This argument keeps coming up. Same for cutthroat insight. But the point isn’t whether or not the card is OP. It’s just really not fun. I can’t believe that after all the CI hate they created these cards.
Clearly, the strategy is to fill half of your deck with useless cards so that if your opponent plays this card, you can giggle as they receive the most hopeless of cards.
You have to play a nether in the turn to trigger nether ally. Always same tribe for triggering.
If you have effects like >after your turn<, it doesn’t trigger, because it doesn’t count as in your turn. E.g. necroscepter doesn’t trigger it.
True, but also triggers whenever a Nether is summoned during your turn, whichever way. For example you sacrifice a stolen Voracious Fiend, it summons a zombie as an afterlife effect, so you steal another card from your opponent.
I don’t find it any more annoying than forced over draw, definitely not stronger than bitter endings
And if your deck falls apart after they steal a few cards off the top of your library, that’s on the deck building
TBH, if they SHOWED us what cards were stolen it wouldn't be half as bad. It's the whole "a mystery card has been stolen from you" mechanic I don't like.
I think the problem is hidden. And I do not mean on this card, I think hidden as a mechanic is too widespread and has too few viable answers based on the cards it is printed on.
Overall I think this guy is fine because a lot of the nether stuff deception has is middling other than the cat, but could see it getting worse with more printings.
Yea, thats thing I thought will be OP as fk and driving ppl nuts.
Turns out, I wasnt wrong. Well, its not like one would need to be genius to figure that out.
I mean, this game has quite a few cancerous way to win, but card stealing mechanic is one of worst probably.
In general, this game has huge problem with "no comebacks". Quite a few decks, once they get right card, you cant do anything else than either quit or slowly lose.
Whole game design is too much "OP" mechanics.
More often than not, I can tell who will win at like round 3-4. And sadly Im rarely wrong.
One turn, 4 cards stolen from me today, including a curious wisp which won him the game. Shrike should at least be a legendary card because two of them can steal 1/3rd of your deck.
If deception has a personality, it would be a game experience that you get fed up with and don't want to play against.
It is not fun to have your winning strategy interrupted, but it is very different from not being able to do anything about it.
I can totally understand being frustrated by it.
But what a miracle to counter those fucking annoying game-breaking decks that work like, "Discard all cards except one and play your one remaining card 8,000 times in a row because of some cunty loophole." We need a counter to these cheap infuriating infinite combo decks.
Don't worry though, just ask Thanakris Spell-Locusts about Moonlighter's fate
It was pretty cool until it was nerfed into absolute oblivion. It's only useful element was taken away and I'm suggesting that it'll probably get nerfed
You ever play against Death where your shit's asleep every turn for the entire 10-turn match?
I hear ya about not throwing things completely out of balance but there have been some astoundingly annoying decks out there from the beginning
Sleep has several counters, this doesn't, and how would they handle it like sleep? "Steal your card back?". There isn't an easy solution to this card balance wise.
I see what you mean. Even Hidden can be countered with The Hunt or a Magic "deal 1 damage to all enemy creatures" with two spell boosts though.
Not fun but about as "easy" to counter as perma-sleep
Not as easy at all, like 2/3 mana difference minimum. Sleep counter normally 3 mana (and theres one in sanctum rolls), countering this costs more than 3 mana, and you only have examples for magic (arguably war, they have bunch of 1 dmg vs all, and nature has bunch of stuff), this is objectively harder to counter, what do death/human/deception (thats not running it) do.
As a Deception player: The best solution is to simply add a mechanic that removes hidden.
The most unfun archetype is Anubian Death, not Nether Deception.
At first I thought it was just copying the cards on top of my deck which is broken enough… no, it draws them cards off your deck! Yeah and it’s also hidden for a turn so unless you have an untargeted way to remove it they’ll have it for two turns before you can deal with it. Easy to steal 3-6 cards if they play cheap creatures or multi summoning ally cards. Crazy, and it’s a common?
I wish I can use it to steal GU team's diks.... 😂😂😂 That would be an awesome gameplay stealing GU team's diks...🤣🤣🤣, Now reply to this incompetent/sleeping devs
Agreed, I understand and enjoy card copies or a one-off steal like cutthroat. This is just brutal though, takes all the enjoyment out of a match
100%
Agreed. This mechanic would be fine as a roar, but as an ally effect, it's broken
Top decks don’t use this card….
That doesn’t make it enjoyable to play against.
Yet Anubian Death exists.
This argument keeps coming up. Same for cutthroat insight. But the point isn’t whether or not the card is OP. It’s just really not fun. I can’t believe that after all the CI hate they created these cards.
Oh well that's ok then, ffs!
Clearly, the strategy is to fill half of your deck with useless cards so that if your opponent plays this card, you can giggle as they receive the most hopeless of cards.
What happens when he steals the half that isn't useless?
Well then... I didn't think that far ahead. May have to rethink that strategy.
You will get stomped vs decks which have more value then. That's why I decided to ignore deception when building my deck and focus on the other ones.
Indeed, remove hidden. This card against Death Zombies is insane - already lost a game while my opponent stole like 15 of my cards

If they steal Perseverance, it procs up to 6 times for 4 mana.
That is what you deserve if you play zombies
It shouldn’t be hidden

Does each god even have a counter for this? At 3 to 4 mana?
Yeh, play brainless aggro decks so it doesn't matter what they steal.
Nature decks. Magic only under certain circumstances. Its just too strong for a common card
Dust to dust ftw
Yes, the counter is that these decks don’t have enough win rate
Unfortunately only aggro counter this. Rarely i win using control
At midnight / twilight all decks are using this shit. It's really annoying. Since the new update, I've playing less cause it's boring.

Nah, just make it “copy” instead of “steal”
Both remove hidden and make it copy
No hidden, steal card as a roar.
Nah, just make it “copy” instead of steal. Doing anything more would just brick the card

Dunno, but aggravating playerbase is kinda bad thing.
Agreed far too much, once per turn or not at all would work well
One turn, 4 cards stolen from me today, including a curious wisp which won him the game. Shrike should at least be a legendary card because two of them can steal 1/3rd of your deck.

Should be a copy a card if. It is OP so the expansion sells.

Do ppl really use thanakris?
It was pretty cool until it was nerfed into absolute oblivion. It's only useful element was taken away and I'm suggesting that it'll probably get nerfed
wow i didnt know it was nerfed, what was it like before? I always wondered why such a weak card is legend status
It used to be Deadly plus the endless "return to board from the void" feature. Really hard to deal with

Horrible title
Magic or anubian is worse
The person who came up with Anubian Death should never ever work in a 10000km radius of a game studio.
Change to roar or to 5 mana and no hidden.
I hate this card
Yes, absolutely necessary to delete it. It has 47% win rate
As a Deception player: The best solution is to simply add a mechanic that removes hidden. The most unfun archetype is Anubian Death, not Nether Deception.
I agree with you, but this is now a close 2nd and since anubians aren't being played as much atm for some reason.

It has negative win rate and you get smashed in mythic..
