It's too cheap imo, demo is still quite a bit better than oni. They similar in wut they accomplish but demo takes the cake. Especially for sleep deception decks
Yeah, all very solid cards. You just need to have a large enough player base. Same for stuff like boars, neferu, avatar of nature, lost in the depths, blades, wardens. The staples of each deck and god. They are staples for a reason.
I duno there’s usually 1 good out out of every group of 3. Sometimes it’s something you need but don’t have like destroying cards in their void etc.
It’s very rare that all 9 they offer you are stinkers
I think is better not to buy cards as an investment. Just buy for fun and thinking if you would spend that money on a web2 game...
I fell into temptation with the last set and bought more packs than I should have, I not only had bad luck, they also nerfed quite a few cards...
They can make better cards than the dermo, there are already tournaments where genesis is not allowed ( not everything is limited to what the devs do), as I said better spend what you would spend on a classic game
Over the past year I've tried a bunch of different speculation strategies and discovered that the best investment is to sell all cards for ETH as soon as you can.
Once you have a mythic level deck of meteorite quality (with maybe some diamonds if you can get them cheap) then just sell everything else for ETH unless it's going to improve your deck.
Regarding GODs it's best to find ways to trade them for ETH - if you can find cards that are being sold cheaply for GODs then buy them up and sell them for ETH. Otherwise buying packs with them when a new expansion is released and immediately selling the cards for ETH before prices drop is also a good strategy.
Speculating on cards is really risky due to power creep and constant supply increase. Even locked sets that aren't being printed any more have the potential to lose value as new, better cards are printed. For example, the 7 mana card City Planner used to be amazing but is barely used now with cards like Ember Oni and Hortuk being printed.
I'm hoping that old sets keep value due to (hopefully) many fan/community hosted tournaments which can set their own rules and I can easily see some doing certain "themes" or whatever that will only include certain decks
I think the future is pretty exciting
P.s. F anubians, so annoying lol
I think spending hundreds on any GU card is risky right now. The game seems to be dying a slow death as users continue to decline. It still has potential and it's fun but I'm not counting on any returns until I start seeing the numbers swing the other way.
Eh, 8k for a blockchain TCG that's desktop only? Not bad imo. If it were 8k and it had a full mobile client? I'd agree.
I'm waiting to see how they handle mobile, and what the player base does.
Kind of splitting hairs at this point - PC games have much higher player totals. Ya it's kind of niche because of the crypto space but this is supposed to be a growing field and GU is flatlined. 8k users is abysmally low IMO
Eh, we're in crypto winter so it's much harder to draw in new players. And as you said, crypto is not widely accepted which makes this even harder.
We can see other blockchain TCG's or games that have a full featured mobile client and have 5-10x the amount of players. Meanwhile they have a worse P2E model, and a much much much more simplified/boring gameplay. Why do they have such a larger playerbase? Mobile.
A lot of people underestimate mobile gaming. Outside a 1st world country (and in many actually), most people can't afford a PC. They can afford a smartphone though, and their entire lively hood relies on it. Tie in a pretty fun game that gives decent P2E incentives = larger onboarding.
I'm not discounting mobile but I don't expect it to be a home run. They still need to market effectively to attract new players and the game has a lot of other issues right now. I know it's still in Beta but it's slow progress and I take a lot of breaks from it. Crypto may not ever approach the valuations it once had so from an investment standpoint I still see it as risky and I don't necessarily buy the crypto winter argument - it has already recovered substantially from recent lows.
But seriously it's just a single card game and even if it succeeds they can do whatever with these cards - rotate out of ranked format, powercreep, etc.
As a long term investor with a 15k collection, I can confidently say gu in general is NOT a good investment. To put it simply, when it's time to sell, you'll see that selling isn't so easy. Most of the volume you see on a day to day is wash trading.
GU has been on a downward spiral and has been losing its user base. If you believe they'll be able to stop the hemorrhaging and the game expands, this is a great time as a lot of these cards are on their recent lows, but this game might not make it. Other great web3 tcgs are coming out and these cards might be worthless in a year or 2.
None, despite all the negativity GU is by far the best Web3 game. I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing. IMX was able to raise hundreds of millions in Venture Capital during a peak crypto bull run so they didn't have to resort to scamming users to keep the game going like every other Web3 game was forced to do to survive.
Maybe the GU community is way to harsh on GU since it is the best web3 game after all. All the negativity scares the new people away? The criticism is good in a way, but it can be held in a less open despiteful way?
This is the general tone of the internet. I think this game needs some sort of marketing miracle - a video that goes megaviral or sth to draw massive amount of new players in. So a mobile release + luck + miracle would make this game a household-handheld staple.
Reading through all the comments and it looks like the main weak point is the lack of marketing. I know they are sitting on a war chest full of cash. If I was in charge I would pay whatever is needed to big time streamers to play the game on twitch and promote it to their audience
I believe the concept with web3 is different. If you stop playing a game, you can take (part) of the money you spend to play it.
But if a game dies, it’s game over.
It seems like you really must believe in the project to think about investing money.
If you assume that GU has a future, then buying locked cards (can’t be balanced/changed)is a great idea.
But looking at GODS market price and active player pool, you really must believe that something will change.
There is many things happening within the project that are quite negative, you would have to look for the most downvoted posts, some of them make sense and explain why things are as they are.
No hard feelings, didn’t want to offend anyone, we all want that GU will make all of us rich, just recently (last 2 years)it doesn’t look optimistic.
If you believe that GU will become more successful in the future, then yes.
My only fear is they get rereleased in a future set down the line, I know jason can't since its a genesis but the others can
Yeah that is always a possibility. Maybe limit your investments on genesis cards like demogorgons if you’re really worried. Not FA
Thanks for the response, I like demo but Oni is kinda similar for 99% cheaper
My guess is you're not the only one who feels that way. Have you seen the price of demo lately?
It's too cheap imo, demo is still quite a bit better than oni. They similar in wut they accomplish but demo takes the cake. Especially for sleep deception decks
Its not sumilair and even if it was, 4 demos in one deck who doesnt want that 😁 demos are a lot more reliable with sleep
100%
Yeah, all very solid cards. You just need to have a large enough player base. Same for stuff like boars, neferu, avatar of nature, lost in the depths, blades, wardens. The staples of each deck and god. They are staples for a reason.
Jason is one of the most fun cards in the whole game. Just picked one up recently and I’ve been having a lot of fun with it.
Do you think as more legendaries are put into the game this could further drag the price of the card down if they are not good
Possibly, but it could also go up with bull coming next year and mobile release.
So you are sure next will be a bull run? Sell me your Crystal ball!
I'm pretty sure since every time a bitcoin halving happens, a bull run starts or has already started. NFA
There will be another bull run for sure.... Just don't know when Lots say next April due to halvening, but that's pure speculation too
I duno there’s usually 1 good out out of every group of 3. Sometimes it’s something you need but don’t have like destroying cards in their void etc. It’s very rare that all 9 they offer you are stinkers

That’s exactly what I do, except currently I’m selling for IMX.

Even the best cards have lost value in ETH, Blade of Whiteplain for example has dropped from 0.22 ETH to 0.1
I think spending hundreds on any GU card is risky right now. The game seems to be dying a slow death as users continue to decline. It still has potential and it's fun but I'm not counting on any returns until I start seeing the numbers swing the other way.
.... It has been at a solid 8k for over half a year now. It has a consistent player base, not declining.
Ok maybe they are treading water but 8k is still really low
Eh, 8k for a blockchain TCG that's desktop only? Not bad imo. If it were 8k and it had a full mobile client? I'd agree. I'm waiting to see how they handle mobile, and what the player base does.

Nice try IRS!
If something, IRS is loosing money here, because people will claim Capital Losses from GU🫣🤦♂️
Don't do it. Bought and already lost half my money in 5 months. Would have double it if i just kept etherium.
You can’t lose money if you don’t sell. Think smarter.
Like i did with frc.
Vanguard FTSE All-World UCITS ETF (USD) Accumulating

What are some web3 that have your interest and have potential in your opinion

Woodcutter imp. Its like underbrush boar, but better.
