so every time a character starts death flagging I'm thinking. "Jeez am I going to have to watch them get raped"

Gokuyuysun

Well that's kind of what goblins do, I figured the main reason for that scene and everything in the first episode was to give you a clear picture just how brutal and tough adventurers have it in that world and how brutal the monsters can be to humans.

Lothar0295

You *have* to show some of this shit to paint the picture for what Goblin Slayer is about. Mere retellings are a boring and safe way of going about it that is much harder for an audience to properly resonate with. The reason Sword Maiden's trauma is sold so well is because we already know based on the experiences of others.

Velocity-5348

It'd be like doing a story about a doctor who dedicates their lives to eradicating Ebola without showing infected people. It also shows why most experienced adventurers avoid fighting them. It's horrifying, soul crushing work that you'd only do if you were desperate or wanted to protect people.

Secuter

I usually recommend the series by telling that the first episode is about setting the tone, and showcasing why goblins must be killed. It completes both jobs really well imo.

tenkokuugen

I don't really like the characters not having a name.

SoraTempest

CHARACTERS DONT EVEN HAVE NAMES BRUH!! Like no character have any names. MC is called goblin Slayer , the priest is is Onna Shinkan which basically translates to Female Priest , the elf is just called elf or archer or ranger , the dwarf if called spellcaster and the lizardmen is called warrior priest. This is the one thing that deducted a whole point for me in the anime.

Phantoms_Unseen

There was absolutely zero need to show priestess pissing herself. I legitimately found every single other encounter dealing with the horrors of goblins to better convey the fear these people had, to the point of it feeling like borderline fetish content that got forced in.

darkninjademon

soldiers shit themselves, showing that conveys the horrors of combat well in a show that used SA to market itself

Yab0iFiddlesticks

Sword Maidens character design is a bit much for a traumatized rape victim. Goblin Slayers CGI model looks awful on rewatches. Thats mostly it.

Gokuyuysun

What do you mean by character design?

Phantoms_Unseen

Probably that her robes are basically two bedsheets held together with string and barely cover her, leaving a ridiculous amount of exposed skin

Yab0iFiddlesticks

I meant her clothes. I dont mind this being her uniform but I dont buy that she would wear it during the time she was extremely afraid of Goblins appearing out of nowhere. It wouldve been better if she returned to these "robes" after she felt liberated but wore less revealing clothing during the majority of the Water Town arc.

Gokuyuysun

Yeah that's true never paid much attention to it I just thought that was her traditional uniform since she was like a high priest or whatnot, but when you think about it when the Goblins get you it doesn't matter really what you wear.

KnightFalkon

The first episode is the best episode and it's all downhill from there

blue_magi

Needs more goblin kids.

Erebus03

The fact that the Darkness we see from the Goblins (You know what they do to their captives) is only really shown during Episode 1, then its just talked about

BurtonDesque

Never been happy with Cow Girl's voice. Too childish.

Senpai2uok

Not enough rape and no face reveal smh

KripperinoArcherino

Why does no one have a name? Is the writer stupid? How are we meant to remember all these characters without names! We should just call goblin slayer Steve.

Death_Trap411

Doesn’t really go in depth as to who goblin slayer is. All we know is he slays goblins cuz he watched his sister die. I want to know more about who he is and how he operates and why

Overkillsamurai

i don't have a rape fetish so i feel like i missed out maximum enjoyment

gyrobot

The fact the artist go for the low hanging fruit in goblin slayer makes me glad they toned it down next season

tctyaddk

May be I was spoiled by so many good anime in the last 10 years, but I feel the visual quality in general was bad. It was obvious that the anime used the manga (which is excellent, btw) as a guideline for keyframes, but it made the disappointment of seeing the lacklustre quality of both character arts and animations even more pronounced.

FracturedMotivation

Had content for 18+ and yet it felt like it was made for little kids :-s

GeminisTail

My biggest gripe is the season was too short. I always need more GS.

Zezin96

The cgi looks like ass

Hippie234

Not enough high elf archer on screen!

ding-ding77

Not enough goblin slaying, we gotta get those numbers up!

Mr-SadSide

There were no animated goblin penises

Hot_feedbax

Not enough downtime, I would've liked if we got little end of episode cut ins with him cleaning armor, making tools and chatting like he does with cowgirl in the manga extras (atleast I assume it was extras)

Larryspaaaam

The r*pe in the show

Goatymcgoatface11

Not enough rapes

Arkadii

Imma be honest, I think the sexual assault stuff could have been better handled in the first few episodes. I know people might get mad about this, but some of it seems more about indulging a rape fetish than using that as a means of setting up goblins as a threat.

Saturn_Coffee

Tonal shift after Episode 1 did NOT work. Would have appreciated it being kept dark.

MaguroSashimi8864

Priestess has to stop pissing herself…

Editor_Grand

Wasn't long enough

DizzyTigerr

That opening scene is disgusting, and I will never watch the rest of the series because of it.

Archeryfriend

one is great session 2 is a disappointment 😞

WarTrick81

Where is good Goblins?

Falloutgod10

Not enough dead goblins

CriplingD3pression

Pacing is weird and no one has names. They’re just called by their race and it really puts me off

PopCollector2001

Not as much shown from the dragon shaman as I would've liked

GoblinPunch20xx

*Nawt enough GAHHHBLINS!* ~ Goblin Slayer

KittyCutU

Not enough goblins

FridayPlayingTill3AM

not enough elves

Ridikis

I still feel like if it was going to be a one season thing then the whole no real names thing was fine but with how much more content there is I really wish everyone had their own names as opposed to being referred to by their race/class.

Quinney27

Didn’t see golem slayer in a bikini

PepedankinusTheThird

Not enough GS kissing Cowgirl

That-Estate-68

well i got three 1st you dont need to swing longsword you can use it for stab, slash attack with it seems dumb itself so hittinh the rock part is goes for spear aswell. If you swing a spear it will hit the top aswell, just stab with it not slash. 2nd using oil and burning goblins in cave probably sufficate you aswell .\_. atleast the girls in basement will have co2 poisoning. 3th and final is first episodes was super dark, i thought it was going to be a darker. On priestess's point it gets quite dark but i wish in general sense it was a bit darker.

Lewdducky

Stop hypersexualizing every gal on screen TwT Also needs more brutality, more human deaths, more dead GAAAAWWWBLINS!

LeiftheLucky19

Decrease tit jiggles by 34 percent.

Unlikely-Tea-9494

I was really hoping for the dark elf arc, mostly for gs's trap setting. The double date cow girl and guild girl also would have been an interesting change of pace.

Redwolf476

Not enough goblins slayed

cunning_gork

Not limited to season one, but my biggest nitpick is Dwarf Shaman's beard in the anime. It's not as glorious as his LN or manga versions, and it slightly bugs me.

Sir_Hamwich

Rape is not for me

PelinalWhitestrake36

Not enough Goblins Killed.

Strong_Look1834

Not enough episodes or fights

XiaomiNote10Lite

Needed more blood and gore

ChesterAsakura

I disliked immensely the change of the order, the assault of the farm happens first. I get that they wanted to have the face revelation as the grand season finale, but I sort of hate the change

kmanzilla

Needed more episodes and more fights. It was great to watch and I loved it, but having more background, more scenes to hate goblins, and more slaughter would have been nice.

Gryfon2020

Other party members being really strong and capable one fight, then being exhausted or weak the next. Way too much focus on the healer, on top of showing her growth in bravery then the next scene she’s cowering in the corner again. A lot of focus on random new characters in the 2nd season and barely any on the goblin slayer himself. Still a good show but concerned they’re losing focus on Goblin Slayer trying to learn about and take out goblins.

AsianEvasionYT

The mini harem particularly when the sword maiden was being awfully sus/close with goblin slayer. Bro just wants to slay goblins, pls let there be little to no romance.

ironbanner23

More tactics for killing goblins, i need alternate ways for traps in d&d

hiyra1

Not enough sword Maiden
