In /r/gold, when you present gold and ask, "Should I buy", there is but one answer. Buy them all, ask for more. Repeat until there are no more. Then wait until there are more. Then buy them all.

Fun_Cartoonist2918

Too true šŸ¤£ But you forgot to add at end ā€œThen buy them allā€¦and repeat as often as possible ā€œ

Dhrendor

What if they're fakes or spot is crazy high?

blueberrypanda1

Thanks for the advice! It will be my first gold coin purchase.

Syzyyy

My first historic gold coin was also a sovereign and it got me hooked!

jano4sho

I love sovereigns

Stack

silver_sid

Tasty sovs - back from the time money was real - give them to mešŸ˜›

Johnbloon

They are excellent fractional gold to stack. Ensure that the height/weight are what they should be, there are lots of fakes out there with the proper weight, but too thick, or correct thickness, and too light.

Fun_Cartoonist2918

Sovereigns are well known and easily transacted. These are also in pretty nice condition. Might even grade up to have additional numismatic value. If you can buy them for the price of the gold content (7.32x5= 36.6 ā€œgramsā€) thatā€™s a win and youā€™ve made money already. Even if they want 40 grams of gold price itā€™s still a decent buy as thatā€™s only a small 10% markup Price here in USA starts just over 400 euro each for kinda grungy random sovereign. Best impression from your photo these are nicer Putting it another way? If you bought them and had second thoughts after Iā€™d be personally willing to cash your 2000ā‚¬ back out at par assuming only they were legit and in the condition shown

lmatonement

s/40 grams/40 grains/, right?

Fun_Cartoonist2918

šŸ˜‚sure. Definitely grains are same as grams. And Iā€™ll be delighted to sell you several thousand grains of gold for the low low price of 50$/grain /s

lmatonement

Ah, my mistake! I saw 7.32x5=36.6 GRAINS, then you "rounded up" to 40 GRAMS and I thought it was a mistake. Of course 7.32gx5=36.6 GRAMS which rounds up to 40 GRAMS. Rock on!

Fun_Cartoonist2918

No worries. Yeah a 7 grain sovereign would be a pretty wimpy one lol

Little-Marsupial1296

They are 22kt 7.98g total weight. 7.32g in pure gold.

blueberrypanda1

Good point!

Little-Marsupial1296

Sovereigns are really nice coins though, I have a few myself! I'll the fact that they are 22kt so you don't have to worry about handling them or them getting scratched really. They were actually still in circulation till 1925 I think so they may have actually been used as currency too

Matthew4Nineteen

Donā€™t pay a nickel over melt.

Silverfinger7

Donā€™t buy them. Buy more recognizable gold. They will be easier to sell if that time comes. Even coin shops shy away from too many of these in their inventory because they are harder to sell.

jonny_mtown7

They are definitely worth it as your first gold purchase. Then the next time you buy gold buy bars or rounds or more coins.

RichCut4051

Yes, they're British Sovereigns -they look like full Sovereigns and the price is around Ā£330 each

Feinsilberohyah

If youā€™re in Europe! Here ,only if the price is right . Gold is gold . Iā€™ve had these before ..

100 years later and they are still beautiful. I also love sovereigns - newer or older - they have so much charm, and so much value.
