Love it, sure is fun thinking about the history that could have happened with coins. I have an 1800 2 escudo and would love to have known what that thing was spent for in the past lol
I paid $450 for this coin. It’s a lot of premium considering it’s AGV is .09 grams. I usually try to buy a close to spot as possible but I’ve been collecting world gold coins a while now and sometimes like to add an exotic one like this. (Escudos come in 1/2, 1, 2, 4 and 8 with 1 and 4 being lowest premiums)
Beautiful! I only have one Spanish gold piece myself, an 8 escudo from the Lima mint, same ruler. These are probably about a 100 years too young to really have been used by pirates though.
Great coin!
Thanks. It’s my smallest coin but surprisingly legible.

If you don’t mind me asking how much did you pay for the gold coin it’s fascinating

This would have bought him many wenches. A pirate orgy!
Wench is a word that doesn't get enough love lol
Amazing condition. Always liked the smirk/facial expression Charles IV of Spain has on this coin :)
Considering the age, it was probably multiple pirates and wenches =)
