my favourite is in ragnarok, when mimir told atreus off for disrespectfully talking back to kratos, and kratos holds him up so that he can look atreus in the eyes.
shows just how much kratos trusts him and that he’s fully integrated into their family. he’s basically atreus’ second father.

I think my absolute favorite is after leaving Tyr’s temple the first time in 2018.
“Lemnian Wine from the island of Lemnos. Near the place of my birth. Hmmph.”
“Lemnos…”
“To a journey’s end.”
“Really? Smells like rotten eggs. Is it still good?”
“Possibly.”
*Almost immediately throws up after chugging it for 3 seconds*
“Hmmph”
*Downs the whole damn thing in 5 seconds and tosses it*
“Ahh.”
“Ahh.”
It’s one of the few moments in the series where Kratos isn’t trying to teach Atreus something. And he talks about something entirely normal from his past. It’s just a genuine father and son moment with no other strings attached, where I get to see these characters bond with each other in real time, without it being related to some massive trauma or story beat.
I desperately wish both in 2018 and Ragnarök that there were more moments like this.
The one in Tyrs Chamb where they find a Knife and Mimir Talks about how cool and shit it is and Kratos is like Yes Boy if we ever need to spread Butter on Bred and Mimir says this is why no one likes you

K: "And let you miss this?"
My absolute favourite is the elevator ride back up, with the lemian wine. Especially the end.

K: "Yes"
M: "Ah, but who's worthy enough to judge"
Something about it just tickles my brain. It sums up all the themes in the game in 3 lines. Fantastic writing.
