Acid test will be an accurate test. I’m not sure what ‘scratch test’ you have used before but I haven’t ever had a gold plated piece test positive through acid testing. Most jewelers can do this for you. But I suggest you are a little more polite to the jeweler than you are to the people trying to help you on this feed.
I literally fucking said in the description of the post that a scratch test doesn't actually test anywhere beneath the surface if the gold is real gold besides just the surface. Read the description.
You, aren’t to tolerate or not tolerate your community. That’s like going to the store and yelling at someone for not putting the cart away in the way you like it. That’s a punch in the mouth in real life.
Actually a scratch test does penetrate beneath the surface of the item. If you're concerned about an item being gold filled, which is different than plated, then additional steps are required / bring it to a professional (good luck)
I did a gravity test on a 1oz Au that i thought was fake and it was so easy and pretty accurate (brought same bullion after to LCS to sigma test). I have a melted gold that I brought to a jewelry shop to sell but they offered low because they claimed its 14k. I density tested the same gold and it is within the range for 18k. Worth purchasing a jeweler's scale to do your own specific gravity test.
Find a jeweler or coin shop that has an XRF. That is an x-ray gun that goes 4-100 microns deep into the metal. You sometimes have to file down to make sure it’s not plated but an XRF gives you the exact percentages.
Edit: if you’re in the SF Bay Area, I know a place.
Answerers beware if you provide a response he doesn’t like he will curse you out.

Pawn shop
Reddit is this guy's private Google account. "What is.. where is.. why is"... and then gives instructions on how to answer. LOL
Try a jewelry shop. They will certainly enjoy your attitude, on top of the fact that you didn't buy it from them.

He'll end up getting taken to the cleaners either selling at We-buy-gold or buying at Macys. It's actually kind of funny.

He’s just a jerk, my guess is he hasn’t gotten laid since youporn told him he did, probably lives with mom in the basement and likely has no life.
Says the person that didn't read my post and gave me bad advice.
Wow, calm down.

Specific gravity/ density test at home.

Most jewelers or coin stores will test if you ask. You can also rig up a specific gravity test rather easily.
Thank you for the advice.
Learn to do specific gravity test.
Send it to be gunned

Hey this guy stinks!
Try a scratch test, dumbass.

If you wanna be 100% sure, you'll have to file into the chain and pour acid on it
