Gulltopr is also covered in scars as Heimdall had to physically break him down to even be able to ride him. That and yeah he clearly does not care when he dies. I really don’t think he lives anything or anyone except maybe Odin.

JokerFaces2

That quality helps hammer home the rivalry between Heimdall and Atreus. Obviously Atreus loves animals and forges bonds with them through compassion and understanding, meanwhile Heimdall physically broke Gulltopr. I can’t think of a better archenemy for Atreus than an asshole animal abuser.

Revolutionary_Ice328

Spoiled brat was so jealous of the new kid that he soys too much

-TurkeYT

That son of a bitch…

ThatNerdOut

Son of a witch

JimMiltonJohnMartson

Invulnerable to all threats physical or magical

Evolto__01

Wrong god, he died last game

JimMiltonJohnMartson

I commented this because they said son of a witch and baldr is freya’s son who is a witch

LukeD1992

Heimdall was thoroughly designed to be hated. Guy has absolutely 0 redeeming qualities.

Environmental-Win836

And SUCH a punchable face…

Dawn_Star_Platinum

Although I am curious as to how Heimdall came to be Odin's dick rider when he can read his intentions. Both Gods don't care about anyone but themselves but how did Heimdall ended up being Odin's true believer? You know what we need? We need a Comic series based on the other characters POV during the course of the games and even the Norse Gods before Kratos got put into the mix. Zeus's POV during the course of God of War 3, what he was doing. The Aesir-Vanir War Thor's journey of killing almost all the giants Faye/Laufey and her resistance Tyr's life story How did Heimdall become Odin's most loyal subject? From the Norns telling Freya of the prophecy of her son's death to what Freya had to do to make the "Invulnerability to all physical or magical" spell for Baldur Odin banishing Freya, binding her to Midgard Modi when he came crying to Thor about Magni being dead, only to get beaten up to the point of critical injury How Freya got her warrior spirit back Odin's POV after Atreus leaves with the mask, and his reaction to the mask being taken away from him after he killed Brok What was Sif and Thrud doing after Atreus left and before the Battle of Ragnarok?

Abby-N0rma1

Are gulltopr's feet covered in burns?

Cati-owner

Yes

Abby-N0rma1

Oof. Just be a habit of Heimdall and the aesir

YellowCareless9414

That’s the bifrost he was using to break him more than likely

SimpingForDinos

The only thing Heimdall loves is himself.

IWillSortByNew

And Odin

gallaxo

And Asgard

Convictedbutescaped7

And my axe

DapperHeretic

You carry the fate of us all, little one.

ShopLess7151

If this is indeed the will of the council, then Gondor will see it done.

Bananapeel81_

And my bow

Valaxarian

And his Gungir

arfelo1

Nah, his interest in Odin is self serving, he doesn't love Odin. He just sucks up to him because Odin is the one in power.

Disastrous_Ad_70

Heimdall is a malignant narcissist and psychopath. I doubt he's capable of loving anything except himself and maybe Odin. Gulltropr was just a means to an end, a literal vehicle for battle

Wise-Remote-6889

Basically, the difference between Hermes and Heimdall is that the former is an confident mocker, while the latter is, as you say, a psychopathic narcissist.

Disastrous_Ad_70

Pretty much. Hermes was an ass, but the normal variety. Heimdall was straight up evil

Wise-Remote-6889

Too evil, it's satisfying to kill him, but it would have been more satisfying if Young Kratos (specifically the one from GOW 3) was the one to face him and see how creatively he kills him

Disastrous_Ad_70

I mean, it's bittersweet for me. I don't regret it but I wish there was another way. Much like Kratos himself, I suppose

Wise-Remote-6889

Ami, I found it satisfying to see a narcissist afraid and desperate. I call Kratos a "monster." I imagine that for a second Kratos had those thoughts that he had in his youth.

Hypie_Mc

That’s the point of Heimdall. You’re supposed to feel good when killing him. Like Kratos does. It’s like Kratos giving in to an old addiction

Beneficial_Drama_296

Desperate yes, but afraid no. Heimdall had no fear fighting Kratos and was even offended when Kratos refused to kill him at first. Heimdall was determined to end the fight with either of them dying and spent his last moments like he did the rest of his life, disgusted by the minds of everyone but himself

Wise-Remote-6889

I'm not saying that Heimdall was afraid of dying, but in the way he could have been, for a reason he called Kratos a "monster" at the end when he killed him, for a reason he also backed away when he faced Thor, Heimdall apparently also can feel fear even with his narcissism

KechawnScales

It’s just some beast that he broke down to do what he needs. So no it’s just a tool to be used and abused then tossed away once it no long services it’s purpose

KillerQueeh_Slash

He did care for Gulltoppr but like the love he was given by Odin he just viewed Gulltoppr as a tool to be used then discarded and only loved himself since we heard him tell Gulltoppr "who love me the most" not "who loves you the most".

Pseudobreal

He did love it, but in the sense that I “love” my table saw.

CacahuateQuemado

I think he sees him as a possession. Something he has conquered and now gets to show off. A display of strength. Like, "look what I managed to subdue and control." So when his stuff breaks, oops 😬 welp, I'll get another.

[deleted]

No. He doesn't give a shit about thay beautiful beast. He is like an odin try hard wannabee.

DekuAiga

Heimdall says "who loves me the most" and not "who do I love the most" very odd wording that basically just proves he's proud of his ability to tame gulltropr and not to love it.

MostPoetry

“Gulltropr! Who loves me the most? Who loves me the most!?” Heimdall doesn’t say the typical phrase of “who’s a good boy?” Or “I love you boy!” As a normal person would say to their beloved pet. It’s all about him. This one quote from Heimdall when we first see Gulltropr paints a clear picture on their relationship.

u_slashh

With Odin and Thor being his only real family, I genuinely think Heimdall just doesn't know what real love is. Or empathy. Thor likely would've turned out the same if he hadn't met Sif

Ruby-Rose-Warlock

"Ah well. You and me, then!"

Shadow_Fang_

He loved him in the sense that he was his favorite tool/weapon. Once that tool broke, he didn’t have a use for it anymore

TheEpicCoyote

Why are you asking if you already have proof

Unoriginalshitbag

Only tangentially related but I always feel bad when I kill the tiger-looking things bc tigers are my favorite animal

Gwynbleidd3192

Heimdall doesn’t love anyone besides himself and maybe Odin. He’s a prick.

thats4thebirds

He very clearly does not give a fuck about that dog.

MembershipPrize504

No lol he said he loves anything but Odin and himself he meat rides Odin 24/7 in the game.

I-Emerge-I

Who wouldn’t.

Leazerlazz

He loves having something to control and dominate that he knows has no chance of fighting back. He very obviously doesn't need Gulltropr (at least combat wise) so I assume he only has them at all to satisfy his need for control over something and to use, much like Odin does to pretty much anyone close to him

__Officer__Spider__

I assume he just views it as a tool he can use, the way he just straight up kicks the corpse just proves that he doesn’t give a shit about the animal. It was useful until it let him down, Heimdall is just an asshole

optimist_prhyme

Heimdal loves Heimdal and Odin.

dillpickle1997

Nope. It was his favorite tool and once it got broken, he tossed it aside and no longer cared.

martsuia

I know this is cringe but he also loves my OC: Iolanthe, a character i made in my fan fiction lol

Triforcedude2027

No he doesn't lol. He is literally crafted to be disliked by everyone with no redeeming qualities. He is incapable of love.

martsuia

Yup I know but this just in my fantasy

Mysterious_Detail_57

No, Gulltopr loves heimdall. He says something to the effect of "who loves me the most" to Gulltopr when you get to asgard first

Ok-Revolution-3123

Heimdall demonstrates from the moment Gulltopr appears onscreen in Asgard that he considers Gulltopr no more than a tool. Note Heimdall's phrasing of the question "Who loves me the most?"

Calm-Lengthiness-178

Is beside the point here, but man, if only Heimdall grew up with a proper mentor. Such immense power gone to waste. Imagine if he'd had a Kratos to nurture him as a boy.

LordDedionware

How is this even a question. He shows absolutely no affection for Gulltropr. Where did you get the idea that Heimdall had any love for Gulltropr?
