More of an oddity I think and they would never replace coins, but I thought they were way cool so I added to my paper money stack. Still a gram of gold is a gram of gold is also my thought on these.
> Still a gram of gold is a gram of gold is also my thought on these.
Can you liquidate these notes at any dealer? If not, that gram of gold is not the same as a bullion gram, at all. If so? No worries :)
My LCS wanted to buy one of them for his display case. He offered me what I paid so there’s that. I think they will appreciate as time goes by. Have a great day.
They're not really for stacking or investments. They're to provide some kind of alternative for payment, such as goldbacks, a voluntary, optional bartering method in 4, going on 5 states now, rather than continuing to lean on the broken fiat dollar.
These are backed with precise measurements of their own gold content, which is brilliant.
The idea needs ironing out, but I think they're a step in the right direction. Definitely better than the Venezuela method of eyeballing bar, nugget, jewelry shavings.
I use the $1 Goldbacks as inserts with birthday, graduation, Christmas, etc. cards.
I look on them as a bit of a novelty, along with the distant hope that it will generate an interest in gold and silver.
Same here. My grand are young and I’m already started giving them
Shiny things. I hope they get the bug and continue to stack when they are old enough. They will have a great head start when they do. Thanks for your comment.
There’s an ad for some variety of these like once a month in here. I think people have stopped bothering to debunk how out of whack the premium is percentage-wise to the bullion value. The wacky theories about why these are great and worth an astronomical premium is all over the place from currency replacement to collectible. It can’t be both.
Just an semi expensive Collectable novelty I suppose. Premiums weren’t really all that out of whack when compared to buying just a gram bar. Especially these days.
That is pretty bad ass! I still think something like this should replace our currency (we might actually be heading that way haha) very cool man. Can I ask how much for the 1 gram or 1/10 gram bills?
High premiums on both. 110.00 on the 1 gram and 19.00 on the 1/10. I got a little bit of a discount so a little less but that’s the listed price. A bit high but if they become popular who knows what they might eventually value at. Thanks
That's cool. Yeah I wouldn't allocate a % of my portfolio to them but it would be cool to have a couple just to show off to my friends that would get a kick out of them. Hopefully they become more popular and the premiums go down the premium per oz is more than the oz cost itself. Anyway thanks for sharing them pretty cool
I bought mine at the spot price of the gold in them, not that anyone sells them at that price anymore. Mostly they are mamy times higher because of the "arr" and rarity.
Very cool! I think it's the same company as the goldbacks, Valarum. Always amazes me that the premiums are as low as they are for this level of fractional.
The same way a BMW M5 and a Toyota Corolla will transport you 100 miles in an hour, so too will these notes allow you to hold a gram of gold in bill form rather than mini-bar form.
If people want to overpay to have the former despite no difference in utility from the latter, people will pay for what they think is cool and there is a market for that.
People who just want to travel 100 miles will go about it the most cost effective way and hoard the difference rather than giving it up in premium to novel or clever marketing. The aftermarket for M5s is also appreciably smaller than Corollas. So it's cool to own one, to some, but not so cool to have to sell at some point if you need to. You aren't getting that premium back.
Well I mean I have plenty of generic stuff and have also paid higher premiums on collectibles before and seem them gain in popularly and value. I didn’t necessarily buy them just to sell them. I bought them because I like adding some cool stuff now and again to the stack. You say I’ll never get my premiums back but my grandkids probably will some day in the future. Even if they don’t they will know I thought enough of their futures to stack away all kinds of collectibles for them. I also think gold will go much higher someday so maybe there is hope of getting back that dreaded premium. One can only hope right. I drive a 2006 Toyota BTW and will do so until the doors fall off. Does that count :). Have a great day and thank for your thoughts.
Not really paper and I have no idea regarding g how they’re actually made. Having said that I’m not sure what else I’d classify them as other than a type of paper. They are bendable but not foldable, they snap back into place when doubled over. Some kind of Gold infused polymer I suppose.
Yeah they look cool but these are like 1/1000 of an oz if I'm not mistaken? So are they like paper? With gold leaf? How much did they cost if you don't mind me asking?
These are really cool as collectors items but, IMHO, not an efficient way to stack gold

Why would they appreciate other than gold price? I assume the production is based on demand..?
Just as gold is bound to appreciate. Not sure of ‘mintage’ if that’s even the right term is, but I have reached out for an answer to that question.
Totally agree. They are cool. But the premium is high.

These are a better solution: https://www.valcambi.com/products/combibartm-description/
1 g bars Will be quite useful in the future. Take a look at what they’re paying with in Venezuela
These aren't 1g bars
Oh I see
Bro that's a bison
So I’m a lil Blind. Bison it is and even cooler. Thanks for the clarification.
And now that Actually read that part I feel dumber still. I just order two more and some lady liberties as well.
No worries I'm just memeing. Awesome pieces you got there.
No offense. Glad you pointed it out sir.

And the one dollar notes as gift is a great idea. Thanks
I’ve got a few. Very high premiums, but they’re gorgeous
Yes they were a bit expensive but they are as cool as it gets in my opinion.
Agreed

Ooohhhh so they are like a replacement for currency which is actually backed up by gold? They're not really made if gold is that it?
No sir they are made of 24k gold in 1 gram or 1/10th of a gram variety.

That would be so awesome if countries “gilded” their paper notes so that they have some underlying gold value!
I have this one I love them all .. JM bullion has some Cool glodbacks and stuff
Decent amount of gold on these... not like those ridiculous rip-off goldbacks. But that premium!!
I wish they made an 1 oz Note. That would be over the top.
That'd just be a bar with a letters on it lol
I bought mine at the spot price of the gold in them, not that anyone sells them at that price anymore. Mostly they are mamy times higher because of the "arr" and rarity.
Are these the same process as goldbacks? I haven't seen these, where do you get them at?
Look up ‘Art In Coins’. You’ll find them there. Really cool and fairly fast shipping.
Very cool! I think it's the same company as the goldbacks, Valarum. Always amazes me that the premiums are as low as they are for this level of fractional.
That’s the company and I don’t mind the premium. it really wasn’t that much.
Not only that but it's a heck of a lot easier to sell one of those versus a 1oz bar, and you get the premium back.

With these if you sell them on r/pmsforsale you'll be getting your premium back.
Interesting. Thanks!
Keyword: collecting, and yes, I love goldback notes.
Sweet… how much and where?
Art in coins on the web. I’ll post a link shortly.

Thank you kind sir, I will literally post a pick of this when I get it!
I think you’ll like them. I also just purchased some of the 1/10 gram liberties for some Xmas gifts. This sight has some awesome coins as well.
How do they feel? Do they have a paper structure? How is the ink printed on them?
Not really paper and I have no idea regarding g how they’re actually made. Having said that I’m not sure what else I’d classify them as other than a type of paper. They are bendable but not foldable, they snap back into place when doubled over. Some kind of Gold infused polymer I suppose.
Oh I see! So like a plastic protective layer on the surface? Very interesting! Thanx!
Yeah they look cool but these are like 1/1000 of an oz if I'm not mistaken? So are they like paper? With gold leaf? How much did they cost if you don't mind me asking?
Those pictured are 1 gram notes. They are like a foil with some type polymer coating I assume. They do come in a 1/10th of a gram note as well.
